Wonderful, fresh, locally sourced food. Yum.
Stop whenever we get the chance. Love this place.
VERY slow service!!
We'll go back to test some of the sandwiches out
Very unpleased with the level of service. Came in and was not greeted. Sat down and eventually a waitress came by. It was apparent she was the only one on staff. There was a lady who i overheard help a couple of others. She was "not working but trying to help out". The waitress took about twenty minutes for us to finally get our beverages: an orange juice and coffee miel. She came back amd said i appologize but it took me awhile to find time to make the coffee. Why have something on the menu if your staff doesnt have time to make it. 45 minutes later and ready for our food. Our waitress came to the table and asked me what kind of meat i would like. Thankfully i did not want meat or i fear it would have been over an hour to get our food. The food when it finally arrived was mediocre at best. Unfortunately we stopped here while on the rpad and had no choice but to wait it out. Prices are not worth the wait, rude staff or patience
small town cafe - good food freindly staff - amazingly high ceilings - must have been built for alternate use originally
Expect a long wait to get your food. Quality good, wait is obscene. 60 min for eggs, salad, soup...
Fabulous Organic Cafe
Overpriced I had higher expectations
THE WORST dining experience either me or my companion have ever experienced. From the spartan menu to the wait time to receive our food to the inferior food items to the ASTRONOMICAL prices it was aweful. We wondered why there were no cars in the parking lot & no customers in the cafe when we arrived shortly after 8 on a Sunday morning. We now know why. We sat down. The waitress came promptly. We asked for water with lemon. She said they did not have lemons. We were told that they were out of regular sausage. We thought it strange no pancakes, waffles or french toast were on the menu. I ordered the $5.99 breakfast special - 2 duck eggs, 1 sausage patty spicy, 1 pc toast. My companion ordered 2 eggs, 2 bacon, 1 toast $8.99. Side order hash browns at $4.00 & 50 cents up charge each for cheese + onions. My companion ordered OJ. I asked about french toast. She said it could be "special ordered" if the cook would make it - were told she would. I was asked if as part of my special I wanted to sub the french toast - and did I want 2 pieces - I said sure; my companion said sure, he would like his to be french toast too. At NO time was there any mention of any up charge for the french toast nor the price of ONE extra piece of bread. No mention. After about 25 minutes we got our food - even tho' we were the only people in the cafe. Hash browns - tiny portion, so overcooked they looked like a flat brown shingle - hard and tasting like a burned potato chip. We sent them back. Re-cook great. Eggs cooked perfectly - wonderful. Bacon was fine. The spicy sausage portion was rather small but tasted ok. French toast was ok too. Not great - not bad. Tasted fine. We had to ask for butter and syrup. My companion paid for the meal. Only when we were well on the road to Brainerd did he mention his shock. Breakfast cost FORTY-ONE dollars - Yes, that's right, $41.00. 4 eggs, 3 pieces of bread, 1 small sausage patty, 2 bacon and small ration of hashbrowns + small juice. I was totally in shock. That simply could not be - obviously there was a mistake - we must have received someone else's tab - a party of 5 who had come in after us. The $5.99 special, the $8.99 breakfast, $5 for hashbrowns with add ons & whatever juice cost - let's say $3 - equals $23 plus tax equals less than $25. Couldn't be. No way. I said we'll stop on the way back in a couple hours & get the refund. Then came the real SHOCKER. The waitress said the $41 breakfast for two WAS right. Cost of french toast was SIX DOLLARS each - yes $6.00 apiece - for each single piece. The math was take $1.00 off each order for the toast not ordered, then add SIX dollars for ONE piece of bread made into french toast. Insane. Just insane. The cafe can charge what they want for a piece of bread. It IS NOT fine when a customer is not told. NO ONE, would pay $18.00 for a 3 pc order of french toast - the idea is just ridiculous. I was stonewalled. Told that was the price. The worst insult was she told me she had stated the up charge. Who in their right mind would agree to something so insane? $5.99 the special but $10.99 if you sub a piece of bread for french toast & $16.99 for 2 pieces of bread? 2 eggs, 1 sausage ,2 pieces of french toast for $16.99??? Waitress said nothing can be done & dismissed me - left saying she had other customers to wait on. I asked to speak to the owner/manager - the cook was it!! Said she could get to me in 15 min. having waited over 10 min. already. I said no. The irate owner came over, demanded what I wanted done. I said a refund - fair & reasonable but I would accept $10.00. She pulled $10 out of the till, gave to me - walked away. No apology for waitress mistake. No thank you. Shameful treatment. Clearly we will not be back. It would be a surprise if we would be able to come back at all, based on this experience if this is typical. On a positive note, I also bought a piece of the raspberry pie with crumb topping. While pricey too ($4.60 plus tax) and a rather small piece, it was delicious.
Great food and staff!
Delicious spicy sausage egg sandwich and cappuccino! Friendly, attentive staff too!
Delicious locally sourced food! Everything was so flavorful. Barb was very friendly and helpful.
