The coffee is decent and the atmosphere is "chill". It's like you walked into a time warp and suddenly appeared in 1994. This could be a good or bad thing depending on your tastes. No one chair in the house is the same, and i find myself questioning how clean the draperies are that are hanging from the ceiling.

I’ve always loved this place but it’s been few months since my last visit. I was so disappointed! Customer service was terrible. I was told the kitchen was closed so nothing was available. The big guy at the counter didn’t even make eye contact or said thanks. He was so rude. I won’t be back.

Took 4 teenage girls to get iced coffee & check out open mic night (2 white, 1 black, 1 Lebonese Muslin wearing a hajib). We all made purchases. The Guy (owner?) charges the black & Lebonese girls a $3.00 cover charge!? (SMH) I went to the counter & asked him why the girls were charged an extra $3 and why were their hands stamped? The guy said, "...to help defer the cost of the man who runs the open mic". Yet - I was not charged, I did not see anyone else with a stamp on their hand, nor did I see anything anywhere stating there is a cover charge. The girls were upset & I was disgusted and LOUD about the whole situation. Probably to shut me up - the guy came over to us & gave the money back. Draw your own conclusion!

Great food, great people, great atmosphere, just all around great. Always a good experience. The staff is friendly and helpful and it is always a pleasure having conversations with them. Highly recommend the Peach-Hibiscus tea and anything dessert. When they have them, the matcha caramels are wonderful. And you can't go wrong with a name like Cool Beans, as others have said, it really is.

Really uncool to lie to a customer that your kitchen is open when it isn't. Cool Beans is a great place to just come and hang out, but doesn't stand out otherwise. The coffee is fine, and the pastries bog-standard. Service tends to be extremely slow.

Cool Beans is not the same place as in the mornings when it comes to good service. I was at first taken care of by a young lady who took my and my friends’ drinks order. However, not only did she looked at me suspicious like I wasn’t over 21, but she even made a comment when I requested a dessert with alcohol. “You already have it on you drink”, that answer was rude. But I ignored it and decided to get a carrot cake. The carrot cake is another story. I understand they forgot it and were busy. At least the man apologized and went to serve it to us, which was nice of his part. The lady, nope, when she saw me waiting she didn’t say a word as it seemed she avoided interaction. The drinks and dessert were good but her attitude was a negative.

I willl continue to go to this place because it is the only coffee shop on this end of Bergen County BUT I’m truly disappointed by the changes which have occurred since this place became a bar. Slowly but surely it’s feeling less and less like the awesome coffee shop it was. No morning hrs, rude bar staff... even no coffee some nights! ...I miss the good old days. Or at the very least, I wish the cafe aspect of this place was not neglected!

Thank goodness for Cool Beans! You can get real lattes and other espresso drinks here. It might be a bit of drive, but I'd do just anything to get a delicious non-Dunkin Donuts coffee. Great atmosphere and a decent selection of food and snacks.

A very fun coffee shop that turned out to be much more. It's set up to feel very inviting and comfortable. The coffee I had was great, but the atmosphere sold me. Next time I'm in the area this is where I will be sure to check it out. It's also easy to see how it functions as a bar/cafe at night. Very cool.

I grew up in this area and the only thing close to a late-night coffee trough were the diners NJ is famous for. This joint includes adult beverages and a healthy mix of working class and professionals. Somewhat eclectic milieu and random seating, they do teas and food. I wouldn't be surprised if there was a tattoo artist floating around.

I went in for a simple cup of tea..The girl that was working there..Doubled the cup and said it was hot..I didn't question it while i was there, but even after 15 minutes I took a sip and burned my damn tongue..I was Po'd like no ones business & this is after I put milk in it...I will never step foot back in there...The water first of all should never be that hot period...!!!!! Horrible 1st experience!!!!

In one sentence: this place is like if a pub decided to serve coffee during the day. That's the feeling of the place. There were both positive and negative aspects. The latte was tasty but it was served in clunky large mugs instead of proper latte cups, and there were no saucers. The tropical Greek salad's flavors did not go well together. There were not a lot of vegetarian options, but there were not a lot of options overall. The tables are covered in faded, aging red laminate and the mismatched chairs don't really look quaint, just cheap. There's a large neon mural on one wall. It's a beautiful piece of art but doesn't mesh with any other design element in the place. The staff was nice. The tea selection is nice. I wouldn't choose to make this my regular spot but it wasn't bad.

Went there to listen to music, I have been there for coffee before, I like the atmosphere, I have to give the food a try next time, they have a liquor license, wasn’t that crowded band was in back room, on a warm night the outside tables must be great, they have a real great lineup of talent coming in to play so I will return

Honestly the place has good food, coffee, and creative cocktails. The problem is the owner or someone let's their kids run around like they are acting out a scene from Lord of the Flies. This essentially makes it impossible to enjoy a cup of coffee, read a book, do work, etc. To give you an example, I watched about 4 kids unwind an entire roll of masking tape and place it everywhere while simultaneously throwing straws. This hasn't been a one time event either. The past 3 times I've come it's been the same thing. If you want to come late at night for a few drinks totally go for it! If you want to come here midday on a weekend to do some work, stay home!

My partner and I love coffee shops that are out of the norm. We always try and explore different places and this one seemed like a cool place to visit. We drove about an hour to get there. Once we arrived, There was a big fella(don’t know his name). We asked for a menu and he said that the kitchen was closed so there was no food. Then, we asked for a coffee menu or what drinks can be made you know that’s what they’re known for and he just pointed at the menu in front of the register which was only coffees. He was very rude and it was as if he did not want to help us out. We ended up ordering ice lattes since we didn’t know what they had. We felt so out of place and we didn’t even order pastries because we felt like this guy didn’t want us there at all. Someone else walked in and I’m guessing he knew him and he was very chatty with him. However, with us he was the total opposite. Very rude and we felt discriminated.

PROS: when I walked into the place it gave me a "Starbucks," feeling! Very comfortable, a great place to sit down and socialize or work. The menu has every beverage (including alcohol), breakfast items, deserts, etc. the employees are very nice and the prices are good CONS: the place is a little run down and cramped on the inside. Definitely needs a touch up. If there was a long line it would be hard to move around in the place. The service is a little slow, and on top of all that there is hardly parking. OVERALL: the place is a great place with a wide variety of good quality items at great prices being served to you by upbeat people. It's slow, cramped, and has no parking, but if you don't mind those I suggest going.

Come here. The atmosphere is amazing. Not only do they have the regular cappuccinos, lattes but they're very creative with their lattes like the peanut butter mocha latte. They had lava cakes while I went and lots of pastries and cupcakes. They have a huge variety of teas and every other Sundays they will have live music by a local teenager, which is great. As a fellow musician I am always for promotion of music for the youth.

Called to see if they were handicap accessible and told yes. Got there the ramp went to a door blocked by a table. Horrible coffee and staff was very cold. Ordered sandwiches and was told we can make them but we don't have any tomatoes for them. The only good thing was the salad I had. So 1 out of 6 lunches was good.

Andrea is exceptional in her craft of beverage and foods, and Chris has created a fluid environment to eat, drink, study, reflect and rejoice. Nice place to sit and talk or do some work. I love the layout. The food is a bit pricey and parking is limited but its worth it. Om my way now.....lol
