Conveniently located in the center of the Portsmouth, there's a nice mix of draft beers, coffee drinks, and lunch & breakfast sandwiches. The interior retains brick and wood from days gone by. And the reasonable prices are complimented by friendly service.

Cup of Joe is amazing. Incredible atmosphere chill relaxed and welcome feel with a rustic look and brings that friendly coffee shop feel. If you have allergies then your at the right place. Large list of (dairy free) milk/creamers. (Gluten free) bread as well. I have both these allergies and never break on after eating from here. (Just let them know about allergies before) Fresh vegetables and incredible sandwiches. Very kind and courteous staff friendly with a smile. Always clean and very fair pricing!

The breakfast sandwiches are bomb!! Slight balsalmic drizzle, avacado, bacon bits... Heaven. And the coffee is solid. Worth it

Good coffee and decent pastries. They actually have a full menu but I didn't see it. I worked here for a few hours without issue. Only complaint is the kitchen is very open. When they were prepping some bacon the whole place smelled like bacon, but I also smelled like bacon when I left.

We were ignored for almost five minutes while sitting at the bar, which we found quite odd. Asked for a special coffee and they said they could make it, and it was not at all what was expected. Bit of a letdown.

Cons: The employees interactions were short and cold, had no pleasantries and acted like they were forced to be there. It ruined the whole vibe. Pros: Nice decor (besides the wobbly tables, which I fixed) and various milk alternatives for vegans.

It's a really nice coffee shop! The inside is cool and features lots of neat decor and comfortable wall seating with pillows. Water pitchers and glasses are set at each table. Space is plentiful for a coffee shop and there are two clean restrooms for patrons. A tea shop occupies the space in the rear of the shop. Overall a pleasant experience. The coffee was great, I will return.

Service Really Poor, Went in yesterday a dreary day in Portsmouth, 2nd time being here, Service at the Bar was really slow, Wife was asked for ID although she is more than twice the Legal age, Then was ignored for other customers, finally she was waited on again and given the wrong Beer, She also ordered a Hot Black Tea for me withMilk, She got a Cup of Hot Frothy Milk and a Random Tea Bag which didn't taste like anything, Wrong Milk and way too much. No one seemed to care or even check. too bad it seemed like a cool place last time, but I think they are only concerned with catering to the "Locals"

Cute decor. Convenient location in the middle of town. However, it’s more of a bar than coffee shop. Don’t expect expertly prepared coffee drinks. My latte was below average. My husband got iced latte and he wasn’t happy. They have a bathroom and lots of tables.

It,s a coffee shop with a lot of variety. When we came in it was crowded, but amazingly our wait was very short. Live entertainment from two professionals provided the perfect atmosphere. The group called Silver Wings played a variety of songs making it hard for us to leave.

Was in this morning with my daughter. Very cute place and very busy. My daughter ordered a large Carmel latte and we sat down at a high bar table to wait for the order to be called. A small Carmel latte was called twice but never a large. After about ten minutes my daughter inquired about where her drink was, the cashier grabbed the small from the pick up station transferred it to a large cup added ice and milk. The barista then stated that she has called out for the pick up ten minutes earlier and pointed out where the pick up station was. Mistakes happen ladies but when one is made the courtesy of an apology would've been appreciated. Needless to say the drink was watered down. We will not return.

Such an awesome little coffee shop with wonderful girls. The coffee was just what we needed for our drive to Bar-Harbor and we got some great suggestions for a second half of the journey in Portland as an added bonus. These are the places that energize our little gems of towns spread across the U.S. We stopped off for a quick bite and some coffee for the road trip, but we might be inspired to return on the way back to Boston with our Cups ready to visit with Joe and the girls again!

Cup of Joe has got to be my favorite coffee shop in Portsmouth and one of the best on the Seacoast. It has a beautiful mix of old and contemporary styles inside that remind me of my time living in Brooklyn. Of course the coffee is also incredible and each drink seems to be made backed up with a lot of knowledge and passion my the employees. The staff is always friendly and non overbearing to me while also being knowledgeable on the different styles of coffee. Great place to sit and study or get some work done while enjoying a chilled out vibe with a younger crowd which is hard to find in NH outside of Durham. Highly recommend

Delicious latte, fantastic environment to sit down and get some work done or meet up with friends. Quiet enough to concentrate and just noisy enough to be connected to reality. The wifi was perfect and the bathrooms were spacious and clean. Friendly staff, friendly vibe. If I lived in Portsmouth, I would practically live at Cup of Joe's.
