This Coffee Shop corresponds to the category of Coffee shop.
Coffee was good. Prices are ok considering the location. $14.75 for two ice lattes and a croissant.
Super friendly staff. Great coffee (particularly their cold brew). Though it's worth noting that there is no free wifi available here.
This is not a proper qortado. The espresso tastes a bit burned. Barista attitude is not the best especially when I told her that the qortado has too much milk. I was expecting something much better. Definitely will not be back here again
frendly and great coffee.
Best coffee I had in NYC! Very skilled barista and nice people!
Homey. Good coffee. Nice staff. Pretty chill atmosphere
Cozy coffee shop. The proximity to Madison Sq makes it touristy and very noisy. Spotty wifi, hence not very reliable for hanging out with a laptop. Overall, I'd suggest their UES location, because the coffee quality is good
Nothing special.. Looks better than it tastes. The music is too loud and the place can get crowded so you might not get a seat. Not the best place to work/study there's no wifi or a power outlet. Also, staff is often yelling which i found weird...
Very good coffee. Try to take a seat close to the bookcase.
Normal coffee, normal pastry. I would not make a huge fuzz about the place, but all in all for a quick-bite and a spot near Madisson park - I'd say "go for it". It's a decent alternative for a Starbucks :)
Birch coffee is great, I only wish that it was a little larger so that it would be easier to find a seat, I think that the coffee is outstanding, it is very flavorful and delicious. The service is quick and when you can find a seat it is a good place to have a meeting and to chat. I highly recommend this place!!
No wifi and they don't heat up the croissants, but good atmosphere and good coffee.
They're extremely clean and their coffee is fantastic.
This cafe was an accidental, but amazing find. I loved it! The staff were very friendly. The cold brew tasted amazing. And the ambience was very chill and cosy. There were even cards on the counter to signal if you would be happy to converse with strangers (I'm not familiar with the NYC cafe scene, but I thought this was a brilliant idea!). I didn't like how there was no separate bin for plastics though.. I visited twice: the first time, the cafe was pretty packed, but the second time, I had no trouble finding a seat.
The coffee was good and I like the seating layout. I was there pretty late but it was not crowded at all.
So much oatley...
My go to..
Such a nice place to stay and have a coffee break, cozy place, the ambiance is nice. Cleanliness approved and they have wonderful coffee.
The coffee is strong, the iced teas are cool and delicate, and the place is great to catch up with friends or studying.
Very good cortado. This place is always so crowded that I never had time to wait. So glad the timing worked out this time. And they take Apple Pay!
I'm leaving this review because I saw Paul and Jeremy in a Cheddar video. They were so conceited and snobby, I'm going to go buy a big can of instant coffee and drink it all week. They singlehandedly caused all the downvotes for the video.
A great looking and friendly coffee shop. The coffee wasnt great. Tasted like it had been out a while with a weak watery taste. Milk in the flat white was full of bubbles.
My favorite coffee shop in the city that sometimes have issues with its music selection. Loud trance/techno music pouring out from the speakers isn't what I would choose. Quite often way too hot lattes, but otherwise excellent espresso.
Fantastic coffee, ever better staff. Seating is a little limited, but better than many of the shops in the neighborhood.
No WiFi. The espresso was great but not sure why a coffee shop wouldn't have WiFi since I assume a lot of people go to get work done or study.
Love this spot. Their cold brew pour over neat is absolute heaven!
Great place, kept me caffeinated during my 1 week stay.
Decent coffee collection, friendly staff, good and small area place to sit and work or meet and talk for 2-3 people groups.
Awesome coffee, feels like real coffee in first sip
Nice spot. No internet. :(
Great coffee, kind service, some pre-packaged food options as well as fresh pastries, and a little bit of seating too.
No wifi, no plugs to charge anything, maybe one shot of espresso in my iced latte. Paid $5.25 for iced milk. Music’s too loud, too. Don’t get why this has a high rating. Would’ve been better off at Starbucks.
