This Coffee Shop is classified in the category of Coffee shop.
Great coffee and cute atmosphere, but very full and difficult to find seating.
Always enjoy my visits to spyhouse. The hennepin location in particular is my favorite because the space is so perfect for anything from being in an open space with lots of people to more nook like spaces to chill and get work done. The latte art has always been on point, and the espresso is always tasty.
Coffee experts but expect to pay extra.. filled with wannabe hipsters that should move back to Woodbury and Eden prairie
It's a cozy place, but they are slow as hell. It took my mate and me 15 minutes to get a cortado and an iced tea last time. It was dead and 3 people were working. Gimme a break, your closing duties can wait.
Well made coffee and tea drinks. Pricing trends toward the higher side bc of location. I love to look at the art on the walls and people watch on Hennepin. Nice place to sit in the sun and sip slowly. Get a small so you can have a real mug not a paper cup.
Coffee is good, but the almond croissant was too sweet
Great coffee.
Handcrafted tea and coffee house. Good selection, great space. Also, I swear their coffee and tea is infused with extra caffeine.
One of my favorite local roasters featuring lighter roasted beans, which I prefer. Thoughtfully composed coffee menu, carefully prepared drinks, baristas that are knowledgable and sociable.
Great coffee - staff seemed pretty disinterested.. however, nice enough.
Nice coffee place that's open late. Fun flavors of you are into that, but no cinnamon :P
Loved it. Loved the hug i needed from the front barista.
Very good coffee and I recommend the caramello for beginners. I just wish they served the coffee a bit warmer.
Great coffee. Fantastic atmosphere.
Good coffee. Nice people. Lots of tables to work at
Incredible coffee! If like a really good cup and you’re within 5 miles, make the trek, it’s worth it!
Could be a nice place.... The barista tried to argue with me if ice would cool my lava americano to a drinkable temp faster than water. Just make the coffee the way I say to! And if you are there for work and need a receipt you can't get one unless you give them your contact information so they can spam you. I won't be going back.
Upscale place serving expensive coffee and a limited selection of pastries
Very good coffee. Great atmosphere & music.
Good stuff. Good coffee, then only thing was that they didn't have hazelnut and who doesn't have that as a standard in this day and age?
Good lattes, good donuts, mediocre batch brew. The coffee was rather small and expensive for refills. Rather pretty inside
When I first arrived, I ordered coffee and I looked around and I was nervous I wasn't going to find a place to sit. But! I found a place with an outlet. I stayed for a couple hours and got a lot of work done. There's plenty of seating even though it gets pretty crowded. I tried the spygirl latte. It was pricy, but their simpler coffees seems less expensive. I would definitely go back.
Wow! This is such a great place to hang out and have a nice little cup of coffee
Friendly, trendy, real coffee. Possibly the best cappuccino in the city, definitely the best in uptown.
Favorite coffee shop! Cool decor and great coffee. Gets busy, but there's a deceptive amount of seating.
Amazing atmosphere, amazing staff. It has a lot of nooks and crannies so you can find the perfect place to work, meet someone or just drink your coffee (which is really good.)
The latte was good and the staff was friendly
I always have a wonderful experiment at Spyhouse. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The atmosphere is very warm and inviting and the decor is a lovely mix of expertly curated vintage pieces and custom made modern furnishings. Christian is a genius. Long live Spyhouse!
Loved the industrial-chic atmosphere, friendly and fast baristas, and great coffee.
Great coffee and free wifi
Great.
I used to come here very often, a few times a week, but won’t anymore. Most of the staff has never been very friendly, some to the point of making you feel uncomfortable like you did something wrong. The most recent times I came the music was very loud that I couldn’t stay and work and stopped having meetings here. Lastly, over the past three years the prices keep going up, and Spyhouse is now the most expensive coffee shop around Uptown with a 16 oz speciality latte being $5.75, which doesn’t make me want to tip the usual extra $1 anymore and pay almost $7 for a drink. I think it hurts the employees the most. I will take my business elsewhere in Uptown, where there are plenty of nearby options.
The environment of this place is spot on but the coffee was horrendous. I spent $15 for two drinks and threw them both away. It tasted like spoiled milk mixed with dirt. Went to a run down coffee shop a few blocks down and got the same drinks for $6 and were delicious. I really wanted to enjoy this place because the reviews are wonderful and the environment is great..but can’t fathom spending $15 for drinks that I throw away...
