Amazing restaurant! I ordered the volcano burger with an egg on top and breakfast potato side for $22 (I got coffee too). The portion size is good so you're guaranteed to leave full. Let me tell you, the world would be a better place if everyone ate these crispy potatoes. Perfectly crispy. If I were a better writer I would attempt to describe the burger's taste but I'll just say it was delicious. The service was very fast but that could be because I came at a slower time, 2 p.m. on a Sunday. Very helpful and polite people as well!

Probably the smallest, slowest and most expensive breakfast I’ve had in Minneapolis. By far the worst service I’ve ever seen in a restaurant, I get your trying to do it differently but it’s a complete joke. I’d recommend going literally anywhere else.

I want to like this place more because I really like the menu and it has potential, but based on my experience on Saturday evening 6/23 I thought the execution was poor. I do want to mention that the ladies working at the counter were great and I feel that it's the kitchen staff that are not so great. I ordered the turkey, bacon, and avocado sandwich with a side salad with the blueberry vinegarette(the dressing was amazing). The sandwich was missing the avocado and the mayo was just globbed in the middle of the bread rather than being spread around... is that how you like your sandwiches??? I also feel that sandwich should be served on toasted bread. My salad had a rotten cherry tomato on it as well, which I feel could be caught by the kitchen staff if they chose to pay a little more attention to detail when slicing and prepping food. Not rushing back here anytime soon.

I really do enjoy this place, but the last 3 times I was here, they messed up my order. I write it out very specifically, just instead of Gouda cheese I'd like Swiss in the grilled cheese sandwich. Two of the three times they still put Gouda in there, and one of the times they stuck tomatos in the sandwich -- it's a grilled cheese only?? No idea why they did that. I'm not sure if there's a new cook or they're putting in my order wrong or what. I like the food a lot, would just prefer if it didn't get messed up every time I came.

I like this place. I had breakfast and was able to choose my cheese and vegetables and meat for my burrito. I got the signature bad waitress burrito. It was delicious. I like the motif they had a lot of old movie posters of monsters and aliens with damsels in distress. I asked why they call it the bad waitress? Was it because you don't really have a waitress, you fill out your order bring it to the cashier pay for it, and then they bring your meal. No, it's named after a book and in the book the waitress was a badass! LOL

The name “The Bad Waitress” is a fun nod to the customer needing to fill out a slip and walk to the counter to order, but every “waitress” (person behind the counter) I’ve ever met here is SO NICE. This place has a buzzy, friendly, “homey” vibe. In the summer the huge windows slide up and you can get an abundance of fresh air even while sitting in a booth. Don’t forget to stop by for happy hour. They have great specials.

Excellent vegetarian options. We got the central valley veggie wrap and an out-of-the-way the scrambler. Both were delicious! The homemade strawberry jam was amazing! The restaurant itself has a very cool aesthetic and atmosphere. You write your order on a notepad at the table and bring it up to pay, which was original and fun!! Despite the name, the staff there were all very friendly!

Treat yourself, do not cheat yourself! This is an excellent restaurant, and the counter service is fantastic. Great atmosphere and cool people. This is seriously great food. The quality of the ingredients is obvious from the first bite; everything is so fresh. You can see and taste the love that they put into it. I would also recommend this to anyone who is vegetarian, or if you have a vegetarian friend. The menu has a ton of options and so it's easy to please everyone. A rating of 3.9 is actually a little mind boggling. This is an easy and strong 5.

Friendly staff over the lunch hour. You write your own order and bring it up to pay and they deliver your food to the table. Food took a little longer than expected, but was delicious. Burgers come with tortillas and salsa which is a nice change from the usual chips or fries.

I absolutely love this place. The atmosphere is so relaxed, and the food is always amazing. I usually get breakfast no matter the time of day and I’m always impressed with the variety and quality of choices on the menu. The unique set-up and casual atmosphere also makes it a perfect spot to come on my own if I am hungry but need to sit and study or work for a while on my computer, especially when it’s not too busy like weekday mid mornings and afternoons. You also can’t beat the free coffee refills before 2pm :)

I always have the Volcano Burger which came with lots of fresh sliced red onions this time really good guacamole and beautiful lettuce and tomato slices. Plus they got my hash browns well done I prefer it that way! They have good music and odd video playing above the counter service area. Fantastic caring wait staff and location.

Went for happy hour drinks only. The prices are quite good on a limited selection of quality beer. This doesn't cater to everyone but it was just what we wanted. It was also quiet and comfortable enough to have an easy conversation.

Really cool place to get breakfast or get your brunch on. It had a friendly atmosphere along with old b-movie posters on the walls. Seems like a good place for a quick bite, there were quite a few people stopping in for takeout as I ate my meal. Interesting way to order by filling out the card, but it's easy enough to figure out.

