You will see the reviews of people who used the products and services of The Buttered Tin (Coffee Shop) in Minnesota.
Currently this firm gets a score of 4.5 out of 5 and this rating is based on 813 reviews.
You must have seen that its rating is practically the best one, and it is based on a very large number of feddbacks, so we may conclude that the evaluation is quite faithful. If many people have bothered to evaluate when they've done well with the business, is that it works.
You know that we don't usually bother to place scores when they are positive and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or incidence...
This Coffee Shop is classified in the category of Cafe.
There are better breakfast/bakeries around. Let me say this first. The Staff is very friendly. Most of the food however leaves something to be desired. The good, the Banana Foster French toast. A mouthful of yummy, caramel goodness. The needs to improve: Crab Cake Benedict: The poached eggs came over cooked, the asparagus was over done and the crab cake looked flattened to within an inch of it's life although it did taste better then the over done eggs Loaded Hash Browns: the pork tasted off, the combination of sweet sauce and hash browns was not a good combo.
I live in an apartment building close by The Buttered Tin and I have been coming here for years. On the weekdays it is counter service to order and on the weekends it's full service- the servers come to your table. I've always had great service here. It's a very popular place so sometimes the line is very long but they will text you when your table is ready. This restaurant was also open on Christmas Eve this year which was really helpful for me because I had family coming in from out of town and we needed a place to eat! I usually get the Bananas Foster French Toast. Definitely one of my favorite restaurants in the area!
The buttered tin hash was fantastic, but they forgot to serve us two items. Overall, the food was worth it though.
Had the Loaded Hashbrowns (it was like breakfast casserole), added the egg and it was delicious. Love that there was sriracha, and they also have a local hot sauce. Table service was amazingWill definitely plan to stop back the next time we are in the area!
OK food, not great service, good prices. Visited this place after reading about how great their biscuits and gravy were. They were meh...almost like jerk flavoring without the spice. The huevos rancheros benedict was decent, and my loaded hashbrowns were good. Their pickled onions are yummy. The problem was the service. Our waitress stopped by when the runners were delivering the food. She asked how it looked. She never stopped back or checked on us even once until it was time to pay. Everyone at our table had water and coffee that never got refilled. She probably passed our table 15 times with her head buried in her Toast POS handheld system without even looking our way. We had to hunt down the hostess to bring us syrup. I'd come back to try a few of the menu items and give this place a second chance, but if the service is anything like it was today I wouldn't be back.
Wish they would have had more of there cupcakes. Carmel rolls were tasty and cherry pie was awesome
Got several cupcakes to share with family. The cupcakes alone were fine - nothing special - but the frosting on all of them tasted like pure butter. Will not go back for those!
Anniversary Brunch ,delishes and great mimosas.
Stopped by for lunch on a Sunday. Waited about 20 mins but well worth it. We all had breakfast dishes and they were all outstanding. The sake bloody Mary was fantastic as well. Friendly staff, food came out quick. Will definitely return.
Great food and atmosphere! Food is ordered at the counter and then brought to your table identified by playing card numbers. The wait was a little long and hard to judge with a lot of tables and a pretty small kitchen but the food was well worth the wait. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Suggestion: The maple bacon pancake was to die for!! Highly recommend!
Great food. Great service.

Great for the pompous and egocentric who pretend that the place has amazing food when they only come here for the atmosphere. I ordered the Maple Bacon Pancakes and they were extremely dry. I also barely got any syrup, so no help there. I bet whoever likes this place, also likes Izzy's Ice Cream and Spyhouse Coffee!
Awesome poached eggs
The food was delicious. Great service and cool atmosphere. A little more pricey than the average breakfast but worth every penny. A must try if you are in the area. The breakfast tacos are gluten free and a good portion.
It's just fine for brunch. Most of the times I've been have been pretty good but not outstanding. Certainly better than the nearby Key's.
Really good food, great ambience but the service is really slow.

Good food, but charged 5% surcharge to all customers. I wasn't impressed by that. Why not just raise prices so it isn't a surprise in the end? Disappointed. Service wasn't as good as I thought it would be. We couldn't get a coffee refill until we were done with breakfast. Probably won't be back again in the near future.
Great food and service.
Had a great meal here. Banana Fosters French toast was awesome, biscuits and gravy were excellent and the tomorrow soup had a nice kick to it. Will definitely be coming back.
Very good. A little busy at the time we were there but still a pleasant experience.
My wife and I liked the decor and booth seating we were offered. We shared a bowl of golden beet borscht and Reuben sandwich. They were excellent. Decaf coffee was surprisingly very good as well. Music selection was less-than soothing and did not suit our style, yet we will return.
Very trendyfood looked good we were placing an order to pick up later Ing
Wonderful food, beautiful location and amazing staff!! Will definitely be back!
Damn Good Egg sandwich with side salad. The eggs were nice and runny and the salad was really tasty.
Arguably the best breakfast in the city. You will walk away full and happy from their generously portioned plates and everything I have tried there has always been delicious. Guests and out-of-towners always rave about the food when I take them and have never had a complaint. I recommend getting there early as they are almost always packed and you will have a wait if you get there too late.
Hate the rule that we have to wait until all the people have arrived at the venue. Tried their crab cake benedict, very tasteful. Mimosas could be better. Overall nice place for breakfast and brunch.
