REVIEWS OF Birchwood Cafe IN Minnesota

Amanda Taylor

The avocado toast is phenomenal! The bread is thick and whole grain and fresh. The avocados are fresh and light. We also had the savory waffle and the Birchwood Benedict. Those dishes were also amazing. This is one of our favorite places to eat in the Cities both for the food and the fair wage commitment to the workers.

Mimi B.

Pretty bland meal overall. We split the pancakes and a savory waffle. The pancakes themselves were small, but the homemade whipped cream made up for it somewhat. I didn't like that the poached apples were served on the side cold, rather than warm as I expected. The waffle definitely hit some savory notes, but overall left something to be desired.

Linda McLoon

The food here is focused on locally sourced ingredients. The brunch is particularly awesome. You order (expect a long line), and the staff brings it to your table. I had the waffle with 4 toppings and a totally awesome mimosa flight with 4 different flavors ..passion fruit and blood orange as examples. Everyone at my table loved their food. The pancakes were light and fluffy, the quiche tasty, and the salad plate interesting and complex. Coffee refills are included. The wait staff are amazing. I should point out that they have vegan and gluten free options - often hard to find at most places that do breakfast and lunch.

Stacy Welle

So good, fresh, and amazing! The lines are super long around 10-11am on weekends, but the line calms down around noon. They do bring you coffee while you wait in line though, so that's a treat. The avocado toast and waffles were great! Even the decaf coffee was good, which is hard to find. They have a system that works well, but be prepared to wait in line for yummy food. Once it's ordered, it doesn't take long to come out though.

Miquel Medina

Modern American cuisine for health conscious clientele. It's counter service but the staff is very attentive. You can also buy some of their house made products packaged to take home. Seasonal menu items may change frequently.

Sarah Strandmark

The key lime pie is SO good!

Julene Flink

Delicious food made with real, local when possible, ingredients.

George Juarez

Great steak and fries and a scorched salad went well with my evening had a great time and they have quite a selection of drinks! Overall they are all they are talked up to be! Ps. pies for dessert

John d

Great breakfast! A bit pricey but worth it.

Kristen Hayashi

I love this place. I have never had a bad meal here. The staff is friendly, the food is fresh and locally sourced, and the desserts look amazing (will one day save room for the dessert). Their seed bread and jam is a personal favorite!

Ryan Harbst

Great food and atmosphere! The restaurant was very busy, but the service was quick despite this. Many vegan and gluten free friendly options. I had the avocado toast, the bread was thick and very good!

muzeus

Great food, I got the French toast and fries to share. The restaurant was extremely busy, so it would be good to call ahead, worth the wait if you're in the area. Customer service was great and friendly.

William Waisbren

Food was quite good. It's a nice little cafe

Lisa Andrews

I ordered the vegan Arepas...twice this week. They are also gluten free. We also shared the Birchwood salad and had one of several vegan gluten free desserts. I am stuffed with the most wonderful food. Everytime I come to Minneapolis, Birchwood is always on my list. I am vegan and gluten free and there are always choices to be had. Everything is always so tasty.

Lance Thornswood

The menu is amazing. If you bring a party larger than 4 for brunch, it's a bit stressful waiting to see if you'll be able to get a table, because they don't take brunch reservations. If not for that one shortcoming, is have rated them five stars.

Joel Abrahamson

I keep coming back to the savory waffle. Servers are kind and thoughtful. It can get really busy at peak hours, but in warmer months Birchwood has sidewalk seating outside.

Çarolyn Holford

Nice atmosphere. High prices. Coffee is not that good. My friend enjoyed it.

Kevin Bruns

Great brunch with a seasonally rotating menu. Great coffee too!

Noah Tracy

Birchwood bowl was delicious! Great asparagus. So was the blueberry key lime pie!

Mark Tokheim

Great breakfast and coffee. Even though I am not a vegan they have lots of vegan options. I had the eggs benedict and it was awesome!

Mike Boe

Wow. Their fried chicken meal was amazing. I have no idea how the chicken was so moist and yet so crispy on the outside. Incredible.

Laura Lee Moffett

Yum! Great food. Lots of gf options. Clean restrooms. Well organized for ordering, seating, etc.

