We have all the reviews of real people like you who used the services of Ground Central Coffee Company (Coffee Shop) in New York.
As of day the business receives a rating of 4.5 stars out of 5 and that score is based on 377 reviews.
You may have noticed that it reaches an feddbacks average is basically the top, and it is based on a large number of scores, so we can say that the rating is very accurate. If there are many people who bothered to value when they are happy with the service, it works.
As you know, we do not usually bother to put feddbacks when these are positive and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or incidence...
This Coffee Shop is included in the category of Coffee shop.
Great coffee and unbelievable service. Great way to start the day.
Nice Coffee shop, cool stuff, different seats and tables awesome
Beautiful shop with good coffee, friendly service and great atmosphere.
Love this place! Go there often to meet friends. Comfortable, friendly, reasonably priced food and drinks, and my favorite cappuccino in NYC. I highly recommend it.
Not only are they near two major bike routes, they treat you good if you bring your own mug. With my own cup 24 oz of cold brew for less than $4 (+tip)?!? I'll be back.
Great coffee. Flat white was above par to what im used to. Friendly staff and a funky coffe shop.
Great pastries and drinks (though light on tea options); awesome, library-esque atmosphere with comfy lounge chairs and sofas.
They have good coffee
This is the best coffee we've had in the state of New York! We bought some beans to enjoy at home.
One of the best Italian (espresso-) coffees in town! Let me explain why since not everybody understands so much about coffee...! 1) The sizes are Italian, not American 2) The balance between temperature (not too hot), mild taste (absolutely not bitter or sour), not too much foam (sometimes you get only foam instead of milk) and last but not least no cacao on your cappuccino: everything is excellent! 3) Since I also alway check first how they "manage" their sizes and if real cups are available (I think the taste is better is real cups, not in carton cups to go) here no discussions are needed, they know more about coffee than me, I am only a European coffee lover, but Italy-experienced! 4) The oat milk cappuccino is my favourite, even the Italians can learn something about it. Besides all of this, the atmosphere is nice and relaxed, especially the small "library lounge" in the back where you find comfortable, lazy armchairs and a couch. I totally understand why people stay over for a longer period. If I have to find something which could be improved: for my taste (as a classical musician) the music was too loud to be able to work or talk to other people at the same time. I'll be back very soon!
Good coffee but subpar if apathetic service
The nicest people and best coffee! Very cozy too :) Would highly recommend this adorable coffee shop for studying or just grabbing some joe.
Great vibe, nice place to do work with a good amount of table space and counters. Free wifi post right outside, too.
Amazing place with an amazing vibe. Whether you're looking for a quick cup of joe or getting some work done, you'll love this place.
Delicious drinks and an incredibly friendly staff. I'd recommend to locals & tourists alike!
I think the address was a bit off, but this place is amazing, and the staff are just incredible
Excellent iced latte and decent seating in Thia location. It gets suuuper loud inside though when busy. Restroom is all the way in the back.
Nice smooth coffee and adequate seating.
Great cappuccino. Nice atmosphere.
Great coffee! Both regular and decaf with a super friendly staff & yummy baked goods!
This is a good new coffee place on 8th Avenue. Nice comfortable space and good coffee.
The interior design is super cool.
Amazing drip coffee perfect atmosphere
I like the coffee in this place. You could try it. Very taste
This place surprised me. Its popular but quite basic and small. But it's cozy, fun and appears to be a meeting place. The coffee is great and the ambience. We ended up spending well over 2 hours here.
Great Chai and atmosphere. Friendly staff but I’m not Chinese
I enjoyed the single origin coffee very much. The atmosphere is warm and there's lots of wood, which is a nice change from industrial style coffee shops. I wish they had a slightly better selection of breakfast items, but they have some pretty good pastries.
Decrnt quality and fast turn around for coffee on your way to work.
Love this company! The shop itself is so cute, they have great coffee and food options and the staff is awesome
Friendliest coffee shop- ever!
Lovely coffee, pastries, service, ambience. One of my favorite coffee shops in the entire city.
Oat milk latte is amazing, amazing staff that can explain every aspect of your dink
Amazing machiato! Classic style, dense in texture, rich in flavor. One of the best I ever had. The place has got a very good vibe as well. Modern, yet friendly and cosy.
