So one day we were walking from prayers back to work on Friday & my coworker goes "lets try this place out it says "best cookie ever" on the sign" ...I'm like ehhh...this is gona be awful probably who actually writes that and expects people to believe it. Anyway's though I'm big cookie lover and this cookie was HUGE compared to a regular cookie so i was like OOOOOooooo and turns out it tasted soo good that today on a random Wednesday I decided to go get this cookie & broke tradition of ours cause we only eat this cookie on Friday's after prayer. If you can't tell by the way I love cookies and they make me happy so this place definitely getting 5 stars for satisfying me. Definitely recommend this place. By the way this place is a little coffee spot with other ish too and my coworker & brother both love the coffee here too. So you now have another place to go to if Starbucks is acting up as you might have seen on a previous review of mine. To be honest I'd like to say it's not all starbucks that people are rude but sadly it's true I haven't been to one with good customer service yet or one that can follow orders in the city. Okay that's enough about that this is not a starbucks review but hey if you really think about it this place can maybe be your new spot, sadly it's not a chain though (at least not that I know of) but that explains why the cookie's so good cause they specialize in one place i guess and if you specialize you can be perfect cause you don't have to spread yourself so thin. Anyways definitely going back here every Friday as long as I work by here that is.

Excellent coffee with a beautiful kick, some people make coffee, others create a coffee experience. This is the latter of those and the line at the door demonstrates its quality. Food is also good and if you can get a seat, it is a proper modern feel coffee house. Well worth a trip to this place, it is excellent

I give this place a 3/5 stars because this is not the best coffee I've ever had, a staff member was rude and they got our order wrong. The coffee was good, but I've had better. It is better than most, but I think it's somewhat overrated. Also, you want to get there early to try some of the pastries/baked goods. I got there around 10, and they had almost nothing left. The staff member was rude and gave us the wrong order, even though we reiterated our order with him and the cashier. We wanted two regular lattes and an espresso. For some reason, he kept insisting we wanted a SOY latte. Maybe he already wrote it on the cup, and was too lazy to cross it off. Who knows, but we ended up getting something we did not want. He gave us unnecessary attitude when reiterating our order, and having us repeat our order 3 times. And then had the audacity to say we were wrong on what we wanted. The cashier was nice and understood our order.

Perfectly brewed espresso - but 4 stars rather than 5 as the espresso was way too acidic, almost undrinkable. A longer roasting time and perhaps a sweeter blend would likely make this place deserve 5 stars.

Finding a good coffee in NYC (and the US) isn’t a trivial thing. Culture Espresso, is defiantly now on my list of “go to” places for coffee. A professional (not automatic) coffee machine, quality coffee, the right hand on the milk frosting and a service with a smile and a fountain of sparkling water.

Delicious coffee and amazing cookies. For $3.50 you get a large cookie that has a crunchy exterior while maintaining a softer interior. These cookies didn’t keep too well, which to me is a good thing (no crazy preservatives and baked fresh). I had part of an oatmeal raisin the following day that was definitely still edible, but not as good. Chocolate chip is amazing!

I was on my way to a friend's fabric shop when I needed to have a coffee to beat down the mid-afternoon yawns... Never been to this shop before. And I must admit the coffee is really good. When I saw her making the cafe mocha that I wanted I kind of thought that she was quite haphazard with the milk but lo and behold when I got the finished product it was beautiful. As per my norm, I took a photo of it and left the shop. Just outside I took a sip of it. It was perfect. The consistency was smooth, flavors were clean and it wasn't sweet. Just enough chocolate to give you that flavor without killing the coffee. Actually, the smoothness of the coffee really surprised me. I didn't sit down for any muffins or sandwiches or any baked goods. BEST COFFEE IN NYC!!! I promise you that you will not find many places that have as good coffee as this place. The cookies are also pretty immense, if you have a sweet tooth then they’re a must. If you carry the Oatly brand oat milk I will most definitely visit your cafe. I got the iced oat latte it was great and omg their vegan lemon poppyseed pound cake was very delicious- you must try it! The downside is that it is a bit chaotic. So it’s not so easy to relax when most customers look stressed on their way to work. But I get it it’s the AM- and it’s located in midtown.

Not much seating so go when it’s nice weather and take your cookie and coffee to Bryant Park if you actually want to sit.

Best cookies in the area. It's worth the $3 you need to shell out for it. If you are ordering only a few, take a look at how many cookies are there on display. If the case is near full, they have just put fresh cookies. I don't usually buy unless it's more than half full. For larger orders they will usually fetch from the back.

If you are fussy about your coffee and like it done well this is the place for you. I'm an Aussie and can not live without great espresso coffee. A few years back when I was in NYC and sick of drinking the same old Starbucks dish water I went in search of a good espresso style coffee. Ever since I found Culture I've returned on every trip to NYC, I start every day here. Not only is their coffee amazing but they have some pretty great food too. Will be back again real soon!