Peter Baptiste

Good food. Excellent service. Reasonable prices. Great community ambience. Can't lose

Ashley Mellgren

Birchwood Cafe is cute and so delicious. It is a cozy little cafe that has great food for everyone from vegan to meat lovers. They have coffee, food, desserts (whole pies) and merchandise. Great little place. I would for sure go back here.

jason goebel

Delicious! I had the daily eggs Benedict and was very happy! The staff was also able to accommodate our very large group, which I know isn't easy. They were very nice. Also, the coffee was fantastic too.

Emily Gruen

This place was super cute and cozy for a cool spring morning breakfast! The service was quick and everyone was friendly. We got in at 915 on a Saturday morning and didn’t have to wait at all! We tried the savory waffle and breakfast sandwich! The waffle is by far the best thing on the menu with unbeatable unique flavors! Definitely recommend coming here.

David Westphall

Fantastic menu with healthy and delicious choices. Highly recommend the savory waffles. Plenty of vegan and vegetarian options as well.

Cathy Kendall

Everyone liked their food. I liked the free seltzer water with big glasses (so many places give you a tiny plastic cup when you order water).

Juhyun Kwon

Great food great service. Good location and good size place. I love the food it is delicious!!

Ana K

Very fun brunch place with a doggo friendly patio.

Michael Palzkill

Great food and great atmosphere!

Russell Milles

Trendy, hipster, counter service. A bit pricey but not over the top and you get what you pay for. One of the best bloody Mary's I have ever had . We went on a Sunday morning and stood in line for about 45 minutes....they brought us coffee as we waited....nice touch!

Diane .H

The food was delicious and the restaurant is adorable!

Roshan Rajkumar

What a great place for breakfast. Come early. Plenty of choices. But highly recommend a fresh baked cinnamon roll to start. The large Chai latte was spicy and sweet and not sugary. And the avocado toast was simply perfect. My guests loved their meals including the Quiche Lorraine with greens. The Carmel latte was spot on with love of a design on top. Make a stop by this place if you want something tasty and fresh.

Alexander Davis

Great food and a sustainable perspective and mission! Much needed change of pace from other restaurants offerings. The space is inviting, however can feel a bit cramped but so worth it!

Kevin Kuglin

I'd rate them zero if I could. The "chef" is very rude and unprofessional. He also seems to enjoy mocking customers. I overheard him grumbling a lot when the waitress would ask him things. They are not accommodating to those with disabilities. I overheard a customer today about having a partner with Alzheimer's and they wanted some help getting their food to go since it looked like they struggled to find seating that would accommodate her needs. She looked very anxious and scared and it seemed like they wanted a seat to keep her contained while they ate. She wanted the food to go as it seems it didn't work out and I can see that their loved one was wandering a lot. They put the ticket on the order, but he never cooked it right away even when I can see most of everyone had food on their plates. He took an enormous amount of time, almost like it was on purpose. Seeing this all play out, I will never eat here again knowing that the establishment did nothing to help them assess the situation and find them some proper seating. If you have loved ones with special needs or disabilities, avoid eating here.

Abhishek Vijayakumar

Great food, but noise level can be high in the indoor seating area.

yuri r

Biked there for my September favorite: heirloom tomato BLT to be told that they are out of tomatoes.

Joseph Hargis

Spectacular food. Truly an amazing place. Loved everything about it.

Charlie Carroll

Great food and service.

Derrel Fisk

Birchwood Cafe is an amazing farm to table restaurants and is hands-down the best brunch in all of Minneapolis. I have been here almost a dozen times and I'm never disappointed. You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu but the eggs benedict is the best I've ever had! Try the savory waffle or the tofu hash chimichurri. Their burger is also really great. The best part about them is all the ingredients are fresh and local. This is a must try and one you'll be going back to bring your friends.

Shelly Ebnet

Food was yummy but the coffee was awful! Ordered a latte but had to send it back. :(

Pulkit kashyap

This place is delicious. As walking toward the register to place my order, I easily changed my mind three time what I. Need to order. I decided to go with Savory Waffle with three toppings. Everything was so delicious to eat. I will try to go there in regular basis and try other food items too. This place also serves amazing desserts and salads. Those are also must try. The siracha fries were little bit spicy was well crispy and soft from inside. The beet orange soda was good beverage that day.