This place is amazing! Wonderful, creative menu items and locally grown produce for sale.
Stopped for coffee.
Based on other reviews expected pricey, but also expected great food. My husband and I ordered the hashbrowns with cheese and onions so each plate of hashbrowns was more than $5, for a burnt blackened plate of potato bits. The hashbrowns should not have been served they were so black and overdone, and took much longer than we were told. I cannot imagine another restaurant ever serving hashbrowns so burnt. Breakfast for three people and the total bill over 40 dollars. Will not return and would not recommend. Worst hashbrowns I've had in my life.... what little I could eat of them.... should have taken a picture to post too
Great food, fabulous service!!
The pie was fabulous!!!!!! The service was excellent!!!!
Easy on-off from the freeway, ample parking and delicious locally sourced meals with vegetarian options. Save room for pie a la mode.
If you are expecting "franchise food", you will be disappointed. If you are looking for high quality "home made" food like grandma would prepare for you, with love, in her own kitchen,.... you are in the right place. Be patient and enjoy....
Nice service great food. There was a wait but it was worth it.Would come again.
The food, ambiance and service is top notch
So slow and forever taking.
Food was phenomenal! Good people who are very friendly and willing to assist with anything you need.
Good alternative to the fast food when headed up north.
Had the best veggie burger of my life - loved the sunflower seeds! I wish I had a place like this where I lived with farm to table fresh ingredients. I also got a zuchinni chocolate chip cashew muffin that was a little dry but was still a nice detour from the usual.
Good to taste food the way it used to taste excellent
Great food
Amazing food excellent service kinda slow but WORTH the wait
Meh, rather check out Cedarwood or Happy's
Great lunch.
Farm to table restaurant. It was so obvious that they cared about food, everything was delicious. And the prices were reasonable. I will definitely go back when in Onamia!!
Awesome, the only place I have found around Mille Lacs Lake with good locally sourced food. Super friendly staff. Definitely going to make it my regular stop around the lake.
We just finished having a delicious breakfast at this quaint little cafe. The ingredients were so fresh it reminded me of my childhood growing up on our farm!!! The 7 grain bread was amazing. I would highly recommend it
Yummy food
We loved eating at Farm Market Cafe! Barb, one of the owners, was a lovely hostess and Cassie cooked up our incredible meals! The prices were awesome for being farm fresh and organic and the food was SO GOOD!! We didn’t know what to expect but had an amazing experience.
The food was pretty good but expensive
Hash browns are great, bacon not so much.
Unique. Good food. Healthy stop
In the area and want good, fresh, local produced food? Go here. Loved it.
Awesome place to stop and grab a bite to eat. Food was reasonably priced and really good!
Fast Great service and tasty wholesome food.
Just stopped in for some coffee. We were impressed with their setup with fresh grown foods!
Been going here for three straight years on our way to the cabin. Absolutely great food and friendly service.
Great, farm fresh food
Food was mediocre at best. Kids had chicken noodle soup no seasoning veggies just over done noodles and chicken. Hamburger was small and not a lot of flavor as well. Burger bun and bread that came with the soup was best part of the meal. Getting Happy’s for the kids now since they’re still hungry.
Very good food. Friendly staff. Definitely fresh.
Loved this place! Great local food and I love the connection to the farms. They even sell produce and meat that's way better than the store.
Not a vegetarian by any means! When you stop here, you have to try the vegi burger made with wild rice and other organic ingredients! It really hit the spot! The owner and waitress were extremely friendly and loved the atmosphere! I loved it so much I loaded a 360 view of the restaurant on Google maps!
Friendly and food is great!
Rather expensive for a mediocre Burger. Will not be returning
The food was delicious. The service was great. Very friendly. Homemade chocolate raspberry icecream was the best.
Delicious breakfast. Try the hallelujah bread / toast and eggs. Would definitely stop here again.
Cold eggs, no bread available 2 toast
Friendly and fast service...the breakfest wrap with sausage was delicious...A wonderful locally farmed food stop!
Heard the pie was good here. Stopped in to get a piece to go. $4.60 for a small piece of walnut pie (only option). Was told it was like pecan pie. It was AWFUL. No taste, mealy and burnt on top. Needless to say after a few bites it went in the garbage.
Natural organic foods...homemade bread!
Fantastic organic locally grown, and made from scratch food options.
Took 45 minutes to get 2 grilled cheese sandwiches, one plate of eggs sausage and toast with hash browns, and then another 10 minutes from there to get an egg salad sandwich on gluten free bread with a cup of soup. Brought out the wrong soup and the gluten free bread fell apart and I was unable to eat it . Just a clump of mush. Six tables with at least four servers. So disappointed. Will definitely not be coming back here.
Whenever we are going by on the ATV Trail we try to stop at the Farm Market Cafe. I love this little home town gem. The food and service is very good. There is always an opportunity to try something new.