Cute place. Coffee was good. I ordered the PBA sandwich; it was delicious.
Place is well decorated, but bathroom is very dark. You can barely see anything, and for that reason it gets kinda dirty. Coffee was nothing special. Had an mocha and a hot chocolate. Both tasted like heated milk, with no flavour. Definitely better to get some at the Starbucks around the corner. Service was extremely attentive and well humoured. If the coffee was better, I'd surely be back
Delicious lattes, very friendly staff and reliable Wi-Fi. What else do you need?
Amazing coffee and great ambience ! Loved the latte !
The best cooffe ,the best invoirment
Great coffee, cool location and nice place
Great place for the coffwe of course and also for the good food and the atmosphere that makes this place a bit more special. I loved the staff too, friendly and efficient.
Great expresso. Well done barista. But check the pastries are fresh if u visit too early, as my donut wasn't fresh
What I like is the good coffee and the WIFI. What I dislike is the music which is too loud and which makes the whole thing not very enjoyable.
Really feels like home in this coffee shop. Love it!
I had such a lovely experience at this shop. The baristas are really nice. The coffee is great. But you guys should get a sign for the cutomers to take their cups to the bin when they leave. I see a lot of tourists that just get up and leave. This isn't a restaurant and the baristas shouldn't have to go crazy grabbing every dish.
Absolutely amazing coffee! Loved this place. There are a million Starbucks in NYC. None can compare to small coffee shops like this one. Thank God for Yelp! It saved our morning coffee desires
Great coffee (quality every time) as well as teas, staff is always friendly with a human touch that is rare for that area of Midtown Manhattan. Layout is cool with comfy vintage-esque couch and chairs in the back, nice for working solo or rendezvousing.
I’m from San Francisco and the Ethiopia pour-over was amazing. Good service. I haven’t tried anything else yet.
It was my first time here and I was impressed with the quality of the coffee. It blows Starbucks away.
Wow packed with people working on their laptop and bunch of nearby workers waiting on their drinks and a few tourist. I ordered a latte and I would want one more if I don't limit myself to one a day. The drink is masterfully crafted. Finding a seat isn't a problem for one or two people but I wouldn't suggest for bigger groups.
Horrible coffee. Dark roasted. Awful
tons of non dairy milk options, employers are so kindly nice!
Definitely not the best cup of coffee I've had, but certainly not the worst. I got a mocha, which they use a coco powder for. I usually don't mind this but it wasn't dissolved enough in the espresso so it was a bit grainy to drink.
Nice and clean. Good place to relax and plan the day.
Cozy vibes, great coffee definitely recommend the pour over. Super friendly staff. The canele is a must try.
Coffee was a little better than mediocre. Better than Starbucks but not as good as Blue Bottle or Not Just Coffee. Atmosphere was good. Cool sitting area in the back.
Coffee is great (not exceptionally unique but solid) and if you need a place to meet early in the morning, you can easily get seats here around 8/815am on a weekday- it fills up by 830/845ish though. Music was too loud but otherwise good midtown spot!
Really good espresso, vegan/vegetarian friendly non dairy options (oat, soy, almond, macadamia...) Friendly staff, hip place with nice window front. Pricy ...it's New York aight
Great spot for great coffee
Great neighborhood coffee shop with a nice selection of pastries as well as food items. There is a decent amount of seating for working comfortably in addition to more lounge-like seating in the back for meeting up with friends, or reading a book.
The coffee is very good.
Good coffee and music. Nice place to get out of the rai5
Its ok....nothing write home about
Favourite coffee shop from my visit to New York. Nice to sit in and Raine of seats. Food is good and coffee is excellent
Great coffee. Great music.
I keep coming back to this place because it’s my favorite coffee shop in NYC. Staff is so friendly. Their drinks are pricey but never disappoint. I’m always finding new drinks to try - like the dirty oat chai, highly recommend! Love this place.
High quality authentic coffee. Among the best if not the best coffee of Midtown West. Nice décor too.
Best coffee in Manhattan:-)
Coffee is still paramount at Blue Bottle, which is a marvelous thing. It's true that the shop at the World Trade Center is one more location in the ever expanding Blue Bottle empire, but here as everywhere else, the impeccable standard Blue Bottle has set remains, and the people truly care about their craft. Not only are they talented, but very friendly and welcoming as well. Although this is not a bargain coffee, and its airy, gorgeous, and simple Japanese inspired interior carries with it a reputation, it truly is a friendly place where one wants to spend time. And of course, what's in the glass is truly superb (the glassware is as well). I will keep coming back.