Had a great dinner here. Heard some bad reviews from some of our friends but wanted to see for ourselves. Walked in on a Thursday night and got a table right away. Got drinks very quickly too. My old fashioned was super strong and good. Wife ordered the bees knees and she liked it as well. Ordered our food and it did take longer than expected to get it. My wife ordered the bad burger and it was okay, nothing to write home about. I ordered the trash browns and they were amazing! Garrett was a great bartender/server!

This place is better when it's not busy. You have to go up and order your food in a true cafeteria-style setting. When it's busy and they have to order incorrect or they miss something you have to go back in line until you get to the register once again. The food was fine and nothing to complain about it's just the service part that can get annoying if it's busy which it typically is during the morning hours.

Good concept, poor execution. Staff was nice, but couldn’t execute delivery of order. Waited over 20 minutes for a cup of black coffee. Kitchen doesn’t seem to be able to manage food. Took over an hour for a pretty simple dish. Food came out with rotting avocado that nobody caught before it hit the table. Overall I don’t think this place is worth the effort and money.

The volcano is such a great burger, albeit kinda pricey. The water is self service, but not cold. The ordering system is really simple and cool, but the cashier didn't pay attention to what I wrote. They had the windows rolled up, which was soo nice to sit inside and have the cool night breeze come through.

This place definitely lives up to its name: bad waitress and while I get it, it doesn't say very slow kitchen. When we got there we were told it will take 30-45 min for food which I was ok with since I wanted pancakes! The food was served 105min later. I noticed the kitchen didn't make any food for nearly 30 min. The ladies before us left ( I don't know if they got their money back or not since you pay upfront). I won't go back not even for pancakes. The NE location is much better!

I get it, but the system is kinda silly and illogical. While everyone is standing at the register to place their order and pay, the food could be getting made and you wouldn't have a hoard of annoyed people standing at the door. I guess, if you have nothing better to do and time to kill, it's fine.

When you first go there it’s a bit confusing on how to order. I did my best on my second drink and sat at the table, filled out a form, then took it to the counter. Apparently that wasn’t the right way, because the waitress came over to me and more or less scolded me, and said something to the effect that she needed to start a tab. Cool place, cool vibe, but it lives up to its name when you describe it as the bad waitress. I won’t go back. I kind of felt that I was perceived as an idiot because I didn’t know how to order.

The reason i am giving a two stars is that the food is great here but the service not so much. We came here a week ago really enjoyed the food and decided to do a friends brunch the following week even made the reservation three days ahead. We came here with friends total of 4 adults and 3 kids for brunch on Sunday. We arrived at the restaurant at our reservation time 8:45 am and was asked to leave at 10 o’clock because they have another reservation for 11 people that are coming in. We weren’t done with our food and purchased bottomless mimosa each only had one but was asked to leave with a plate of pancakes that was not even touched yet. Plus the restaurant weren’t even busy at the time and have tons of empty tables.

I love this diner! It’s really close to my apartment, parking isn’t difficult at all depending on how far you are willing to walk. The food is well priced. The Carmella coffee is my favorite a must have. The employees here are so friendly and nice I love them. It gets really busy at times and they’re great at controlling the line and being friendly.

I ordered their breakfast burrito. I'm a vegetarian so I asked if they could also add vegan sausage to my burrito. When it came out I noticed that all they put in my breakfast burrito was the vegan sausage and some cheese. It was terrible. The eggs and everything else was missing from the burrito. The side of breakfast potatoes which I ordered also came burnt and was not edible. This place is disappointing and lives up to the "Bad" in Bad Waitress for sure.

We (husband and myself) had a great dinner last night. Our son introduced us to the restaurant many years ago. It was a 5 star restaurant then. Several years ago it's quality seemed to drop. So we stopped going for awhile. We went back last night. It was excellent again. Booths were filled and people were enjoying their meals. We had the Tuna Melt. It's a sandwich I have been ordering for over a decade. Since I rarely order tuna out there must be something about their combination of tuna, cheese, tomato, red onion, and ginger that is perfect. Likewise for the Breakfast Potatoes. So good!! The rosemary vegetable soup was yummy. We will be going back.

Do you like breakfast food at any time of the day?! This is the place for you. Their scrambles are delish, they have free coffee refills until 2pm, and if you're there into the evening they have great HH deals on wine and beer! There for Sunday brunch?! Today was my second time coming to Bad Waitress. We had friends in town from Fargo & from Green Bay, so we decided to take them here for brunch. They seemed to love the atmosphere and the food. Nobody was even remotely disappointed in their food. Oh, wait, I guess someone did think the syrup was “fake syrup” (not maple?) but we didn’t bother to ask and continued on our merry way. Love how they have customizable dishes so you can have anything to your liking.