Very satisfied with my experience at Spyhouse last week. My group came in on a Friday night 20 minutes before closing. We had just gotten ice cream down the street and a few of us were getting sleepy despite having a long night ahead of us. Spyhouse was practically the only coffee shop still open at 10:30 PM. I wanted a pour over, but it was close to closing so I settled for drip coffee. Nothing spectacular, but it was close to closing so that's understandable. What made my experience at Spyhouse memorable was the service. Very friendly staff and they even offered us free refills since they were closing down shop for the night! Another plus for Spyhouse is that it's spacious and cozy. Lots of chairs and tables for customers. Skip Caribou and Starbucks, and give Spyhouse a try!
Very rude staff. Mare us feel uncomfortable for taking our time while ordering. Afterwards, they did not let the kids eat the food we brought from home on a snowy day with temps in the 20s. Had to move the kids back in the car so they could finish their lunch. Very negative experience. There are plenty of other coffee houses around, avoid this one
The homemade carmel with a currant croissant!
Really good coffee and pastries
Just your average coffee shop nothing amazing. But nothing bad either.
Came here with my mom for her Birthday... The service was lousy, I felt like I was being an inconvenience spending money there... Only after they took the money and privided my drink did the tell me I had to add the cream myself... They didn't have cream... Only half and half which I cannot have on my diet... The pasteries were amazing... To bad the only reason to go there is for something they don't even make.
Great place! Lots of study spaces, big table towards the back is nice. People are generally nice enough to share the big table if the place is pretty full.
Great coffee shop chain with great coffee!
Cozy, woodsy, and beautiful! Great place to either study or meet with friends
Always good even late at night, not much parking...
Normally this place isn't that bad. Today I ordered a soy cappuccino- took them forever. When I finally got it there was a strong creamed corn flavor.
This place has lovely croissants and really good chai for dipping. The staff also seems friendly. The patrons that I met there were really kind and welcoming, so it is a good crowd open to random conversation. My biggest critique is they really need to get both of the bathrooms fixed earlier in the day they were not in any kind of working order for most of the late morning to afternoon and it is Highly disgusting.
Ammmaaaazing coffee and great work environment.
Great atmosphere but not the best drinks. Service is horribly slow, as well. Iced chai and hot chai are both mediocre for being “made in house”
Minnesota does local coffee pretty well - I'm not talking about Caribou, I'm referring to all of the other local coffee shops that have popped up in the various parts of downtown, uptown, St. Paul, etc. I stopped by the Uptown location on Saturday, which was the first 50 degree day we've had in months, so the city was alive. Not quite warm enough for an iced coffee, so I settled on the Spy Girl. I'm not sure if you've noticed, but lavender coffee has been all of the rage as of late. I don't know where it came from, but I can tell you why it's trending - it's delicious. It's not the best lavender latte that I've had, but it was still really good. I gave the place 4 stars only because there's a serious lack of seating when it's busy. The service was good. Not great, but good. I'll definitely be back again soon.
My favorite coffee in the Twin Cities, I cannot speak highly enough about this place, my first choice to meet with a friend or to pull out the laptop and pretend like I am busy. I also studied for the LSATs here. Always friendly staff and the Baristas are well trained. Can take a minute longer to get your latte made but when you take your first sip you will no why.
Best coffee house in mpls
Go for the Citizen Kane and grab a seat if you can. Very popular place! Friendly staff. Great coffee. The menu offers a variety of hot and cold drinks.
This place serves up innovative specialty coffees. We came here on a Wednesday night and it was buzzy but not crowded, with a couple of groups playing boardgames in the back. We ordered the cold buzz, which was really nice and refreshing for the hot, humid day -- touch of orange peel and not overly sweet.
Superb coffee almost every time I visit, this chain is one of the best in the cities, their master roaster definitely understands coffee!
Great coffee, yummy snacks. However, early in the morning the sun shines through the store with power! Beware, bring sunglasses!
Terrible staff at least when I went there. She took a wrong order. On confronting it, she behaved in a rude manner and threw the coffee in front of us.
Tasty coffee with a wide variety. Check out the specials and baked goods!
Friendly people. Good price but I didn't liked the taste. It's good if u are alone.
Below average coffee but cool spot.
I met a client here & I was not impressed. I was treated badly by the person taking my order (I think he did me a favor by taking my order & money) & when he handed me my drink it slopped around & spilled on me. There was no apology or attempt to clean it up, I realize I am not a millennial/hipster he is used to & it may seem like I am 100 years old, but I am still a customer. Thankfully there are thousands of other coffee shops to go to.
Great coffee and relaxed atmosphere. Some coffee shops make you feel guilty for sitting and getting some work done during the day, this place doesn't. Their baristas are really nice and helpful too.
