Best tasting coffee on this side of town. Staff is courteous as well. Thanks for coffee and the great service guys!
There's a Dunkin, a Starbucks, and even a Krispy Kreme within the same distance (or less) from my office as Lackawanna is, but as anyone who loves coffee knows, these aren't even a choice when it comes to real quality drinks. Lackawanna makes an awesome cappuccino, and I've never seen as many distinct milk options in one place at a time.
Nice, quiet place with good quality coffee. The stuff is not specifically welcoming though. It's a really good alternative to the surrounding crowded coffee shops in the area, if you are ready to walk 10 minutes more.
Their Japanese Style Iced Coffee is a great summer drink (light, bright, and cool). They have some open-faced sandwiches and some various sourced pastries. It's my favorite spot for satisfying a tuna craving and getting some light work done. They have a decent amount of outlets and seating but it can get packed so groups and couples would be tough to accommodate during peak periods.
Absolutely loved my Vanilla Chai Latte. I’m not what you would call an avid coffee drinker or a coffee connoisseur but I can at anytime get a vanilla chai latte or tea. And the one from here that I purchased was amazing. Nice scene they have going on. Would recommend it to anyone that’s in the area or to any coffee people out there.
Long wait, ‘interesting’ latte art, very light coffee, but environment is good.
Looks like they have some great chai/latte options. A variety of bougie non dairy options but no pourovers for this coffee snob...
You should try Avocado Toast. It's simply amazing
Nice neighborhood coffee house.
The coffee's as good as advertised, and the decor and service make this place feel welcoming. But the music and the A/C cranked to 11 do the opposite. They could dial down the hipness while they're at it.
Great spot to catchup with people or get stuff done on the laptop. Indoor and outdoor seating available. Coffee selection is good albeit at a slightly higher price point when compared with other cafes in the area.
Get staff amazing rustic feel....5 star
Over priced
Very slow service. Waited for about 30 min for an egg sandwich which was given to someone else. Good coffee/food. Poor Service.
Until recently, I was only familiar with the Lackawanna Coffee located on Grove Street. This particular location is roomier, which is a big plus for those looking to sit down and do some work. The big windows also afford it more light. There's plenty of outside seating and little or no traffic. Hence, there's barely any noise or distractions. As for the cafe's offerings, I loved their Turkish iced latte, with honey and cardamom. It's delicious! The tartines are a good option if you're hungry. I was disappointed, though, to learn that they use Sabra hummus to make the hummus tartine. I thought it would be house-made or fresher.
Big fan!
Pretty good coffee, and decent place. The music can be too loud. I was told that management called to request the volume be increased and if I didn't like it to leave. I've never had a customer service person get belligerent that quickly and disproportionately over two polite, reasonable requests. If you require a quiet place to work, they don't want your business.
Great study space! Long tables and plenty of outlets. The Jamon is my favorite sandwich -- cheddar, strawberry preserves, and ham. Goes great with their chai latte.
As Hipster as it gets. Felt like I had joined hippie commune with the Jobless and freelanced yesterday afternoon. Pretty good coffee, and much more on the menu I didn't explore.
One of my favorite cafes in the area for a cappuccino! Good quality coffee, finger foods/sandwiches and a decent tea selection. It's hip, energetic and has wi-fi if you want to do some work. Not the best for phone calls since the music is on the louder side. Definitely a place to meet-up with friends over the weekend. There is outdoor seating when weather is nice and usually a water bowl for furry friends. Service is good. Staff is ok. Not everyone who works there seems happy to be there (or greets you with a smile). Nonetheless, they make delish coffee!
loved the sandwich and tea selection along with the unique interiors! will visit again soon :)
Will definitely come back!
Great coffee! Lattes are absolutely fantastic! Really cool small coffee shop that is homey. Staff is very friendly.
One of the best coffee shops in the area, good coffee and reliable Wi-Fi also. Can get a bit crowded on the weekends but its en enjoyable space.
Visiting Jersey City, great local coffee shop!
