This Coffee Shop is classified in the category of Coffee shop.
I have been going here off and on since they opened. Normally for the bagel and lox and have never been disappointed in it and was not yesterday. However I am very disappointed in the sack of coffee purchased 12/15/18. I purchased Sidamo Oromia a Ethiopian coffee roasted to a medium dark. First off the beans did not look nor taste like they were roasted to a medium dark they were much more of a light roast. Also they were dry as a bone. It looks like it was roasted a long time ago and instead of having a nice oily sheen they were just dry. It also tastes stale. If they are going to charge near twice what a national brand charges then it should taste much better and be better quality not lesser. I will go back for the bagel and lox but will probably hold off buying another bag of coffee until they bring the quality back where it used to be.
Love the space for studying, taking kids, or watching an open mic show. The cookies are amazing! The coffee is on par with Panera.
This place is lovely. Amazing food and coffee, great staff, lots of seating and, the BEST part: a whole family area in the back with a train table, play kitchen, books and toys for little ones. The lines are a bit long, but warranted and well worth the wait. Love this place!!
Great staff, friendly atmosphere, wide variety of equipment.
A nice atmosphere, I really savor the solitude of the Quiet Zone on the extra building out back.
This place has fantastic coffee and a wonderful atmosphere.
They rock. Bottomless mug.
A great coffee house, on-site bean roasting with a large selection of whole bean coffees.
Excellent food and reasonably priced.
Decent food and great coffee. Interesting ppl everywhere. Only recently discovered it from a friend suggestion on good place to study.
Excellent coffee!! Great atmosphere to accommodate few or many.
Very nice!
Great family atmosphere. Decent coffee. There can sometimes be a long wait to order. Great local coffee shop.
Loved the biscuit and jam. The frittata was bigger than I wanted. Service and coffee were excellent.
Great coffee
Ordered small latte with extra espresso - not sure either shot made it into the cup. Iced coffee also tends to be brewed weak. Food is good. Service is very friendly. Nice atmosphere, good for study or conversation.
We stayed about 3 blocks from here and decided to visit on our way out to head home. The food was good and the coffee was even better. Play area for the kids was a huge perk. You can buy nice selections of coffee here as well. Would definitely go back!
Lovely sandwich shop.
Good coffee at a good price. Fun kids area too!
Good coffee and grub friendly atmosphere.
Great coffee
Always four different coffees to choose from and good eats. Great establishment in a cool neighborhood
Drinks are average, atmosphere is okay.
Good prices, good drip coffee, and tasty lattes. Pretty good amount of seating and a nice atmosphere. The only unfortunate side isn't that it's kid friendly, but that many of the parents bringing their children let them run amok and emit bloodcurdling screams at regular intervals.
Can't wait to to come visit, looks like the kids area is where my living room was in my apartment from 1996 to 1999. An I LOVE coffee!
cute and quiet spot with free wifi, solid coffee and a surplus of kids food
One of the few places I have found in STL with bagel and lox! Good food selection, serviceable coffee, great space (general sit-down, kids play area, a small fenced courtyard, and a separate quiet/study space).
What a find as I was driving through saint Louis. Wish I had a neighborhood coffee shop I could walk to!
Great food and coffee! I'm a decaf drinker and they honestly serve the best decaf I've ever had. Plus their jalapeno bacon is so good! Not too spicy, just the right amount of kick. They also feature different artists every month and it is always fun to go in and look at the different art.
Great mom and pop coffee shop. Good coffee. Good service. And kid friendly. Has an area where the kids can play.
Phenomenal! So good!! Only downside is that it is super small and very limited seating to enjoy their yummy.
This is one of my favorite coffee shops of all time. Honestly! I like visiting local coffee shops and Hartford Coffee Co. ranks in my top 10. Excellent food and drinks. Nice specialty items like cheesecakes and baked goods. Great atmosphere and lots of good seating and light. Love, love, love!!!
