Warm engaging staff, great baking ❤️ and the best coffee east of Portland.
Great drinks and atmosphere. We were really enjoying the ambiance until a new group arrived and asked for the music to be turned down...which the staff did...without even asking us! Mood interrupted. Good time over. We left. PS the music wasn't loud or offensive
Huckleberry, beet and goat cheese glazed donut tasted incredible.
Ordered blueberry pancakes. Pretty unexceptional, two were darker, burned, than than seemed acceptable. The pancakes were served on a luncheon plate that made eating less than four at a time a bit of a challenge. Coffee was refilled at good interval.
After traveling from Florida, DC, Idaho and places in between; pastry and tea or coffee from the Annex remains one of my favorite breakfasts! The baked goods are inspiring and clearly cooked by an experienced baker. The coffee and tea selections are no nonsense perfection and the service is friendly and genuine!
Great place for coffee and sourdough crumpets.
They've hired better help and that makes all the difference! Coffee and food is always top notch!
Great coffee and scones!
Honestly wish I would have gone to Starbucks or city brew. I thought I was going to have a great experience and instead I got a bland coffee that was so over filled I couldn't even take it to my seat without spilling it all over myself and getting all sticky. The same over filling happened with both of my friends coffees as well causing a huge mess. The cashier set the bar extremely high when explaining how "exquisite there coffee" is. When in all reality it was the same thing I could have made at home. There is no option of blended coffee only hot or iced. (Both extremely bland) Save yourself the hassle of going through the struggle of spilling on your self and buying a coffee you could have made at home for the same taste at way less of a cost. This place is purely for looks. The coffee and atmosphere appear to be great however once you taste the coffee itself it completely ruined the vibe of the coffee shop. Not worth the gas or the cost of buying a coffee. Unless you love bland coffee then this is the perfect option for you.
Chill place. Great coffee with exceptional pastries. Try the pour over coffee!
Very fun atmosphere and GREAT serivce. They were all so friendly and eager to help. I really enjoyed it there.
Beautiful deco . Great coffee
While Billings is in no shortage of coffeehouses, The Annex is something special. The bakery/coffee combo is a tried and true combination, and when have offerings such as blood orange donuts with Earl Grey Filling paired with Revel coffee then it's a match made in heaven.
My wife said I needed to write that this place is too cute and Alicia was a sweetheart. The quiche was delicious and moist, the homemade donut was on point, and the coffer and Chai was superb. We really enjoyed the vibe of this place and would highly recommend anyone to step away from the ordinary and give this place a shot. You won't be disappointed and will likely find a new favorite spot!
Scone was dry, service was friendly, a d atmosphere was relaxing.
Latte with lavender and rosemary with a brownie laced with fresh strawberries
Yep. It's worth it to come to Billings if this is literally the only thing you do. Super good coffee and pastries. Get the Queen Amman. You wont be sorry.
Best coffee I've had in Billings by far. Light roast similar to Stumptown beans with fantastic pastries and quiches for breakfast. Good spot for the kids to play in the corner very nice atmosphere.
Excellent high quality coffee and pastries.
The Annex has an urban retreat feel to it and its great for relaxing with a delicious cup of coffee. I don’t like my coffees super sweet, and they make them just right. Each coffee has just enough flavor to make me want to come back for more. I even buy their coffee beans to make lattes at home. They really care about what they make and they take pride in their craft of coffee making. They use different Montana made products which makes your experience unique as well. If you haven’t tried their scrumptious treats you are totally missing out! Their breakfast burritos are to die for, if you like croissant rolls, they have a great ham and cheese one that is worth getting too. This coffee shop is quiet enough that you can have business meetings, or coffee with friends and you won’t feel crowded. I absolutely love the Annex!
Cozy book in the wall. Used butter yay! Delicious iced tea
The Annex has a super trendy space. If you love Instagramming, this is a must stop. Their charcoal latte sounds super cool, but it doesn't affect the flavor at all. Their pastries are by far their best strength: they make everything in house, and their attention to detail and good design is impeccable. My favorite one I've tried is the square (yes, square) hibiscus donut.
Great local coffee house. Loved the baked oatmeal! Easy parking.
I’ve always been a coffee lover, but the Annex has pushed me over the edge.... They use my favorite local coffee roaster (who has garnered national attention) and I love the time and care they put into their coffee and bakery. They are located on historic Minnesota Avenue and have a laid-back vibe combined with the best cuppa joe that will get you addicted.
Pricey
If you are looking for something different, but delicious. This is the place.
Great coffee, friendly baristas and bright, comfortable atmosphere. The baristas take the time to "artisanal-ize" their lattes. This place is usually quite and a great place to study. A neat view of passing trains is offered in the back.
Pretty cool vibes in here and the food/coffee is good, but they need a better seating layout and a little less expensive would be nice
A proper cup of coffee! Best I have had in Billings. I spent the last five nights here in town and this is the best place I have had coffee (tried 3 others). The burrito is very good and so are there baked Goods. The cake donuts are made daily and are dense. If you love Ethiopian coffee get the pour over.
You always know that a coffee place is good when it makes you feel like you need to work on yourself and become cooler. Easily the best coffee in Billings with at atmosphere that makes Urban Outfitters look like Shopco.
Simple and sleek modern designed new cafe with great parking, WiFi, and food, close to downtown.
