Here you will be able to see the opinions of real people who have information of the services of Café Grumpy - Grand Central Terminal (Coffee Shop) in New York.
As of day the firm has a score of 4.4 stars over 5 and the score was based on 449 reviews.
You may have noticed that it reaches an reviews average is very high, and it is founded on a high number of reviews, so we can be pretty sure that the evaluation is very reliable. If there are many people who bothered to leave their feddback when they are pleased, it works.
You know that we do not usually bother to give evaluations when these are positive and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or issue...
This Coffee Shop is included in the category of Coffee shop.
Latte was excellent. Offers some gluten free and vegan pastries too!
They really know their coffee and do fabulous espresso drinks. This place is the highlight of every Metro North journey I take. Great people, tasty pastries, and the best coffee you’ll get in and around GCT.
Good coffee and service and you bring your cup and get a discount
Please go here if you want to be ignored... want to wait... and want to have them “forget” your drink. Had this happen several times. Their general manager... who I spoke to on the phone twice... promised me a coupon. Never showed up. “We’ve had some problems with that location” was all he could explain. The place is a dump and many other places eager for your business. Go elsewhere.
A grumpy face carries tasty coffee.
Nice to see they have the new Square point-of-sale , but it doesn't help them miss a few orders every now and then. Coffee is good, though, just stay alert in case they skip your turn.
Great staff & the Heartbreaker espresso had a very special taste
The coffee at this place is equal to the best you will get anywhere in the world and especially in New York. But be aware for $4.25 plus a tip if you drink it there the coffee is small. As shown in my pic the size was hardly bigger than a demi-tasse size. But the taste could not be faulted.
The best cold brew in midtown
Four stars for a tasty, strong, more-than-just-foamy-milk cappuccino, and one more star for serving it in a ceramic cup and saucer. Add in nice clerks, glasses and water on the counter, no crowd on Saturday afternoon, and a soundtrack curated by a knowledgeable rock fan and you've got a new regular customer.
I love coffee. So I am always excited to get some iced coffee to jump start my day, unfortunately once I received my iced coffee (I asked for it in mocha flavor) it tasted like chocolate milk. There was no trace of any coffee what's so ever. I am very disappointed. This was my first time coming here and I will not be coming back. Plus the workers were a bit rude to me. The only positive thing about this experience is that they were very efficient in taking orders and having the drinks ready in a short time.
Simple, cramped, fast paced coffee shop. I got an iced cortado with oat milk. Highly recommended. The espresso was very different than what I'm used too. It was a little bright and extremely mild. I encourage anyone in the area to stop by, especially if you're staying in the Grand Hyatt.
Awesome cold brew. Fast and efficient service!
Ordered a chai tea latte. I've never ordered a drink that tasted so watered down and diluted. Waste of $5. Wish we went to any of the other half dozen coffee shops within a couple blocks.
Great coffee! There was a bit of a wait, but the coffee was enjoyable! Service was a bit slow but the staff were really nice!
Great flat white my goodness! Well balanced taste as it should be.
Amazing drip coffee! First time trying Grumpy's. Stopped by after 6pm to get an iced coffee, and not only was it freshly made, it was the best drip coffee I have ever tried -- great deep flavor but not bitter (this was with milk and simple syrup added). Wonderful customer service, the barista who made the drink was very pleasant and friendly. The store itself is very clean (so important for a location in a train station). I highly recommend this location. If you're trying to locate it, the easiest way is from Lexington Ave (its the first store on the right in the Lexington Passage, aka the hallway just south of the Grand Central Market).
When it comes to whole bean coffee, while expensive, the beans here are great! This is a super tiny little place and they have no wifi, bit the coffee is very good
An amazing staff who will make you're experience better, if you are near to grand central you must go there for a latte, an americano, or a capuchino. You can drink special coffee too, in a Chemex, buy good.coffee, and also you can get water to your bottle, without buying a new one, even they will give you ice. The coffe is from Ethiopia, Honduras and Guatemala. Excellent coffe.
My favorite ice latte in NY! Great coffee quality, (no sugars or other stuff mixed). Love it
the drinks are good. one different thing they offer is adding matcha to drinks which gives it a unique and good taste
Best cafe in NYC (I've tried their Cappuccino with vegan milk, which was great!) and they also have delicious vegan pastries.
