REVIEWS OF Highway 4 Coffee IN New Mexico

Mar Fred

Nice little place. Takes way too long to get your food though. 50 minutes for three tacos and a fish sandwich. One other table being waited on with a couple of walk-ins for bakery goods to go. Food was usual fare. Deep fried, frozen piece of fish and a couple of spoons full of taco meat in a crunchy shell. The young man behind the counter, I think Hunter was his name, was very nice and accommodating.

John Paiz

I had the green chili chicken fried steak: excellent. The green chili was hot. We also had the berry tart and key lime tart, both were excellent. The staff was nice and attentive.

Dom Zuccone

And a half. If you're in Jemez Springs and you want coffee, you're going to Highway 4. Breakfast with the locals, I enjoy the baked oatmeal. Go early for bread.

Quinn Anderson

Nice people, decent coffee, stone cold gravy and rock hard biscuits. Couldn't even get regular silverware to try and cut through the biscuits. Grab a cup of coffee and save your taste buds and wallet the disapointment.

Pops Womack

Very good sandwiches a bit slow in the kitchen. Extremely friendly staff.

Cathy Steenson

Olivia Moya

I have only ever stopped here to get baked goods. My brother and I decided to have breakfast there last week and the food is not worth the price. It took forever to get my drink and the place wasnt that busy. I will not be back.

Thomas Kindig

We stopped in on the way in and again on the way out. The staff made us feel just like family. The BLT is pretty damned good. The fresh baked pastries are excellent.

Allen Winston

John Gardner

Stopped by for a bit to eat on our way up to the camping in the forest.

Dan Blackbird

Very nice staff. Food was good. Priced a bit high though. Good brownies.

America Mcmillon

Really good food! Took awhile to get food.

Joel Nossoff

Friendly service and excellent food. All baked goods baked on premises. Check the hours and open days in advance as it changes seasonally. Normally open for breakfast and lunch, and Saturday for dinner. My favorite lunch: the burrito with sweet potato, black beans and spinach. I simply cannot understand the negative reviews. Oh, also a friendly place to get destination information from the locals who eat there regularly.

Joshua Forman

Had a great iced coffee and an awesome veg sweet potatoes spinach burrito.

Wes Scott

Chris Marble

I like the food, especially the apple pie with green chili. The coffee drinks are yummy and wellmade. The downside is the lack of consistantly with cleanliness of the outdoor dining area and bird poop.

I don't think they wanted my business! I went with my mother to eat here and the only 2 places we had to eat were Los Ojos and Highway 4 Coffee. I prefered not to have bad food with bad service so we decided to skip Los Ojos. Well I found out that the only served in the Jemez on a Thursday is bad service. We entered Highway 4 and saw a few local customers in the corner and no employees in sight. We waited about 2 minutes before another set of customers came in behind us. The 4 of us stared at the short menu for about 5 minutes before I decided to look at art while we waited for service and my mother decided on food. After about 3 more minutes I realized there was a small sign and a bell that said "Ring Bell for Service." My mother rang the bell 3 times (first two not loud enough and after about another minute or so a man (possibly manager) ran through the wait area and said someone will be with you in a moment. After about a min or 2 a girl came out to take our order. Despite the 10-15minutes we had been waiting my mother still didn't make up her mind on what to eat so I ordered what I wanted, a Po Boy. The girl behind the counter immediately said, "I am the only one here so it may be a while before I can make your food." I asked how long cause I got time but not all day so I may be able to wait. She followed up with a quick, "it will be a long time." With that response the ladies that entered behind us and were waiting turned and left. Then my mother decided on a quiche so I doubled up the order and we paid and sat down to wait. After about 5 minutes we got our quiche. I was immediately disappointed because I personally haven't used a microwave in over 5 years and I knew they just threw it in the microwave. I don't feed my dogs microwaved food so to be served a $10 slice of quiche that was microwaved really made me realize though the food may look good the quality wasn't important. We ate our food and talked about our experience while I watched the locals start complaining about where they food was, who at this point had been waiting at least 30-40 minutes because they were there when we came in sitting in the corner. I use to go to Highway 4 in the past and it was always enjoyable. I am not sure if it changed hand or management but I really felt me being there was a burden and that they were to busy to help their customers. I don't blame the girl even though you can tell customer service wasn't her strong point, no I blame the fact that I entered the establishment and allowed to be talked out of the food I want for an equally expensive microwaved meal. So in summary, if you like eating hot/cold spotted food fresh from the particle stimulator and like it served with a "what do you want attitude", this is the place for you.

The woman who works here and the Giggling Springs is so sweet and down to earth, my friends and I were happy to run into her at the bakery on our way out of town! Coffee, hot chocolate, and treats were great, but the service from her made the whole experience! You rock, girlfriend!