The Annex thrives with style and creativity. Traditional, artisan-inspired pastries and coffee with an unconventional flair such as a savory gallant makes this shop stand out from other coffee shops and bakeries in the area. Quality find!
Great lattes!
Cool vibe and the coffee was nice and hot, but I was really unimpressed by the service and baked goods. The girl I interacted with was offputtingly rude. Latte tasted just like milk. Almond croissant had beautiful croissant pastry, but had an unfortunate strong taste of almond extract, was covered in an extremely sweet icing, and did not come filled with any marzipan, even though I asked if it did. The donut was heavy and even though it was fresh it tasted a bit dry and instead of tasting like the flavor it was supposed to be it just tasted like sugar. The bill was very expensive for such mediocrity. Maybe this is great for Billings?
Lovely little cafe. The coffee was excellent. The food was just a good.
Perfect!
Great coffee, great bakery, great staff, great atmosphere!
Lacking choices as far as a ‘bakery’ is considered. Only 5 items.
This place is great! Super trendy hipster, great coffee and baked goods. A fun place to start the day as they always have something amazing to try in the case. Also a good place to soak up some atmosphere and do work.
All was great for a quick cup o' joe!
Coffee amazing
Superb shop focused on excellent espresso & baked goods. The success of both ventures is quite clear! Atmosphere is a laid-back industrial/modern and easy for work or conversation. One of the top coffee shops in Billings IMO.
amazing staff and great coffee, everything is made in house which i think makes a huge difference. Would recommend this place to anyone who enjoys a good cup of coffee and a great hang out spot.
Really great, love the design and the food is delicious (I had the ham and cheese croissant). Definitely would recommend and come back again
Friendly barista! And excellent coffee! We loved this place and think it belongs in Seattle! The kids had wonderful breakfast of a ham and cheese croissant and a frittata that was out of this world, moist and delicious
Possibly the best bread I have ever eaten, and I love bread. Akin to the best I've had in Europe, but better! Chewy crust beyond compare. Couple that with their superb lattes, and you've had a peak experience. And friendly and engaging. I was just passing through, and they were recommended by a wonderful staffperson at the KOA recommended them; bless her. I'll be back when we return from our Alaska sojourn, and then I'll by some of their bulk Sumatran coffee beans, and a million loaves of the bread!
its good
Oh yum! Great place to go for tea/coffee and pastries. Free Wi-Fi in case you have work to do. Loved the atmosphere friendly staff!
Not friendly
Good coffee and great doughnuts.
Great place for coffee and goodies.
A spot I wish I could get to every day! The Annex is always inviting with friendly staff, a clean atmosphere and uniqueness that I crave in Billings. Love to grab an iced drink in the summer and head to the patio, or cozy up inside in the winter.
Trendy and friendly. Closest to a Portland coffee joint. I enjoyed it
Great coffee, good atmosphere, and excellent WiFi.
Great relaxing atmosphere. Amazing little bakery and espresso offerings that are custom and local. They make their own Kampuchea and a mean cappuccino. Perfect place to sit with a laptop and get some writing done with free WiFi and ample places to plug-in. Staff is friendly and helpful and even offered a free warm-up on my tea. Really adds to the quality of the experience. Set right next to the railroad tracks in a historic downtown brick building, the atmosphere is great for creative writing. I will definitely be back - often!
(Order via Uber Eats) Its evident that this business cares. Tape on the lid to keep in heat. Doubling the cups. The coffee had a great balance of flavor. Other places are often too sweet, too much cream, or too weak of a brew. This was very refreshing as ive recently experienced poor service lately from other places. Thank You!
Good coffee and wifi
If you're close and wanting coffee do not pass this place up!!!
Neat coffee shop.
Awesome vibes, great donuts, great coffee (from Seattle) and friendly staff. Next time I'm in Billings I will be stopping by.
Found this cute, eclectic coffeehouse while looking around Billings Depot. The exposed brick, the paintings, and the decorations all tied together to create a beautiful ambience. Coffee was very good too. Highly recommend!
Favorite quiet place for coffee, baked goods, and spotting train graffiti.
A little out of the way but it's a cozy spot and their baked goods are wonderful.
It's unfortunate that 1 bad experience can create lasting impressions. Especially because it was my first time at the Annex and I was beyond excited to try it out! The employee working during the afternoon of 8-22-2017 was incredibly rude when I asked her a question about a drink on the menu. Now I try to give people the benefit of the doubt, everyone has bad days. But it seemed as if my business there was inconveniencing her so much. There was no greeting, no smile, and she might as well have been rolling her eyes the entire time we were conversing. Went I went to add creamer to my coffee she told me they were out. HOW IS A COFFEE PLACE OUT OF CREAM??! Isn't that the kind of thing you send someone out to get right away or borrow it from the Fieldhouse right next door? If it had been one thing or the other, I might have given this place another shot.
This place is adorable and has amazing coffee and pastries to boot!
I had a really good cup of coffee here and an incredible pastry. A true gem.
Amazing
Great coffee and pastries.
Awesome fresh baked bread
Really lousy baked goods. The coffee was decent but let’s be real, you can get good coffee at tons of places. The savory croissants taste terrible. It was over the top mustard. The fancy donuts are well intentioned but poorly executed (ie chai donuts. Sounds great, tastes like cardboard). I’ve been here 3 or 4 times for their pastrys and probably won’t go back for a while to see if they can fix their menu. Suggestion- stick to the basics. Some plain croissants. A normal glazed donut. A scone without 5 flavors.
