REVIEWS OF Ginkgo Coffeehouse IN Minnesota

A great place to go to if you want to just chill for a bit and have great coffee along with it. Special thanks to barista Maddie, she was just so nice! Thank you!

Lawrence Romanowicz

Robert Berres

Lobe the nick nacks

Hertzey Hertz

Nice, quiet, and friendly. Good drinks and good food.

Alexandra Love

A wonderful little place, that is open inside and laid back. They have a great variety of food and drinks to choose from, even ice cream!

Paul Swenson

The coffee house had chairs, tables, food, drinks, music, plants, free reading material, things to buy, coughie, bells, whistles, people that work there, a floor, lots of butts, garbage cans, paintings, a tin roof (not rusty), a large pole, postcards, rugs, couches, doors, windows, and no methamphetamine.

joey walker

It's a nice small coffee shop. Great place to go read

sxull askew

Great place for coffee and local open mic folks.

Sean Jones

I love the fact its NICE here.. AWSOME price$......best spot...

Zachary Smith

Cute. Good tea

Brian Vest

100+ year old building with creaking floors and lots of charm. Awesome barista's. Fantastic food and coffee with off street parking in back.

Bill Ventura

The Ginko, named after a smelly neighborhood tree, is everything you would expect from a local coffee shop. Spacious, non-profit looking storefront with a stream of interesting patrons, amazing dark roast, and they were unappologeticlly out of all bakery. Food isn't their strong suit as far as I can tell, but a classiclly comfy place to be who are serving serious tea, and coffee.

Robot M SEXY

Good coffee fast service

Les Stern

Down home

Lisa Schultz

Cozy old structure near bus line.

Joseph A. Amara

A great little place to grab coffee and relax.

Rick Wilder

Great coffee, good food, friendly accommodating staff; I couldn't ask for anything more from a coffee shop!

Austin Baylor

I've been coming here for years on and off, and it's always been my first choice when I want to go out for coffee. The atmosphere is amazing, and their prices are some of the best, with a very friendly and attentive staff. They're coffee and backed goods are amazing. Especially for their price. No matter where I am, I'm always willing to make the hike over to Ginkgo's.

Benjamin Beltrame

Good coffee, friendly staff, reasonable prices. Nothing out of the ordinary but if you want to grab a coffee somewhere new and aren't looking to be served by a professional mixologist who feeds strictly on non GMO, farm raised, cage free, gluten free, fair trade wheatgrass and coffee beans, that will condescend you for asking for "a cup off coffee" and charge you an arm and a leg for it...stop by Gingko.

Arasu S

Nice cafe. Very relaxed, laid back atmosphere. Great coffee options, pastries. Interesting and fun toys in the corner. Great place to just chill out our work on your laptop.

Christopher DeMeules

It's a quaint hip inner City coffee shop, they sometimes have live music, and they sell ice cream cones! I asked the hostess and the owner named it do go 25 years ago as far as you could remember! Lol

Leah McDowell

Chill atmosphere to hang out. Drinks are very good. Summer patio is nice.

naveen halli

Nice coffee place. With plenty of options. They have great selection of food too! Really nice ambience with very friendly staff. When I visited there was no live music though. I might have missed it

Lorri Burchett

Locally owned great place! It has live music and it's of great treats!

Josh Jaskulka

Hip and fun cafe. Good coffee. Good lunch options. Food is a little expensive, service a little slow.

kirbykid16

Very cute little shop! Glad we found it on our road trip stop

JaDa Lo

First time here, just ordered small Thai coffee. Literally the BEST coffee I’ve had in ages! Thank you.

Gigi Yau

Good as usual. I come here often.

Catherine niehaus

Great little coffee spot. Had a dirty chai which was yummerful! Also nice selection of breakfast Sammie's, fresh and clean. Definitely would go back again!

T. Peterson

By far the best Americano I've ever had. Lovely neighborhood folks were stopping in while I was enjoying my java, very friendly staff as well.

Bonnie Sheehan

Spectacular~ Great iced chai tea Quaint yet place for kiddos Yummies for the tummy as well.. Will be back for certain

Hussein Ahmed

Love their Ginkgo Griller. Coffees and Lattes are average. A homely place to do reading and some work. Staff is friendly, but they need to turn the AC on on hot and humid days. Quite uncomfortable to stay there during warmer Summer days.

Tedros Abraha

Classic coffee shop with variety of coffee , tea and food too. Live music on some days. Popular with different kinds of people from all walks of life.