Pastry is ok No effort goes into welcoming customers even if everywhere it says that Birch Loves you... Coffee is average, could be better considering the price And what’s the story with all of these people sitting down and having takeaway cups??!! It’s a disgrace and the cafe owners should encourage people bringing their own mugs or having cheaper coffees for whom sit down. Clearly these people aren’t bothered at all to be a bit more sustainable...
Comfortable atmosphere and delicious Chai latte. I'm adding this place to my favorites.
Loved the interior, really cosy atmosphere. Coffee is very good too.
Awesome coffee , try mocha with oats milk!
Love Birch. Great coffee beans at a very good price. Excellent espresso drinks. Adequate bakery and food menu. Wine and beer available in the evenings. Great staff.
Serving good coffee. The place is spacious enough to accommodate people - there’s a communal desk so people can share. But there’s no wifi so either come here to read, to talk to friends, or do work.
It is a nice cafe with a constant coffee flavor.
Nice coffee buzz.. .smooth lattes. No bitterness. .good coffee shop ambience...best coffee ever !
Finally I find a place where I can sit and enjoy the taste of coffee. They are one of the best coffee shops in manhattan
These dudes rum a chill shop, and know their beans! To me, the coffee had more cocoa and nut tones, which is great and a smooth finish! What sold this place, for me, though, is the staff! They were superb and gave me recommendations for other places, to go get authentic NY food! Good job guys!
This coffee shop isn't ideal for working, they do not offer wifi. Staff isn't too friendly either, however the place looks great. If you're looking to read or chat with a friend this may be an ok spot, however is try elsewhere.
Cute place, very good coffee, friendly baristas. No outlets to be seen, but they have free WiFi and didn't seem to mind my laptop studying. I had fun people-watching out the window as well.
Really good latte
Good espresso, friendly staff, cozy atmosphere. Had a nice time here on a cold winter morning.
Great coffee nice environment
They have REAL loose-leaf high quality tea. God bless them! Why can’t every coffee shop serve real tea??
I dont love coffee but this place makes awesome coffee!!! Really wonderful and the staff was all really nice.
Great place for coffee and pastries. Loved the atmosphere here. There is even an area that looks like a small library. It's a great place for meeting up with friends but I wouldn't recommend it for studying. I went there to work on homework but it was very noisy and also keep in mind that Birch Coffee is a "wifi-free business." Otherwise, I highly recommend it!
The ricotta kale and spinach croissant was great as well as the almond croissant! The black iced tea was also good. No WiFi.
Some of the best coffee in the city. Very fresh And frothy just how I like my latte. Apparently the coffee is roasted daily over in Long Island city and it sure taste like it! Go here for an excellent latte! Also the staff is cool and the place is gorgeous inside with lots of room to sit, work or meet friends.
One of the highlights of my NYC trips are mochas from Birch. They are, like, hella good you guys.
This is definitely a must try place if you're in New York! I had a cappuccino, a cold brew, and one of their sandwiches! Seamless, accommodating and kind service! I will be back when visiting again!
I'm from Melbourne and we know and love our coffee there so when we come to the USA it's hard to find good coffee. I was so excited when staying in NYC to find amazing coffee. I go every day and usually have two cups!!! It's as good as any great coffee back home and I'm lucky it's only a few doors down from my hotel
Great coffee, my fav is cappuccino with oat milk
My favorite coffee in the city. Cozy place, friendly staff, quality drinks.
Good espresso and great drip. Quiet at 9am but very busy between 4-5pm. It is possible to work there.
The coffee is always good, although a little neutral (I prefer a slightly more bracing cup). The selection of pastries is also pretty solid.
Great cold brew and nice environment!
Such amazing coffee and fast service
Loved the fresh coffee and the pastries, service is very friendly and the place is beautiful, feels like you’re at home with your cup of coffee
Nice coffee, nice place if you need coffee and you're in the flat iron area it's well worth a visit!
Great cafe with good pastries here. Space is cozy, so be prepared to be part of your neighbors conversations. The tea selection needs to be expanded here.