Cold food and slow service the day I went. Won't try again.
Best in the cities. Great atmosphere wonderful people, and great coffee drinks.
Great coffee and extra items, seating is all meant though for parties of 4 or more but taken up by parties of 1 usually there for long periods of work. It would benefit them to design their seating like their sister store in Northeast. Parking is also confusing and limited (street only)
Great coffee and pastries!
They've got the fundamentals down pat. Their espresso is delicious. their rotating pour over and brewed coffee is listed at the register with clear tasting notes. They've partnered with a local bakery to get premium local baked goods. It's all amazing, and their specialty items on the menu aren't just twists on common drinks. You can get a flight of their current coffees plus a shot of espresso as one of their specials, while another, the hit and run, is a shot of espresso for there and then a 10oz coffee to go. Genuinely a superb coffee shop, and due to their location, my regular go to.
The drinks and setting and decorating and vibes & employees here are great!
Friendly service. Warm greeting. Jake is my favorite, but all of them are awesome.
I love their lattes, and the staff are always helpful!
Not a bad coffee house a little expensive but quality
Nice place to have a casual conversation, to introvert, and enjoy a decent caffeinated drink.
Hands down my favorite coffee in the twin cities. Pastries and service is nothing to brag about but the coffee is fantastic.
A little pricey, but nice baristas, nice decor, and nice music. Typically younger crowd. Well-sourced and house-roasted beans make for an interesting palate
Great place to just chill.
Was a good place to study in the evening. I like the bar seating, the countertop is huge and there aren't too many seats crammed at it so you have a large work space, and even when someone is sitting in the chair right next to you it doesn't intrude on your space/privacy. Not too loud, generally people were not talking. Lots of people there for quiet work or small meetings. Parking nearby- not sure where I would park during the day, but after 7/8pm, 15 min limit street parking spots end, so it was easy to find a spot on Hennepin
I love their cold brew and they make a great cortado.
Great coffee! Ambience and music are very nice.
Good selection of coffee. Seasonal drinks are quite original and delicious. The winter Paul Bunyan is especially cozy.
The Golden turmeric latte is awesome
Not at all impressed. Music so loud inside we opted to sit on Hennepin Ave so we could hear each other talk. Regular coffee was bitter. Bought a bag of Bold and Beautiful and and more accurate name would be Bland and Boring. At 27 bucks per pound, I will not be back.
Delicious, super smooth and flavorful light cup of coffee. Loved the friendliness and Jarom gave us very welcoming and informative service. Great place to be on Black Friday!!
Excellent service! Delicious coffee, and the atmosphere was top notch.
Delicious coffee and food. Had to get a bag of beans to take home with me
Awesome coffee, nice sized location. Not a quiet place, extremely busy, which is a testament to the quality! Makes it difficult to sit down and have a quiet conversation, but you cant always have both good coffee and peace and quiet!
I do enjoy spyhouse coffee, but the uptown location baristas are pretty rude. As a regular customer at the uptown spyhouse, I have always tipped them really well, but after a handful of bad experiences with rude baristas, I will be taking my business elsewhere. I’m sorry but arrogant baristas are so annoying, I mean, you’re a barista......
my favorite
Great local spot for coffee! Wish they would have more food options and often the donuts are sold out. Also can get a bit busy so be prepared to hunt for a table during high time.
Like the Spyhouse in Whittier, this coffee shop gets to be very busy. The coffee is expensive but tasty, and the baristas tend to be less uptight at this location than the Whittier one. It is fun to people watch or read here, and this shop has great location, right in the heart of uptown.
Quaint location. Great service. Delicious coffee and food.
Cool place to hang out and study. I would recommend the Jasmine Lemonade for a refreshing tea.
Superb Coffee and best staff I've ever deal with. Awesome Vibe and Relaxing Aura.
The cold brew is great on a hot day. But the price is kinda high. I study for my NCLEX here and spent $15 on 2 coffees and a muffin in one day. It's always busy here too, not exactly quiet so you won't fall asleep while you study.
Friendly and prompt. Unique atmosphere.
Lots of charcter. Popular, trendy. Tasty food. My only ding is that it was do full that it was a little loud and hard to carry on a long conversation.
Even though it's pricey I'll never stop going here! Delicious coffee and treats that both myself and the minion enjoy.
Eek. Got a iced vanilla latte and it was $6.50, which I can’t really justify. And I thought things were cheaper in the Midwest...
Everyone who works here is rad as heck and the music is pretty great. Baked good selection is great and tea/coffee is delicious. Plus, there are outlets EVERYWHERE.
It's like the baristas enjoy bullying people.