Good breakfast food. The biscuits are a little dry when not eaten the same day. But the serving staff is good and the food is quality. Not a long wait either, which lead to satisfaction with the experience.
Top five breakfast spot in the twin cities, though the Reuben isn't anything to pass up for lunch if you're in the mood. The biscuits and gravy aren't the gray bland affair that they can be at many places in the Midwest. They are full flavored and bursting with sage/rosemary awesomeness. Pair with their house made sausage patty for the win, though if you finish it you probably won't need to eat for the rest of the day.
Great food. Huevos Rancheros Benedict was awesome! Wonderful service. Everything is homemade. Coffee is really good too. Definitely recommend.
The staff is so friendly, service is great and the food is awesome! Try their own sirracha!
Busy no one upset by wait. Staff helpful on describing items on menu, never felt rushed. Brunch was good coffee too.
Five star food, five star service - an absolute must try if you live in the TC or are visiting the area. Their 'healthy' options blow even the best 'unhealthy' breakfasts out of the water!
Delectable breakfast eats. They've expanded into the spot next for and now have significantly more seating.
The biscuit and gravy was ok. But my husband food was served cold. And they had just ok customer service
A Saint Paul staple for Breakfast. Lots of decent choices and healthier options on the menu. Flavors are a little bit no traditional, without straying too far from the wheel house. A great place to come in and have breakfast and a cup of coffee and work from the cafe all morning. Secret super power of the Tin is the baked goods. CUPCAKES. HOME MADE TWINKIES. COOKIES. Not a Dinner spot, but a great daytime jam for the Lowertown dweller.
Home made Twinkies!!! Say no more!!! Love it
Avocado on toast was delicious and the bacon buttered pancake was also wonderful! We can't wait to go Back! Fantastic spot!
Amazing food with some really inventive dishes and drinks. The Sunday morning mimosa specials had great/unique flavor. They were busy but worth the 30 minute wait.
The food was delicious, reasonably priced (for such a busy, high profile eatery), and came in large portions (neither my partner or I could finish), unike what so many others are saying. We also went during brunch rush hour, were told there was a 25 minute wait, and only had to wait about 10 minutes. I highly recommend this eatery!
The food is great. Even the side salad. Just do it.
Super cool joint. Fantastic baked goods. Fabulous!
One of my favorite lowertown restaurants. Their ginger lemonade and buttermilk biscuits are exceptionally good. Service is always fast and courteous. I ❤️ The Buttered Tin!
Biscuits and Gravy were tasty. Definitely not like the South’s, but a good twist.
Everything about this place was great! The service was everything to be expected, very friendly staff, attentive! The food was outstanding!! Everything we tried was really good! I highly recommend the banana fosters French toast and their daily hash was so good! Kid friendly! I'm docking a star because we were still eating and I had my infant in the highchair next to me and staff used a spray bottle of sanitizer right next to us, very unappetizing to smell that when trying to enjoy food and can be harsh on a new developing set of lungs! Next time spray it on the rag rather then emitting the chemicals into the air, should be policy.. none the less I'd go back! The pastries look fantastic!!
One of the best breakfasts we've ever had. Especially enjoyed the Bananas Foster French Toast. Terrific service.
We arrived as a party for two and the wait was 20 minutes for a Sunday at 10am, so we ordered a glass of champagne and a 7 layer chocolate bar from the bakery case while we waited to be seated (omg the bar was fantastic, easily split for 2 people for only $3). They had complimentary iced lemon water and coffee for the guests waiting to be seated. The serves and kitchen staff were husseling the whole time, not a single employee slacking! We ordered the Crab Cake Benedict and the Rancheros Benedict, both were fantastic, the food came out right away for such a busy restaurant. The dining area and restrooms were extremely clean and our waitress was very nice. Definitley looking forward to trying the pancakes and all the goodies from the bakery case.
Good food, friendly staff. Excellent breakfast. You order from the counter and they bring your order to the table. Not a wide selection, but all orders look tasty.
First time here .. "Damn Good Egg Sandwich tasted fine, however, the white cheddar cheese completely overpowered the bacon. Manager treated me to a coffee cake. *HEAVENLY* Ordered one to go. I bet a BLT plus fried egg would satisfy my palette next time. I will definitely be.back!!! CHEERS!
Food was fine however they didn’t have the jasmine rice and asked us to substituted with hash brown, and charged for the substitution. It was not about the money, but not great impression with this and also with surcharging 5%.
The food was amazing. The portions were big and I loved it!! Good place to eat in St. Paul!!
This is a wonderful place to eat.
Amazing food & service! 10/10 Clean space with lots of bright light, attention to details & DELICIOUS foods that can nourish your day! Shown here is the Avocado toast, cold brew coffee with sides of bacon & sage sausage! We went back up for a huge caramel roll that we split to sweeten the trip! Thanks for the amazing brunch!
A short wait that was completely worth it. Great food. Coffee was good and my cup was always topped off. I had the Pigs Eye. Thick slices of bacon, eggs cooked to perfection, a healthy serving of hash browns and ripe berries.
Had the crab cake benedict and it was excellent. It was nice and light (which is is a beautiful thing as this dish is usually very heavy). Service was top notch in a fast casual setting. Highly recommend.
The food was delicious, the staff was very friendly and accommodating. However, it was quite expensive relative to the serving sizes of the food. Paid $13.50 for a sandwich and got two slider-sized portions. At least it tasted good. They have outdoor seating which is a huge plus on a nice day.
