They take reservations for a fee. If you happen to snag a prime seat at the bar with perfect viewing of the band, there is a minimum spend amount expected. Im not sure what the spend is supposed to be, but we weren't there. Not a problem, tho, the food is good, the beer selection is decent and they have a good cocktail list.

brian keller

Had an amazing cocktail here for New Year's Eve (the Bobby Burns). I was surprised. For a cafe, it's got great food, ambiance, and music.

Duane Badboy

Very nice people relaxing place

Kersten Richter

Good breakfast food. Nice place to work for a bit

Silke L.

A cute Jazz-cafe with amazing live music. I went here on a date with my boyfriend because we both love jazz and wanted to try to listen to some live jazz music. It was very cozy with nice waiters and good food. The music was a bit too loud. It would have been nice if I could have a small talk while listening to the music. - But all in all, it’s a place I would definitely visit again!

Cole Weis

Super cute coffee shop in a great location. Much larger breakfast menu than what I would have expected. Friendly staff.

Troy Seefeldt

Just great local shot serving fun food! $1 fries? Yes, please. Super polite staff

Casey H

Good burger and happy hour specials!

Hannah Gable

We ordered the cuban sandwich (I know big whoop) expecting it to come out beautifully pressed on ciabatta bread. We got the opposite, it was greasy and on some kind of white bread bun. It essentially was a semi-grilled pork and cheese sandwich with a hint of pickles accompanied with greasy fries that dreanched our to-go boxes. Big disappointment on this. Don't list ingredients if you're not going to use them and don't serve a side that looks like the only reason they made it out of the fryer was because they pulled themselves out for being tired of being burned to death and forgot to shake the grease off.

Haleigh Gulden

Incredibly friendly service, great happy hour and overall atmosphere. Quiet place to get coffee and work on things during the day. Also great vegetarian food.

Ivan Kowalenko

It's OK, but it's not the place it used to be. Back in the day it was far more a local coffee shop with some kitsch, and now it's more a hip bar that serves coffee and food during the day. They still make good coffee, though, but their tea selection is exactly what you'd get from a grocery store.

Elizabeth Pim Knutson

Great coffee martini! Totally recommend!

Joanne Danner

Bad food. And bad service

Kerri Kolstad

I always love when you can get breakfast for lunch. The black dog breakfast and salmon scramble are awesome. Staff are always friendly and efficient.

Jeff Morgan

Good bar. Small vibe. Awesome live music.

All Melanin

Owner of this place is a rude whale.

Les Stern

The best little club ever.

Lauren Erchul

Amazing experience for their jazz night! The food is fantastic, super fairly priced, service was fast and pleasant. Would totally recommend a date night here!

The Real Princess Gwen

We've been here many times for lunch after hitting the Farmer's Market and have always had wonderful experiences. This time, not so much. Server came to our table to greet is 10 minutes after we sat down, and after she greeted and took orders from 2 tables who arrived well after us. The menu had changed considerably, with fewer selections. Food took a long time to get to us but was hot and very good. They appeared to be understaffed and weren't as friendly as in the past.

If you are thinking about working here, DON'T. Sarah Remke is by far the worst boss I have ever had. Every single one of my coworkers despised her during my time here. She will scream at you in front of a dining room full of customers. I watched her make people cry every day. The regular customers hated her so much that if they walked in and saw the was there, they'd turn around and leave. This place also had multiple illegal business practices, such as mandating what servers could do with their tips, not reporting tips, and giving the health inspector a free meal in exchange for a good inspection. Don't get me wrong, I loved working here for a while just because I loved my coworkers and the customers. But that was before the remodel. After that, Sarah starting coming in every day. She is literally the most micro-managey person I have ever met. The funny part is, she will tell you how to do a job she has no clue how to do herself. I feel bad for her siblings who are co-owners. The best part about Sarah that really gets me is she hides behind this guise of being such a progressive person. But she treats her employees like garbage and pays them close to nothing. You've been warned.

GARY NELSON

Caught the Zorongo Flamenco show here on Sunday night. Fantastic show! (If I could have figured out how to get the bartender's attention, I would have ordered a second drink.)