Cassie McEwen

Delicious food. The line gets crazy on weekends for brunch, but the line boss human is exquisite at his job, and they go around giving you coffee to help you wait. It is worth it. Savory waffle dish made my tummy so darn happy.

Jenifer Wical

Enjoyable stop during a bike ride. Morning and afternoon menus, sparkling water, quaint outdoor seating options. Great service.

Chase Nelson

Birchwood is some of the best brunch I've had in the Twin Cities area. Initially seeing how long the line was long enough to almost turn me away. It ended up only being about a 15 min wait, the turnover is pretty quick. I ordered their take on a Benedict and pancakes, everything was amazing and well worth the wait. I recommend trying Birchwood if you're in the area.

Lukas Schmitt

Excellent service and delicious food with great options for vegan or gluten free people.

R K

Breakfast and coffee were both very good. Great service.

Hannah Lang

The food here was delicious. The staff were amazing and attentive. Everything was made fresh. The atmosphere is relaxed.

Sarah UW

Recently became vegan and am checking out places around the cities. The Tofu Scramble here is literally the best vegan breakfast I have found so far

Kristen Putikka

Food was good. I wanted a BLT, but they were out for the day. This is a farm to table place so everything is fresh. I had the savory waffle instead.

Arjun Bandari

A great place for breakfast and brunch!! Ambiance was very subtle. Perfect amount of lighting. Staff is great and food will be served quickly no matter how crowded it is. I had biscuits and gravy. I did not really expect it to taste so good, my god the veggies were lightly cooked in some mystery sauce and it was really delicious. The carrots were well cooked and gravy was superb! Not a fan of biscuits but at birchwood my opinion changed. Pancakes were well cooked, the batter was really fresh, the syrup had a honey like taste, it could have been honey maybe. Before giving your order at the reception you can have a good look at their bakery section, I had coconut chocolate macarons, loved them. I had sample tastings of apple pie and another sticky bread whose name i can't recall but I can say that anything you buy from the bakery will taste great. 100% would recommend for good breakfast, the amount of natural light makes you feel fresh. Will treat your hangovers and boost your energy in the mornings.

Charlene Terrana

Wonderful, comforting, creative, healthy food and drinks in a warm environment.

Lucy Liu

(Posting for a friend) As a lady (yes, a LADY) who has seen the quaint vineyards of Chalon-sur-Saône and experienced the Michelin-level cooking of my Mémé, I know a good quiche lorraine when I see one. This, mind you, does not live up to a real French quiche. However, for an American cafe, Birchwood does fine. I enjoyed the cafeteria-style line with the wealth of representation in the cookline. The savory waffle was de-VOURED (or as they say in France, dévoré) by my handsome and single friend Paul, who wanted to award this establishment with a 5 star review. Anyway, it's a 4 for me. Take me back to France #AuRevoir #VivalaFrance

Ben Kervin

Very busy but worth the wait!

Courtney Parker

Amazing experience! Great gluten free and vegan options, and willing to make substitutions for allergies! Well worth the price, would definitely recommend it!

Larry Nielsen

Good food in a neighborhood. Wine and beer. Outdoor dining. Great vegetarian menu. Street parking.

Tina Cassler

Excellent dinner last night al fresco! We enjoyed the Birchwood burger and the THAW burger. Excellent burgers and greens. We missed the sparkling water because the tap wasn't working. Also, it would be helpful for you to list the types of buns the burgers are served on - one of us cannot eat flax seeds. Fortunately, we simply switched buns and were able to enjoy our meals.

Darcie Vandegrift

A local treasure. My first visit, on a weekend, was welcoming. Order/pay for breakfast at the counter and settle in to cozy brunch fare brought to your table. Nice house coffee and egg dishes (with greens). Bakery counter looked good. Gender nonconforming friendly. Kid friendly. A good place to go for a tasty meal and long conversation.

Barbara H

Excellent food - always friendly!

Geoffrey Simone

It's your typical trendy, hipster cafe with all the stereotypes you can imagine. But don't let that stop you, the food is excellent and the staff is more than helpful! Get in asap as the place gets stuffed with people very quickly.

Sara Hanson

The food is amazing! Always beautifully presented. Such a cool menu!