I love the Grumpy. The baristas are wonderful.
Coffee was average. Barista served 6 people that ordered after me, before me. Then when I asked about it, patronisingly said mine would be ready soon.
Don't let the name fool you. You won't be grumpy after you come here. Coffee is strong, baristas are friendly and the music is great. A good boost to your morning routine. A fan of orange merchandise and we have a couple of those in our office.
Omg..it surely has grumpy people making coffee!!! The women there has sooooo much negative attitude Gosh. I never thought I would say this, the cafe opposite (starbucks) is nicer!! Good luck grumpys!!!!
Just had a good espresso
Best cold brew. Oat milk. Beautiful baristas. Plays Chaka Khan on the regular.
They aren’t really grumpy but it’s pretty straightforward no syrupy flavors. I recommend the cortado.
Really good service and friendly staff. The coffee is really good, with a wide range of options. A small selection of pastries but are very nice.
Great coffee, especially cappuccinos and filter coffees. I liked the way the staff delivers your order. The ultimate stop over when in grand central station!!
Milk came from hell! Not the best service.
A pleasant coffee shop with good coffee and great music on in the background. This isn't Starbucks or Dunkin -- they don't have decaf coffee brewing in giant buckets! It's also small and doesn't have a whole lot of seating.
I visited this location because I had a meeting with a friend. The cafe was fine, I was pouring out my coffee in the trash because I didn't know if there was a place to pour it somewhere.. one employee comes to me and starts to almost yell saying "sir, we don't do that here" I said sorry and he keeps going on about how we don't do this at home, honestly this is too much for paying for a expensive coffee and being treated like some kid, its just a cafe..
Very good coffee quality. Now they know how to prepare an Italian Latte Macchiato. Not really common in the US. Just ask for it and enjoy
Great coffee. My wife's iced latte was particularly nice
Excellent coffee with polite entertaining staff. It is fun watching them do all these coffees and dance and call you when it is ready.
Really good coffee and vegan desserts. Great location in Grand Central Station...come off the train, grab some your coffee and head to work...the staff are well organized and friendly - despite the name!
If you're passing through Grand Central and you need a cup of joe, this is my favorite option. The coffee is always solid. It's a tiny space with a few counter seats up against the glass, so it's not built for lingering. There is a Jacques Torres across the way so you can pick up a delicious chocolate chip cookie there to have with your coffee!
Long lines in the morning but they move quickly and the service is good. Love their savory scones.
Pleasant staff and always a quick turnaround regardless of the line size. The coffee is excellent too.
If u guys r not willing to call customer's name when coffee is ready, why u bother to ask when we place the order??? Is that NY style?? I don't get it.
Darn good coffee ☕️
Great coffee & service!
Met a friend there, coffee was good. I stopped going to Starbucks early last year.
Love this coffee as always
Excellent Coffee! Limited seating and limited food options. They don’t seem Grumpy at all though. An excellent choice for a take out coffee
Don't come here if you're going to order a mocha choca latte with extra foam and some sprinkles on top. That's not what Cafe Grumpy - or any coffee shop that takes it's coffee seriously - is about. The staff are super efficient here, real friendly and engaging - bloody good at their job when it comes to speedy service without slacking on quality. They kept me fuelled for the long days and nights I spent in NYC. I miss them already.
If you like a solid cup of coffee, go here. Solid: strong but not overly toasted, average price, amenable service. Their mugs for sale are the classic Grumpy image. You know, a millenium coffee bar.
They offer a wide variety of milk and that is very important! The staff is great!!!!They even made me a heart on my Frappuccino!!! It was delicious
Great coffee
Really tasty coffee and good spot to people watch.
Nice range of coffee drinks, and baristas that are appropriately grumpy.
Good coffee but pricey
Great place, great coffee, great service! I always spend my breaks here. Make sure you try their Cold Brew+milk.
Grumpy is our people. Wonderful staff with great coffee we need
Their turmeric latte is delicious.
Very kind staff, good matcha latte. Their pastries are okay, nothing too special to me. I would’ve opted for some other pastries if you have time and you’re at grand central terminal.
Hands down the best coffee i've ever had. The Flat White gives you that JOLT you need to start your day!! Plus the staff is awesome they will help you with whatever you need.