Jeanne Gilbert

Food was great; service was great; music was fabulous!

Alicen Zschokke

Came here for lunch. Good atmosphere, great service, and excellent food.

Nick Bauman

Great atmosphere. Watched a standing room only performance of "The Dust of Suns" over brunch. The kitchen was slammed we didn't get our food for 30 minutes but it was worth it.

William Boland

Was a cozy place for coffee on a Sunday, though I think part of the coffee experience is to have it served in a mug and not in a pint glass. The soup/salad combo was decent but overloaded on dressing. I think on the North side wall by the stage there was definitely some mold that should be addressed. I'm only pointing out these things in the event that Black Dog looks at these for potential fixes. The experience was great overall but there is room for improvement to keep someone like me coming back.

Corinna Turner

If you enjoy jazz, good food, and a drink, this is the place to come; especially on a Saturday evening. The only suggestion is, that if this is a first date, the music can get loud, so holding a conversation to get to know one another can be challenging. Other than that, Black Dog Cafe is a great, trendy little spot in St. Paul.

Genesis Kadigurani

Good ambiance and vibe. Could use some smell good though.

Erin Lynch

Beautiful space! I went for brunch, and the black bean quesadilla was great. I had the coffee, which is okay.. I'll splurge for the espresso next time! The band that plays first Sunday of month made the visit even more special!

Suzanne Durkacs

Great place to listen to jazz, drink beer/wine, and eat dinner! My last visit was on a snowy Sunday night during a Vikings game so the crowd was small and quiet. The Charlie Lincoln Quartet played and they were amazing! Our meal was tasty and the service was excellent. We ordered a glass of Kölsch beer on tap and didn’t like it. I had the spaghetti with tomato sauce and it was very tasty with loads of basil. They have a full service bar here and a large separate dining room for overflow diners.

Tanith Broom

Great place for Brunch on the weekends- service can be hot or miss, but everything is so generally so great we keep coming back! Try to get a pillow seat!

Cadrian Aubrae

I love the location, mostly out of my nostalgic love for the old cupprenicus. The food is mediocre and pricy for the quality. I had a server nearly pour a whole hot coffee all over my 5 month old baby, luckily it all landed on my lap instead?! Also added almond to my regular decaf latte, and brought my companion two regular coffees for the price of one however that was an oversight as opposed to a nice gesture. They did comp my latte. Overall unimpressed.

Ellie Leonardsmith

Beautiful setting, and kind people. My dirty chai was pretty ok, not amazing. Might have to keep coming back to figure out what their best drink is. So gorgeous and quiet in a Monday morning... I'd love to come work here.

Mitchell Armstrong

Great food. A bit slow but it’s all about the atmosphere

Randy 55101

I've frequented the Black Dog many times over the past decade, first when it was the neighborhood coffee shop and now as a full service restaurant with great food, lovely people and a wonderful variety of music, particularly Jazz on the weekends. Of all the Lowertown restaurants, the Black Dog is the one that captures the essence of the neighborhood with the best balance of food, price, and ambiance. Street parking and inexpensive lot parking across Kellogg and about a block east of the restaurant so don't let that deter you!

Ron Weisman

Black Dog Cafe is so consistently good. The food is often simple, but flavorful. The prices are reasonable. The beer and wine selections are numerous without being overwhelming or pretentious. There is frequently an eclectic variety of live music, everything from avant guarde jazz to folk to ethnic roots music from various countries with an occasional bluegrass sound thrown in. You always know the food and drink are going to be solid and the music always engaging,

Robert Schroedl

Great space for casual time out. Not too crowded. Fair prices. Friendly and attentive staff.

Bill Catlin

Wonderful establishment that is a huge supporter of local jazz music and musicians

Sevinj Ahmadova

Salmon omelet is simply the best

Jarrett Buxell

Great location, and even better food, all eight in our group agreed. See you soon!

Ben Janssens

Nice place! Enjoyed seeing the Chauncey Peterson artwork on the walls.