Scott Cole

As always, incredible food and service! Had the Wild rice turkey salad sandwich today, and a slice of fresh apple pie, and all I can say is, what a satisfying lunch!! My guests were equally impressed with their meals as well. Thanks Team Tracy!!!

Charlie Walch

It's fine. Fresh food sourced locally, prepared creatively but priced too high.

Ryan Lea

I was hesitant about trying something new. But everyone made me and my fiancé feel very welcome. Let us know what tasted best, and our choices were perfect! On our way out we decided to get dessert to go and man am I glad we did. Everything tasted amazing and the service was incredible.

Blake Baker

Incredible food, amazing selection of coffees, teas, and ciders. Unbelievably nice staff. One of the people at the front counter turned into a waitress for my disheveled grandparents and were very accommodating. I wish I knew her name to thank her manager. Also plenty of beautiful art on the walls to gaze upon whilst socializing.

Melanie Blazar

The food was yummy with a really aesthetically pleasing set up. The staff was very sweet and it wasn’t very crowded. The only reason I’m giving it a 4 is that the food really wasn’t for me. For those who really love organically made, fresh, interesting food, definitely come here!

Amanda Johnson

The food is amazing. I love how they do wage equity (tips calculated into the cost from the start). They are good sensitivity friendly!

Mike Ferguson

Super long wait to get in which would tell you the food is out of this world. Food is average and Portion sizes are embarrassingly small. My buddy and I thought food was tasty however had to go out and get something to eat after because we were still hungry and couldn't justify ordering again.

Andrew Zabel

Great food! Always delicious. Sometimes its busy, because it's so good! Coffee is great too, they have peace coffee. Pastries are good, and it's a very food allergenic friendly place. I would highly recommend for any meal! Posted is the Benedict

Greg Sund

Love the setting in a residential neighborhood. Very relaxing.

Diana Johnson

Delicious, nutritious food. Great staff. Good vibes all around.

Sarah Hill

Birchwood is a Seward neighborhood staple. I love it for its wholesome food options, dietary variety, and non-obsene portion sizes. It's a place where you can go to enjoy delicious food without feeling guilty about what you're putting in your body. Today was the first sub-stellar visit I've had there. They were out of all three of the alcoholic beverages my dude and I tried to order, and they forgot our side of fries ($2.50 extra as a side with a burger) until after we got the rest of our food. That said, today was a fluke. The only issues you might find are the prices, but these cover legitimately good food and wages for the staff. My gripe with pricing is that when I worked for a nonprofit in the same neighborhood, Birchwood wanted to charge $500 for their private room. That price does not include food or beverage... For an establishment that claims to be community oriented, that seemed a little ridiculous. All in all: great and wholesome food, normal portions, cute neighborhood vibe, higher prices

Karin Berdal

We always love going to Birchwood! Not only are their ingredients always the best, but their service is top-notch as well! The savory pancake is always a favorite but the egg/hash is too! A must for trying in every season as it always in reflected in their interment choices.

Scott Parker

The Birchwood Cafe is one of my all time favorite spots for breakfast and lunch in the Twin Cities. I need to try dinner there sometime. On my most recent visit, I had a tofu hash for breakfast. It was very good, but I have yet to try something there that surpasses the savory waffle. There is always a line when I go, but they do a great job of keeping it moving and seeing everyone to a table.

Drew Running

Great food that is locally sourced. Lunch is bustling with locals and plenty of patio seating.

Avis Thomas

Delicious, healthy food in a pleasant cafe not far from the river. Loved it. It's pretty popular, so plan your visit to avoid rush times.

Angela Marti

Savory waffle! I’m coming back for more.

Nicole Vöpel

Loved it here. Super delicious food.

Becca Sedler

I love Birchwood cafe. They have amazing burgers and special homemade buns. Everything is so fresh! The coffee is amazing too. Definitely recommend this restaurant! There is a room that can be used for private events as well. The desserts and pastries are top notch!

Carol Behmlander

Excellent food nice atmosphere bucket list a must see

Gino Fumagalli

This place has the best brunch!! Go here and get something unique for a good start to your weekend mornings. Get the savory waffle, lots of interesting flavors. You order before you sit down, which is actually really nice so you know your food starts right away.