If you are working around the area this coffee hub is a MUST! It's brand new! Only been open a month, It deserves every star you see! It's so rare to find a nice cafe with friendly staff in midtown. My wife & I are here most days! I wouldn't normally write a review because it's the type of place you don't want people to know about. Get the passion fruit donut.
Best peppermint mocha I had in Manhattan
The coffee is awesome!
Legendary Nutella brioche. It's eggy and amazing! Great coffees with fast service. We stopped in a couple times and enjoyed the friendly baristas very much. Got a fun photo op with some of New York's finest. Head to the back for cool couches and a library to choose from.
Super nice staff, great selection. The barista was very helpful, and picked a super tasty latte for me! (Vanilla latte with oat milk)
Great if your looking for an alternative to Starbucks.
I enjoy studying here with coffee or matcha <3
Best coffee I've had in the United States of America. Kudos!
Great coffee and food
Not a coffee shop as much as it is a very chill space with a fair amount of seating and a select few comfortable seating options. These are obviously a hot ticket item in the middle of Manhattan, but the coffee is not very good. Espresso pulls are not consistent/burnt, the coffee (the bean selection) overall doesn't seem to be that great, and the cold brew is wildly uncharacteristic of any other cold brew I've ever had. I gave this two stars, because the decor is boss, but a coffee shop this is not... If you can swing the walk, go to Rex Coffee Shop a couple of avenues west and 2-3 Streets North.
This coffee shop is the place to be if you're in Mid town on new york city! the darkest place I've ever been but that's their style and vibes of this place are absolutely insane in a good way, ofcourse! :) Unfortunately, i repeated my order twice for "eat-in"/"for here" - and the guy still got it wrong and gave me in a take away cup. I usually enjoy my coffee more in regular cups than plastic/paper cups since i spend sometime in the shops I go to to enjoy the surroundings and/or doing my work and hence one star less. the people work here seems to be cool and very interactive - the cappuccino was great, I expected the prices to be cheaper than downtown area but $3.50 for a plain croissant seems like a lot - i still liked the freshness but would have a flavoured one for that price. overall the experience was great and hence 4 stars I would definitely go back whenever i am around this area again!
Came for locally roasted coffee since they are a roaster, and yet all they had brewing that day was La Colombe. The pastry was great. The pour over was forgotten about, so it took much longer than expected. I would give them another shot if I knew they were brewing their own roast.
Great place to work from on your laptop! They have a wide variety of seating and power outlets all around. The coffee, of course, is excellent too.
Seriously the best customer service and coffee! I loved the atmosphere on the inside too, super unique and cozy! Definitely will recommend:)
Decent coffee but the baristas have a bit of an attitude!! Would like to change my review in the future since I go here often.
A good place to sit and get some work done. Wifi, power outlets, lots of seating. Not too busy on a weekday afternoon.
Cool coffee shop with lots of seating . Great energy and good coffee, and tea. Pastries are decent.
Excellent coffee and a lovely space.
meh coffee, nice ambiance
Best cappuccino I've ever had! The vanilla bean donut is killer as well and I love the music and ambience. Cool spot!
Lofty, stylish place with good coffee and small bites.
This is an excellent place to relax and get away from the noise. The barista makes outstanding drinks and is very friendly. Just ask for what's good and you will be extremely pleased.
Best coffee in Manhattan
I was in New York for a week for a school trip, and I came to this coffee shop multiple times while typing a paper. The staff are very kind and helpful, and the atmosphere is great for getting some work done. I definitely recommend if you're wanting an authentic, NYC coffee place
Friendly coffee shop spot :)
This coffee shop was my favorite one in neighborhood but one of the barista( tall and big one) was really mean today... he didn’t wanna make it what I asked for + he got upset. They should know that ‘ THE CUSTOMER is ALWAYS RIGHT. ‘
Great folks, friendly place. Coffee is awesome, and the various baked goods are delicious enough to keep you coming back. Great seating in the back, comfy couch and stuffed chairs... no other coffee place in the neighborhood has ever attracted so many folks everyday.