LadyKing Cole

Fantastic stop anytime of day! Absolutely Delightful yet casual spot.

Janis Froehlig

I want to love it. Local live music is excellent. Meeting space is great. All three times I've been here I've waited over 30 minutes for my order, and gad to go to the bar to ask for it. Fries are skin on, and could be excellent if really fresh, but mine have been chewy and tepid, if not cold. Sandwiches are portioned carefully, not huge, and like the fries, theoretically could be excellent but end up way too chewy or hard on the outside to properly house the gooey inside. Lunch for two will easily set you back two foodstamps. It's not cheap, nor does the menu reflect cheap, so to get slow service with food that's been butchered by time passing is just a shame. I feel like I was set up, and I likely won't go back.

Kim Wolfe

Stopped in for lunch and had the Ratatouille. I can't wait to have it again! Walk in and seat yourself and within a couple of minutes the wait staff arrive at your table with menus and water. You will have trouble picking from their all-star lineup of entrees. I recommend ordering their fries (some of the best I've had) to munch on while you narrow down your choices. Service was excellent! Food was fast, fresh and tasty.

Deneen Gannon

Great food, lots of live music and a comfortable atmosphere. Love it.

Machinery Hill

The black dog Cafe has been beautifully remodeled and has a nice selection of food and beverages plus a thriving live music scene. Parking can be tricky but there are several lots nearby that are reasonable.

Kritika Prasher

Amazing place, the staff is amazing, very hip place

Rees Burak

The supposedly “large” Coffees we got tasted burnt, and the black bean burger is just a bland mushy pile of beans. Bartenders and servers were good so that was a plus.

Alexia Johnson

Cute, delicious food, go drinks. The interior is lovely.

Kevin Vold

Excellent jazz from Rhythm's Mama. Best live jazz band I've ever seen.

Lori VanBallegooyen

This neighborhood cafe is across the street from my daughter's apartment and it's a friendly, popular, corner nook that attracts a large local following. We were delighted to find live music being played even though it was a Sunday morning. The band kept it light and lively and set the mood for a hungry, patient crowd. The omelette my husband had was reported to be the best one he had ever eaten. My pancakes were high and fluffy and the true maple syrup was very tasty. The workers were smiling and apologizing for the busy morning but no one seemed bothered. Their happy attitudes and quick feet made the wait mostly painless! I really enjoy this cafe and will keep coming back when we visit St. Paul.

David Bergman

Food was ok. Had a turkey avocado bacon sandwich with salad

Bill Hughes

A great place to eat drink coffee or have a drink. Quiet in the morning and lively at night. At times good jazz. I've run into a bunch of old friends when I played in the big bands.

Evan Madson

Excellent sandwich & cocktail selection. Relaxing atmosphere & great music.

Mic

Great place to check out live music, get coffee, have a meal.

Steve Sarantos

Great chicken bites

Sheila Cole

Food and staff were great, but I got sick immediately.

Julian Watkins

The black bean burger and fries were awesome, a definite recommendation there. Their veggie sandwich also got a thumbs up from my partner. It was bursting with grilled veggies and buried underneath her side salad. My only gripe was as a jazz bar they play, well.. jazz. Which isn't a complaint but the volume was a bit much. The menu is minimal also so that might be an issue if you can't find something to your liking.

Samuel Branch

One of those places you want yo tell everyone about, yet you want to keep it low key for the intimate setting... The Jazz on Saturday Nights are my favorite, although I do frequent here during the week in the morning hours for coffee as well...

J Olson

Recent remodel is interesting. Changes the vibe a bit from Cafe to more of a dinner spot. Friendly staff, meals come with lots of fries if you get that as your side.

Kevin/Pam Kittridge

Great place for food and music.

Amy Smith

They've remodeled since the last time I was there - less cruchy-hippy coffee more of a bohemian/artist vibe. Speaking of art; the Black Dog Cafe is a real stand-out in regard to supporting local jazz in the Twin Cities. The service was great and the black bean burger was really tasty!