Carlo Ricciardi

One of the best breakfast spots in the Twin Cities. Food is always stellar and the staff is great.

Gard S. Vid

Superb breakfast! Cozy atmosphere! And many gluten free alternatives! The staff was excellent and service minded. I highly recommend a trip to Birchwood cafe!

Brandon Feil

Everything was tasty! That said, the pork on the waffle was tough. Also, prepare for close quarters dining during peak busy times.

Val Rosenbaum

Menu is no longer my cup of tea for various reasons. Sending vibes of rethinking the whole presentation. Best wishes.

Sam Hentges

Incredible food, great selection of vegetarian options, and fast service. I was particularly happy that gratuity was built into pricing. Will be re-visiting soon!

Richard Carrillo

I have been here before and have always appreciated the food, but just had their Bone Broth Drink/Soup and thought it was one of the most incredible experiences I have ever had! The spices were complex and it was the perfect thing to have to warm up on a cool day. I can’t recommend it enough!!!!

2miaguys

Quality fresh ingredients; vegan options; nice atmosphere; friendly service; a bit pricy.

Nao Vang

I really wanted to love it but it was just okay. The atmosphere was very cute and clean. I love the farm to table aspect of everything but the food was only okay. I arrived at 7am with 2 others and did not get our food til after 7:30. The favors were very experimental and nothing hit the spot. The hollandaise tasted like straight sour cream. The steak was almost well done and gray even though it was requested to be medium rare. Again I really wanted to love this cafe but it didn't hit any of the right notes for me unfortunately.

McKenzie Van Loh

I never write reviews for restaurants but I knew I needed to give this one a good review. Very busy but smooth. I was never in a bad mood here. Friendly staff. Very delicious and healthy food that made me feel nourished instead of grossly full like other brunch places. So worth it. I will probably be back!

k e

Sometimes the dishes are mediocre, but the food quality is always top notch

David Aussendorf

My Go To ( by bike ) spot for brunch. Quality ingrediants, staff that cares makes for great food and coffee.

Celeste Harlow

Always a great experience and very accommodating for allergens. I'm gluten free and always have great (well labeled) options. Get there early for outdoor seating and prepare for a line while ordering. My new go-to.

Nick Coughlin

Super cool they've got a vegan menu. Would be cool to have it sitting out next to the regular menu (or simply integrated) for everyone to see! Portion sizes are kind of small, but a pleasant experience overall.

Charlie Brown

The best place ever for wholesome food

Lauren Beck Stutzman

Love love LOVE!!! Have some family with gluten and other food sensitivities and whenever they visit MN we bring them here because I’m always confident they’ll find something delicious to eat. Every dish is a work of art, their garden out back in the summer is so lovely, and the overall atmosphere just has a great community feel to it. Always happy with a visit to Birchwood.

Taalibah Qatadah As Siddiq

Great food friendly staff excited to go back

Ann Zed

Love this place, lots of options for dietary restrictions. Delicious! Even with lots of places to sit inside, it gets busy.

Kerstin Johnson

Such a neighborhood gem! Food and coffee were terrific and the baked goods looked amazing too. I love supporting a business that is so closely tied to the farmers that grow their food. Staff and ambience were casual and friendly. Patio area was beautiful as well.

Kayla Perron

The mimosa flights are fabulous and the outside seating is beautiful.

Foccocia

The food is nice and all natural but they keep on changing the menu. Their menu is seasonal so you might like something today but won't be available next time you come. If they could make their menu consistent would be great.

Mike Schultz

Great food and friendly staff. Will come back again.

Zachary S

Amazing breakfast with excellent service and really cool vibe. Had plenty of GF options for us.

Rob Bechtel

Some of the best breakfast/brunch food I have had in a long time. Definite want to go back. I ordered the vegetable scramble and my fiance ordered the savory waffle. We were very satisfied. Personally i was not the biggest fan of the cranberry chutney on the waffle, but that was a preference thing and not a lack of quality. The scramble had some of the best eggs I have had in a long time. The bread that came with it was awesome and the Jan served with it was wonderful. Highly recommend this place. It is a tad pricey but worth it

Steven Skolasinski

Great tasting responsibility sourced food. Decent beer list.