Addy Free

Perfectly okay. :)

Nachia Yang

One of my favorite spots. Definitely a gem. Love their Chai Banana Smoothie! I always get that. They could definitely clean up their game area though. Otherwise, it's great!

Gutem Dube

Very nice and welcoming place. They have mostly respectful and professional baristas.

Lara Willard

Best Chai I've had in the cities! Prices were good, the all-day breakfast was delicious (I had a frittata). Only knocking down a star because the baristas seemed bothered by the customers, chatting in the kitchen and dragging their feet to the counter to take an order. I'll still be going again, though!

Eri Isomura

Calm, cozy, tasty. great service.

Traci Webb

I love coffee shops that feel used.

Joseph-Francis

Good coffee and teas. Food menu but I don't partake so I can't say much about it. Sometimes there's a group of kids there in the evenings that are pretty loud complaining about how Trump is ruining their lives and that their parents don't give them enough allowance. Otherwise it's a nice place to relax.

Sheila D Gunderson

Go for great beverages and the CONCERT series!!

Rowan Forrester

Off the beaten path. Casual and a great place to hang out, no pressure to vacate your table. Coffee is pretty good, but you'll probably have to wait quite a while if you want cream in your coffee because they aren't quick to restock the condiment bar. I went there quite a few times over the down if about a month, and I think I was only able to get cream out of the carafe twice on first try - and one of those two times, there wasn't enough left for me to put cream in the second coffee I bought for my date, so still had to wait. Meanwhile, coffee gets cold pretty quickly while you're standing there with the lid off waiting around. So yeah, if they fix that little problem, it's a cool little spot to hang out.

Night Phone

Had bad tasting mocha, machine needs cleaning

Niff Creature

favorite place in the area! love their depth charge (or as they call it, 'sabertooth') I've met some cool people here, great atmosphere, cookies are amazing. I like the food when I get it, but I haven't tried much of it. I would really like to see more baked goods, muffins etc like Dunn bros

Cassie McEwen

Lovely neighborhood place to get coffee and relax

Tom Smith-Myott

A welcoming old style coffee house.

Emilio Alvarez

Homey cafe, with a great menu selection. Be prepared to wait a while on slow days

Mic

i try someting new every trip I make to Ginko. Love it

Peter Lamm

Artsy hip trendy environmentally forward Cafe serving mainly the neighborhood, friends (live music some weekends) and the college crowd from nearby Hamline University. Two major bus routes cross by the front door so it's also ultra convenient. Coffee and food here is middling but you won't mind too much as you soak in the environment and your unusual company while surfing or working happily on free wifi Long long ago, remember coming here one morning to relax with coffee and noticing a small group of friendly young people at a nearby table discussing politics. Hearing a certain name repeated again and again, I guessed correctly they were volunteers helping to organize the presidential run of a certain young senator from Illinois named Barack Obama. I wished them luck as we left, but I never dreamed they'd be so wildly successful

Frank Sharp

The best coffeehouse in the area!

alex aqel

Great taste

Carla J Magnuson

Fun place. Good food & atmosphere.

Katerina Wong

Wifi was a bit sketch - it didn't work all the time, and the tables weren't stable. But otherwise the food and coffee were excellent and the space was pretty open and good for studying

Trevor Johnson

Can't recommend the chocolate chip banana muffin highly enough. Great coffee as well.

Dasha Nicole

They offer basic coffee and local music performances .

Foxy K

The greatest lesbian coffee shop around. It's got this weird, cute, eclectic vibe. Service is friendly, coffee and food are delicious, and all the coffee comes from Duluth!

Tania Dolphy

Overall, I always like what I've ordered. However, most times when I order a Latte, it's only warm, and I have to send it back to reheat. Otherwise, I would definitely recommend Ginkgos to anyone.

T Nara

Comfortable. Good Coffee. Board Games and books you can use if you want.

Zack Paul

Cute place, good sandwiches, apparently they do live music.

Anne Soto

great service, good atmosphere

Bex Krak

I love this place. And their scones!

Matt Simonsen

Good affordable vegetarian & other fare. And of course coffee! Relaxed, informal atmosphere.

Chris Vandevelde

Had a purple cow. Deelish.

Collin S

Good coffee, hipstery and art vibes. If you're looking for a trendy place to read or chat this is the place for you

Shannon Fahey

I saw one coffee house

Sarah Stankus

This place is great--good coffee, cheap day-old pastries in the morning... but MAN does their music taste suck! Let the record show that a Celine Dion Pandora station is NOT good coffeehouse music. Something a little more varied and not so foreground would be great... people don't go to coffee shops to be distracted by music and reenact Titanic.