I enjoy this spot! Plenty of space to sit, though it’s very popular so it fills up, and a cool bar area where I like to work or read.
Visited Spyhouse for the first time and I loved it! The atmosphere and coffee are both fantastic
Funky uptown scene. Great coffee.
Don't let those negative reviews deter you. These guys know how to pull a shot and how to properly froth milk! Not something you find too often. The espresso is always deliciously buttery, creamy, and just a little bit tangy (in fact, I have yet to find a better tasting espresso) and the milk is beautifully textured. Most of the baristas are really nice or at least not unpleasant. Their pastries are pretty good. The atmosphere is cool. Their prices are right on par with most coffee shops I've been to. I've only had one bad customer service experience here and it was on a very busy Sunday from a very obviously frazzled girl. Overall, best latte this coffee snob has EVER had! Bonus: they're open til midnight 7 days a week!
Service was fast and friendly.
Love this café. Can be super busy but the teas are delicious.
Had the aces high, two single origin coffees and a single origin espresso. It is like a beer or whiskey flight but for coffee. Pretty amazing stuff. If I lived in Minneapolis this would be my main coffeeshop.
Spy house coffee is my go to twin cities coffee shop. I absolutely love it at there locations. This location has a beautiful hard wood interior and subway tile floor that just oozes character which I love. The people watching is great and the coffee is fantastic. Sometimes to many solo patrons taking up a larger table but that is more coffee shops in general and this one has a great ambiance so it stays busy.
Expensive, but always a great cup or coffee or tea. The pasteries are amazing!
Great place to hang out and study. No free refills on drip coffee but the refills are $2.
Smooth coffee. Hipster place.
Stupid loud music, can barely talk to someone sitting next to you. Won't be going back.
The attitude of the service staff was awful. Making you feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. Ruined the entire experience. Good coffee but that can be found elsewhere and be treated well at the same time.
Felt like the music playlist came from my own Spotify account. I loved the atmosphere and the Jasmine lemonade that I got was DELICIOUS!
I asked for cold press and got a talking to about how it's called cold brew. It wasn't on the menu so knows what it's called. The beans were severely burned. But hey, they very carefully placed antique cameras inside so it has to be good, right? Bleh. This is what happens when I don't go to Dunn Bros.
Spyhouse is such a great place to visit. Dont expect much for environment, however the service is exceptional.
Good wifi. Indoor and outdoor seating. Not a place that wants to rush you out.
Best tea I've ever had
Amazing place, but unpleasant and loud music. Hard to study!
Locally roasted coffee and great atmosphere! Friendly staff and delicious baked goods. Highly recommend the walnut banana bread.
Almost always busy here with a super hipster vibe. Coffee here is amazing.
A coffee shop with soul.
Coffee is alright. I am sort of a coffee snob and I know many people rave about Spyhouse's coffee, but it's really not that great--in my opinion. Much worse than the coffee, however, is the environment. Baristas are too cool for school and they have the worst clientele in town. It's for yuppies to go people watch and unironically caricature real hipsters (not to speak too highly of hipsters, but they're better than the phonies who go here!). The soul of Uptown--and Minneapolis, generally--has been dead for a long time; Spyhouse helped bury it long ago.
Unimpressed. Decor is basic. Had the spygirl which has lavender and honey. There is not a single hint of lavender nor honey.
Consistently good coffee and espresso. Atmosphere is a little too dark for me and it's usually crowded.
A maze of a coffee shop with several rooms and nooks to hang out in. It felt cozy and friendly, and it was my first time there. The coffee was pretty good. I also liked the small touches like Star Wars memorabilia hidden throughout the place.
Fun, quirky drinks but I stuck with the classic latte and it was perfection. Great service.
Great coffee. Cool ambiance.
Cute shop, very spacious, good service.
Excellent coffee. I recommend the spygirl or the horracha when they offer it. They have lots of non dairy options as well. The space is great for a study group, relaxing with a book, or a first date. It's very open but still cosy. The back room is great for working out of the house with large tables.
Avoid if possible. The espresso here is delicious. Where it falls short is in the service and atmosphere department. If you want quality coffee in addition to friendly baristas and a welcoming atmosphere, check out Dogwood, Misfit, or Caffetto. If you're looking for something convenient in the immediate vicinity, there is a Starbucks one block away.
One of my favorites.
Great drinks! I also love the modern/architectural feel of this place. It's nice to have a local place over always going a chain coffee shop. This is a great place to come for a meeting or to get some work done.
coffee's okay, I'd suggest going to the one on Nicollet though, nicer staff, better vibe
Very nice staff, nice quirky space with character. Nice people, and very easy to spot and get to.