This restaurant should be called The Slow Cooks instead. Today we ordered our food and waited an hour to get our meals (four of us). In that time, another table asked what was taking their meals so long, and another table changed their dine-in meal to a to-go order. We had no communication about why the food was taking so long either. One other thing I have to comment on was that one of the cooks had a long beard and didn’t wear any kind of net and he didn’t have any gloves when placing the chips on the plate. With that said, we had no problems with our food except that they accidentally made two reubens instead of a Reuben and a Rachel. They quickly corrected the problem though and the food was decent diner food. The salsa was fantastic though. I’m afraid this was a bad day for the restaurant so I’ll be going back to give it another try but for now it deserves 2 stars.

I usually get the eggs benedict dish with the hollandaise on the side because it can be too much. Good location. Depending on the time of day, you could get good parking on nicollet without paying. It's called bad waitress because the waitress doesn't come to your table to take your order. You fill out a slip at your table then bring it up to the register. I think the ambiance could be better. They could add more culture and diversity in the place.

A diner with a lot of kitschy and fun decor. They have a different process for ordering food. No table service here. You place your order by writing out a ticket at your table, paying up with the front and then they deliver the food to your table. The food is a step above regular diner fare with a lot of organic, vegan, and vegetarian options. With that, the price is higher than your typical greasy spoon. They have good coffee and also serve a good selection of wine and beer. Fun atmosphere. Good jukebox. Good times with friends have been had here. Try it out.

For starters the Ruben sandwich was not made with corned beef as a traditional Ruben sandwich would be. The potatoes tasted as if they had been cooked in old oil. I did however enjoy the blueberry pancake. It was as big as a plate and filled with delicious blueberries. The servers were very polite and the place has a interesting theme that tourist seem to enjoy. The food was mediocre at best for a first time visit. Not sure if I will visit again.

I don't know how you make tasteless bacon. Still trying to figure that out months later. It defies logic. It defies the universal laws of everything is better with bacon. They ruined bacon on a burger and charged outrageous prices for the disaster. It's simple if I can by pre made microwave bacon that is sorta good their bacon should be great. I'm leaving this review Jan 8th 2919 and have been bothered by this since Aug 2018. So be warned that you could be utterly baffled by a universal law being absolutely destroyed and crushed.

Brought an old friend here last night (5/9/19) when I came into town to visit and we were not disappointed with our experience! They have a very relaxed and casual atmosphere that is great for a date or having a get-together with friends. Instead of having a waitress come and take your order you fill out a little order slip at your table and then bring it to the register. After paying up front your order will be brought to your table by a friendly staff member. I had the Volcano Burger (which was absolutely amazing) while my friend had their pulled chicken sandwich (ALSO amazing), so I am going to highly recommend those dishes. But to be honest, EVERYTHING looked and sounded delicious! The food is a LITTLE pricey, but when people say "You get what you pay for" that definitely rings true here because we were NOT disappointed by anything about this place! Can't wait to go back!

They have gluten free toast which is not the best tasting. My hashbrowns were the best part but were bland. Egg scramble with Turkey and avocado was just as bland. I had a steamer, not sure if the syrup was to old or the soy was bad but it gave me an upset stomach.

Nice diner, very cool and casual. My potatoes were somewhat burnt but perhaps that's just the easy they do them here. The Ronald Palmer drink was perfect on a hot day.

Great food and great atmosphere. The waitress was extremely friendly and our breakfasts were great. I loved my eggs benedict. The holindase sauce tasted rich and flavorful. Hopefully I can return here someday.

Great milkshakes for both vegan, and milk drinkers. I love their vegan sausage, and all the sides options! I haven't been lucky enough to try their banana bread, but I've heard rave reviews! Wait staff is nice, and not unpleasant. Can't wait to go back.

Great place to pop in for brunch or lunch! The food is always so good and the ambiance is so relaxed. Even if you are just in the mood of a cup of coffee (or 4) Bad Waitress is an excellent choice.

Employees were fun. Beer special of 2 for 1 was fantastic. I enjoyed the Red louts latte which was extra nummy. For my main course I had vegetable nachos with cheese, beans and olives. Mine was served with salsa and sour cream. They advertised guacamole, but were dissapointly out of alvacodo. I will be back.

Great place for a lunch or dinner date. Outside seating is available, wide variety in terms of menu selection. Beer and hard cider's are served as well. The food is great for the price, and the staff are very friendly. Booth and bar seating is an option as well. Clean and relaxed environment. I highly recommend this place for a date, or if you're just looking for a bite to eat that isn't very expensive and isn't incredibly unhealthy.

Food is usually good, self serve. However, the last couple of times we have gone in when it is slow and the food has taken a long time. Today it was 30 minutes between ordering and getting our food when there were about 10 other people there, most of whom already had their orders. When it finally came the breakfast burrito wasn’t even hot enough to melt the cheese. I held out hope for the cookie, but the flavor was mostly plastic wrap.