Chris

I LOVE THIS PLACE. When I was there most recently, there was a woman training what appeared to be five young trainees. The way she multitasked and very calmly coached the trainee cashier through complex transactions while coaching the other trainees on coffee equipment was astonishingly impressive. The fact that they are hiring young people and serving a very high-quality cup of coffee along with offering a space accommodating both kids and adults ensures that I will be a lifelong customer.

Nicole Brown

Everybody meets at Ginkgo's. Accomodating, comfortable, great lighting and art, and I go for a basic cup of coffee. I have been going to this coffeehouse since they opened. Whether alone or with a group this is an easy choice.

Robert Muldoon

Inviting neighborhood feel which appeals to the Hamline University students and staff, along with the locals. Friendly service, charming interior!

Shahbaz Shah

I have been going to Ginkgo since I moved back here in 2008. What a great coffee house. You know you're in the right place when you see the owner fixing a coffee grinder at a satellite location. #Dedication #Passion #Coffee

Grace Kelly

Great coffee, food and service for a reasonable price.. Includes GF food. Comfortable without pretention. Kid friendly.

Carol Bisson

Great place to enjoy a good cup of coffee and hang with friends.

Adam Henke

Idyllic shop in St Paul. Good food, good coffee, great chill atmosphere. Great place to get a little work done or catch up with friends. I've also caught some great music there.

Tam Ngo

Great place to have coffee, breakfast, lunch n chat

Orrin Dabney

Coffee isn't bad, although the consistency can be a wide margin. The food here is worth the visit though. People are nice, and never too loud.

Nagee Yang

LOVE THEIR CHAI BANANA SMOOTHIE

Riley Molitor

Neighborhood coffee shop with wonderful employees, regular, and coffee. Menu is good and its one of the best shops to stop in. I love how they have free water all summer, thank you for hydrating me on walks! They are truly a neighborhood staple!

Steve Gjerdingen

Friendly baristas, good coffee, a nearly complete breakfast/lunch menu, and plenty of old world charm make this stand out as one of St Paul's best coffee shops. This is also one of the few coffee shops that's open so late in the area. I'm surprised this place isn't super busy all the time given everything that it has going for it.

Alicia Renée

Sat with a friend and caught up for hours. Not to loud, super kind staff and a comfy, casual atmosphere. Will definitely return. Lovely medium roast, too. And hot damn I am so grateful they offer ripe fruit/bananas - if anyone who works there ever happens to read this THANK YOU!!! It's nice to have a legit healthy option.

Preston Stone

The staff is incredibly friendly. This cafe, like many in the area, serve lattes in a tall glass mug, which kills the foam and presentation. It would be simple to make the experience better. I'm not sure why it's a trend in the area. It's wrong. You're better than that Minneapolis. Anyway... The actual downside of this cafe is the aroma. It smells very strongly like moth balls. It was cozy and a good hangout location though. I'd love this place if they made a better latte and got rid of the smell.

Jonathan Johnson

Tight roping the line between having character and seeming dirty. The coffee speaks for itself which makes this place worth a try.

Neal Dimick

The Ginkgo is a music venue that is comfortable for patrons and performers. It has an Open Stage, twice each month, on the first and third Wednesday of the month. Sign up starts at 6:30 and music at 7.

Jeanne Long

Lovely breakfast sandwich, hot and delicious coffee, cozy atmosphere!

Laurie J

Best coffee in the neighborhood, baked goods are pretty decent but could improve made to order food.

Doug Dill

Ginkgo is not Starbucks, thank God. I like this unique coffee shop, with it's creaky floors, great coffee, live music at times and good food.

James Hewitt

Amazing community coffee shop..complete with sandwiches and smoothies

Jenna Kurzeka

Nice neighborhood joint!

Sarah Arnold

They have such a variety of coffee and food options. Everything is delicious, especially the soup! I love walking here kn my lunch break and grabbing some lunch.

Raul Muniz

I got a hot chocolate and did not taste good they do way better then that its a great thing I'll never go go back because i can get better hot chocolate then that

Bob Cudahy

Great sandwiches and coffee.

Rowan Miller

items. Tea selection.

Patrick Finucane

Have a blue berry banna smoothly on a hot day

bernadette england

Great coffee and ice cream. Decent prices.

Nicole Halberg

Great food coffee and service

Kevin Yang

A little small but a popular joint.