We got here at 9:45. It's 10:45 and still no food. Coffee is empty. Suggestion....maybe have more than one employee working. She did all of the waitressing, cooking, serving and helping walk in customers. Our food is sitting up in the cupboard and instead of bringing it to us warm she is collecting money from four guys that have eaten and are leaving. Very pokey and won't be coming here again!
Food was ok prices too high for low quality x
Great food and super friendly service! P.S. The hash browns are absolutely amazing.
The kids mac and cheese was GROSS. Food all around was not very flavorful. Over priced. Service was slow. And the music was way too loud, couldn't conversate Will not be returning..
Excellent small restaurant for casual breakfast and lunch dining. The restaurant features whole, natural locally grown ingredients.
Juicy delicious burger! Homemade pie, yum!
We didn't get our water until after we ordered our food, about 10 minutes after arriving. The eggs, bacon, and toast we ordered came stone cold. They offered to microwave it, so they did that and brought it back. It was still cold so we asked if it could be remade. Then we heard yelling from the kitchen about how she doesn't have time to remake it and they brought it back to our table, microwaved a second time. The oatmeal we ordered arrived about 10 minutes after the rest of the food. It was bland and watery and seemed like it was from a Quaker Oats pack put in the microwave- definitely not worth $6.50. The lunch food- a chicken wrap was alright. Overall, a $40 bill for cold eggs and bacon, cheap oatmeal, and a wrap was ridiculous. Will never be returning.
Fantastic sandwiches, burgers with grass fed beef, pie, lemonade and homemade iced tea. Friendly service!
Farm Market Cafe served fresh food sourced from local farms. The bread was just like homemade. There is a gift shop attached to the cafe. The high ceilings, brightly painted walls, and some of the decor didn't seem to fit the cafe's style. Staff was welcoming and friendly.
Fresh food! Friendly... Good experience.
I used to work at a business within the building and stopped here for lunch occasionally. The only reason I didn't weekly was because the pricing was a little high for my budget, but the food is absolutely phenomenal. The grilled cheese is fantastic and their breakfast sandwiches are great too.
A gem in the north. The homemade ice cream was fantastic. Will be stopping for food in the future and will not let the poor reviews deter me. Good food takes time. There is no where nearby that is providing organic and local. Thank you Farm Market Cafe for being here. UPDATE: Stopped for food on the way back from the cabin. The bread was fresh and delicious that came with the chicken noodle soup. Unlike any chicken noodle soup from a can, this is real soup and the kids enjoyed it. The veggie burger was delicious, and plant-based, a plus! The bun that comes with the burger is not vegan, but this is stated very clearly on the menu. Based on other reviews, prices were fair. If you want a cheap meal, eat greasy fast or diner food. This is real food and your stomach will thank you.
Good food, but lousy service. Lattes were more like steamed milk with vanilla flavor-no coffee. Asked for water and refill on coffee, but didn't get it. Kid at the counter didn't know how to work register and nobody was offering him help. I hope this was just a one off day for them and the lousy service isn't the norm.
We stopped by on a road trip and were delighted by the fresh, healthy, local food and charming vibe. I'm really happy we found this place!
Happened to catch Sunday morning live music. Food and music were a treat!
Excellent. I came all the way from Chicago to go camping and while escaping the plagues of mosquitos and biting flies, stumbled across this place. Everything here tastes homemade. Possibly the best food I've had in small town Midwest. Told the rest of my campers about this place and brought them there. Everybody seemed to love it.
Great place to eat, food was perfect and the home made ice cream was delicious. Great friendly service, will definitely stop there again.
Very slow. Hashbrowns need a lot of help - they were super greasy and burnt black. Very expensive. Awkard staff. Strange, small menu. Just not a pleasant experience.
I want to give the Farm Market Cafe a good review, because, honestly, we enjoyed our food, and it's fantastic to have a roadside stop cafe that actually serves scratch-made, locally sourced, fresh food. If you're driving up on 169 towards Mille Lacs or Brainerd, and you want something other than frozen family restaurant junk or mediocre truck stop meatloaf, this place deserves your business. If the Farm Market Cafe owners ever read this review, though, I want them to know that they really need to take a look at their restaurant operations and work a little harder on the customer experience. It feels so hectic and unrefined in there, and (as nicely as I can put this), their servers seem untrained and not very knowledgable or helpful. That sounds mean, but the fact is, if they want to succeed as a roadside cafe, while charging a premium for locally sourced natural and organic ingredients, they need to be able to make their customers feel like they're getting their money's worth. If someone stops in randomly, and isn't already sold on the idea of getting fresh and local food, they might very well turn around and walk out after getting hit with the sloppiness of this place. But my point remains that the food was wonderful! Fresh, flavorful, well made, well worth the stop, warts and all!
I had the most fantastic cheese cake cookies!
Its ok
Tasty homemade food, and great prices.
The chai is the best I have tasted and the service is very polite.
The food is awesome. All made from scratch. Organic
Great food. The service was a little slow the day we went because they were training in new staff but they were very pleasant and upfront about it. Would recommend you check it out if you are looking for clean eating options.
Good hidden gem