Ordered an iced mocha with hemp and another with oat milk. As a strong hater of oat milk, I was pleasantly surprised at how wonderful it was, so I recommend both milk alternatives.
Good coffee. The espresso combines with it well and makes a great red eye! The muffins were also good!
Great coffee and vibe.
Great coffee shop that takes pride in their product! It gets busy so not a place to relax and hide with a book or work. Seating is limited but it's worth a quick visit.
Cute little coffee shop. I wish I had taken a picture of the unique handmade coffee mugs that they have for sale. Coffee was delicious.
A cozy spot with good coffee and a nice nook to work in.
Loved the vibe here. Wonderful cortado!
This cute coffee shop is buzzing with folks drinking coffee, having casual business meetings and typing away on their laptops doing work. It's a nice place to grab a latte and crank out some work!
Good coffee.. friendly service.. peaceful atmosphere.. Not much more you can ask for in a coffee spot. I recommend if you're in the area and in need of caffeine.
Mocha is my all time favorite drink and this place , particularly this location though, never disappoints me. Nice and cozy coffee shop.
It’s a nice spacious coffee shop near the park. We had lattes and they tasted great. You can get your latte in a nice mug with Birch logo. Everyone was friendly. They don’t have any milk out so you need to ask for it if you add it to your coffee. It gets very busy.
I've been looking a loooong time for a solid place like this. Finaly someone that makes amazing Cortado. I don't have to fly to Europe anymore just to have a good cup of coffee ☕ Thank You!!!
An ok spot to grab a quick drink. Their ice tea was good. There's no wifi and power outlets are covered so they clearly don't want people working here.
I used to come here all the time to study. Great cafe and library upstairs. ::Edit:: They moved and they no longer have a large library (still have some books) and they do not have wifi. Small seating area and most likely have to share with others in a tiny space.
Good coffee, good scones, great service, unpretentious staff, I really appreciate how Birch supports pit bulls!!!! Laid back, comfortable setting. Nice way to start my day for a long time now...
The coffee was Great! But dude... the assface of the people working there is not normal. No smiles, no “thanks”, no “have a good one”... bad experience even the product is good.
Come for the coffee. Great latte, super creamy and flavorful. Love the industrial decor and cozy ambiance as well. However, it's definitely a bit loud (couldn't really chat unless I raised my voice) and no outlets.
Wish they had WiFi and outlets but good coffee otherwise!!
good quick and delicious coffee
Cozy place, cute decor. They are almost too cutesy with the quiz questions tip jars and the "talk to people" table cards. But the giant wood table in the middle and very nice window bar are really nice. Coffee was good.
Great espresso / mochas. Fun vibe. Friendly people. Don't be dissuaded by the line up if there is one - it moves quickly. Little crowded, but Madison Square Park is very close - great excuse to sit in the fresh air and enjoy the trees.
Great coffee, but they have no wifi and only one outlet. Not a great study spot.
Friendly staff and good tasted coffee but no Wifi
Looks super full from the street, very efficient service place cleared out in moments, great cortado. Worth it!
More than recommend this shop for anyone looking for a quick coffee and for anyone who is open to a bit of socialization. A nice touch is a board they have in front of the bartender that encourages making new connections. I had a chai latte and loved every drop!
Damn good coffee with nice snacks (yoghurt, cookies, baked goods) to go with it. But the coffee is excellent, which is a rare compliment in the US.
I love your place
Love this place and it's vibe. Prices are reasonable for the area. Coffee is excellent, service is very welcoming and friendly.
Great place to sit down with some work and enjoy a cup of coffee. The barista's were polite and service was good.
Ok place with little to choose from and a rather high price setting. Like $8,65 for a coffee and a small bun. Large coffee that is and the taste was really good on both
Very good coffee. A little small but a pretty good vibe. No internet to do work, even though was told otherwise.
Small but really cozy cafe. High quality of coffee and service!
Great shop, good coffee, cozy and open vibe. I got a latte and the espresso is strong and milk was perfect. This place is great for a casual meeting, date, or just some studying or work. I love there little conversation starter board. Very creative idea and just what this world needs, more friendly/non-social media means of connecting.