This place is small so expect a wait but it's well worth it. You can sleep the butter down the street!! They have a rotating hash that is awesome.
Great breakfast
A no frills cafe. I got the smashed avocado toast; The only thing lacking is that I wanted more! It was so good. I like that there are healthy options as well as a bakery. There is no personality in the decor or any vibe, so 4 stars for now.
Awesome food and even better service.
Pricey but great food. Love the avacado toast
Smallish selection but everything very tasty!

Got to try the ginger lemonade. Come here often on my lunch break.
Perfect Saturday Brunch. You will have a short wait on a busy weekend, but it’s well worth it!
Went here for Mother's day. Service was great and we got in right away. Good food
Kind of pricey for breakfast. Food was alright.
Awesome outdoor seating on the sidewalk and excellent mimosas. I had the lavender lemonade mimosa and would go back just for that!
I absolutely love this place. The staff is amazing and the food is delicious.
The bananas foster french toast is the best French toast I have ever had in my life. Chill atmosphere.
I love the avocado toast here. I don't care what people say about my generation! This toast is amazing with over easy eggs and free refill coffee!
A short wait that was completely worth it. Great food. Coffee was good and my cup was always topped off. I had the Pigs Eye. Thick slices of bacon, eggs cooked to perfection, a healthy serving of hash browns and ripe berries.
Good service. Really good food
My sister loves coming here when she's in town. I don't get it. My biscuit and gravy kinda sucked. The bread was hard and dry. It was also expensive for the sake of being expensive
Had the crab cake benedict and it was excellent. It was nice and light (which is is a beautiful thing as this dish is usually very heavy). Service was top notch in a fast casual setting. Highly recommend.
You a 5 star brunch!

Best cupcakes. When they say filled, do not think filled gross donut-filled, this is pastry filled perfection with just the right amount of moisture and filling to make it the absolutely best cupcake you've had. We've had everything else around nothing compares to the Buttered Tin. Recommend getting them out of the case! Sometimes the pre-packed ones in the fridge are not as fresh.
It's a bit of a wait to get a table, but it's DEFINITELY worth it. Food was ready so quick (I think it would be safe to say it was just around 5-10 minutes to get out orders) and so so delicious, completely blew my expectations. It is a bit pricey, but food quantity and quality is well worth it. Staff was also super nice even with how busy it was. Definitely recommended!
Always a delicious choice! This is my wife and I's go to breakfast place. Be prepared to wait in line, grab a coffee and a scone to pass the time...worth it!
Biscuits the size of a newborn cat!
Good food in a nice spot downtown, drinks were nice and the staff was friendly. If only there were fewer scooters
Love the Tin. Caramel roll should be illegal!!
The biscuits and gravy were absolutely delicious!!!
Good and reasonably priced food, mostly breakfast type dishes and sandwiches, in a relaxed informal setting. Plenty of on street parking close by.
Well, this place used to be a lot of home-y kind people coming to support a home-grown who did beautiful things with flavors. Now it's a mini-mall with a wait-list. Oh, and the top of the menu, in true passive-aggressive Minnesota Nice asks you not to linger after you've had your meal. SERIOUSLY?
Excellent food and a fun, cozy space. But, you'll pay a premium price to find out you have to walk your coffee cup back to the counter for a refill.
Best breakfast spot in MN
Homemade everything! Fresh, wholesome food. Great location, nice staff, original entrées. Unique bakery items x
Walked here from the River Center for a breakfast prior an event that I was early for. The food was great! If I had more time, I would have left with some baked goods as well. I will be back for sure!
Love this place. Everything is delicious. The bakery will make you want more. Highly recommend.
The food is consistently good, and the bakery is even better. My only complaint is that I wish they had spicier hot sauce available.
I truly enjoy every experience here. Service is fantastic and the breakfast is TOP NOTCH. Biscuits & gravy are a huge hit. So addicting! Don't waste your time looking anywhere else to eat breakfast, come here!
A bit expensive for breakfast. Food was good not great. Lettuce did not taste washed.
Yum!!! Very good breakfast. They serve a big portion. So cool that is also a bakery and everything is home made. Loooooved the pressed orange juice. I would absolutely go back with my family!
These are some delicious breakfast meals! I don't know what I recommend more. The drinks are great, the meals and treats are great, and there seems to be enough space for everybody.
We had the huevos rancheros Benedict and the crab cake Benedict and both were fantastic. Excellent food, great service, local sourcing, and a welcoming atmosphere. Strong recommendation.
My +1 and I split a BLT with chips. Good. I'd love to stop by for afternoon coffee sometime but parking is hard to find and expensive downtown St. Paul.
Great food and service!
Amazing food for the price. Perfectly sized portions. Love that a salad comes with your breakfast to start the day of right. Worth the hour and half drive up.
Great breakfast place right by lower town. Prices are a little high but definitely worth it. I had the Hash and Huevos Rancheros Benedict. Both were great.
Food is excellent. Pig's Eye Breakfast is my favorite. The eggs are always well cooked. The fruit is ripe and in season. The bread and jam are fresh baked and a good compliment to the rest of the meal.
Delightful service, delicious food.
The food is always so good and fresh! The bakery is amazing!