Freya Loki

Exceptionally tasty food, great coffee, quaint setting, nice staff, great views!

Paul Clow

Very cute and fun little place! The food is amazing and the service is as well, the staff was really on top of thing’s and very kind as well! We will definitely come back here again!

Lemisha Fragua

I like this place. It can be pretty busy but its worth the wait. The pinion start is to die for. The lady who took our order was very sweet and pleasant. I've been here quite a bit recently.

Debbie Taylor

Food was great; service was deplorable! They "forgot" they were out of chicken fried steak so my friend had choose another dish a good 5 minutes after we had originally ordered. Her order arrived 30+ minutes later and 25 minutes later, my order arrived, after I had to remind them. Mine was an omelet. Almost an hour for an omelet.

We're from Alb. & ❤ 2 eat at hwy 4 cafe. My hub Jesse, daughter Iviannah & myself ❤ the biscuits and gravy

Great cafe, bakery, social spot for Jemez Springs. Large food selection and bakery is accommodating to vegetarians, somewhat friendly to vegan and dairy-intolerant customers. None of the baked goods are dairy-free. Located in the downtown. My wife and I walked here from our hotel room.

Lovely little cafe. Well cooked food and friendly staff. I took coffee and a snack here for four mornings on the trot recently and chose a Samosa each time, very tasty, the chef is Indian I believe. The Samosas come in at $4:50, a little pricey, a similar Samosa in an Indian corner shop in U.K. would run at about $1:20 each.

Christopher Hinojosa

Greg C.

A little pricey..free wifi though. Worth a coffee stop.

Jerry Hanley

Outstanding place. Friendly, helpful staff. Great coffee. Perfect pastry. Egg/bacon/elk burrito was expertly done, and the red/green chile sauces were some of the best I've had.

Bill Ogden

The Jemez breakfast burrito was delicious. ..meat and more meat.. not your every day breakfast. I had it Christmas. . Red and Green. . Both were good. Coffee was good too.. Wait staff is hard to find.. opening the front door helps. :)

Great coffee and excellent pastries! The stuff is always helpful and friendly. Service is quick (super quick when Jesse is in charge :) ) Love being there!

Shounak Banerjee

Nice and friendly staff. Food is excellent. Their breakfast samosas (spiced potato and sweet pea turnovers) are better than some of the best I had back in India. Their cappuccino was pretty awesome too. This was my second visit and their food quality was just as good. They also stock some memorabilia for purchase and offer WiFi and restroom usage for customers.

Dan Downs

Great food and pastries! The only place in the Santa Fe National Forest to get a milkshake! Staff is always kind and provide great service

Jim Manion

Great Breakfast Spot. With outdoor seating.

Matthew Butler

Michaela Negus

Overpriced. Don't get the biscuits and gravy (really gross and cold, gelatinous gravy out of a can). No forks were available. Flies (alive) and other bugs (dead) everywhere. Don't tip because you bus your own table. Tables were sticky and dirty. Grabbed the salt shaker and it was covered in some kind of slick film (ew). My husband's was good though, so maybe get that as a safe bet.

Tiffaney Hawk

Great little spot in Jemez Springs, with delicious choices for food and coffee, really pleasant patio seating, and even Wi-Fi in the mountains. Very nice people, too!

Fantastic service and eats. The counter guy, Jessie and the rest of the staff are fantastic! Try the Special breakfast Burrito made with elk sausage. Great single bean coffee too. Phenomenal food and portions.

Food is so fresh and delicious! Everyone is so friendly here. Skip the other two restaurants here in Jemez and just come here, you won't be disappointed. Small, quaint and charming gem!!!

Although not that many people were there, it took over half an hour for our food to arrive. My sandwich, which I emphatically stated was to be "NO GREEN CHILE" burned my mouth immediately. They had put put green chile on it. My french fries were COLD. This was awful and disgusting and a waste of time and money. (from the Mrs.)

Good latte but the flies in the main eating area are a minus,no napkins no glass of water, off the grid prices, too high.

Benjamin Rodefer

This place used to be a complete joy. Now it is a complete disappointment. It changed hands sometime maybe a year or two ago and has completely collapsed in charm and quality. The food is now pedestrian at best and truly overpriced. The staff, particularly the large guy who bullies other employees and customers are disappointing and distract further from the experience. I you went in the early years when it was totally wonderful, with fabulous pastries and fascinating curries and homemade soups, stay away and cherish your memories. Interestingly they have posted a review in their window that says about the exact same thing I am here. Really sad. Was a go to place and something we looked forward to in the past.

Good coffee, good food, hippie vibe! Reminded me of Woodstock, NY (as did most of Jemez...maybe more Hurley/Palenville; less developed than Woodstock but with that same earth mother atmosphere). Burritos were good, quiche was GREAT, chile was spicy, and service was super friendly. A+!