Good coffee and tea and really nice baristas. I especially recommend the little sandwiches which were amazing!
coffee is really good. cozy space. (but no wi-fi)
Solid coffee, beautiful shop and friendly folks. A great place to chat, meet a new person or do a little work. Only probably is that it is almost always super busy beyond the capacity of the place, making it a toss up if you'd like to sit.
Small but cozy Nice coffee / smaller size cup than other coffee shop Good for short meeting with friends or clients
Cool environment and decor. Coffee was amazing!
Warning, no wifi provided here. You would have to connect to LinkNYC wifi which can get spotty.
Very good coffee and great atmosphere.
The employees are friendly and the coffee is always great. Even when it's busy you can find a seat and it's a great place to get work done. The only negative is there is no wifi.
Birch Coffee is the best and this particular location has such good vibes. The staff is always super friendly and the energy is always buzzing. If you walk in and see a long line, have no fear! It always moves quickly. This Birch Coffee location is a popular place for people to sit and work on their laptops so seating can be tough to come by but be patient and make yourself at home. Heck, be bold and sit next to a stranger! I love this place and I’m confident you will too!
My go to place for coffee. Not too acidic. Cold brew is good. Service is exceptional. I'd give it 5 stars but there's better coffee.to be found..
The cold brew here tasted surprisingly good.
Pretty packed and right squeeze. Good for a quick catchup not so much a work session.
When I worked on 27th, this was my go to coffee place. I cannot make it nearly as often, but I always stop here when I pass by. The barista's are always delightful! And, even though it isn't coffee, their chai tea latte's with hemp milk are my favorite!
Came here after a stop at the nearby math museum. The coffee is good and the atmosphere warm and inviting. My only criticism is that while there is a long queue, the share table becomes surrounded with people making it a claustrophobic place to sit. I'm not sure the space is available to address the issue, but I hope they keep it in mind if they decide to re-evaluate the layout in the future.
Only a quick stop, but very cute and calm, even for a decently popular spot early in the morning. Will definitely be a go-to when I'm downtown near Madison.
There always seem to be long line here but they go by really fast.
Fresh pastry with great coffee.
Birch is great, no one has better coffee
Great coffee, friendly staff. Great city centre location.. check it out!
The birch blend drip coffee is amazing
Excellent coffee
Great drip coffee
good place to get awesome coffee
Good lattes and cappuccinos. Cold brew is nice, not sour or bitter. They have their own coffee-themed newspaper - with a crossword puzzle. There's a decent amount of seating and a restroom.
Nook and cranny type of seating here. It can get busy here, the cappuccino is perfff-ect!
Great atmosphere and a fresh drip coffee is all I need to be happy.
Good coffee and the space is bigger than it seems from the outside. One star off because there was no way of heating up the croissant and savoury pastries. The decor and layout is friendly but still with little, tucked away seating spaces.
Flat white was great but not a great place to work because there's no wifi and no outlets. Pretty empty on a weekend at 6pm
With several locations around the city, Birch Coffee has a huge customer base for very good reason - between the quirky-yet-funny atmosphere of the staff, warm and inviting decor, and quality products, it's hard to find a reason to not partake in their goods. Their espresso products are on point, and pair wonderfully with their selection of locally-prepared baked goods. My favorite combination would be the brown sugar cinnamon Magpie with a cortado, but you really can't go wrong here. Birch Coffee's stores all share the same black, galvanized metal, and wood (presumably birch) decor, which invokes a feeling that you're in some sort of modern, stylish log cabin. The place feels lived-in but not dirty, busy and alive but not messy. Bare hanging, softly lit incandescent bulbs hang from the ceiling. Chalkboard paint-covered signs give amusing little quips, and daily trivia questions that spice up the notion of a tip jar a little bit. (The questions can vary from pop culture to deep philosophical choices to needlessly inflammatory X-or-Y choices. It's great.) If you happen to be in the area, this place is definitely worth the visit!
