Good coffee. Very trendy, chic atmosphere, which my down-to-earth husband HATES. Possibly it's so fashionable that he feels unwelcome. Definitely not an atmosphere for chatting. But if you're looking for a place to do design work on your iMac, look no further.

I have never been to a more pretentious pseudo-hip coffee shop in my life. The coffee was watery and yet still managed to be undrinkably bitter. There were no interesting vibes and I felt compelled to stand as if I were in a boring contemporary art piece. The only food options were two croissants or a single chocolate bar for $7. The most redeemable feature was the free sticker which I will most likely put on my waste bin.

Coffee was good, but I didn't have a very good experience. Used to be able to park in back (for years, actually), but it doesn't work like that anymore, so it's just street parking. I don't think I got very much coffee for what I paid. I noticed that my to-go cup was about 75% full. I asked the server if I could get him a lid to put on it (lids were over on a separate table), and he said they usually don't put a lid on so customers can add cream/sugar. That's fine, but I guess we were just missing each other. I put the lid on myself

Coffee looked beautiful... But for the price we paid I expected it to taste better than Starbucks... Never imaged I could taste beans that are burned worse than Starbucks. Literally tastes like dirt. Extremely disappointed.

Enjoyed my time here after a meeting. Had a pour over that was fairly smooth without any cream or sugar (although I added a little of both), the pecan/caramel “pie” was a great addition! The environment was fairly chill and comfortable, the Bobby Womack as background was music put the icing on the cake!

Great place and great coffee. Cool style with brick walls and old wood floors. No sofas/couches. Only benches and chairs for tables and bar top; which is fine, just don't be looking to lounge on a lazy boy. Over its a great place with a chill vibe and great people. Check it out sometime.

Great espresso, and wonderful specialty beverages. I find it a bit odd, however, that they do not serve cold brew. The alternative they do offer is an iced pour-over, which I found to be very bitter. I'd like to see that change.

Stopped in on a cold Winter Saturday to grab a cup of coffee with a friend. Space is clean and very well appointed. It's a decent sized space for a coffee shop, but most seats were full, meaning there is either really good coffee, or free wifi. There was both, I'm happy to report. I had a great pour over, lots of molasses and graham cracker flavors that I really enjoyed. A top notch coffee spot.

Do you ever go to a "coffee shop" and order the same thing every time, but every time it is different? Or better yet order a latté and the milk may has well been microwaved, because it sure wasn't steamed properly! This was my life before I walked into Anelace. At Anelace you can expect consistent exceptional product and customer care. One day I told the owner he had ruined me for all other coffee shops... his reply was "no we just saved you from them." Go enjoy, you will not be disappointed.

I live almost half hour away, but it's worth the drive to just grab coffee, or even sit in and study. Probably the best coffee I've ever had- great quality. The employees are also really chill people and always get my order right. And they are always playing good music! I love it here!

Love the atmosphere of this place. A little rustic and modern at the same time. It reminds you of those loft apartments for sure with its high ceilings as well. It gets crowded sometimes during the school year but other than that, it is usually a nice quiet place. Enjoyed it much!!~

Local gem. Known for curating great coffee beans from the world over. They serve and sell Counter Culture Coffee, which distributes some of the best African coffee in the US. Reminds me of the classic coffeehouses of New York City's Lower East Side. Cozy yet spare, with unrestored, exposed, brick walls and a perfectionist's restraint in red oak booths, it can get really busy so come prepared to take it "to go".

I had a tea with a juniper flavor shot/infusion and it was amazing! I don't drink coffee so I'm always looking for more places with non-caffeinated options, and Anelace is near my home. They don't play loud annoying music and they seem to have enough outlets for us work-from-coffee-shop people.

Great shop. Eric and Caitlin are super nice and you can tell they put a lot of hard work into the shop. My cortado was great and the coffee was really well done. Clean design inside with fast wifi and a ton of seating. It'll be cool to see what roasters they bring in and where they go from here. Go check em out!

Great coffee but is really just your run of the mill new coffee shop. Subway tile, exposed brick, and sometimes rude (but good at their jobs) baristas. Good placement of outlets though for working compared to most places. Out back is next to a garbage though which makes it stink on hot days.

Kind of upscale...some would say snooty. The guy there knew coffee though. They take a very calculated approach to the flavor of their coffee, and he wasn't afraid to explain. Don't expect swift service, He "messed up" my first cup, and quickly made another that was up to his standards...and I think his standards are just fine...best coffee in the area for sure. Well worth the wait.

Very good coffee. I had an excellently made poor over, and was given a glass of sparkling water to go with it. Also, this is a small thing, but I really like that I was asked if I wanted my drink for here or to go. Too often places assume you want drinks to go if you forget to specify, and I prefer mugs to paper cups.