Rob Parker

All local, organic, fresh ingredients, amazing food, very fast service. They don't take tips and instead just pay their workers more. Tucked away in a quiet neighborhood with outdoor seating and nice decor.

Mikki Desque

I had the steak and eggs; my friend enjoyed the veggie quiche. Both were quite tasty. The service was really good even though it was quite busy at brunch. The outdoor seating was quite enjoyable as well with all the wildflowers and, as long as the weather is cooperative, is highly recommend it.

Vaishnavi Soundar

Food was delicious and we went for brunch. I liked that the ingredients were locally sourced. Not many great options for vegans though, but in all fairness it's possible to check the menu online beforehand so that wouldn't be a valid complaint. The tofu scramble was particularly great! The ambience was good and the service was prompt!

Marie

Food is all locally grown and raised. But lunch was average. The staff were very friendly. Clean open atmosphere. Desserts were amazing. This is my 3rd or 4th time here. I had a salad with chicken on the side. Chicken was skin on and the dark meet had a bone sliver in it. The chicken was also a bit dry due to over cooking. If I go again it will be for breakfast. They do breakfast the best.

Kate Levinstein

First, they have delicious gluten free bread (yum!). Second, they’re super amazing and accommodating with food restrictions. Maybe not if you’re hyper-allergic (i.e. there may be cross contamination), but otherwise they’re really considerate. So much so that when I ordered I mentioned I don’t digest brown rice well, and a server came out to our table to double check I could have the bread since it had rice flour in it. It was so lovely to be cared for in that way at a restaurant. Thank you Birchwood Cafe!! Ps they have excellent teas!

Meadow Schroeder

Great atmosphere and food. A neighborhood gem!

David Carey

Very good with a variety of options and good place for kids

Pam Guthrie

One of these days I'm going to have to try something besides the savory waffle. It has bacon lardoons! I didn't even know they were a thing but they are. Real maple syrup and other tasty bits. It's so fun!

Patricia Dwyer

Busy place but good flow. Excellent food. Waffle was great, the veggie quiche was wonderful. You need to try.

Michael McDonald

Love the Birchwood. Been coming here for years and I’ll be coming back for many more. The food is delicious and there’s a lot of thought put into where it comes from. Little expensive but it’s because the ingredients are high quality.

Katey Wade

Best brunch I've had in Minneapolis so far. Mind you, I'm mostly vegan so finding brunch can be difficult. They have a couple vegan options and their oat milk matcha latte was the best matcha latte I've ever had (even with cow's milk). I'll definitely be going back to try that other vegan option.

Kyle Waites

Just so wonderful. We love sitting outside here. The tables might need a shim or 3 on the patio but if you ask for a shim they have a bucket full. Sometimes the music gets a little pumping for morning meetings but all in all a delicious fun place.

Nate B

An incredible local institution. Rotating seasonal menus for remarkable freshness. One of the best breakfast places in the Twin Cities, plus great lunches and dinners. Prices are a little high, but it's absolutely worth it. A must try!

Shawn Hanson

Food was good, but not for the price. Hamburger was under seasoned and short on sauce, but the beef was cooked perfectly and the concept was good.

Chelsie GawneMark

This is a really great place to come and be able to have a lot of food options that are healthy and dairy free. Case in point would be that lovely and moist cake you see in the picture below! The staff is really well trained and very friendly even when it's during a busy service. This is a great place for large and small groups as well as going to get work done. Excellent coffee and tea selection. I highly recommend coming here. Parking can be a little hard as it's only off street.

Lucas Madsen-Green

Food was good but eggs on 2 plates were under cooked. Quiche was also recooked too much.

Jordan Wk

Man. This place is just he best. The food is incredible. Everybody who works there is kind and welcoming and, even though it fills up quickly, you never feel like anything has taken more time than is appropriate for such delicious results. Seasonal favorites like blueberry key lime pie in the summer and savory waffles go down so well with housemade lemonade. Also, huge shout out for the Black Lives Matter sign in their front yard. That’s bold but also important.

Joel Stegner

Favorite dining place - great bread and soup.

Rita Silbernagel

High quality food, very delicious. Recommend the pastries, burger, they gave really great bread too.