Always a delight to stay in a hotel right next to a great coffee shop. Great service from friendly guys, and a great cup of coffee - balanced roast with a rich flavor. NYC needs more of these places and less Starbucks!
My favorite coffee spot while living in midtown east.
Good coffee & excellent service. Though I took my coffee to go, this is a great space. There was a lively chatter without being loud. I'd definitely come back to get coffee and read a book.
5 stars for the coffee...1 for hospitality and staff friendliness. Definitely perfect for take away. They don't even offer WIFI. It's 2018! Epic Fail!
Great coffee spot
Great coffee but there's no wifi. Hate to give it less than 5 stars but no wifi hurt me in my soul.
Nice and comfy and pleasant atmosphere.
Nice decor, knowledgeable and kind baristas, and good coffee
Favourite coffee place in all of USA and Canada for me.
We chose to organize our meeting with some of my colleagues in this coffee shop after getting recommendations from my friends. As soon as we stepped inside, we were immediately greeted by the widest smiles of the staffs who were at the counter and the waiters around.
Love their coffee and the setting! Sometimes there are no seats because the place gets too crowded.
Great coffee and a cool atmosphere. There are several locations throughout NYC. This location has always been crowded when I came in (around 1:00pm) but I’m sure you could find a table if you wait around. They have icebreakers if you want to meet new people!
Cute little place. Very easy to find with good vibes and a nifty little reading corner. Adore the mini library in the back and wish I had one of my own. I was impressed with the size of my chai latte, but then frowned when my soup was half the size of my mug for tea. So if you're hungry, get the bowl not the cup, otherwise you'll be disappointed. If you're looking for just a small chew on the side, then no worries, there's enough for a joyful taste.
Absolutely amazing coffee
Fast service, surprisingly great coffee!
Quiz of the day: who is tarzan’s girlfriend.
Great coffee! Great place for quick meet ups.
I brought my running team - Gotham City Runner’s - here as our “finish line” after our Saturday long run. Everyone loved it! The coffee and drinks were great and handcrafted with care (see photo) and the food was delicious. I opted for the blueberry scone and it was fantastic. The whole group of us (15 people) fit easily into the space and everyone got a seat! The one issue we had was gluten-free options were slim. Thanks Birch for an overall good time!
I love grabbing a coffee here. I sometimes take my meetings here because the space is great for it. There's a lot of sitting and although it feels like there won't be any ready once your coffee is ready if people are constantly going in and out.
Really really nice spot to meet people. Very good coffee
Friendly service, great coffee drinks. Try the Cortado!
Best coffee we've found in NY so far
Birch is maybe not the singular best coffee shop in New York, but definitely among the top. It's original from the city, contrary to Blue Bottle they have a seating area to relax while enjoying the coffee and contrary to Starbucks they have nice ceramic cups and way better coffee.
Best chai latte!
There was a time this was my go-to place for coffee in the neighborhood. Now... milk is always burnt in cappuccinos. And little foam in it. Bathroom is still clean, so not all is bad.
Great coffee ☕, and quite a few seats to drink your coffee inside if you don't want to have it on the go.
Birch tends to have long lines for good reason, the coffee here is excellent. The line goes pretty fast as well due to snappy service. The espresso is very tasty, not bitter but packs a nice punch. As an iced latte, it’s delicious and they don’t over do the ice like so many other places. The pastires they carry from nearby shops are also delicious, especially the huge donuts from dough, or the muffins.
Very tasty coffee. More laid back than Starbucks.
I loved the space and location. Had a good coffee and a scone on the side.
I've really become obsessed with finding the best cup of Joe in the city. I LOVE Birch Coffee! OMG just the best. So smooth and creamy and no bitter taste. The baristas at this location are pretty friendly and they're quick. There's always a line of customers waiting and it's worth the wait. The baristas always seem to be in a really good mood. Loads of seats and they have a bathroom at this location. Thumbs up up up!!
Cute. A decent amount of seating for the size.