I love this place! It is a bit small and gets very busy but the coffee is well worth it! I like to stop whenever I'm nearby and grab something. They even have yummy seasonal drinks to mix things up.
Best late
Amazing coffee.
Helpful baristas and great coffee. Grab and go service.
Good but not up to the price: The place is small but easy to navigate as the sitting place is along a glass iverlooking one entrance of Grand Central. The macchiato is strong as it should be but a bit bitter and the milk was added before being “foamed”. The decoration is simple but nice and the music is good
This is a relatively small location inside Grand Central. The coffee quality here is excellent. I recently went a couple of times and got cold brew and there were some minor issues, hence the four stars instead of five. First off, they only sell medium size. I want a large coffee in the morning to start my day. It is a big downside that I can only get a medium iced coffee if I come here, and prevents me from coming more often. Second, they do not put the proper amount of ice in the cup. The ice melted and the coffee warmed before I finished it, and I drank it pretty quickly. They need to put slightly more ice in the cups. Lastly, they did not fill the cup to the brim. Considering I am paying $4+ for less than 12 ounces of coffee, the cup should be filled to the top. Especially for cold brew, which is very often not combined with milk. Another minor issue- the cashier stamped my punch card for one coffee even though I bought two. When I asked for the other punch he had a bit of an attitude. However, he did punch the other hole. This is really minor, but does affect the experience. This only happened once though.
Overpriced coffee. No wonder everyone is grumpy.
The hot chocolate ain’t one and was very not good.. I could not event finish it.
Cafe Grumpy does great coffee the way we Australians like it, which is really the Italian style that established itself in the inner city cafes of Melbourne generations ago. Starbucks never flourished here the way it did in the USA. Starbucks began to invade Melbourne some years ago believing that the coffee nazis would embrace their style, but they lost and had to shut down half their stores. We like the coffee to be made from roasted ground beans expressed under pressure from a big espresso machine. Then steam and froth the milk. This is what you will get at Cafe Grumpy and they also have a range of milk too. It's a life saver in New York.
Came in for a coffee buzz before work. They have simple, true black coffee at a reasonable price. Great atmosphere!
No trip to NYC is complete without a visit to this cute cafe. I love the design and logo. The espresso is excellent as well
The coffee selection is good, but the pastry items are so-so.
Decent coffee. Cool logo.
Fast and efficient.
I like their matcha lattes but not the regular latte. The foam is really good and almond milk is delicious with matcha. They have very limited sitting and they usually busy.
Amazing lattes!
Good coffee, great but very pricey specialty coffee/tea latte-ish drinks. Efficient but not cozy space, and sadly is nearly always out of Oatly oat milk, which is a huge draw for me.
It's in grand central so it's naturally cramped. The espresso was okay. Chocolate croissant delicious. NO WIFI. And the grand central wifi isn't strong enough to use. Cute spot to watch the world go by. Limited seating
Delicious little bundt cakes and good coffee.
Good cold brew
Great coffee. Straight forward options. Highly recommend the iced latte
Good stuff! ☕
Best coffee in GCT.
Enjoyed my cappuccino. The restaurant has an adorable theme and interesting culture among the employees that is noticeable as a consumer. There is a small area for seating, which was appropriate for a quick break. Conveniently located in Grand Central, and good deviation from the usual Starbucks without needing to go too far. May come back again while in the area.
Quick in and out for a good cup of coffee. Many varieties to choose from...
I had a great experience at the Grand Central location last week. I dropped in on a crazy hot afternoon for an ice latte. The Barista was so into it, friendly and my drink was GOOD. I went home and kept thinking about how delicious it was, ended up buying a pound of Grumpy coffee at Whole Foods (I live in CT) and was also impressed. Thank you for a highlight to my city day.
Stop here most morning I pass through Grand Central. Usually a long line that moves very fast. Great cold brew
Love this coffe
Good pour overs, although they could change their beans more frequently.
Very friendly and attentive staff. Great espresso
One of the best coffee shops in the city. Can’t go wrong with a cappuccino from grumpy
Amazing

A used to be graat place, getting tired, which really upsets a guy looking for great coffee. Staff seems way too interested in talking to each other than talking to customers about coffee. The coffee is good dont get me wrong but dont go out if your way.
Great coffee... Great staff
The staff are very friendly and always good services. I love my almond latte is rich and creamy. They make it with love. Excelente.