Brian Perry

Really delicious! Beautiful food, delightful drinks, fair atmosphere.I really love this place

Nate Roiger

Amazing food. Poor Wi-Fi.

Malena Ink

Wonderful music venue, good food, coffee and wine.

Tami Staats

The food is fresh, delicious, and REAL. The atmosphere is industrial and eclectic, with originality. The staff is pleasant and relaxed. I would recommend visiting Black Dog.

Ralph Knowlton

Great jazz night! Good beer and the food is good however, I asked for bearnaise and received a cold sauce. No big deal it still tasted good.

Krisha Marcano

Good food easy vibe.

Taylor Davis

This was my second time at black dog. Lovely ambiance, they have live music if you come later in the evening. Menu looks approachable and delicious but the execution could use some work. Ordered the huevos rancheros which were tasty and spicy. Add avocado for 2 dollars extra cause its a nice contrast from crunchy to soft. Eggs were perfectly cooked and runny. Someone else at our table had the roast beef hash which was less appealing. Roast beef was pretty dry, dish came out like warm, and could use some more salt and pepper to really flavor the dish. Service could use some work. Waited a few minutes before we were brought menus by our server, then a few minutes more for water, then a while for coffee and bloody Mary's. Server came around once we had our food to check up on us but not to refill drinks. Fine experience overall and will be back to check out the rest of the menu!

JL A

This place is very eclectic. I love the international music that I don't find at many other places. I've never had trouble getting a table. Staff is always friendly and helpful. The food menu is clearly upper scale, however I would prefer to have some cheap eats on the menu. My only other wish is for a larger selection of craft beer.

Tunde University of Minnesota

Early morning grub, breaking bread with colleagues @ our monthly team meeting. ‘Twas good to get together outside the work environment... Most of us settled for the breakfast sandwich, which was quite filling. Service was excellent...

Alexis Grefe

Cozy atmosphere. Interesting menu with a variety of options. Live music made for a fun dinner.

Joe Bonfe

It’s just okay in every way...

Angela Mertz

I am new to St. Paul and am seeking out cool, casual places to grab a drink with friends after work. I checked out Black Dog and was pleased by: the beautiful big windows which let in nice light, friendly staff, beer options, happy hour prices, and vegan/vegetarian offerings. One small favor for BDC; when pairing a burger and beer for HH, dont charge $2 extra for the black bean burger...why?!

Julie Hanson

Bloody mary was not great. Cool space. Good house smoked salmon.

Julie Lexvold

This is a very cozy, trendy cafe and brunch spot. Service was a little slow but it was also the weekend. They had live jazz music which made a fun accompaniment to my breakfast.

Steve Gjerdingen

What a disappointment. They should have chosen a new name at the time of their makeover, because the place resembles none of it's former identity. This is no longer a coffee shop, and everything is full-service. I wish I had gotten to order the gluten-free bagel that they used to have before they nixed it. Parking is very expensive on-street, and the restaurant itself is expensive too. I do like that they have live music here, and I've wanted to come back some time when a group is actually here. I will hopefully be back here for that at some point. At least the music is still cheap it sounds like (for now).

Barbara Rose

Live music almost every night. Very intimate close to the stage. Great food, Very friendly service at a reasonable price. The owner Sara id's often there watching over and greeting guests.

Johnathon Ramirez

Great service. Food was adequate. Bloody mary was horrible. First time in my life I haven't finished my drink

A Phillips

Exceptional service, good food and booze, fun and entertaining: relaxed and peaceful during the day; snazzy and hip in the evenings. I adore this place.

shantishante

Good food. Good service. Nice music.

Gary Waits

Great food, atmosphere and friendly staff. Their live music really pulls the place together and is very pleasant to watch and listen to. Also the music they play over the speakers when there isn’t a band playing is fantastic as well, there’s not too many bars and restaurants that’ll play pre-war style blues anymore as a regular music choice. Highly recommend!

Nathaniel Norton

Very pleasant. Good beer. Nice service.

Chris Mueller

Good food and an easy going atmosphere. Highly recommended.

