Love this coffee!! The vibe of the place is off the chain and the staff talks to you like a real person. Pup friendly from what I can tell and also there is ample parking on the street. Love the vibrant feel and the fact that they are off the main drag for privacy!

Cozy neighborhood cafe with ample seating and power outlets. They also had light EDM music playing which is another plus. The artwork displayed on the walls are bright and contribute to the vibe.

Really comfy spot to do homework or read. They were super busy and the barista was kind enough to make sure I looked for a seat before getting my coffee to stay. They have a mix of outdoor seating and indoor seating of tables with seats, armchairs and booths. It’s got a really cute atmosphere, they don’t play music too loud and there’s outlets. Great spot on the south side. Oh! And the coffees really good. Would definitely come back.

First off--the coffee is amazing. They use Intelligentsia coffee, and it's delicious. I get their cold brew, and it's not just rich and smooth in flavor but it's also strong to keep you going through your studies/day. They have many tables (mostly smaller for individual or pair studying), most with outlets! There's also an outdoor section!!!

Big Dog Coffee is a fantastic favorite to anyone in the Pittsburgh area that has a true appreciation for quality Coffee and Tea. The staff is wonderful and will take great care of you, is highly knowledgeable in the craft and is simply a joy to talk with any day any time! There is a fair amount of seating though it does get busy, and the outdoor patio area is nice in the better Pittsburgh weather!

This is one of my favorite locations to go and do work. The coffee and tea selection is great and the location is off the beaten path which means it's never super busy. The spot is always clean and so are the bathrooms... BONUS! :-) I highly recommend this spot for reading, writing, or working on a laptop. Very studious vibe.

I live in Seattle and was visiting Pittsburgh for the weekend. I wanted a comfortable coffee shop to hang out and do some reading. I found Big Dog on a google search, and in my opinion the vibe and the quality of the coffee is up there with the best of anything I’m used to back home! The decor and ambience give it an upscale college town feel. Not what I’d expect in gritty blue-collar Pittsburgh and that’s a good thing. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They have a cool outdoor patio and beautiful art on the walls. If you want good coffee and to be surrounded by intelligent, nice people, away from the brutish bros, this is your place.

One of my favorite coffee shops in Southside. I always get a cup of their hot oatmeal from their oatmeal bar! The backyard garden is so beautiful and relaxing. It’s the perfect place to study or catch up with an old friend.

A great outside and mellow inside. There are outdoor plugs for your computer in the summer. In the winder they have the fireplace roaring with real logs on the fire. A unique place in the evermore crowded Pittsburgh market. Plus the coffee is good. Something place who focus on atmosphere can lose sight of.

My wife and I loved the coffee and her latte was beautifully made. There was a massive line out the door and the two baristas were working their butts off to get everyone's orders. Good selection of baked goods and they have a cool "make your own oatmeal station". Awesome artwork too! Will come back.

Really cozy with interesting artwork (local artist, I believe). A variety of teas, coffees and pastries. My favorite is the warmed croissant with jam (I emphasize warmed!). I never have time to sit and chill out here, but I'll have to make the time some day. The staff are very, very nice.

Husband and I went here and we both had small lattes. We paid just under $10 for our drinks. We decided to drink them in the store so we could enjoy the very nice atmosphere. The smalls were served in decently-sized glass coffee mugs with pretty designs made from the whipped topping. The menu wasn't very thorough; it was vague as to what was available unless you were ordering tea. The lattes were good, but not the greatest we have ever had. But we did enjoy ourselves and our drinks.

this place really surprised me with its size! there is plenty of space to call your own if you plan on posting up there with you computer to get some work done. there is a small, out door patio too. the coffee is all good. whatever you usually get in shops like this will be tops.

My pour-over coffee was fantastic but the baristas were not. because there was a fairly decent line of people the morning I went, when I ordered my pour over she rolled her eyes at me and didn't really smile or talk to me the rest of the time she waited on me. then my buddy who was behind me in line also ordered a pour-over and got the same treatment. I won't be back.

Normal coffee shop with the added effect of allowing dogs inside. Treats and water are readily available, at least in the summer. Beverages don’t do it for me. The hot chocolate and tea cool off much too fast. They have flavor, but it goes with the temperature.

Small cozy atmosphere coupled with lots of art makes this a great place to meet for coffee! Just be aware that it is not suited for groups larger than 4 people because of limited space and seating. The coffee is good, and the service is on point at Big Dog.

Great little coffee shop hidden away on the Southside. Such a cozy and warm atmosphere! We visited on a warm evening and enjoyed the patio out back. My daughter had a coffee and I had herbal tea. The menu has quite a variety. The staff was friendly. It was a pleasure to visit.

Nikolai the owner is always incredibly welcoming. Fantastic ambience and plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. They use intelligentsia coffee beans, which I love. The beans are always fresh and not over roasted for consistency like some of the big roasters out there. Baron Batch artwork on the walls accents the rustic fixtures throughout. FYI steamed milk beverages (lattes etc) are steamed at a slightly lower temperature for maximum flavor, if you like your beverages at a higher temp simply ask for "extra hot".