They serve Intelligentsia coffee. The atmosphere inside the cafe, the aromatic coffee, quiet neighborhood and soft music makes for a perfect setting to get some serious work done!
I’m giving 3 stars because I actually like the taste of the coffee drinks. However, everything else is an extremely unfortunate experience. (I’d like to note that I’ve been here more than 5x and decided to write a review after going today and noticing that the overall negligence still exists.) At entrance, don’t expect anyone to acknowledge it, no one did today nor has in the past. Obviously during busy times I personally don’t expect this at all, however there was absolutely no one in line and three employees behind the counter, 2chatting to themselves, the other on her phone behind the iPad “register”. We went to order and opened the dialogue first, with a very unenthused response back from the staff member, who proceeded to look down at her phone... After placing our orders / waiting for our drinks, we wanted water which was next to a pile of dirty dishes. There were no available glasses for water, so we asked for some, and when I went to fill it up with water, the jug was empty... We notified staff and they filled our water, but no movement on solving the water jug problem — making sense that there was pile of dishes accumulated, with flies flying around. It has potential but the overall feeling and experience coming here is consistently unfortunate.
Good coffee and light breakfast options, ie oatmeal to go. They get pretty busy during the morning rush with folks picking up their cup of cummuter joe. Nice little alternative if you're tired of larger chains.
Love this place. Great for coffee, chai, hot chocolate, food, and getting work done. Highly recommend the avocado toast and the jamon sandwich. Very nice and friendly staff, mostly excellent music, always clean and the wifi works. Also has nice outdoor seating for when the weather is nice.
It was my first time here, ambiance was great. Coffee tastes very nice initially. In the end, it tasted very gross. Couldn't even finish it. Haven't had this experience before anywhere else.. Seems like some issue with coffee quality or brewing pot.. Also there was no regular sugar there, used sweetener. That affected the taste a bit too..
Every weekend early breakfast and coffee place. Love this place, pretty close to newport and hoboken. Their coffee is delicious, some great columbian beans. If you like to make your own beans, get the intelligencia beans from here. Also their chickpea sandwich is just too good and super healthy. Recommend!
Coffee is great! You have various options for milk: macadamia, almond, oats, and regular milk.
They serve up a really delicious cup of coffee. I've never tried the food options, but the place always smells of baked sandwiches and coffee being roasted. YUM. The staff is friendly and the tunes are great.
OK coffees here and good pastries. I have 3 main criticisms: 1. It's REALLY slow here, even when it seems quiet and they have 3 staff. Don't come up here if you're a hurry! NOTE TO MANAGER: this makes it less likely I'll come back, even though I live nearby and love the location. 2. The toasted sandwiches really aren't that good. Like not cafe quality, as far as I'm concerned. 3. Coffees are OK, though I'd appreciate a "have here" option with a real cup/mug/glass to make it feel slightly classier and reduce waste
Cute little spot, great to work in. Nothing to blow you away but plenty to like about it.
I love this place. Great coffee. But music is very loud.
Tasty coffee. Nice pastries.
I live nearby and come here often. Coffee is decent. Food is pretty good. If you order food be prepared to wait. My complaint isnt with the wait. My issue is with the lady that gave me major attitude today when i asked how much longer it would be for my avocado toast to be ready. I spent 25 minutes waiting so i think i was justified for asking. I wasnt rude or obnoxious to her, i was simply inquiring. I stead of answering my question She felt the need to give me a condescending explanation about how there were other orders ahead of mine. And then i hear the two employees complaining to each other about having to be stern with the customers. How about being kind and apologizing for the wait? Nothing worse than spending your money somewhere where its clearly not appreciated. I’ll go somewhere else next time.
Love their selection and the Turkish coffee was great
Great coffee and pastries. Perfect for breakfast and nice ambiance.
Great place, my latte was perfect. Seating inside and outside. Also WiFi and light food. Enjoyed!
Food was great and the service was with a smile.
Pretty good coffee but crowded with most people on laptops so not so good to come with a friend for coffee.