The best cup cakes I ever had. Try yourself and you will find the difference between the cup cakes you get in stores and here.Freshly made everyday. I didn't eat the other items but with the look and smell it looks good and you might really enjoy the other foods. They also take birthday cake orders. You will like this place. Check out when you want to treat yourself or your close ones ;)
Start your morning with a sake bloody mary or a mimosa. Then follow with a deliciously prepared breakfast. The Buttered Tin has a wonderful atmosphere and a great menu. If I lived in the area I would be a regular.
Took some friends here who were in from out east because I keep hearing how amazing it is. Luckily, we went on a weekday because it's a small place and really well liked. It was my first time also and it was TO DIE FOR. I got the huevos rancheros Benedict. The cornbread was an unexpected delicious twist, all the flavors were amazing, and the egg was cooked perfectly. I really appreciated the side salad with the vinaigrette because it broke up richness of the egg yolk and was really fresh. I also got the lavender mimosa and chocolate chip scone. My friends all agreed my mimosa was the best out of the different flavors we got and I really enjoyed the scone. It was crumbly and light and moist on the inside.
Great good and service.
So glad I found this gem while visiting St. Paul. The friendliest staff, and the most amazing food/baked goods. Make this place a priority if you are in the area, you won't regret it!
Wonderful, creative breakfast dishes served in a casual diner atmosphere. The staff are courteous and helpful. The coffee is hot and fresh and the food is made to order. I had the huevos rancheros benedict and the sauce had the perfect amount of spiciness, the corn bread was delicious and the poached eggs were perfect. I highly recommend this restaurant if your in the area and want a delicious breakfast.
The food was delicious! The table service was quick.
The bananas foster changed my life. Everything here is delicious and fast. I have since moved from St. Paul, and have yet to find a place that compares. Highly recommend!!!!
The food was decent, maybe a little higher priced than I expected, but overall quality was good. The coffee was pretty weak for my liking, but for those that like a light to medium roast then this is your place.
The Buttered Tin is one of my favorite breakfast stops in the Twin Cities. The food is always excellent, and the staff and customers are fun. The breakfast menu uses locally sourced ingredients, and the portions are perfectly sized. If you still have room, there is always an excellent selection of baked goods to choose from.
I visited the Buttered Tin today with my daughters. We waited for our table a little less than expected. We chose to eat outside. We were seated and then no one gave us menus or water for 10 minutes. Then it took another 10 minutes to place our order. It took another 30 minutes for our food to arrive. I drank my cup of coffee while waiting for our food but never was given anymore coffee with our food. The food was delicious, which was a good thing because our waitress never came back to ask. After eating we waited 20 minutes for our bill and the waitress made a comment to us. She said, "Oh I just got 5 tables and I guess you are ready for your bill." She took my debit card and said she would be back. She came back with the receipt and the card. Like I said before the food was delicious but the service was less than expected. I'm not sure if someone called in sick.
Tasty, fresh, beautifully prepared food. Long line moves fast and efficiently. Lovely indoor and outdoor seating. The minimal service needed is pleasant and helpful. Great meal spot plugs hole in neighborhood.
Called ahead this morning to make sure they had cinnamon rolls available and she said they just took them out of the oven. Walked right over and after picking them up to-go, we opened them. They are as hard as rocks. Exceptionally disappointing.
Great service! fantastic food! Not along wait!
Fresh food prepared perfectly
It's the classic American breakfast diner. Food was good but for the all-day-every-day wait time I'm not sure I'd say it's worth it. Seriously, I'm not sure there's ever a time to get there when you won't wait at least 30 minutes to be seated. They don't have much for lunch cocktails and do not make bloody Mary's :-(
We came here for breakfast on a cold Minnesota morning. The popularity of this place was apparent with the long line, which only built the anticipation. Portions are a bit small for the price, but every bite was full of flavor.
Great breakfast place! We have ordered both the truffle chocolate cake and the tbt hoho cake for pickup and both were absolutely phenomenal! You won’t be disappointed with their baked goods. As with any other great breakfast joint, be prepared to wait for breakfast seating on weekends around 10 OH WAIT I FORGOT THE CINNAMON ROLLS. get one to go if you can’t eat it for breakfast. They heat up well and are so yummy.
Nice place.
Fantastic place for brunch. It's a small place that can get packed so you probably should call ahead to check the wait time. They have a small bakery with delicious items you can get. They have drinks like Irish coffee and mimosas if you want those too. Nothing to complain about here!
Delicious food, friendly staff, great coffee.
I only had an hour for breakfast between shifts, so I invited my family and we decided to eat here. Street parking right out front was about $2 for an hour, and there was a short wait at the register before we got our orders in and took our seats. Despite the amazing attention to detail each plate was given (presentation is great!), our food was out fast and was delicious! I had the biscuits and gravy, fantastic biscuits that maintained flakiness despite the ample gravy. We split a cinnamon bun which had a wonderful buttery caramel sauce without being too rich. Everything was so fresh. My niece (a teenager) didn't like the biscuits and gravy (but still ate half of it). I'll definitely be coming back to this place!
Amazing food and friendly staff. This is my lunch hour oasis. I only eat humainly raised meat, so I love that I can come here and eat anything. I love the burger of the day. Seasoned well and always pleasantly surprising.
Food was amazing. Service was excellent. Everything people has was amazing.