As far as a cafe goes, it's not unlike those you've you've already been in. What is different though is how approachable it is in comparison to a lot of other cafes. You don't have people look up from their laptops to gaze at you as you walk in. You don't feel pressured to feel as though you fit in. It's a cafe. Nothing more crazy than that. However, it's lovely. People actually go in and have coffee and talk instead of being face down in a laptop and using it as a free-ish work space like a lot of cafes have to fight with. It's tall, and bright. With a nice sitting area out back. Now, let's get to coffee, since you're here to read a review about a cafe, after all. I had an espresso, which it seems a lot of places around town struggle to do well. This was vibrant. Nutty. Creamy. And not scalding hot. It was a perfect temperature for immediate sipping. It was a good way to spend some time sitting while reading in a friendly cafe. I highly recommend the trip over to grab a cup of joe and read a book, or talk with a friend.

I'm honestly always surprised to see this place not packed full. Probably one of the best coffee shops in the cities. Starting it off right with counter culture, only shop here that carries them now that Blue Ox doesn't, and giving a solid menu of simple espresso based drinks and coffee. I've had multiple shots and cups here and it alway seems consistent. Nice CLEAN interior with a friendly staff. I'd love to see more people here.

Way better than Spyhouse down the street and you don't feel like you need to bring your typewriter with you when you go. They don't even do any drip coffees - the pour over is the cheapest and fastest and every one I've had is incredible. They rotate their roasts often.

Love their coffee - it's subtle and flavorful. I appreciate the pour over technique used, and the coffee choices available. The almond milk latte taste like my grandma's butterscotch chewy candy (in a good way). I haven't seen a Cortado on a menu since I left Florida. My husband who likes the extremely bitter/burnt taste that some styles offer is not a huge fan of Anelace, but they do offer some pretty tasty pastries. Also, the baristas are good at their jobs and very friendly. The space is beautiful - love the high ceilings and lighting. The prices are reasonable. I almost wish this place would stay open at night and offer beer & wine - I bet they'd nail that too.

It was fantastic coffee in a very calm atmosphere. The whole shop has a nice relaxing vibe. Their pastries are sublime and the coffee I had was grade A. It was $3 for a black coffee with nothing in it, and the quality of the coffee was far beyond what I was expecting. It was rich and went down very smooth. They serve sparkling water or regular water with your coffee also. I personally would love to go there more often if it wasn't so far from where I live.

My husband and I came in to experience the ambiance of a coffee shop. We were so disappointed. We felt very unwelcome. We felt pushed out and left. We aren't ones to be picky, but we were so disappointed with service and product. Especially after spending so much for a basic cup of coffee. Dont recommend. Would much rather go to a chain if we were going to deal with that service for as much as we spent.

Upon trying to order a mocha with a flavored shot, I was told they didn't have what I requested, but they had Cardamon or Vanilla. Wanting neither of those options, Opie said if we don't have what you like go some place else. WHAT? ARE YOU SERIOUS?? Nice way to get a new customer. He proceeded to tell me they were coffee centric, so I ordered a $3.00 black coffee. The worst coffee I have ever drank. Folgers is better

Great, artisanal third wave coffee shop in a previously underserved area! A comparable experience to Dogwood, Five Watt, or other high end roasters in the Columbia Heights neighborhood. If you like single origin coffee and minimalist decor I'd definitely recommend it.

It's a good place to sit down and get some work/studying done. It's very, very quiet even when it's packed - it really reminds me of a library. The ambiance is also very inviting yet very minimalist - tables, chairs, bar...that's about it. Although I like the place itself, I'm giving it 3 stars because I honestly cannot recommend anything on the menu except maybe the latte (depending on who is making it). The prices are very steep for the quality with an average price of around $4.75 for a cup of hot tea and $4.50 for a cup of coffee (latte, black, etc.). If you are looking for a quiet place to study, this place is it, but, you are looking a for a bit of wow factor, there are plenty of other fish in the sea.

Popped in here after spending a Sunday afternoon at a nearby brewery. As someone who works at home, I'm so happy I discovered this gorgeous spot, because it looks like the perfect place to settle in and get some work done! It's open and spacious, with lots of natural sunlight, wooden tables, and tin ceiling - all adding up to fantastic ambiance. I got a chocolate croissant (flaky and delicious!) and a latte to go. Coffee was amazing, and the barista was so sweet and friendly. Can't wait to get back here!

Consistently good coffee. I prefer their pour overs to their espresso and i am not sold on their iced coffee (this is why 4 stars not 5). Parking is difficult (no clear signage in back) but if you travel by bike there are plenty of racks on Central. Very nice atmosphere inside, never too loud, even when busy.

It's always so refreshing to hop into Anelace and grab a drink! The staff is very friendly and will make sure you're served well! It's worth noting though that sometimes it gets insanely busy and you will sometimes just need to stand around, but it's not too bad. Also try the lemonade coffee!