One of my favorite cafes in the area. Don't come expecting latte art or anything but do enjoy some quality coffee, tasty snacks, a decent tea selection in a cozy, stylish space. Bonus for some outdoor seating when the weather cooperates!
Intelligentsia coffee served in a very cool space in the Warehouse District. We tried Japanese-Style Iced Coffee, iced tea, and a chocolate chip coffee. There's several communal tables inside and plenty more seating outdoors. Very chill, friendly spot.
Best coffee in my mind. But a little too expensive
Great service
Usually a quiet place for some coffee and quick food, avacado toast is great.
One of the most loved shop that opens actually early! I like their avocado toast and the ambiance is so great. The avocado toast was scrumptious, with a decent measure of fixings included and the bread was toasted well. Their espresso was …
Pretty dope spot for All your favorite crafted Coffee drinks done right.
This place has a great vibe and very unique coffee and coffee-based drinks. Check out the Dinocinno!
Lackawanna makes an awesome cappuccino, and I've never seen as many distinct milk options in one place at a time. The drinks aren't cheap, so I normally tend to order one of their specialties to have something unique (the turmeric latte is one of my favs), and the baked goods are a always a tasty treat if you're in the mood.
Comfy little place , delicious coffee. Nice atmosphere . Conveniently located less than three blocks from the HBLR .
OK, coffee but slow! I've come to the conclusion that unless you have 15 minutes to wait for a latte in jersey city you should just get a drop coffee.
Good coffee with a variety of options. Love the blueberry vegan muffins. A tad bit pricey.
Mildly unremarkable hipster joint with a wide selection of organics and fancy stuff to please the gluten-free, fair-trade, organic foofoo crowd. Came here around mid day and got a small Cappuccino and a Cherry - Oatmeal cookie to enjoy on …
The ham & cheese (jamon & queso as on menu) with the strawberry preserves is really tasty. Nice balance of sweet and savory. Good cup of coffee in a gentrifying warehouse 'hood. A bit on the expensive side. $9 sandwich, but it's quality. So you definitely are rewarded with a good portion and quality ingredients.
One of my favorite cafes in the area. Don't come expecting latte art or anything but do enjoy some quality coffee, tasty snacks, a decent tea selection in a cozy, stylish space. Bonus for some outdoor seating when the weather cooperates!
Great coffee hard to find location
We love their lattes.
Friendly, welcoming, and extremely low key atmosphere here considering that caffeine is their craft. Very tasty savory plates as well as sweets. I thought it a bit haughty that a note at the sugar bowl asked me not to add sweetener to the …
Great artisal coffee, with a great space. I wouldn't say this is an everyday coffee place, with the price point - but does have its place. Slow service loses the star.
Fantastic coffee place with great food selection. Rustic atmosphere. Very relaxed.
Reliable wifi. Clean bathrooms. The tastiest egg salad sandwich I have ever had. Oh and coffee.
This is a cozy place. They have very well done small dishes. Seems very popular with younger folks with their notebooks and ear pieces on. Friendly service.
Really expensive. Unfriendly service. Stale pastries.
Probably my most favorite spot in the area the food and and drinks there are very good and the service is incredible a great spot to relax and have a great meal.
I loved the coffee at The Warehouse Cafe. They changed its name, increased the prices and reduced the quantity. Rip off the customers right?
The mocha was delicious and the jalapeño cheddar scone fresh def recommend this cafe
Great local spot for light breakfast and coffee. Fare prices and delicious pastry. Try apricot cheese danish, it will blow your mind!
Best coffee in the neighborhood (Intelligentsia custom blend.) Even the decaf espresso is good.
Best coffee I've found so far in Jersey City. The tranquil corner of Jersey City also makes it a great place to sit down and enjoy a lazy afternoon. Both outdoor and indoor seating. Pastries and food menu available too.
Simple and good. I like the lounge music they play. Great coffee.
