REVIEWS OF McNulty's Tea & Coffee Co IN New York

Mike H.

My favorite place to pick up coffee beans in Manhattan. Great roasts, good service, and excellent prices--can't go wrong here. Also, my wife absolutely loves the selections of tea.

broccolli robb

amazing place, its like going back in time.

ANDREW HENRY HIRSHMAN

Just an incredible place, that goes back to a very different New York. Best selection of loose teas, tea accessories, and fine tea tins I've ever seen. Great selection of scores of whole bean arabica coffees from all over the world at variety of roast types, fair trades and organic designations, and some varieties which are fairly rare. It's also the best smelling store in New York, if not the East Coast.

Gabriel Jose

My favorite coffee seller in NYC! - G

Alisa Wyman

Lovely, traditional coffee and tea show in lower manhattan. The smells in there are amazing. I walked away with some of their house roast (a combo of two beans), and a colombian. Both excellent, and good prices as well!

Fred Lopez

I drink A LOT of tea. I'm talking at least eight cups a day. I knew when I came home to visit, I needed tea and so I decided to check this place out since it was close to where I was staying. I'm trying not to be too provincial about my rating, because it's clear to me that New Yorkers pay a lot more for fresh loose leaf than I'm accustomed to paying in other parts of the country. But when you get past that part, it's a nice enough place with a large selection of teas. The system is somewhat inefficient. You come in, there's a long line (when I came in) and then someone goes to fetch your tea for you once it's your turn to order. It's efficient in a sense and everyone is polite enough, but it's a bit clunky if you've been to any other kind of tea store in a (less populated) different place. So I guess the verdict is, it's nice enough. But a bit on the pricey side and if you're a newcomer to loose-leaf tea looking for a selection, this is probably not the first place I'd recommend because it's daunting and not especially inviting. But for my purposes, it got the job done. Especially if you need loose-leaf tea and are staying in Jersey, because it's literally a block from the PATH. (There's also Indian and Thai across the street. An extra treat!)

Alex Chanson

Strongly recommend! Staff is friendly and knowledgeable; plus the selection is vast. The coffee beans I bought are some of the best I've ever brewed (Java French Roast).

Tanuki Suki

A very homely little shop, everything they have is very authentic and they have a ton of choices I haven't seen anywhere else. Their prices are extremely fair, and the workers are very polite, and helped picked out a tea for somebody based off of their preferences.

mark scott

I love the smell when i walk in!

jannie mcneil

What a gem! Excellent variety of fresh teas and coffees!

Jeff Silverman

Great place. Friendly knowledge staff. Great smells of coffee and tea.

Norma Campbell

It's a cozy space to meet up with a friend or do some work on your laptop. I got two large Catchall which is a match latte. I liked that it wasn't too sweet but also had a lot of match in it. Wifi is available and they have a frequent reward stamp card.

Liz Savery

Mecca if you're a coffee or tea lover! (So, just about anyone.) This store smells wonderful, and the coffee (or tea) that you choose is measured out carefully and lovingly. They will answer any questions that you have and make recommendations if you're unsure about what type to get. It's always a treat to come here, and if you're lucky enough to live nearby, don't buy your coffee anyplace else.

Sal Rentas

Superior for coffee and tea lovers, plus one of the rare handful of places left in nyc that has not been forced out by mega developers.

James Talvy

I don't drink coffee but I buy it here for my mom and she enjoys it. I like the tea and the people are very nice.

M MacFarland

Amazing selection and knowledge. This is what the tea stores at the malls strive to be but are unable to duplicate.

Sheilah Tobin

This is the best coffee in the city and I think one of the best in the country. But you have to catch them when the pour over bar is open. Their selection of coffees tor pour over is large with most of them being better than the best options in other places in the city.

Del DeVries

Excellent selection. A delight to walk in the door and experience tea in all varieties and quality levels. Don't miss this little shop!

Nancy Lambert

An amazing selection of tea and excellent, friendly service make McNulty's one of my favorite places in NYC.

Angel Vinita

In addition to excellent coffee, the sandwiches were delectable. Fabulous decor and atmosphere. Give them a try.