Ordered avacado toast and realized it was a mistake. Vegan cookie was great though
TBT is always good the best! Service is great, staff is warm & friendly. The food is cooked to perfection and beautifully presented. We think the portions are a good size. We keep going back for the best breakfast in town!
Great experience on our first visit. Hot & great tasting coffee! Side pancake with maple bacon butter & side of ham..Awesome choice! No need for the syrup. My husband had the biscuits & gravy...and a cinnamon roll. Exquisite! Wonderful staff..foodies..they know food and are real. We will be back. Thank you for caring. We tasted the care more & love in the food and atmosphere.
Long wait to get in at 10am Sunday but to be expected. Food was good. Yummy ginger lemonade. Delicious crab cake Benedict, biscuits and gravy were extremely filling. Bakery items must be delicious because they were pretty much gone. Would recommend. Parking however can be a pain.
This was better than I expected! The lavender mimosa was a little heavy on the lavender... The food was spectacular. The staff was super helpful and amazing. It was a little pricey and on the weekends, nothing is open around it. I would definitely go back.
If you want an elevated breakfast that is casual, delicious, and made from great ingredients make time for this place some morning. Decent coffee. Amazing baked goods. Adorable interior. Clever menu. Bring a small group (1-3 of your favorite people) and you're bound to have an excellent breakfast experience without paying an arm and a leg for it. Try a biscuit. They're amazing. The only negative aspect of this place is its size combined with how popular it is. It's hard to get a table immediately and there's not a great waiting area. Given our climate, that makes it a difficult wait like 6 months of the year. Hence 4 stars.
Never had a bad meal here. Food today was delicious as always. ✔️Bananas Foster French toast ✔️Loaded Hash Browns w/Guajillo chilli braised pork and beer cheese ✔️BACON!
Yummy grilled cheese sandwich. The cider vinaigrette is also super good.
I’ve been wanting to try this place for a long time. It lived up to the hype. Easily one of the best breakfasts in the cities. Great variety and a fun atmosphere.
This is a place that you can smell a block away...the scent of their cinnamon rolls whets the appetite before stepping foot in the door. Their menu houses classic breakfast fare and some unique specials. The staff are friendly and efficient. Space is limited but not overcrowded. Pricing is reasonable for the quality.
Cool atmosphere
This is my second time here. The first time I was here there was a big in my salad. Now there was hair in my sandwich. I let them know right away. The manager did not even come out to apologize. This will definitely be my last time coming to this establishment.
Small portions, and not very good tasting: huevos rancheros Benedict, and tacos (shared with husband). Big salad (with hardly any dressing) disguises small entree.
This is an amazing cafe but if visiting on the weekend be prepared for a long wait. It's worth it though.
Good amount of variety between traditional breakfast items and lunch based sandwiches. Expect to wait to be seated and I wouldn't go with more than 6 people between 10 and noon. Prompt and friendly service.
Tasty carrot ginger soup and hveous rancheros
When I visited it was crowded I understand the difficulty of making a good first impression when all the tables are full. Sadly my experience was lackluster. Bakery was excellent But look before you leap
Best biscuits and gravy I've ever had. Portion sizes are huge. Would highly recommend!
Hidden gem in St. Paul! The staff is amazingly sweet and knowledgeable. Food, beverages and bakery items are delectable. Very cute, cozy, and uplifting environment.
One of the best cinnamon rolls and coffee with breakfast I've ever had. There was a wait but we went at prime time 9am on a Saturday. Once in the restaurant it was bright and lively. Food tastes great, we ordered a side of sausage that turned out to be too spicy for the kids. They quickly exchanged it for bacon. So very good service kudos.
We love the caramel rolls. We have to hold ourselves back from visiting every weekend just for the rolls. Great bananas foster and I love the Pig's Eye w/ excellent bread, jam and sage sausage. Get there early on the weekend or prepare for an hour or more wait.
Amazing food, amazing people. I don't usually like reubens, but after trying a few things on the menu, I asked the owner what I should get and the Reuben was her immediate response. It was amazing. The Cubano is a great interpretation of that classic sandwich. The chips are amazing. The best thing about all of the food is that every dish has something unique about it, so no matter what you get, you won't be bored with it.
I always take my chances with what the staff recommends. When you ask for a side of fruit it is more then cantalope. Sizings are appropriate for the prices
I love this place. Awesome food. We went on a super chilly day just to have a wonderful breakfast. It crowded at times , in the morning until 10 ish and from 12-2. But they still have a pretty fast service. I am not big fan of coffee so I haven't tried it there but the hot chocolate was great.
Cinnamon Rolls are where it's at. If they have them, get one.
Really enjoyed the homemade biscuits and breakfast.
Food was good. Service good.
The homemade cinnamon roll was so delicious and buttery! The drinks where properly strong. Staff very friendly.
Super fast service and the crab cake benedict is to die for! You won't be disappointed!
I really don't want to tell you this is a great place because then it may get busier.
Parking can be an issue and seating can be tough but it is worth every hurdle to eat here.
They have a very interesting cafe style set up here that is well worth it if you are looking for delicious food. The caliber of food would make you think you are at a sit down establishment with maître D' service, but having to go to the counter for coffee refills will be the least of your worries here. Also they have the most delicious desserts around.
Very friendly and hardworking staff. Its bad that I canr rate it at a 10 ;). Super tasty pancakes and entrees. Thank you for making our trip worth it.