Tracey Fredrick

Coffee is great here. Not your typical chain. Since everything is handmade, not from concentrates, expect preparation to take a little longer, but it is worth the wait. Food here is also good and come on a live music night. Be aware that there isn't a parking lot, so you have to use available street parking, which is metered. Also, can get busy during farmers market times.

evan peterson

Laid back atmosphere. Friendly staff. Delisous food priced fair. They have the best cheesecurds in the twin cities.

Dennis Brletich

Low key, good food great staff.

chris kovacic

Probably better when they have live music. To meet after work for drinks and dinner the food is humdrum and the drinks are overpriced.

Paul Beeman

Food and service was great!

Anthony Kahane

My first weekend as a server here I met and waited on the mother of another employee. She made a joke or two, ordered a drink, and asked me how long I'd been there. When I told her I'd been there about a week she laughed and quipped -much to my confusion- that I'd probably be there another month then. Well here we are a month later, and true to her prediction I gave my notice yesterday. When I heard the joke I didn't know what to make of it, but the Black Dog has the highest server turn-over rate of any restaurant I've ever worked in, and a mere 5 weeks into the game it was easy to see why. I could literally write a book-length enumeration of my reasons for quitting, but I'm just going to share one more short anecdote here to get the general sense of my dissatisfaction across. The other night I had a table order fish tacos from me in addition to a couple of beers, but because the two of them wanted to share the plate, they asked if they could have 4 tacos instead of 3. The way the prices are laid out, 2 tacos cost $10, and three tacos cost $12, so naturally my guests and I assumed that an additional taco would put the cost of all 4 at $14. Not so. Three minutes after I rang in the order the very annoyed proprietress of the restaurant came out of the back, demanding to know what I had been thinking. "You could have had a $20 sale!" she admonished me, "just ring in two orders of two." I told her that it didn't seem appropriate to me to do that given the price-point of the tacos, and I will never forget the response she parried with. She said to me, entirely in earnest, "we're not trying to be the cheapest taco house in town." This customer-second attitude is my biggest reason for quitting, notwithstanding the 15% of tips I was forced to surrender to the kitchen every night, or the fact that three paychecks in, I have never seen a pay stub (none of my co-workers have either, I've asked). The food is overpriced but pretty good, the music is a huge selling-point, and the general ambiance cultivated by the decor and high ceilings make it a relaxing spot for getting some work done over an expensive coffee beverage. Overall, I've never been more comfortable giving out a grade of C, and have seldom been more certain that I won't be going back to a restaurant.

Daniel Morales Morales

Nice place to go to eat live music great place check it out.

Kevin McCallister

Pretty decent place food is good

Roderic Olson

Good food and great service.

Dave Borden

I had started going into this place on my morning commute and would buy a doughnut just so I was a paying customer when I used the bathroom. I never wanted the doughnut so I would just tell the staff they could give it away to a homeless person. On my last day going in there I was going up to the register and the old white lady with black curly hair begins to chastise me for "putting the responsibility of this doughnut on employees". The tonality and manor in which she talked to me was enough to make me never go back there, not that I think they would care. The fact of the matter is this place prides itself on being progressive but apparently the idea of being asked to give my food to a homeless person was enough of a bother to make them collectively complain.

Danielle Gaskins

Friendly, prompt service. Food choices were ecclectic.. savory and delicious. If we weren't headed somewhere else we would have stayed for the live music. Nice experience.

Maggie Ripsin

Love this place. Went to see Zosha Warpeha play. She's fantastic. Plus, the atmosphere and food are outstanding.

Edward Nelson

Great food! Great service!

Carl Stephenson

Really an excellent place to get together. They have coffee, wine, beer and hard liquor, and it's served in a beautiful setting.

Eric Van Dam

Good food but waitress kept trying to take our plates lol.

Marybeth Luing

Too crowded, same old same old music sound with a trumpet player who inserts himself into every combo...not adding anything.