We had a nice break here, the iced chai tea latte was really good !
Young, chill, trendy, artisanal, and classy place to grab coffee in Hell's Kitchen. Great music and staff are welcoming and there is a nice secluded alcove in the back with a couch and two 2-seaters facing each other. Great for conversation and catching up. Very presentable for dates and friends!
Great coffee, extremely efficient service, cosy space - I had been looking for good coffee in Hell's Kitchen for some time, and hadn't found anything noteworthy, until I came across Ground Central. It's now my go to for my morning coffee.
Being from Melbourne, Australia, my wife and I visited this place after searching long and far for good coffee. AMAZING coffee!! Great customer service! Nicole, from the 8th Ave shop, looked after our coffee needs during our stay in NYC. I wished we found it sooner. I recommend this place highly! We ducked across to Pick a bagel on the opposite side for some good breakfast.
Such a nice coffee shop in the theater district! The service is quick, there is plenty of seating, and the baristas are friendly and funny! They have a variety of coffee and tea, including nitro brew coffee on-tap and house-brewed sparkling tea. I tried a few pastries and both were buttery and fresh, especially the yummy caramel pear turnover! Overall hip, but not stuffy or pretentious! My only critique is that I wish they had a wider variety of flavor syrups, like lavender or rose.
Hands down the best place in the world to discuss chesticular perspiration. @curiosopher
Great view of people walking by.
Good space & service, decent food, but paper cups & plastic utensils. I go indi partly to avoid single use!
Great place and the workers are extremely nice
Very sophisticated and has a warm atmosphere. Staff was nice and friendly. Coffee was good.
Good coffee, tasty snack options and great atmosphere
Lovely flat white Everytime I go. Nice atmosphere and free wifi
Great place for a quick coffee.
Super casual, great for a quick stop, delicious chocolate croissant !
Great latte. The environment was nice. There was an appropriate amount of seating. I got an almond croissant and it was one of the best ones I've had. The owners/ Cafe managers were in the cafe and friendly which gave the place a cozy vibe. Cafe was also clean.
I had the hibiscus lemonade, it was okay, not the best I've ever had, but the service and ambiance was great! Just my opinion, I still say, try it out for yourselves.
My favorite is the city. Great service, virtuosic barista work. Nice selection of pastry.
I ended up not buying anything 'cause the food didn't look appealing at all and it was kind of expensive for the size.
Was hoping good wifi connection to work in, but found it very slow and the power outlet was so loose that the charger can’t even stay plugged. This place is loud even I got the seat at the window front. The matcha latte is okay, nothing special, staffs are friendly. I’ll say this is more of a place to hangout and chat, won’t come here to work again.
Neat little coffee shop, quick service and really cool interior! Coffee was wonderful, baristas were nice- can’t ask for much more!
Ground Central is a beautifully dark coffeehouse where people plant themselves like trees and watch each other, their phones and their books (in that order) in the after scent of bitter brews. Love it. Just when you think coffehouse culture is dead you stumble onto a place like this. The coffee is, in a word, amazing, but that's secondary, this, this is a place you linger. With a great couch in the back and wingback chairs you'll absolutely melt in, this place is the perfect respite from the manic midtown energy and Starbucks blues. Sure getting a seat is as difficult as getting a rent control apartment but if your lucky to get one you'll understand and proceed to sit for hours on end just on principle alone. Food is good, prices are a tad high but worth it, and who doesn't love a good pun when naming a place?
The staff is friendly and efficient. Delicious coffee and pastries. Nice decor. Best coffee shop in the area.
Lovely coffee and great service!
I found it hard to find a decent espresso coffee on my trip to New York. I visited a few highly rated places but none were that good. Ground Central offered the best espresso and the best drip coffee we could find. It's a comfortable place, the staff are great and the coffee is really fresh. The price is a little lower than Starbucks and not that much more expensive than a cheap place. I was very grateful for this place during our stay in New York.
Great coffee and great vibe
Great tasting coffee, as it's La Colombe roasted. But, prices are slightly high and cleanliness could be improved. There were flies on the uncovered $4-5 pastries. Look of the place was cool. But seating limited, making you feel like you're in the way, despite managing to snag a seat.