My Open Mic Night performance went well there! Great place great audience. One of the hosts even gave me a better Mic to use. Great atmosphere good coffee professional staff! The people there are nice!
This place has cheap coffee I like cheap coffee won't find this price no other place
Broad selection of roasted whole beans. Will custom mill your coffee. Most varieties Fair Trade and organic, so you know your money is going to the right people, i.e., the farmers.
Quaint local coffee shop that has what I need. Also has nice outdoor seating in the front and the back along with a play area for kids.
Good coffee. Kind staff. The child friendly atmosphere sets Hartford apart. Not only is there a partitioned area for toddler aged children to play, they also have great snack options for kids. At my last visit I had an hour before my next appointment and my 2 year old with me. She went through the toys taking breaks to munch on animal crackers and a banana. Even with a children’s area I’ve never had a noise problem or issue chatting with clients that I’ve met here. Great place.
Love this place. Good coffee, lots of seating options, good wi fi, has it all.
Coffee is always exceptional. We had a great Sunday brunch with friends. Breakfast sandwiches came out fresh and hot.
Good neighborhood place, even when you aren't a neoghbor.
Family friendly place with a neighborhood feel. Great coffee and staff!
Great friendly neighborhood coffee shop
Excellent coffee. Great breakfast food.
Good coffee, nice environment, good for little kids
Great neighborhood coffee house with a nice breakfast and lunch menu. Coffee was tasty and the egg sammie was good. Look forward to going back soon!
Love the coffee, desserts, sandwich and soup choices! The atmosphere is quaint.
Great bottomless cup selection with afforadable breakfast/lunch options. Honestly my favorite shop around.
Nice place for kids and fortunately, they have a separate area for them. Love the community aspect. Nice patio. I was not aware they had gluten free bread and cookies. I'll look for them next time! (Wouldn't mind a GF muffin - the ones they have all look so good.)
This place was great! The drinks were pretty tasty and the prices were even better. Also they were exceptionally fast, even by coffee house standards.
Best prices and I always buy their whole beans as they are roasted on site.
Always a great experience. The staff is lovely and the coffee is delicious. A very nice quiet study area and a space for the kids too. Great neighborhood coffee shop.
I
my go to coffee shop in stl. friendly staff and great coffee
A great neighborhood coffee shop, and a favorite of the locals. It's conveniently located one block from Tower Grove Park. Clean, contemporary design. There's a children's area which is great for parents, though I'm glad that during my visits there haven't been kids. (Like kids, but prefer my coffee time quiet). There's also outside seating in front. The beverages are good, comparable to others, and moderately priced. The employees are always pleasant.
Great place to take your kids.
Fantastic food and beverages, served by friendly folks in a cozy atmosphere with music at just the right volume.
Tried an Everything Bagel with the Dill, Garlic Cream Cheese. A satisfying breakfast.
Super friendly staff. Food, treats and coffee are all fantastic. I come here to study quite frequently and often times the internet service is unusable. Great place to read and study but any online work is not guaranteed to be successful.
Hartford Coffee Company is within walking distance from my house so I go there all the time. The coffee is decent, and bakery goods are wonderful. I really like the pumpkin bread, and the cheesecake is pretty good too. The only problem I have is the food is very expensive, which is the reason I rarely order anything besides coffee, or a baked good. Also, they need to get more coffee machines because when I go there on busy days most of the coffee is gone and I can barely fill a cup. Overall, they're pretty good and I do recommend you give them a visit.
Superb location! Food at great price and nice portions. I love their hummus and pita. They also have a great selection of grilled sandwiches!
We moved in down the street, and in no time we were telling friends that we live “dangerously close” to this cafe! Love the extraordinary coffee that they roast on location, and the menu that gets off the beaten path. Also love the friendly staff! Unique quiet zone in the back is an excellent spot to write or simply escape.
Sammie sandwich excellent
Fresh roasted coffee at a fair price.
Great food! Friendly service!!
Really fun. Good music
nice place
Great place to sit, have some coffee, and do some work.