Went there on sunday to study and work. Loved the peacefulness of the place. Although watch out if you sit outside, theres a nearby gym that is half a block away but you can still hear the instructor shouting.
The tuna sandwich is absolutely amazing... have to try !
I used to be a huge fan of this place whenever I ventured across the river to JC. My last few visits have been a huge disappointment. While the coffee is good, the environment is lacking. Difficult to sit down and work for an hour or two with all of the pesky flies and bugs (fruit flies, I believe) flying around. The worst. They’ve taken over the pastry case, crawling all over the food (see video). Yet, staff doesn’t seem to care. While I like the location and the coffee is decent, unless I’m grabbing a cup of joe to go, doubt I will return. Starting to question the cleanliness of this establishment.
Intelligensia Coffee is pretty good. A nice place to work on a project on the weekends.
Their espresso was alright, and the mark one is a bit unreasonably sweet for me. Best shop for a decent chill place promptly in the first part of the day. I will return to attempt a greater amount of their espresso later on.This place has a great vibe and very unique coffee and coffee-based drinks. Check out the Dinocinno!
Such a great cute spot in Jersey City. Coffee and open face toasts are legendary.
Really good food at reasonable prices. Can take a while sometimes - but never regretted the wait. Coffee seems fine too.
Great place to go for a quick drink, or spend a few hours working. Lots of tables (indoor and outdoor) and great atmosphere
Probably my most favorite spot in the area the food and and drinks there are very good and the service is incredible a great spot to relax and have a great meal.
A great place to sit down for a few minutes when weather is nice. Their hours is not full time, the coffe is organic but tastes ok. Menu has many choices. Prices are in the top range for a coffeeshop. Chairs are not comfy but there are different styles. Cashier is not welcoming which is surprising for a small coffeeshop.
One of the spot that opens really early! I like their avocado toast and the atmosphere is so hippy. The avocado toast was tasty, with a good amount of ingredients added and the bread was toasted well. Their coffee was ok, and the signature one is a bit too sweet for me. Best spot for a nice chill place early in the morning. I will come back to try more of their coffee in the future. Overall a good neighborhood cafe.
Staff is super nice, sandwiches are really good, especially the egg and the jamón. Honey latte is perfect
By far the best coffee in the area and a great selection of food.
Really great food. Good ingredients and very good coffee. There was no low carb options but the food was still awesome.
Cozy little place. Ordered the flat white/cortado. It was okay.
Great coffee and pastries
A cozy little shop! There’s a couple of location in Downtown jersey city, but this one is a little tucked away and this not as crowded as the one on Grove st!
The place is packed on the weekends, but they have some tasty bites and decent drip coffee.
Been to both locations this is my favorite one
The location is a bit off the beaten path but was hopeful due to the decent Google rating. At first entry it looked like the quintessential "hippie" coffee bar - exactly what I wanted. Organic coffee... great! The first time I go to any new coffee shop I be sure and just get a regular coffee so I don't cover it up with steamed milk (latte, cappuccino, etc), or any syrups or chocolate like a Mocha. At first I liked the coffee but toward the end of my cup it seemed to contain a bit of a rancid flavor. Like a moldy taste. Unfortunately coffee is very prone to molds and toxins. So although it was organic, the quality and handling the beans seemed to be affected. The place has promise and it could have just been that batch, the coffee pot, or other factors which is why I'm giving it 3 stars as the underlying ambiance of the place along with initial taste was great.
Great vibes. Great place.
It's cool, little over priced. Interesting drink choices. I tried the the Turkish iced coffee...pretty good although if I come back, I'll rather get something else.
My favorite coffee place in the entire world. They have the best coffee, original playlists and amazing sandwiches, some pastries and great teas. Friendly and relaxed serving. Not too pricey, and a cool interior design. Can get a little crowded at times tho. Not too much healthy lunch options like salads, if I have to give a downside.
Great panini or if it;s early get some toast with avocado, yum. this place opens real early too which is nice.
A nice little neighborhood cafe. Has some great tea collection. Finding a spot may be hard with it becoming popular