Great coffee!
I dig the Grump. Staff and service are both excellent, coffee selection is great, and I dig the location. This place is my favorite coffee option in GC by far.
Best coffee place in Manhattan! Just love all Grumpy coffee place! Nice service and awesome latte!
I like their coffee, it has a strong taste. Also highly recommend the chive cheddar biscuit. Just with the prices were not so high but it is in a very busy and probably expensive location.
If you're in the area around Grand Central and are looking for a coffee fix this is THE place to go. The coffee is excellent, the staff are so pleasant, and they have a wide selection of milks including skimmed, soy and almond. I was feeling festive and recently tried the cookie butter latte which was beyond delicious, but the regular coffee is just as good. It's a pretty small shop, so probably best to be getting it to go.
Really lovely baked goods - the chocolate chip cookies and scones are delightful. Excellent coffee. Good service. Prices are what can be expected in midtown Manhattan
Nice coffee and a nice break on our self guided tour
We went because they do oat milk. They’d run out.
This is my favourite cafe shop in New York.
I loved this little cafe. Very delicious almond cappuccino.
Mild tasting espresso which was the first for me— and it’s actually delicious. I wish I tried oat milk to my drink (I got soy). I got a refreshing and light tasting iced mocha. A bit on the pricier side especially with the alternative milk. Staff are friendly and the space was small but clean with a few spots to sit if you wanted to dine in for a bit.
Excellent coffee. Best I’ve had in the US.
One of my favorite of the NYC coffee roasters, this location has robots to make pour overs, but they aren't always working.
Espresso was somewhat bitter but the music was abysmal. Never heard worse in a café anywhere on earth. Ruined the entire experience. Servers are anxious to look cool, ignorant of the dogshit music.
Very busy store but def stop by.
Nice Warm Cafe right on Lexington and 43rd Street.
Great coffee. I stop by everytime I go through Grand Central Terminal (Lexington Passage)
Pretty good coffee, nice folks.
Excellent!
Always have solid single origins available. Morning rush makes for a long line in a pretty cramped space. Lots of menu options, quality beans, good coffee.
The best espresso I’ve ever had, and I’ve been to a lot of different coffee shops. I go out of my way to visit there.
Their cold brew tea was excellent but the coffee was very lacking. Coming all the way from cali I was kinda disappointed.
Great coffee at GCT. The logo is hilarious but no one leaves here grumpy.
Awesome people and espresso
Wonderful drinks and friendly service. Delicious turmeric ginger latte.
Best coffee in the world
Best latte in the city... perfect every time!
Good Coffee and Great Service. Thanks to Tai and staff
Awesome specialty coffee, good staff, nice baristas!
Great coffee shop that has delicious baked goods as well. Everyone there is friendly.
Great iced coffee. Fun to watch pedestrians pass by in Grand Central Station.
Really amazing coffee here. I haven't been to a coffee spot in NYC where I was disappointed, and Cafe Grumpy is no exception! I love their coffee cups, their design is subtle and cute. I was very tempted to save my cup. The baristas here are very friendly and cheerful people; I enjoyed my visit mainly because of the service!
Great espresso. Easy in and out service. Friendly staff. Small, but comfortable setting to get your quick caffeine fix. What more can you ask for?
Great coffee as long as the lines aren't too long. Grand central is convenient except for the massive drones of people everywhere.
Very small, very busy cafe. A place for grab and go, not for sitting and chatting. Dog friendly!
The coffee here is really good and served in traditional American cups which add to the experience, clean place inside Grand Central and on one entrance from the avenue.
A nice little cafe inside grand Central passageway (accessible from outside too) with a variety of single cup brews. Lots of coffee merchandise on sale, and a bunch of bottled cold brews are also available. It has got a few seats on the side bar if you are planning to hang out for a few minutes.
Had a very nice iced latte and lemon loaf. Staff are extremely efficient but there was still a queue, this should tell you something.
Great staff, great service and GREAT COFFEE
Fantastic coffee. Seating is not very good for hanging out, especially with several people. More of an in-and-out place.
So good. Oatmeal latte is a must
Usually they're pretty nice but the quality is low. Good place to stop though, and they definitely have coffee.
Service is friendly, slow, coffee grwat tastings, flavors.