Great food service
The food was great!! And I will definitely be returning!! Check it out for yourself.
No words will be spoken at the table once the plate has been placed in front of you. Happiness bursting with flavor. The Buttered Tin is usually packed, but believe me..... IT'S WORTH EVERY MOMENT YOU WAIT.
This place somehow ruined brunch.
Delicious, beautiful interior and nice staff. Super fast service. Long lines so go early or be prepared to wait!
Wonderful experience. Great food. The hostess was beautiful.
No complaints, just didn't live up to the hype.
The best breakfast place in the Cities. Everything is just amazing. It's often a long wait to get in, but if you can be patient enough it's beyond worth it.
Great breakfast/ brunch. It's all they do!
This place is always, I mean always packed. But it’s packed because the food is phenomenal. Best breakfast in Saint Paul
Great customer service and some of the best food we have had! Will definitely be back!!
Extremely Next Level Delicious! Kinda expensive.
Excellent food, so tasty, great service. I would go back again.
This place did have good food now it's terrible
I've heard such great things about this place, so my best friend and I had to go check it out for brunch. It was quite busy, with a loud atmosphere. Our estimated wait was about half hour to forty-five minutes. It was well worth it! Sat down by the host and the waitress was very helpful and sweet. Since it was our first time there, she took her time to explain their specials, menu items and drink options. We started off with mimosas and coffee. We both ordered their pancakes and wow, their butter made it even more special as it consists of bacon and maple! I decided to get the Buttered Tin Hash, and it was amazing! The portion was just right, even though I wasn't able to finish it, it was worth it :) After brunch, we went back to order come bakery goods from the counter. It was a good breakfast experience!
This place has the most amazing cinnamon roll I have every had!!! Everything was delicious. Your going to spend a little more but well worth it and they have some organic and gluten free options.
Wonderful breakfast. I bought two loaves of bread to go.
Really cozy breakfast and light food kind of place. I had delicious homestyle herby biscuits & gravy with two beautifully poached eggs. Was too full to try the cinnamon bun, but hopefully I can come back tomorrow morning!
Was busy and had a bit of a wait but the food was great!
Excellent coffee and unique spins on breakfast classics.
Terrible weight watchers location. 0/10, all the food was delicious.
The hot chocolate with cream is really nice. Some of the food is too salty. Nice environment and good service.
The breakfast food here is always delicious and they have a variety of mimosa options. Just a couple of blocks from Mears park and an out door lot as well as a fair amount of street parking means it's easy to get to if you live near by or need to drive a bit. One of our favorite breakfast spots.
The food is good. But they are not good with substitutions. They charge you the full menu price even if you are doing substitutions
This is a popular place for breakfast in the Cities. My daughter and I waited to be seated for about a half hour on a Saturday morning, which is to be expected. Upon entering, we noted that at least a third of the tables were empty. Staff shortage? Food and coffee are good though.
Found a piece of plastic in the food. Received a refund only on the affected dish
Fantastic all around: food, service, and atmosphere are top notch. Enjoyed a delightful champagne cocktail with my scrambled egg special. A simple salad in a fresh dressing perfectly rounded out the meal. They expect folks to move on after they've finished rather than linger, and it makes sense: there always seems to be a wait. Wish they'd open a location in KC. Can't wait to get back and try something else on their menu. Go here.
I love going to the buttered tin. The staff is wonderful and welcoming, and the food is always delicious.
Unique menu delivered flawlessly. Worth every penny. Great food and service. The TBT hash and banana foster French toast is a perfect savory/sweet combo.
We are visiting from Ft Lauderdale Fl for a wedding and we're looking for a local breakfast spot. We found The Buttered Tin on Google and the reviews were amazing so we had to try it. We were absolutely not disappointed! The service was fast and super friendly and the food was amazing! It's a really great casual yet chic spot for a great breakfast.
Great breakfast lunch!
Quick service and cozy atmosphere. Buscuits and gravy were delicious!
We went here for breakfast on Monday morning, the day after our wedding. It was just a few blocks north of our hotel; my wife had been there before but I hadn't. I and several others ordered the Bananas Foster French Toast, but the menu was nice and diverse. Someone got gluten-free breakfast tacos that looked amazing, and others got pancakes with maple bacon butter or breakfast hash that looked very healthy. I can only speak to the taste of the french toast, but, oh my gosh, they were amazing. Not too sweet, and no syrup needed; the sauce was sufficient. It was beautiful, large, and delicious. I ate every bite happily. The coffee was good as well, and the mugs were large. I guess the prices were a bit higher than a standard diner, but I still think it was an excellent value.
The food was delicious! A nice bright atmosphere, too.
Great breakfast - buttermik pancakes with pure maple syrup and berries too. Delicious! You order your food at a counter and it is delivered to your table. Sharp responsive staff and reasonable prices. Some bakery goods for sale as well.
Excellent food and friendly service. Wait times can build during peak periods, but it's worth the wait.
Excellent, but ovvvver priced.
Great pastries. Breakfast/brunch is very good but the prices are high and the lines are long.
Delicious and interesting food.
Friendly staff, delicious food. I had the "Damn Good Breakfast Sandwich" and it was excellent. Free refills on good coffee which paired very well with my caramel roll.