Camille Johnson

On my mom’s birthday she asked for the Black Dog and to have it at home. The restaurant is near our home so we walked to picked up our three to go orders. My sister and I order the Pan-Seared Chicken. The menu describes the meal as “boneless thigh, herb jus, mashed potatoes, grilled vegetables, house pickled vegetables” It’s almost laughable how different our meal actually were, we received: random placed chicken thigh onto unflavored mashed potatoes with cold carrots. There was no grilled vegetables. Correction no vegetables but singular group of cold carrot. We called to say we were returning to ask for a full refund and unfortunately my mom felt bad she selected this restaurant and came with. The waitress was at the door when we returned and immediately said that the cook can add the grilled veggies to which arises the question why were they not included instead of having the customer come back to your restaurant ..my mom asked if the entrees was worth the $17..the waitress responded with making a face, taking 10 minutes to refund our meal and then came back to correct my mom to say that it was actually $16...to say I will not be back is an understatement and I advice against the Pan-Seared Chicken and matter of fact the Black Dog.

Jim Kess

Great tasting burgers.

Annika Kohrt

Decent hummus platter

Aaron Ziegler

Terrible service, six people at our table....all received their food at different times. One of us was completely done with his food before the others even received their orders. I ordered a burger as "medium" and it was well, WELL done, with not a trace of pink - atrocious shoe-leather of a hamburger. Fries were good, and ambience passable. I will not be back.

Michael Gauer

Amazin

Ross Nixon Music

The Black Dog consistently chooses to present some of the finest music in town. Not to mention their great cuban sandwich and beer selection. I come back every chance I have.

Calista Sullivan

Love the menu and all the food is great, nice environment but every time I’ve been here the service is really slow.

T John

Atmosphere wasn’t for me. Drinks are good. Limited menu but food was decent.

Brad Kimble

A quaint coffee house with an excellent menu. We'll be back again.

Carlelynn Elftmann

Super delicious breakfast.

Julian Struksheats

Great ambiance, with great food and hip live music

Ashley J. Peters

One of the few cafes open until 9 in St. Paul; great music and a good menu.

Jacob Poppe

This cafe is clean and well kept, and has an awesome atmosphere. The staff were friendly, helpful, and timely. The food was delicious!

Duane Bosteel

A fun night of jazz with some excellent Twin Cities players. Good food and a big selection of craft beers

Thomas B. Myers

Great local coffee bar and restaurant. Live music and great drinks and food.

Laura S.

, I waited 40 minutes for food then it was cold when we got it. And it wasn't even busy. The waitress and manager told me sorry they got slammed. But there were like four tables the entire restaurant so it just was ridiculous

Dylan Ricci

Very comfortable setting, nice staff and the coffee is a-okay

Matthew Gustafson

Good atmosphere and well made espresso.

Jake Poradek

Food and service staff were excellent! Live local music, which I really injoyed along with a great beer selection.

Colin Dunn

I love this place. Coffee's good and not too expensive. They've got a good selection of beer and the food is good as well. The space, in an old train warehouse, is open and feels historic. Just a great local spot that's been around for a good while!

Ben Logan

The scenery was great. I went there for brunch and the food options all sounded great but the food was only ok when we got it. I'd want to try the dinners there as I have heard from others that those are great

Don Lenz

Located near CHS Field and the farmers market this cafe is a great place to sit and have a cup of coffee. The food was served up in a timely fashion and tastes great. Friendly staff and beer on tap. Live music and an art vibe in the rustic studio environment.

Mary Williams-Greene

Love Black Dog! They are one of the cornerstones of Lowertown. They are involved in the community and offer great music - especially Jazz on Saturday nights.

Kristine K.

Very friendly staff, laid back, and great life music. I ordered an iced latte, tastes great and I'm happy I ordered it to stay.

steve ryhn

Wonderful bartenders - personable, friendly, and happy to create any number of craft cocktails. Plus, they have great food, and a good selection of musicians playing on a regular basis.

tk

Cool spot with great atmosphere. I wish they would get more involved with the local music scene. It's such an awesome venue for rootsy/indie acoustic music but these shows are few and far between. They recently removed the power outlets :-/ So now I work/study/buy drinks elsewhere.