A little gem in midtown. Didn't expect much, but ended up being pleasantly surprised by the cafe. Espresso was excellent and cold brew was quite good, albeit a bit watered down for my taste. If I'm ever in the area, I'll definitely return, and would highly recommend to anyone!

My thoughts on this place changed a little bit as the day went on. At first I was like "this is bad and bougie. Literally." I was disappointed I paid basically $5.25 for a small iced espresso drink that's one of the cheaper ones on the menu because it was SO small. It could have been an 8oz cup but it felt more like 6oz or something. I know iced drinks are more, and I didn't expect it to be the cheapest cup in the city, but the size was just initially so off putting. However the drink was really good, very similar to La Colombe espresso but not as good imo. I felt better as the day went on because I felt more energized towards the end of the day compared to how I usually feel when I have espresso drinks around the same time I went here. I would go back and give it another try but with a cookie this time since those are supposed to be really good but meh, there's many other places in Manhattan I rather spend close to $5 for a single cookie on. I'm sorry to be basically an outlier here, but this just isn't a 5 star coffee shop to me.

One of my favorite midtown coffee places. They make espresso drinks that wake me up and taste good at the same time. That may sound easy but not too many places can do both. Get the flat white if you want more espresso than milk in your morning drink. It’s a good rendition and easy to transport on your walking commute.

Good Coffee Pick in the Tourist-y Zone In town for vacation and business. Woke up curious if I could find anything nearby that offers an interesting coffee/ espresso. I'm staying on 6th and 36th so this was only a 3 minute walk. We got two Americano and they are delicious. It is a quaint little hip shop. They have baked goods from bakeries all over NYC. They looked great, but I'm getting too fat.

We dropped into Culture on 38th about 45 minutes before our train departed after seeing the reviews of the cookies. But after having nothing but morning swill at the hotel, I needed a real coffee. We were very glad on both orders. The cookies are rich gooey, full or chocolate and almost have toffee overtones. And the coffee was exceptional, rarely have I been this happy with a cup outside of Europe. But the real compliment goes to the two gentlemen behind the counter. They were very engaging of every one of their customers. This place is on my permanent list for future NYC visits.

Glad I stopped here. Coffee was good and served quickly. Prices were fair. Pastry was pretty meh, but 'Artisan,' you know? Not sure if I visited during shift change, but there were about 5 people standing around behind the counter chatting idly while 1 made drinks. Very casual, like on the edge of being 'too hip.' But whatever because there was plenty of seating, quiet patrons, an umbrella rack, and the place was clean.

Amazing latte, but the shining star is the chocolate chip cookie that I got. This is the best cookie I've ever had. It's a substantial size, thick, filled with chocolate chips, but on top of it all, it was served WARM. From the case! Their case keeps the cookies a perfect temperature, like it had just been cooled from the oven just enough to eat. I wish I had taken a picture of it. It's the type of cookie with an exterior just "crisp" enough to hold in the amazing, gooey, butteriness of the rest of the cookie. You need this cookie in your life.

The place was packed on a Tuesday afternoon and there were countless men happily gorging on cookies when I am asked in. Good sign. If you are fussy about your coffee and like it done well this is the place for you. I'm an Aussie and can not live without great espresso coffee. A few years back when I was in NYC and sick of drinking the same old Starbucks dish water I went in search of a good espresso style coffee. Ever since I found Culture I've returned on every trip to NYC, I start every day here. Not only is their coffee amazing but they have some pretty great food too. Will be back again real soon!

Espresso is on the bitter side. But otherwise this had a bit more character than other coffee shops in the neighborhood. Fast and efficient.

Baller espresso. Simple sugar donut is a delight. Chocolate chip cookie is heavenly albeit dangerous af for breakfast. Oatmeal cranberry cookie is perfection. Staff is friendly and they can crank out some delicious bean water.

Culture Espresso, an independently owned café represents Manhattan coffee in an area busy with lots of folks from outside Manhattan. For a New York coffee shop, the inside is surprisingly bright an airy, complete with chandeliers. The coffee is just as bright and cheery thanks to some high quality beans. I barely got out the door and down the street toward my office before I had slurped down the whole thing.

I think I had read about this in some list for the best coffee shops to take a meeting in? Don’t think that’s quite accurate as seating was very limited when I arrived, and I only managed to get a seat because someone left when I arrived. But the coffee was great! And there’s fast Wi-Fi to do work.

The coffee was ok at best. It was over priced because it didn't have that quality. This coffee shop has no restroom so I guess they don't expect you to sit a while and enjoy your coffee and cookies. The music was annoyingly too loud.