Marybeth Luing

July 2018: Today's stop was perfectly wonderful from start to end. Many others have also been an excellent experience. I'm glad the 1-time ailing barista incident has not been a repeat event when I stop in. Feb 2018: Usually a nice stop, but my sandwich and tea were prepared and served by a very ill barista, who said she was much better than a few days ago. I left hoping I wouldn't come down with a mean cold.

LaFaun Johnson

Cozy place

Scott Realty

Always good coffee.

Morgan Hardcastle

Black coffee refills are cheap, making it a great spot to study. The fancy coffees are all pretty good too. The pastries and cookies are all good, and the banana bread (when available) is rocking. Their actual food menu is pretty basic, with the healthy eating influence. Rendering most dishes pretty bland and uninteresting. The portions are tragically small for the price. I like the place, but it desperately needs to be remodeled.

Gerardo Rodriguez-Orellana

Good coffee with a nice vibe. When I went there was a book reading going and it was very interesting. The baristas are incredibly friendly.

Michael Gauer

Very nice cozy spot

Shaun Blum

My favorite local coffee shop in the cities.

Tim Maybee

This is my favorite coffee in St. Paul. But even better than the coffee and food is the staff. They do such an incredible job of creating community.

Kevin Lamminen

Tried and true atmosphere. A place for a coffee date, a play date, or just to sit and enjoy your surroundings - this is a definite must. I enjoyed a muffin and tea and a great sandwich all for around $11. That was a bargain and I will be back.

Meg Petrich

I hadn't been here in years, but it's still a great spot! Good coffee and food and the atmosphere is relaxed and comfortable.

Jason Robinson

Comfortable seating, good coffee, and a selection of food go along with the vibe to make this feel like every other great coffee joint I've ever been to. I feel at home every time I walk in.

Jo Baecker

Comfortably hip and homey. The owner is often on site and it's evident that she cares deeply about the place. A very eclectic mix of customers makes you feel like you're in a larger, more cosmopolitan metro area.

DARA. A.

Was looking for a Nigerian restaurant. Addresses not accurate. Business not open week days and no response from contact. Oh well. Taking my biz elsewhere...

Andrew Sean

Gingko is a staple coffee shop in the Midway area, a tried and true local haunt to grab a drink, sit down with a laptop or good book, and be a part of the experience. The drinks are of good quality and reasonably priced. Staff are friendly and polite. The location is central to both cities, accessible with a dedicated lot, and very warm and welcoming.

bill kampen

It is great coffee.

Laura S.

Great place for flavorful coffee, local bakery and art, and delicious soups and sandwiches.

Jaklyn McElveen

Comfy little coffee shop that also serves a bite of food. Also has an open Mic night or did and supports the community. Also right by hamline college.

Josh LS

Very laid back. Wonderful place, good coffee, good food, atmosphere is amazing. Feels very neighborly. Probably not the cleanest cafe in the world, but that does not bother me in the slightest. Their kitchen looked very clean, and that's where it really matters anyway. They have free wifi and a piano that's open to the public. None of the chairs or tables match. Love it.

Amy Fauble

Wonderful little neighborhood cafe.

Ryan Menning

An enjoyable place for a range of people!

Wallace Schneider

Terribly uncaring staff, but the coffee and tea is good, they have awesome parties and ice cream(yeah, ice cream. Ain't that awesome?). Good amount of seating. If it wasn't for the crew is give it five stars, I have been there a bunch of times and they're always giving me the impression they just don't like people- I know I'm not a bad patron so it can't be personal. And they have a book exchange there,

Eric Olson

Great Coffee

David Campbell

My favorite late night study spot. I'm not always the best at studying at home, and that place has helped me do well in a few classes. The workers there are friendly, and I have always felt welcome.

Bat Weasel

Beside the squeaky floors. Nothing is wrong. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Rachel Kampling

The coffee or food left a bit to be desired.

Lawnicure Llc

Won tickets to saints game and bought some ice cream for 1.50 a piece

Edward Andrada

Good local coffee shop

Jackie LaVaque

Funky little coffeehouse with sandwiches and desserts too. They have a wall of wacky toys for adult kids. Music (not sure when though) and the coffee is really good too.

Erin Mihm

As much as I'd love to love Ginko on Snelling I just don't. I keep giving it one more try but after the snarky college kid behind the counter couldn't be bothered to help my father, who's vision and hearing is waning, by simply answering his question of what style roasts do you have and instead pointed to a white board...I'm done. Read your customers before making assumptions and if you're going to be in the frontline of customers-at least act like you care. Also seeing staff holding up the counters while on their phones when people are waiting...there's a lack of care all the way around. I'd love for it to get a make over bc the location and off street parking are great!