Stopped by for Saturday brunch. 20 minute wait at around 11:30, but grabbed coffee across the street so wasn't an inconvenience. Fast and friendly service, bright and cheery atmosphere, busy. The lavender mimosas were delicious and were generously sized. The food came fast despite it being busy. Got the breakfast tacos (good, but could've used some lime slices/limey sour cream, maybe some cilantro). Partner got the huevos rancheros, I was told they were "perfect". Getting the check and paying was really fast because they have handheld card swipers at-table. Were in and out quickly for a sit down meal. Would come again!
Great breakfast, lunch, and bakery! Very popular so plan accordingly.
The food here is stellar. Everything I have tried has been fantastic. You can't miss out on the baked goods either. It's on the pricier side, but it is absolutely worth it for a great breakfast or lunch.
Amazing food! I loved the crab cake eggs Benedict. Our service was quick and our waitress Natalie was very Sweet! I'd come again.
Nice little spot in St. Paul. I had a breakfast sandwich for about $12. I think that's too much for bacon, egg, and cheese biscuit. It was really good but a little too expensive.
The Cubano was super tasty. Everyone in the group enjoyed their meals. Great brunch menu too
This is a great breakfast spot. Got here around 10am on a Saturday morning and only waotined about 20 minutes for a table. A nice touch is being able to order some coffee from the counter while you wait. The food was delicious; we had the bananas foster French toast and huevos rancheros Benedict. It all came out in good time. The staff was friendly and kept our coffees filled.
One of my favorite breakfast places in town! Breakfast sandwich and biscuits and gravy are winner's.
Oh my goodness! The Buttered Tin has fabulous breakfast! The baked goods are great! You shouldn’t linger as there is always a line of folks waiting for a table. I truly enjoyed my eggs Benedict with crab. Arrive early!
The Buttered Tin is small but always packed with great flavor. I love that the menu is always changing and an innovative nod to local and seasonal flavors.
Just a terrific breakfast and lunch place. More breakfast items than lunch but so far everything I've ordered has been just delicious. Huevos and Pigs Eye breakfast. Staff is exceptional. Always checking to make sure you have what you want.
Their breakfast was awesome. I am going to make this place a weekly spot to eat at!
One of my breakfast faves! Great food, great coffee and pleasant staff. The line can be long on weekends so go early!
Not great for groups of more than 4. Really busy early afternoon on Saturday. The food was diverse and tasty.
Absolutely the best cinnamon roll I’ve ever had! Tasty food at a good price.
The Buttered Tin is a must-visit whenever I am in town. It’s great for a casual get together a with friends or family. Their breakfasts and salads are all fantastic. Crab cakes Benedict is a favorite. The Reuben I ordered this time was fairly pedestrian, but was redeemed by the oatmeal raisin whoopie cookie we ordered for dessert. The staff is friendly and helpful and didn’t mind that we chatted there for almost two hours. They even reminded us of free refills on the coffee.
Saturday morning or Sunday morning in St Paul it is the place to go for breakfast. They're very accommodating and very helpful. The food is wonderful. Order the sausage gravy on biscuit and you will be amazed.
The food was great! We are hear visiting from San Diego Ca and it's our first time visiting Minneapolis St. Paul. Our server was Anne and she was very attentive and on top of it! Filling our coffee and tea and making sure we didn't need anything.
Love the vibe, look, and food of this shindig! Ordered biscuits and gravy and my gosh, it was the best biscuits and gravy I've had. Tried this place for the first time and there was no disappointment. Wonderful people and wonderful food!
Excellent cupcakes... and everything else!
The coffee is fantastic! Counter service. The sausage is wonderful! Biscuits and gravy are different then I've ever had, they had sprouts and tomatoes on top. Not my favorite yeah, but not bad either. Definitely different! The baked goods look amazing, didn't have time to have any.
Best breakfast I've ever had anywhere.
Everything I've had here is delicious. It's a cozy place, and I'm so glad it's here in St. Paul!
Best baked goods in town. Twinkeys are amazing.
Really fun atmosphere and very good food. Our server was awesome and helpful. Would definitely recommend, however they only have street parking so it's kind of hard to get a spot if you go during a busy time.
Breakfast tacos are tasty and are generously portioned. They have some gluten free options if you need that. Lots of hot sauces to choose from.
We love it! Everything was so fresh and delicious.
Great cupcakes for our daughters wedding!
I absolutely love the Buttered Tin! The food is wonderful and the pasteries are absolutely fantastic. My little girls love to come here and sample all they have to offer!
I was denied a service today because I was caring a little dog in a zipped purse. I had no problem at various high end restaurants, however this place chose to chase us away.
The Buttered Tin is nestled in the heart of Lowertown, Saint Paul. Parking is relatively easy on the weekend and there are plenty of places to park your bike. The staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the food sold. The menu options were unique and varied and perfect for breakfast or lunch. We had the pork belly sandwich and the eggs Benedict. Both were presented wonderfully and were colorful. The eggs Benedict were better than any other place in the cities we have tried and the pork belly sandwich was one of the best. The Buttered Tin is a great option for a casual Sunday brunch in Saint Paul. Pro tip: sometimes there are half priced deserts towards close which is at 3!
Last time I came here was over a year ago because the hash I ordered tasted like day old just heated up. This past weekend I decided to give this place another chance. We checked in for a table at 11:15a, got a table for two half hour later. I understand a chef was out due to illness, but no one else was called and they were seating for their entire space without telling anyone the wait time for food
Counter order breakfast spot with heart warming dishes. I got the special - pork belly, apple compote hashbrown scramble.