Sam Hansen

Had the steak and fries. Asked for medium well and, when most places go straight to well done, this place got it perfect. Everyone in our party enjoyed their food.

Richard Erickson

Great food and atmosphere. I loved my burger and my wife loved her waffles. Hope to make it back.

Patrick Broderick

Did enjoy the food, creamy paoli, for the most part. It wasnt something ive had before, so the flavors were a little surprising, but it wasnt too bad. Service was good but the set up is unique, where you pay at the counter before you eat but most other indicators are that it's a sit down and be waited on restaurant. The prices are a bit high but there's no tipping so it evens out. It's a very cute little place.

Chris Masotti

Savory Waffle was the best waffle I’ve ever had!

Patrick Tschida

Love this place, good healthy, local food, nice liberal, progressive hang out!

Tyler Nelson

The baked good were to die for

Eva Mohr

It's been a few months since I've been here (I'm from a few states away) but I still think about how delicious that broccoli soup was. Could be a pregnant lady craving, who knows, but I'm pretty sure I had the best broccoli soup I've ever had. I hope I can come back someday! The other food was also delicious and fresh, and it's a very cute/cozy little place in a neighborhood.

Leslie Boey

Delicious and locally-sourced, this down-to-earth cafe is the perfect spot for lunch or a coffee break. Highly recommend to feel healthy, sustainable, and happy.

Phillip Addison

Great fresh tasting food... just don't go hungry...small portions

Amber Stenson

One of my favorite restaurants in MN. Amazing brunch. Great commitment to supporting local farmers. ❤️❤️❤️

Ian Mac Moore

Blueberry key lime like whoa. Great menu overall, can't go wrong. A little hoity toity, but totally worth it.

Musa Qandeel

Very nice and cozy place. We had a latte and it was really good. The cake is good there too. Nice place to meet with friends and family.

Lizabeth Kyser

I love this cafe. Gourmet casual food (is that a thing??) with counter service. Birchwood is my go-to spot to meet a friend for breakfast or lunch. Their savory waffle is always good and is their signature. It's a great spot if you have dietary restrictions, as their menu is labeled with gf, vegetarian, and vegan options. Do yourself a treat, grab a friend, get a coffee, and eat a delicious meal. And if you have a Chinook book, don't forget your coupon!!

William Campbell

Excellent food and atmosphere

jamal Coleman

Very good food. Sweet potato salad was flavorful and the Birchwood burger is great.

Michelle Araujo

Cute place, nice little patio by the street, great brunch!

rehan hanif

A deservedly popular "local" restaurant that attracts folks from near and far, they have an eclectic and delicious menu, with superlative baked goods. The service is friendly, there was a diverse set of customers and age ranges, it felt very inclusive and welcoming. I had the cornbread waffle for breakfast it was fab.

Vince Averello

Close to AirBnB plus great service and good food

Natalie VandePol

Great place, bit of a wait at 11am on a Sunday, but that's to be expected! Got the beans and rice, it was delicious. Friends got the breakfast sandwich, savory waffle, and the avocado toast. The avocado toast was incredible, bread was an inch thick, the avocado layer was a quarter inch thick, with a generous layer of sweet corn salsa, cherry tomatoes, and basil. Coffee was great too. Staff was friendly, but definitely on a mission, this place is crushing it out. Tip-free, there is a 15% charge automatically to cover staff pay. Doesn't seem to have fostered any slacking or disinterest from the staff in any regard, place runs like a very well maintained machine.

Heidi Spetzman

Food amazing as always! Just a tad expensive for going to lunch more than once in awhile. Wish it was cheaper. Excellent GF options and tasty.

Essie Anawalt

A friend and I made a list of all the breakfast/brunch spots we wanted to try out, and this was first on our list. To paint the mood: it was the day after a winter storm, the sun was out and snow was piled high, and there was only a small line (which later would get much longer). The bakery items were sooo tempting, but we managed to hold out (just barely). At our table, it took all of 5 seconds to decide on the savory waffle. This is pretty much the end of my story because nothing else matters. That waffle was the perfect punctuation mark on a great sentence and I keep thinking of going back to see if their cookbook includes the recipe. Do yourself a favor: go. I will definitely be back.

John Mitchell

Love the food and that the restaurant is situated in the middle of a neighborhood. Highly recommend.