Good high end coffee, limited seating.
Most delicious latte ever! Could use more snack/pastry options to go with the coffee.
Great coffee and pastries
Coffee and music were great!
I always end up here but really don't like the coffee... The staff is always very serious. Coffee is extremely overpriced. Awesome people hang out here, the layout is nice and the internet is reliable. Plus they have a patio, which makes for decent people watching.
Superb espresso, ample seating, bakery items are always fresh & baristas are always friendly!
Great coffee, supersedes all the local roasters. The baristas seemed to have gotten moodier than usually which equals = your service sucks and so does your latte. I hate going to this location and I wish these guys were happier and it doesn't appear their attitudes have changed... For late night coffee, we're going to be driving out of our way simply for better service. Sorry Spyhouse, love your coffee but not so much the guys at uptown.
Awesome place with friendly staff!
Used to barista and my espresso is always burnt, they don't know how to properly brew tea and I've had an employee role his eyes at me before I've even ordered. Not to be rude, but have they ever trained in these baristas? Does anyone know how to time a shot? I gotta avoid espresso drinks here.
Spyhouse is my absolute go-to when showing off to out-of-towners what a good Minneapolis coffee shop looks like. Great coffee, great vibes, I always like the staff. It's a little pricey for sure but I keep coming back.
Good coffee, a little pricy imo. But, the atmosphere is really good, free wifi... check them out.
Ok, so I've been going to this spyhouse regularly for the last year, and up until today, it's been my favorite coffee shop. Unfortunatly, after today I won't be going back. Today, like most, I walked into spyhouse with my kawolski's soup and ordered a jasmine lemonade tea, so far so good, but while I was getting my order the barista rudly/aggressivly told me I was not permitted to have outside food. Taken aback by his tone, I asked if this was a new policy and informed him I had been bringing in soup to this location for the last year and I have never been informed of the policy (Side note: I've seen other people bring in food from outside vendors before as well, so I know I'm not alone.) I told him that was fine, so I took my soup and tea outside and ate there. He then informed my friend that we were still not permitted to eat outside. At that point, we left. Listen, I don't have a problem with the policy, however, I have a problem when the policy isn't consistantly inforced, and that it's taken a year for someone to tell me I couldn't bring in food from an outside vendor. Sorry spyhouse, but I don't want to have bakery for dinner, maybe if you had some actual options for food I wouldn't have to bring my own. Bye.
Great. But $2 coffee refills, c'mon!?
There's a nice study vibe here once you get your own corner. Very good coffee and I recommend the caramello for beginners. It's all amazing, and their specialty items on the menu aren't just twists on common drinks. Great atmosphere over all.
Great location. Easy to bike to and has decent parking in the neighborhoods surrounding the coffee shop. Prices are okay, can be a little spendy but on average what you're going to spend around the area. I recommend getting the Miel, it's absolutely delicious and one of the best around. Lots of seating and plug-ins. Plays calm music throughout the shop and is typically small conversations happening. Plan to bring headphones if you need to focus. Bathrooms are always clean and so is the coffee shop.
Good coffee in a hip location.
I love this place so much. This one in particular. Abundant seating if you go in the way back past the bathrooms. Once you sit down, you're just ready to go with homework, meetings, and/or projects. There's a nice study vibe here once you get your own corner. Coffee served here is the best I have had so far in Minnesota. Beats Starbucks and Caribou, that's forsure!
Awesome atmosphere. Super chill place to recharge with a great coffee.
Do not go here to work!!! It sounds like you are in a rave (the music was blasting). I couldn’t even think. When I asked if they could turn it down, they refused. Food and coffee were good.
awesome place for a coffee and just hanging out
Always delicious and unique
Short staffed in the morning, not great for stopping on your way into work.
Spyhouse has some of the greatest coffee you’ll ever have the opportunity to enjoy.
Love this place!!! Glad I found this gem. TRUMP 2020!!!
I could be biased given I've heard a lot of hype previous to entering the space, but it's a really nice space. Very spacious, nice music, and clean. Honestly, the set up is really cool. I love that the single occupant bathrooms are gender neutral. The outlets are accessible no matter where you sit. My only issue is that the music is so loud. I figure it's because the acoustics make it so you can hear EVERYONE talk. But it kind of gives me a headache with how loud it is, although I commonly sit in the back room. You can certainly adjust the spaces acoustics instead of increase the volume of the music.
Tried their Solid Gold drink. The ginger and oat milk latte had a strange but satisfying taste. Great atmosphere over all.