Delicious food and an amazing, friendly staff!
Order at the counter. Then grab a water. Then have a seat. Google shows a duck pho, but they don't have that. The owner should review the Google maps menu. I had the beef short rib Reuben. Very rich. A touch salty, but a nice creation. I would like to return for breakfast.
Great place with very unique flavors. You can't go wrong with the biscuits and gravy; it's a much lighter gravy with fantastic herbaceous and floral flavors
Meh. Greasy. But Mimosas are a bonus.
I hate this place. There are not enough space to wait. I waited for about 30minutes outside. The food are great but its a waste of time. I lost 30 whole minutes. I am not coming back. Never.
I love the buttered tin! Great downtown location and very cute interior. Love the patio on warmer days. Creative food + drink options with a mix of Mexican flair. Also tasty baked goods, esp the cinnamon rolls!
You need breakfast and you're downtown.. Buttered Tin.
Best crab cake Benedict and banana fosters. Amazing
Not impressed. Very surprised with the amount of positive reviews. Food was okay but can pick from any of the other nearby options for a better experience. The buttermilk pancakes were okay but needed a lot of syrup because they were thick and somewhat dry. Rancheros Benedict was very small and nothing special. The Bloody Mary’s were awful- very salty. Couldn’t even finish it. The hash browns were covered in grease. Best thing about the meal was the beer we got with Bloody’s. Servers were friendly but left feeling very dissatisfied. Won’t be back.
Great food, great staff, great space. Every time it seems to be difficult to find anything to be critical about.
Great service! The Biscuits and Gravy was bright and flavorful. I would recommend The Buttered Tin to my friends!
Stopped for breakfast on a Monday morning, the staff and the food is fantastic! We both ordered the pigs eye breakfast. I opted for the home fries and they were delicious! Potatoes mixed in with roasted onions and peppers, what's not to love? As you can see, my meal was delicious.
Tasty food, nice environment, great coffee (free refills), just a little pricey. Overall would definitely recommend for brunch!
Great food. Small location so there's usually a wait, but it's worth it.
Trendy diner in St.Paul recommend going early, great service, amazing delicious food and sizable portions.
Great food good staff when the restaurant is busy it’s very hard to have a conversation.
My favorite place for brunch in the Twin Cities! We also used the Buttered Tin for our Wedding and our guests loved all of the desserts.
I love The Buttered Tin! Good coffee, great ambiance, delicious food and bakery items. I recommend the breakfast tacos, huevos rancheros Benedict, and banana foster French toast if you're in the mood for something sweet. Get a hand pie to take home!
First of all it is very expensive, the guest need to wait for long time to be sitting, the staff gets stress out during the weekends and they are not very helpful running their business. The kitchen staff it was running very well everything in their section preparing the food fast but the hostess and the cashiers were complex to work with. Very Dissatisfied.
Delicious food and really personable service! Also, had an amazing Arnold Palmer here!
I do love the fact everything's homemade and not really processed, but its a bit pricey--portion doesn't fit price. The staff has the most upbeat attitude and great energy.
Hands down the best breakfast spot in St Paul. Get the breakfast Tacos , they have delicious home made mole sauce. The loaded hashbrowns are kickass too!
Excellent food. Great staff.
Best place for breakfast in the Twin Cities. Friends took me for my birthday. I had the Bananas Foster French Toast, and it was to die for. Loved it so much I'm going back now to introduce my husband to the wonderful food. I'd also like …
Fantastic breakfast place
Awesome service and food.worth the wait!
Nice breakfast joint.
We were on a slight time crunch, so we wanted to get our food togo, when the cashier went back to ask the chef if he could do it, he looked very annoyed and said he couldn't have it ready for at least another 30 minutes, which was fine with us, but the way the staff reacted and handled the situation was very off putting. Especially, on a Sunday with 4 tickets in the window at 2pm.... On the other hand, the food was tasty, and we were happy with that. If we would have had time to wait for a table, we would have. We will definitely be back to try the food again and give the service another chance.
Best bakery and breakfast in town.
Good breakfast sandwich food. Great street views. Portions could be larger with sandwiches. Sides are extra. They could provide chips with sandwiches. Table service on weekends only. No parking lot..so one has to pay for meter parking.
Just avoid, the food is incredibly overpriced and there are so many better options in the surrounding area without the associated long wait times, generally bad service and food that really is nothing special. The space is crowded, loud and claustrophobic. People are saying good things about the food, but honestly, it's no better (possibly somewhat less impressive) than anywhere else you can get an overpriced brunch at.
Breakfast was amazing! My boyfriend said the Bloody Mary was one of the best he has had! Service was great too!
This was the first time I had lunch at Buttered Tin. It was fresh, tasty and came out quickly. Everyone in my group enjoyed their food.
This place is awesome. Was planning to potentially go a socnd time but ran out of time. Really good
Food was good with a nice atmosphere but they forgot a portion of my to go order and my drinks so not a great overall experience
Delicious breakfast/lunch eatery with a French country feel. Lots of food for the price. Metered street parking out front payable with credit card, coin meters around the block.
Two tortilla tacos, scrambled eggs, salsa avocado, chorizo... What could be better at brunch. Loved it.
Great breakfast options!