Chris Jake

Great bulk tea place with excellent staff

Gerard J. Costello

McNulty's is great !!! They have an unbelievable selection of coffee and tee. And the staff is extremely helpful and pleasant. I would't go anywhere else !!!

Jesse Figueiredo

You can travel to the other side of the world & you will not find a tea house like McNulty’s. This is tea heaven. Enjoy!

Matthew Marshall

Love this place! Great selection and variety, with a super helpful and friendly staff to match! Definitely check out this hidden gem!

Amelia Berry

Came here to try out the coffee since I heard the place was good. I tried the mocha with chilli and it was great. It had a nice spicy tang that wasn't overly spicy. The place is quite nice too. I was able to find sitting which was nice because I came at a relatively busy time. The barista was also helpful with recommendations. I would definitely return.

Bria Jordan

Like stepping into a time warp, in a good way. Good service and prices. It's cramped inside but it's frankly part of the charm.

Roy Sheldon

A Freaking plus for coffee and tea

ken froehly

fine quality

Allyson Smith

This is a New York institution. A great selection of teas, knowledgable staff. This is what tea stores used to be like. If you are nearby or care about tea you must visit.

Iuliia Koloskova

This is my Togo place for the good variety of loose tea. Love this little shop and people who work there are very nice

Peter Geoghan

They have been around a long time and have a great selection of affordable tea and coffee but they have insane shipping costs, totally crazy expensive. Why dont they use the USPS?

Max Rafferty

if you care at all about how your tea or coffee tastes, this shop cannot be missed.

Allen Keeler

Another heart of Village place. Not what it once was but still top of the line pick of teas

Angel Jimenez de Luis

This is a wonderful place to buy coffee and tea in the neighborhood. A store continuously running since 1895 full of charm and knowledgeable staff.

Doug Strange

Flavorful teas, great variety. Definitely a return to store!

Sarah Sayavong

This is my favorite tea shop in NYC. I've been coming here for years now. The loose leaf teas are reasonably priced. You're looking at the whole range of teas, from $ to $$$. It's a great place to buy 1/4 lb of different teas to try things out at home. I'm not sure about the coffee, but I've once encountered a couple that comes here regularly from upstate, just to stock up on coffee. So that says something good about it. As for the service, they're an excellent NYC establishment. There's another review that said the service was terrible, but I strongly disagree. If you're looking for a white glove establishment that will wait on you hand and foot the moment you walk in, this is not the place (maybe try Te Company). If you're looking for a place that lets you shop, smell, and peruse in peace first (then follow up with help when you're ready), this is the place. This is absolutely my preferred tea shop for the variety, knowledge of staff, and atmosphere. It's relaxing and no fuss but with the high quality tea I've learned to love and enjoy.

Kevin Rodriguez

This place is rare. Stumbled upon this when I was at a street fair. They have tea and coffee imported from many different places. Will definitely be going back when I have more time.

Virgen Hunton

If I happen to be on this side of the hill, this where I like to spend my mornings with a paring of a few cups of fine brewed coffee and doobs, with my laptop open feeling the AM vibes! Shout to Shaggy for putting me on!

Connell Fullgraf

This place was so good! Just loved the coffee and the atmosphere. Was a wonderful time and no matter what time of day you go, there is always a fine selection of things to eat and the wait staff are always polite and courteous. I will definitely come back. If you do go, no matter what coffee you order will be delicious.

Jeffrey Berger

Best tea shop in NYC, knowledgeable and friendly staff

Roman Dzhadzha

Always great selection of loose leaf teas and prices are good.

Lea S

Awesome!! The various smells of coffee and tea flavors are amazing! They have everything I could (and could not) imagine. Love it!

Graham Austin

An extremely old coffee and tea store. You can buy just about any kind of tea here and the staff is extremely helpful. This isn't a store, it's an experience.

Jennifer Evans

Great service and fantastic selection of teas and coffees.

SM Salmon

I stumbled across it by accident but it's a lovely little shop with an amazing amount of choice. The staff were incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. It is actually quite reasonably priced too, given its a specialist. If I'm ever back in town I'll be sure to visit again.

Michael Ocher

Very special place in NY amazing selection of teas and coffees! Highly recommend for any tea and coffee connoisseurs.