Jesika Kaiser

Bf & I wanna try this place out more often

Noel Nix

Went here for jazz night, which is every Saturday. Had the cubano with fries. Pulled pork was super tender and flavorful. Decent portion of hot, crispy fries. The music was amazing!

Jose Monjaraz-Medina

The Huevos Rancheros are a must try if you're there for breakfast! Good food. Decent staff.

matthew gregg

Amazing live jazz music all the time. Not the greatest cocktails but that's not why I go there.

Clint Weathers

Saw one grey Great Dane. No black dogs.

Damien Schoop

John Buyense

Great food and atmosphere!

Keili Jacinto

The music was nice and low key. Food is fairly priced but not a ton of options. The bar and even full espresso options were very convenient! This is a good place to have a few drinks with friends on a quieter night or a good place to sit alone, enjoy live music and sip on a latte.

Bret Armstrong

I absolutely love their breakfast menu and the staff is wonderful!

Yizhar Baumer

Nice beer, friendly staff

Shevek McKee

A great space and long time staple of lowertown. The food and drinks are both good, the service has always been great. They have live music frequently and an excellent space for events and frequent meetups (have attended both writer's meetups and boardgame meetups. Enjoy!

Joe Fisher

Great Food, enjoyed the Cubano and the Chicken Pot Pie. Great service, wait staff was very attentive and nice. Will be back!

thekrohnies

Peter Danbury

Good food and coffee, decent beerlist, wonderful location, great music and decor and vibe.

Leslie Lowery

Pricey, average food.good music. Yes

Angi Desp

Love this place! Great place to grab breakfast, coffee or a drink with friends If you're hungry, I strongly encourage you to try their black bean burger. Even for non vegetarians like me, it's amazing!!!

Nellie

Saw an amazing band at the Black Dog's weekly jazz showcase. Grabbed a black bean burger (very tasty!) And a few beers with a friend, and it was a great night out! Perhaps not super conducive for talking because of the band, but it seems like it would be a great lunchtime spot or nice for a couple's dinner on a quieter night. I would definitely recommend!

Abby Rose

This place is great, definitely a place worth eating at.

Christopher Repinski

Good strong coffee. Fish tacos were yummy

george joseph

Just saw this while driving and stepped inside. A very laid back environment. They serve everything from breakfast to dinner with the addition of live music in the evenings. Food was good and prices are average.

Judy Park

A hidden gem in STP. Large space for people to study, hold small team meetings and interview. Plus they have a side space for large meetings that can be reserved. We had a team meeting from 9-3pm and it was perfect. Their music isn't distracting and helps provide background noise. We opened a tab for the entire day so that helped the flow. Parking is street (2 hours max at a time) or the farmers market parking lot that is about 1.5 blocks down.

Zachary Zabloski

Food was good, some sides seemed a little overpriced and underwhelming. Service is why it's only 3 stars. Slow to help us and provide basic service.

Ruthi Kappes

I was invited here for a Happy Hour and liked the place so much I went the next day for lunch. The first trip I had a perfect breve and a slice of almond-lavender cake (not too rich, just right). For lunch the next day I ordered the Prosciutto and Arugula pizza. A little too much balsamic for my taste, but still so good I ate almost all of it. I look forward to trying the lemon pancakes.

Mandy Clybor

Patio dining in lowertown. Excellent food, gluten free options! Great coffee. Wine and local brews available.

pilot lgnokia

Always great food. Live music on Friday and Saturday are a big reason I go here, but also because of the great food and delicious cocktails. The beer menu rotates on the chalk board. Table service understandably slows as it gets busy but it's no different anywhere else although they tend to get slammed all at once when there is a game. This is a gem of the Lowertown community and a favorite of mine.

Lois Donnay

Wonderful food and just a great space. They always have something fun going on.

Vicki Erickson

Fantastic jazz, excellent service, awesome espresso Martini

Aaron Schwartz

We didn't have the food. The atmosphere isn't right for a music venue and regardless how much I want it to be it won't replace the artist quarter. Note for the manager: The service is bad! We couldn't get the check from the bartender. It was as if we had been stuck in purgatory for an evening.