Kid friendly. Fantastic coffee. I really like meeting people here.
Great breakfast sandwiches and awesome coffee. It's nice to support a neighborhood coffeehouse. It's a win, win for the City!!!
Casual atmosphere. Reasonable prices
Good atmosphere and friendly people working here. Definitely fills an important need in the neighborhood. Unfortunately, just not impressed with their food or coffee.
Great little coffee shop. Great homey atmosphere with tasty food and splendid coffee. The curry chicken salad was one of my favorites. I would definitely go here many more times!
Friendly staff. This place seems like a favorite spot for people who live in the neighborhood. Great coffee and the menu looks awesome. Can't wait to go back.
I came here more than once years ago! The food and beverages were delicious! The atmosphere was inviting. Now that I am back in town I will be back for more visits!
Not a coffee person but their smoothies are amazing! I stop by every time I go to the Botanical Garden or Tower Grove Park.
Great coffee and awesome open mic on Friday nights!
Friendly neighborhood coffee shop with welcoming atmosphere and good food. We stopped in on a Sunday morning before church. It's obviously a very popular fixture with the neighbors.
Food was great, iced tea was awful, tasted like it was old or in an unwashed dispenser. Lattes not good at all. I think these are easy fixes, just need to take some care with the drinks.
Generally good service. Younger barista a bit impatient and does not listen to full order/will not let you place your full order/assumes you've finished speaking. Go in the later afternoon when he is not there. Try to wait until the barista with the moustache in his 30s is there. Much more patient.
One of my favorite places in town to get some work done, grab a cup of coffee, or meet someone for lunch. Love the fact that they provide details on the coffees they brew (roast, body, acidity). The food's always good, and reasonably priced. Only complaint I ever have is sometimes the air conditioner is going full bore and its freezing inside...
Great neighborhood place
Great neighborhood coffee shop, and perfect quiet space in separate building past the patio.
Great food, great coffee/tea/beverage options and cozy atmosphere. I appreciate the kids' area being segregated from the rest of the shop. Supporting a local business is always a great idea, and Hartford makes it that much sweeter.
Very nice employees, good fresh food, a real diverse atmosphere. Dont get the looks of wonder when you walk through which is good as a POC. Come every Sunday
I don't think I can add anything that hasn't already been said by countless other reviewers. Basically this is the kind of place that you want out of a family-friendly neighborhood coffee joint. There's nothing particularly fancy about it, but I think the drip coffee is really solid, the pastries are wonderful, and the food options make great go-to's for a weekend lunch. Do yourself a favor and indulge in a sammy for breakfast.
What a gem. Stumbled upon this place while in town for a weekend. Inexpensive and good food. Incredibly family friendly with great kids menu and play area. Friendly staff and patrons. Can’t wait to come back.
Nice neighborhood coffee shop. Plus they have a little play area for kids.
Pretty cool spot. I can definitely see the community patronizing the place. The fact they had a place for kids was attractive. Cost Center One wanted to play in that space so it passed the eye test. However, the CEO thought otherwise: thought the children's space needed to be tidy. I'll chalk it up to it being less than an hour before closing on New Years Eve. My mocha was okay, but willing to try again. I like the community feel.
Hartford Coffee Company somehow manages to be all things you could want in a coffee shop at once: Kid friendly with a subtly separate area for kids to play, excellent coffee roasted in-house, a really nice patio (with multiple outlets), friendly staff and extremely reasonable prices. There's few coffee shops I know where I could go with my toddlers and hang out, go by myself to get work done, go with friends to get food, etc. And somehow it manages to also have a very laid-back vibe and never feels to loud or busy. A true gem here in Tower Grove.
Great customer service.
Good coffee. Good people.
Great coffee and delicious, healthy breakfast items. Wonderful service. Hip location.
Nice neighborhood coffee house that has stood the test of time...only gets a 3 because the pastries have all been overcooked lately.
Delicious lattes and lemon poppyseed bars!