Ty Wise

Love this tea shop. They have everything you could ever want in a tea and coffee store. It smells amazing and it feels like stepping back in time when you go inside. The prices are really good for the quality of the tea. I haven't tried the coffee actually but my guess is it's just as fine as the tea.

Krishna Santosh Nidri

Lot of teas and coffees to choose from. Have patience to know about the tea/coffee by smelling it. #letsguide

Rich Ward

Walking in here you feel like you're stepping back in time. The selection us amazing. Literally every available inch is taken up with amazing coffees and teas. And, the service and prices are great as well. This is a great little piece of old New York and I hope it stays around for many, many years to come.

Christian Gomez

Best coffee selection and price in the city.

Francisn Bell

super friendly service. Local owners. Amazing cup of specialty coffee.

Homayoun Saleh

Great local place to find quality teas. Nice selection of both staples and more exotic varieties.

Alex Eisele

Absolutely wonderful selection of teas with attentive and knowledgeable staff

Greg Knudsen

Wow! The aroma of coffee and tea are almost overwhelming.

Frank MacCormack

Best tea shop I've ever been to, I try to stop in every time I am in the city. A tea lover's heaven, the selection, quality, and prices cannot be topped, especially in NYC. Go.

Dmitry Vereykin

The best place to get your coffee or tea; 100s and 100s of different kinds and brands. The staff is very friendly and ready to help. Last time I got the strongest espresso roast they had, and it's delish... Visit, you won't regret.

Henry Ingram

It's not a far cry to say it's one of my favorite coffees in the city. Beans are great ( Temple ) & truth be told, I'm addicted to their butterscotch latte - 1/2 sweet, with almond milk, and every time - they deliver with a smile. All of them, which is a f'in rarity these days. The coffee isn't the only thing that's warm here :) I just moved closer to the neighborhood and couldn't be happier to start my mornings/kick start my afternoons with one of their bevs.

matthew mckenna

I love this place and go every time I am back in town. The selection is great and you can pop the lid on the glass jars to get a whiff, just remember to put it right back! The staff is knowledgeable and can answer any questions or help with recommendations if you don't know quite what you want or what you are looking for.

Lara Simmons

McNaulty's has by far the best tea selection I've come across. They weigh it out, and sell it by the quarter pound. Most are loose leaf selections with some bagged tea selections. The loose leaf selections are broad and includes a lot of my hard to find teas from my time living in China. Run by a Chinese father and son, and all other staff is helpful and makes suggestions of things to try if you want, per your regular purchases. Good coffee selection too, however I tend to go for their teas.

Polly Anywhere

We moved across the street and could not ask for a better neighbor store❣️. They are knowledgeable and honest and make the best recommendations. Never want to live without them ☕️

Peyton Doyle

Such a unique tea experience! A cramped shop with tea overflowing the shelves. Staff was quiet but kind and incredibly knowledgeable. They answered my questions and then measured out my desired tea from its massive jar using this old-school metallic scale. Tea was enjoyed later and I can attest to its quality. Must visit if in the area & you’re a tea lover.

Anthony Robledo

Classic place to buy virtually any kind of tea

Crystal Butler

A wonderful old shop, crowded with all sorts of loose and boxed teas as well as coffee. The staff is friendly, but there is no self-service, so there is usually a wait to get your selections.

C Mar

Don't believe the review on here that says 'free WIFI and good pastries;' this is not a coffee shop at which you consume products. They sell beans and loose tea. And for that, they are PERFECT. Extensive selection, top quality, just a wonderful local business. Hibiscus 4ever.

Irene Hahn

This might be my favorite place on Earth. When I go to McNulty's, I feel back.home in NYC. It is like stepping back in time.

Bob Pauley

Grrrrrrr8 coffees and teas

Allison Wicks

Best tea store in NYC

Saravanan Kannan

This place has the best coffee and tea in NYC

Nathan Chang

Friendly staff that would recommend you coffee from their selections. Decent quality and cheaper. It's just inconsistent sometimes maybe due to how long it's been on shelf.

Patsy Mc Cormick

A tea lover's dream come true! I purchased incredible coffee beans and Lapsang Souchong tea, which is hard to come upon these days. Will be back!