Really awesome coffee shop. Free baked good samples. Knowledgeable baristas. Good coffee. The video and interior are awesome. Clean and fun places to sit. Only down side is it can be hard to find a place to sit. All the people avoiding corporate coffee shops flock here.
A tranquil coffee shop that is only a few short blocks from Central Park and steps from the busyness of NYC. GC boasts the normal coffee menu but has a little more peaceful environment to enjoy both coffee and conversation. I ordered an black iced coffee and wasn't overwhelmed however, not much was expected with such a simple request. The case was full of an array of pastries which all looked tempting...maybe next time.
Great coffee with a variety of milk options, including the highly demanded oat milk. Not only is the coffee good, but the coffee shop has a relaxing and inviting atmosphere to sit back to work or catch up on your latest read. Despite the great location, their is typically space to sit. My go-to pastry is banana bread and they have a variety of flavors that also fit dietary restrictions, such as vegan and gluten-free. I’ve tried the banana caramel, but it was somewhat flavorless. I’ll keep trying and update if I find a good one. Reviewer is based in NYC.
Good coffee
Friendly service. Decent amount of seating. Great variety of beverages and snacks.
Good coffee. Friendly service. Cool decor. I'd definitely stop in again. :)
Great place for a coffee date with a friend
Friendly staff, neat interior and they make a great flat white.
The Baristas here are friendly and the atmosphere is very cool and calm. The only thing I don't like is...The Coffee. The only reason I went is because I have an app called the 'Cups' app which allows me to discovery different coffee shops and pay through the app so I don't have to use cash. Perhaps it is the blend that they used that particular day but it was quite bitter and the addition of extra scene milk did not help. But maybe you should come here and try the tea.
Great nitro cold brew!
Nice place to study and relax.
Great place! And they gave me a free croissant :)
One of the barista was really mean.
Great atmosphere, great coffee, great donuts.
Just outstanding coffee, that’s why I go here! Atmosphere is is abstract modern, fits today’s world.
Very cool decor, coffee is ok.
Had a croissant.. Average for an NYC coffee shop. Bottled water costs $3.00. Seating in the backroom was nice and cozy.
You have a good work place inside, not the best but good enough for people to work.
Would be my favorite coffee shop if the wifi works better...
Delicious coffee, friendly staff, comfy seats, tasty pastries and a nice atmosphere. Hard to beat for coffee in Hell's Kitchen.
Great discovery. Nice coffee, nice place and amazing doughnuts!!
Great coffee and a very cute atmosphere for midtown.
Person who rang me up was pretty rude. Chocolate chia seed pudding tasted horribly, definitly not worth $6.
Great atmosphere, great coffee. Love it
Great people working here. Great coffee, great pastries. Went 3 mornings while in the city.
Dark, relaxing atmosphere with groovy times and good food and drinks
Affordable coffee price and good baristas
Great alternative coffee shop .Friendly and generous staff.
Always a good cup of coffee!
Drip tastes like Folgers—hopefully their single origin is better
Wonderful coffee and ambiance. Highly recommend stopping in for a latte and book.
Great place with a very cosy feel! So many Manhattan coffee shops are cold and sterile, with no comfortable place to sit for more than 15 minutes. This place is VERY different. It is busy but the library in the back is warm and comfy. Very clean! Real books you can read or borrow. High back upholstered chairs that are not tattered and worn. Stools, armchairs, and tufted leather sofa with warm lighting is conducive to reading or conversation around the table. Out front are tall round tables and high chairs for two, but still very cosy. The hammered copper ceiling is beautiful. All in all it's just the kind of place I was looking for in my 3 week quest for the perfect Manhattan coffee shop! PS Great music...."Good Vibrations"
This is a pretty calm and hip coffee spot. It’s very conveniently located and has a decent selection of coffee drinks. I would note that they have a large selection of teas as well, for those who aren’t interested in grabbing a cup of joe. Though I didn’t try any of the pastries, they all looked fantastic. It was a little tricky getting a seat, but otherwise it was a very pleasant experience. I could definitely see myself returning here to read or work on a project while enjoying some coffee and their great selection of music.
Great coffee, excellent service.
The coffee is ok, but there is far too little seating for this always packed little cafe
Love this coffee!
Excellent place to get a latte, had the chai tea latte with almond milk and a bit of honey. It was mouthwatering.