I bring my 7 year old often to have a snack and do homework after school. They offer a few healthier options for kids snacks/meals. Customer service is great and they are kid friendly. Bakery/dessert type items are great.. The food itself is okay, but could be better.
Food and coffee were good. Nice little patio out front.
16 oz iced Americano and a blueberry muffin for $5.01! Great prices for a coffee shop. Everything tasted great. Service was fast and courteous. Plenty of table space inside for studying or visiting with friends.
One of my fave places to go with my kids for them to play in the little kids section, or on my own to grab coffee or lunch while i work. Kids area could use cleaning and tlc, prices are a bit higher for the food but its good, and I enjoy supporting local companies! Super nice staff.
Love their coffee. It's a laid back place to hang out, and is kid friendly
I had a medium breve latte and a pumpkin roll. The coffee was perfect and The roll was delicious. I went around 845. There was no line, so service was prompt.
Coffee is excellent and reasonably priced. If you bring your own mug it's only $1. Baked goods are adequate. Muffones (muffin + scone) and mini-loaves are highly recommended. Muffins are okay.
Fun open mic good drinks
Yummy food, if they get it right.
Great food, friendly service, comfortable seating for individuals and small groups. Back area for kids and quiet area for people working hard or studying.
When living on the road you spend a lot of time at coffee shops. Coffee shop is often the 2nd question I ask about the nearest bar. My friends highly recommended this place so I decided to check it out. It's a very standard type coffee shop, clever art on the walls, etc. The one thing that really stood out is that all of the beverages were very affordable. The food menu looks extensive, might have to try that while I'm here. I'm only giving it 4 stars since their web site isn't mobile friendly and if Google says that's important I'm not going to argue.
Great food and sweet staff! Always enjoy coming here.
First time here and the place is awesome. I work over in this area and didn't even know about it. They have coffee, teas, and sodas. The offer a variety of food including some for vegetarians. I had the baked falafel and tomato basil bisque soup. They were delicious to say the least. My other half had a Caesar salad. The plate was big for the price of it. She also had a cherry italian soda. It was great too. Finally, i got a wheat bagel with homemade hummus. The bagel was nice and warm and the hummus was cool. They complimented each other well. This is definitely worth the price which was low. For all of this I paid less than $20. The staff was very friendly.
Family friendly? ✔ Live music? ✔ Quiet meeting/study spaces? ✔ Those rarely come together in the same space, so well done!
A fun place to get a bite to eat. Always interesting sandwiches. My breakfast favorite is the Sammie. Ironically, I do not enjoy their coffee. But I do like their Ice Tea.
Great coffee, great staff and a classic coffee shop atmosphere. I took away one star because I wish the desserts and snacks available we're better.
This place is great. They have great drip coffee that they air roast in house. The food is really good. They have live music often. Great place to study. Update: This place has an amazing BLT!
Great place, best Sammies, and chill atmosphere. Love the local art on walls. Just know service speed depends on day and hour you go, so be kind when in line :)
Two favorite things. They have a soda fountain! For all of the non coffee drinkers out there, it is a not often found place for caffeine! Second, they have a separate little building called the Quiet Zone. It is an amazing addition that allows customers to study, read and grade without the noise and bustle of the main cafe. Thank you Hartford!!
I love how close to home this place is and that they have a rotation art collection, but the people behind the counter are always so rude. Looking for a new local coffee house.
Love Hatford Coffee. All feel welcome there. Great outdoor seating available. Consistent quality of food and coffee.
I'm literally obsessed with this place. I come in almost every morning. I drink black coffee and this is the best tasting, most reasonably priced coffee in the city. They have 20 different varieties and put out three types plus a decaf every day. I always get to try something different. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is laid-back, not pretentious at all. Go here, you won't regret it!!!!
Service wasn't great, and neither was the food. The worst part is how incredibly filthy this place was.
Nice place, late hours good coffee!
Clean quiet good friendly service good food for small meal or snack
They have a great refillable coffee option and no questions asked free WiFi! What more could you ask for? Also they have a nice bagel selection as well as cream cheese selection. I got dill garlic cream cheese that was heavenly.