Jerry Castanon

Got told about this from a customer of mine in the west village and this place didn’t disappoint. Overwhelming selection , but staff is so knowledgeable and friendly they walk you thru everything got some amazing stuff can’t wait to finish it so I can go back

steven Silverman

McNulty's is a little slice of old New York. It's a hole in the wall with the most extensive selection of teas and coffees in New York. Besides the extensive selection their knowledgeable and friendly staff are happy to answer questions.

Евгений Кокодзий

There's nice price and high quality.

S Ho

I have loved their coffee for decades. Rather disappointed today when, having spent more on shipping than the cost of 1lb of chocolate covered expresso beans, they arrived as a melted slab of chocolate. Their response when I called to ask about UPS was, we normally don't ship that stuff during the summer.... Thanks for warning me!

Nolan Orgel

Always like this place for their coffee and tea accessories, flavor selections, fresh grinds and just nice employees.

Juan Munoz

Love the low lighting. Gives it a Indiana Jones/opium den feel. In a good way.

Matt Milligan

The best neighborhood coffee supply shop.

Andrew Boxer

Amazing selection of loose teas. Fantastic flavors.

Alvin Ho

Great place to buy teas and coffee at a reasonable price. I've known the proprietor for years and they are some of the nicest people.

David Shane

I get all my teas and coffee beans here. There's a spectacular selection of loose teas from all over the world and a wide variety of coffee sold with whole beans or ground for you. They even have fair trade coffee beans.

Montse Ribera

The greatest tea ever. Many varieties and great produce.

Denise Martin

Came here to work for a while. Very chill vibe, good amount of seating. Coffee is strong, can't complain. Service was fast. And it has its own parking lot!!!!

Andy Ng

My absolute go-to for bulk buying teas from around the world. Since there are so many variations to choose from, what's best is that the teas are in large glass jars, allowing you to look and smell at your leisure before committing. The owners are the nicest ever, and I love the old-timey scale and packaging equipment used. Service with a genuine smile!

Jimmy Castro

Excellent location to purchase the best coffee/tea money can buy!

Nicholas Frazzette

Amazing little tea and coffee shop with all kinds of rare and hard-to-find varieties. Prices are higher than what you'd see at a grocery store but not outrageous at all. Also, the quality is out of this world, the staff very friendly and knowledgeable, and the selection is wide enough for everyone to find something. The smells alone from walking into the shop will convince you to shop nowhere else.

Luiza Sayfullina

Imperial Gold China Oolong is amazing tea for the good price of 15-8oz! Highly recommended :)They have as well good jasmine tea for only 6-8oz!

Lukas Simmons

I always get my coffee from here! It's great and they are always willing to help if I need it!

Onita Chaffin

This place rocks. An independent coffee shop. Fresh in house made pastries everyday. FREE WIFI. A pleasant place to relax, check out the original artwork, enjoy a great cup of fair trade coffee. I overheard a comment. This is the best latte I ever had. This may just become my go to place to chill and enjoy a Coffee in Uptown!

David weiss

Very old fashion ship with a great selection of teas

Joshua Wallin

World famous tea shop in business since 1895. Huge variety of tea, everything is straight off the tea farm fresh. Staff knows everything you’ve ever wondered about tea. This place is just fantastic and one of those New York institutions that can never be replicated anywhere. They also have a great coffee selection and sell a wide variety of accessories. Note that they do not sell coffee or tea by the cup.

Daniel Douglas

Favoritw coffee spot in NYC. Great variety.

Paula L. Fleming

I stop by McNulty's every time I visit NYC. Great variety of teas that you can look at and smell before buying, as well as a knowledgeable staff. The loose leaf tea is always fresh.

Sarah Poppy

They have an amazing selection of teas. I love 1001 nights.

Dutch Masta

Best selection of every type of tea your little heart could possibly yearn for AND the best pricing in the entire 5 boroughs. Forget T2 (they should have stayed in Australia and called it a day -- $13 for a little bag of tea, give me a break! PASS!) Don't know what I would do without McNulty's...second best place in the entire city of New York for tea is Fairway. Check it out -- you are sure to be pleased.

Connie Dolan

The staff is really nice.

Mikayla Chamberlin

The people are nice and the prices are good

Logan Schmid

Incredible selection of coffee and tea from around the world. Coffee is much more reasonably priced and tastes better than what you'll find in those fancy new latte art places. Very knowledgeable staff. A local institution.