Patrick Sheehy

Has been our favorite since we first moved to Saint Paul in 1996.

Cheryl Holcomb

Ginkgo coffee provides gourmet flavored coffees to go.

Oxford Llama

They discouraged me from coming in, so I wont

Miguel Fernandes

Good coffee and ok munchies, like sandwiches and a cup of soup. A place students work while having a coffee.

Les DeCoteau

Excellent!

Danielle VanDeWeghe

Great coffee. WiFi sometimes goes down.

Lee Schnepf

Great atmosphere, good coffee drinks, helpful staff. Any time I've had the baked goods they've been tasty. But mostly I'll get coffee and hang out smoking in the outdoor seating area.

Shelly Payne

We had only a latte and pastry so I don't have a full review of all the offerings but a few observations: The staff was friendly and they know and love their regulars/neighbors. It's a relaxed atmosphere. Pastries were great and there was enough variety to satisfy. They also serve breakfast sandwiches and other fare. Good coffee. Reasonable prices. Parking is easy enough. They have occasional live music.

Joaquin Munoz

Great space, lots of tables, and some great comfy booths in the back too. Lots of coffee and drink options, and great food options as well. Neat cards and novelty gifts for sale as well, and a fun kids corner! Come check it out!

Ryan Seidel

great space. good location and awesome staff

Laurie Jensen

Cozy, worn, neighborhood coffee shop. Great selection of teas. Good coffee, too. Sandwiches, etc., available.

Jacob Poppe

Clean place, friendly staff, excellent apple fritters and very good mocha

Brian Lindell

Well priced.

Ellie Mulvaney

I've been coming here for 12 years, and have never had a bad experience. The staff are amazing, the food is great, and the prices are reaonable. Plus they've never messed up my order. I love this place!

Charles Woods

Average coffee place is a little dirty behind the counter goOd gingersnap cookie

Jack T. Ryan

Such a nice change from a Starbucks, DBC, Caribou, or similar. Eclectic is right. Plus it is located in a place by itself, not in another business center. I'll be back.

Kiersten Krause

Quaint, well-priced, and a short walk from my campus. I ordered a large white mocha and grilled cheese with provolone and cheddar. It may have a shabby appearance but I will definitely be back with friends.

Putz

Great coffee. Friendly staff. I prefer to go to a small business if possible versus the big chain.

Tristan Utech

I discovered this place when they were having a local artists bazaar and I was in love. I visit frequently, amazing coffee, amazing service. Just amazing.

Chris Iverson

Love the breakfast sandwich - please keep making your everything bagel! Coffee is great here too.

Greta Hammelman

The Rooibos latte was a perfect 10

Danya Knight

Very nice vibe!

Victoria Beckmann

Good Coffee. Great service! If you really need a kick in the pants, a BIG sabertooth with only as much cream as you need. But if you're feeling fancy they have so many flavor syrups to choose from!

Raina Fox

I love this collegy coffee spot, but I don't like that they use plastic cups as a default. I asked for my coffee in a mug to stay and the server was great about it, but he said they only do this when people go out of the way to ask (even if people plan to stay at the cafe). I also encourage a discount for bringing your own to go cup.

Erik Johnson

Usually the espresso is made well, but every now and then you'll get a rather sub-par pull, depending on who's working the espresso machine. The food is always delicious. The interior is a lot of fun. The church pew is awesome. The floor board, though, are infuriatingly noisy. Overall, it's a great place to go!

Christian Tozzo

Lovely neighborhood spot with a charming atmosphere, prices and serving sizes are good, there is always a new soup of the day. This place has some of the best banana bread I've ever eaten, a great no frills grilled cheese and in my opinion the best chai tea latte in St Paul.

Rob Liebhart

Tasty drink plus friendly service. Fun crowd in an eclectic environment.

Chris Harrington

Really affordable coffee! Very nice space. Not a lot of seating though.

Ricardo McCurley

Nice local spot

Tami Cabrera

I love this cafe for so many reasons! Kathy, the owner, is one of my favorite humans! Live music, great menu, really really good fair trade coffee, AND the best in the universe cheesecake by Muddy Paws Cheesecake [by the slice or whole]! Support local, support women owned, support small business!

Rebecca Miniscalco

Met my wife here, need I say more? Coffee and service is great! I love this local spot

Jay Colond

Good selection of tea and great, authentic community atmosphere. Can be a little hard to find a seat, but in summer the back patio is a quiet and clean option. Mom says, 'try the red miel, it's not too sweet!'