The cookie was stale and the ice coffee was ok. The decor feels like a diner.
Warm and friendly urban neighborhood coffee shop. The large windows allow sunlight to pour in, and the natural light is fantastic on the wooden floors. The coffee is good, plus it is inexpensive: $1.25 for 12 oz. cup, $3 for bottomless. They serve breakfast, sandwiches, salads and vegetarian dishes. Small tables are conducive for conversation -- if you can find an open seat! Like most hip coffee shops, a laptop is required for admission. The also sell bulk coffee.
Friendly staff and pleasant envit. They use a medium roast and I am use to a dark roast so not my favorite.
Good place to get a frappe. About a once a month stop on my way to the yard
Great local spot. Very affordable. Good for breakfast sandwiches, bagels, and "muffones" (muffin + scone hybrid) - an easy go-to in the morning. Friendly staff, and a nice play area for kids. Two outdoor patios (front and back) and dogs are welcome. Separate, quiet area for studying is nice to have.
Good place
Good espresso shot. Would be nice if it were served in ceramic cups or mugs instead of single use disposable cups.
Great Cafe and Musical Events
This place has a great atmosphere and a very friendly staff. The lox and bagels is an amazing deal- I feel like it would cost more to make it at home and it wouldn't be a delicious. Kyle works the early morning shifts and knows my coffee order better than I do- he makes this place a 6 star shop. I love to stop in once a week to see the artwork display; they showcase a different artist roughly once a week. They have a quite space in a separate building across the patio where you can relax and get your work done. I'm grateful to have them within walking distance from my home.
A great little neighborhood coffee shop. How thoughtful to dedicate a space for a kids' play area, along with seating for parents. And that area is nicely segregated from the rest of the seating area - so it's good for kids or for those seeking a relaxing dining area. Also, there is a front- and back-patio area, perfect for some outdoor dining if the weather is agreeable. The food selection is excellent, as are the prices. Lots of vegetarian and carnivorous menu items are available. And the coffee is high quality as well - which is to say, the beans are perfectly roasted and lack the burnt flavor which I associate most with Kaldi's and Starbuck's. The cold-brew I had was superb! The service was quite slow on the day I went, but my wife assured me they were very efficient when it wasn't as busy. So I gave 4-stars instead of 5. If they're able to fix the service issues during peak hours, I'll update to 5 stars. In any case, even with the long wait time for food when it's a busy Saturday, I still can confidently give a high recommendation to Hartford Coffee Co.
Good drip coffee, wide selection of medium-dark roast beans. Quiet study room off of the main cafe.
Super convenient coffee joint. Great beans, wish the food had a bit more pizzaz.
Great place in the neighborhood, very comfy and soup was fabulous, homemade and nice home atmosphere, lively and helpful folks too! My favorite coffee shop! !
Its spider webs in the quiet room and a dead mouse
Bad coffee annoying people uncomfortanle seats
A little something for everyone. Good coffee, meat, vegetarian food, kiddie snacks and play area, patio AND courtyard, quiet study room, art for sale. I like the macaroni salad!
The perfect neighborhood coffee spot. Great coffee, delicious pastries, and good savory menu including breakfast all day. For you non-coffee drinkers, their hand made italian soda is delicious! You can never go wrong with one of their muffins or the Sammie. Front or rear patio seating, a decent numbers of tables in the main coffee shop (although it does get crowded mid-morning on a weekend), a play section for the kiddos, and a separate back indoor sitting area that is a "quiet zone." Street parking is easy to find. Curb cut in front and lightly sloped ramp make wheelchair access very easy. Their one restroom is large and wheelchair accessible with a raised toilet and grab bars. Wheelchair access to back patio and quite zone area area also easy.
Hartford is a little gem in Tower Grove. Friendly staff, lots of seating inside and out, great coffee menu and a fantastic list of weekly activities keeps Hartford Coffee Company going.