Max Bank

Amazing selection of teas and coffees. Do yourself a favor and drop by.

Fayt Rodriguez

Best coffee shop, that does not brew coffee in shop.

Vernon Williams

Ginger Ball

You can't beat McNulty's for excellent selection, superb know how, and great customer service. Their large selection of teas keep me coming back

Dante Archimedes

Every possible coffee bean is available from anywhere in the world. Coffees from Ethiopia, Hawaii, Jamaica, Turkey, you name it, they got it. Many uncommon and rare teas can be found here. Friendly service and ground to order. Just the smell of freshly ground coffee makes you want to come back again and again. Near number 1 subway and the PATH. Will that be one or two lumps?

Laura F

Wonderful place, knowledgeable staff to help you. Great teas and coffees.

Todd S

Legendary coffee beans, helpful staff, a must stop location whether you are from NYC or visiting to bring home a souvenir. My favorite is the ethiopian harrar.

Criselda Hogue

Small coffee spot that offers baked goods as well. The guy who works there is pretty helpful and gave me suggestions upon asking some questions. Its a hole in the wall with some charm.

Kylie Pecord

This place was so nice! Reasonably priced and affordable teas and the staff was very friendly. They have all the different types of tea in jars so you can smell them and use that to pick if you don't know what you want. The Earl Grey blend is wonderful!

Jihan Nyhn

Friendly owner. Try the lapsang.

Ivan Kobyzev

Good selection of tea and helpful staff.

Sharein El-Tourky

So quaint, so good, so many options!

David Bosley

Been coming here for over 10 years - best tea and coffee shop in the city.

Crystal M

A great family own and operated shop. This place will make you fall in love with New York all over again. Oh, you better love coffee before moving here. If you don't, expect plenty of side eye and prepare to have all your opinions dismissed. Not to fret, this long time shop will help you on your way to becoming a proud continence coffee lover. You must have this brown liquid pumping through your veins all day, everyday, especially, if you want to survive this town with any resemblance of your former sanity intact. I come here for the smell. If you see me here standing with my eyes closed and breathing deeply, do not interrupt me. I will Mick Jagger you. And don't even ask me what that means.

Fernando Velasquez

Best tea in the city, hands down. They know what they have and they are very helpful.

Carol Aldrich

Quaint little coffee spot with a friendly barista. Coffee is straight forward and very enjoyable. They have alternative milks - a huge plus for me! A little hidden, but worth the search if you're like me and actively avoiding a large coffee chain and coffee that sucks. :)

Jessica L. Rollén

Adorable shop with a great selection of teas and coffees sold old-style in bulk. I love it!

Brianna Titone

Historic tea shop with tons of unique teas. I like coming here when I'm in town to try something new and get some old favorites. This is a cozy space that takes you back in time.

Tety Sarea

Best place in NoHo to get weed, I drive all the way from NY to come to this exact spot in actually on the way now.. don't miss out on Wake & Bake!

Allyn Young

Best place to buy your coffee and tea. Old establishment (beautiful and old inside) with the most knowledgeable owners!

Dasha Bad.

Hands-down best tea-and-coffee specialty shop in New York, with a large assortment that rarely goes out of stock, knowledgeable staff, and a beautiful authentic interior.

Randy Kansky

Fantastic place to get coffee or tea. Great selection from all over the world.

Timothy Hutto

McNulty's Tea & Coffee sells the best whole bean coffee and loose tea in NYC. It is worth the trip! Be advised they do not serve drinks.

Betty Corday

Wonderful coffee! Surprisingly fast for a pour over joint. Nice ambiance and design too.

Andy Kaylie

Like stepping into the past. The small shop has to be experienced. We were helped by the owner and made to feel like we were old customers. The coffee was tremendous and though we don't live near enough to frequent, we will be buying over the web. This is a dry goods store, they do not sell prepared coffee or tea.

David Jaslow

They have a great selection of bulk teas. The owners are very friendly and helpful. It's my go to place for great teas.

Yoonju Kim

While I generally prefer to go to Porto Rico for coffee beans, McNulty's provides a better shopping experience (never crowded and always helpful) and their tea selection is fantastic, bridging the plain East Asian teas and European-style blended teas, both loose and in tins.

Paul Putman

Charming with excellent selection

Steven B

100 year old coffee beans and tea shop. FANTASTIC!

Madam Jen

That was my first time at that store. Nice, but 2 blends of fruit tea that I bought had some kind of medicinal sub taste that I wasn't getting when I smelled them in store, so I assumed it might be the packaging, but three green tea blends that I got are quite good, although slightly overpriced (well, that's Manhattan). I probably will give it another shot. I live in Brooklyn so travailing there is a bit time consuming.

Shiv Jha

Great collection of flavors and genuine people who knows the trade!!

Erica Rogers

A very welcoming little cafe, fun and friendly staff, good bakegoods, simply delicious. place was cool as cucumber. A bit pricey. Good place to visit for breakfast or morning coffee.

Zachary XAE

THE BEST COFFEE

Roni Israel

Boy they know coffee. For years I was hocked on Illy's espresso but not anymore. Love everything about this place. Like going back in time to a perfect place. And.... their herbal teas are also great. Must visit.

Matthew Abueg

Excellent selection of loose leaf teas of all types, blacks like nilgiri, greens including pearls, Moroccan mint, oolong, reds, etc.

Neil Kelly

Old school tea and coffee shop. Excellent selection of green, black and herbal teas. I got the "1001 Nights" blend, which was amazing.

Jeffrey Marshall

Attentive, friendly staff, a wide variety of beans from all over the world, reasonable prices.

Yatri Trivedi

THE place to go for tea, hands down.

Jay TMG

Heaven for tea and coffee lovers. Dizzying number of choices. Love their custom blend coffees - special mocha java and McNulty's especially. Friendly guys - David, Wing, and Tom especially. But the coming generation, too. Like going back in time to be in their shop

Elaine Duke

My favorite coffee spot in all of New York. Hidden away off the beaten path. Nice ambiance. Amazing coffee.

Jamie Bichelman

Disgusting lack of service! Two employees (two middle aged men) working inside this shop, not a single customer inside. We walked in, both employees looked at us, and said nothing and turned their backs to us. Yikes. We left immediately. Too pretentious for our intended purchase of $100+ ; we found a significantly friendlier, better quality shop down a few blocks anyway.

Anjelica Mendez

NICE VINTAGE ATMOSPHERE,,GREAT TEAS AND COFFEES. FROM THE MOMENT YOU WALK IN YOU ARE EMBRACED BY THE WARMTH AND WONDERFUL AROMAS.

Philip Fusciello

Been shopping here for decades. New owners but the quality standards set years ago are being maintained. Charming.

Aaron Gordon

Amazing teas at very reasonable prices (depending on the tea) in a quaint shop. Really knowledgeable staff.

Tatiana Chistova

One of the best tea stores I've been. Lots and lots of teas to choose from. Good prices, excellent customer service.

John Lillis

Quality! Moderate prices. Great staff.

Haley Lindsay

Amazing, helpful, and friendly staff, delicious coffee

Stephen Nichols

best fresh ground and whole bean shop in NYC

Kjersti O'Connell

Love this local tea shop. Has a ton of loose teas - which is difficult to come across in nyc. Love how it’s right in my neighborhood. Super nice and helpful, too. They also have tea leaves I haven’t been able to locate elsewhere (spearmint, etc).

Jessica Delgado

Pretty Good

Matt Moore

Excellent selection for very affordable prices. I have yet to find another tea shop that even compares.

Javier Garcia

This place has all the tea. That's right... ALL the tea.

Stephen Serwin

The staff is really helpful. I've been going here for at least 10 years, always to get bulk quantity of their fruit tea, which is the best I've ever used.

William Yates

Charming old spot with huge selection of teas!

Timur K

The best place for Tea in NYC!

Tom Lewkowitz

The smell you receive when you walk through the doors is a sign of the quality of the teas and coffees in this tiny tea shop in the west village. Not very expensive and extremely high quality of teas. Worth a visit just to stick your nose in some of their teas and get a whiff. I purchased enough tea for 50 cups of tea and only spent 10 dollars. Amazing tea shop and coffee store.
