REVIEWS OF Alma IN Minnesota

Tony B

Definitely Go! Ate on cafe side. Did Sunday 3 Course Price Fix Menu. All items were fresh, unique and delicious. Helpings were not small but not large, slightly less than average plated quantity.

Mary Marchan

Food is creative and tasteful, and staff is friendly and attentive.

Randy Jackson

A friend and I recently dined at Cafe Alma (distinct from Restaurant Alma). Delicious salmon and house-made rigatoni (pasta included). The best part of the evening though was the service. Our server Emily was professional / hipster, knowledgeable about the food and very proud of the Cafe and all it offers. I'd recommend Cafe Alma and asking to be served by Emily.

After explaining that I was suffering a dizzy spell from giving blood earlier in the afternoon, Jen the inn keeper told me I needed to “clear out” while I was waiting for an Uber to take to home to recover. I live just around the corner so I’ve eaten at the Alma a few times, however knowing that such an insensitive and unprofessional person runs the daily operations, I won’t be back.

Mike Anderson

Delicious menu with great wine pairings. The staff is very attentive and helpful.

Nick Morison

Great happy hour 7 days a week at the cafe. Get a beer or fancy cocktail if that's your thing and enjoy some apps. Grab a loaf of bread for at home because those are delicious and on sale during happy hour too.

Kayla Castro

Amazing cocktails and cauliflower!

Joseph Vasquez

Amazing food. Lovely owners! Every item on the menu is was perfection.

Liz Danielson

Alma offers a delicious, innovative menu and good service. A perfect special occasion place, but affordable enough to go there for any reason.

Chris Otto

Good cocktails and great patio.

Brian Blodgett

Did the chefs 5 course tasting. Was excellent, nice small portions of many different items, wine pair with tasting was solid.

Ryan Bolduan

Both the Restaurant and Cafe are wonderful. The tasting menu on the restaurant side is both elegant and modern. A perfect place to go for that special date. The Cafe side is also wonderful; a more casual and relaxed atmosphere with fresh seasonal food. The brunch is particularly good, but don't think you can walk up - a reservation is a must.

Jasmine Vo

Was just here last night with my boyfriend and friend. The foods and drinks was delicious. Quality of the food was good. The king crab taste fresh and the burger wasn’t greasy. We left full but still felt light with energy. Our server was also nice and attentive.

Amie Michels

Fabulous wine, they handled our late private party well. Yummy food. Friendly, knowledgeable staff

Great food & great service !! Amazing fried chicken sandwich

dansmiles

Spendy breakfast cafe with a great vibe, friendly staff, and phenomenal coffee. Only complaint is that the bloody marys were quite petite.

Jim McClarty

Service was great. Some of the dishes were great. Others were good. I liked the atmosphere.

Jerry Yang

Was great. Good vibe, great atmosphere and the food was very good. I recommend everyone to try it once.

Linda McLoon

Lovely little slice of Minneapolis history along the Mississippi River. An oasis of calm at the base of the Stone Arch Bridge!

Vincent Bernet

The fried cauliflower was amazing. Though it has jalapeno peppers, it was not hot. They do a thorough job of seeding the peppers. The Sorghum Old Fashioned was also excellent.

Denise Mueffelman

Alma Restaurant - WAY too spendy for my taste. We dined there for a special occasion. While I thought the food was good, the service was fine, and the ambiance okay, it wasn't exceptional. Which is what I do expect for the prices we paid. Glad we did it, but definitely don't need to go back.

Christian Freeman

Of the several times we have been, this was the best this far.

Gene Di Lorenzo

Best and most reliable dining experience in Minneapolis.

Mike Hoschka

Alma’s Thursday night burger was one of the best in the Twin Cities. Was! What separated their version of the popular 2 patty burgers offered by the others that make the top 5 list was their bun. More like a croissant actually so buttery , soft and delicious. Unfortunately they made the decision to change the bun just a couple weeks ago. I won’t be going back anytime soon for the Thursday Burger unfortunately. I will add that Alma has fantastic food across the entire menu.

Amanda Supak

Come for an amazing dining experience! The quality of the food is so fresh, and clearly created with care and expertise. The staff is very attentive. The bottom of the menu states that they receive medical and retirement benifits! Everything about this place exudes care for the food and the staff.

Jennifer Dumdei

Food was good but the wine pairing was not as expected. Overall really expensive for what you get. Not my favorite spot.

Josephine Walsh

This Aldi is definitely hood. I say that because there's always something going on and the side conversations are hilarious. I'm usually on the phone with my girl V. when shopping here, so we're laughing it up big time based on what I'm hearing and seeing.

Hassan Daoud

The Lamb burger is one of the best burgers I've ever had. I've had many Lamb burgers and come from a culture where lamb is used in many dishes and this burger competes with some of the best lamb barbecues I've had back home. A MUST!

Rose Hyson

Always a great place for a beverage, snacks, and conversation. It switches over to a more cocktail bar feel at around 4:30, which is also fun!

Bernie Dodge

Small tasty plates. A little loud for conversation but not nearly as bad as most places today.

Robert Kelen

After 20 years, they're still doing great things at Alma. Our dinner was excellent.

Wm Curtis Szabo

One of the best valued HHs in town.

Stewart Smith

What a wonderful 3 course meal. Do the wine paring.

Sanchit Bhat

The ambience if the restaurant and store is fantastic. The deli looks and smells wonderful and is filled with delicacies both old and new.

Chris Leaf

Phenomenal service and simply exquisite food. Great place for our wedding anniversary celebration!

David Lindahl

Fantastic food and superb service. Top notch. Not too excited about the added 3% for employee health care.

Andrew McElligott

Great food and amazing cocktails.

Jeanine Nelson

A friend and I recently dined at Cafe Alma (distinct from Restaurant Alma). Delicious salmon and house-made rigatoni (pasta included). The best part of the evening though was the service. Our server Emily was professional / hipster, knowledgeable about the food and very proud of the Cafe and all it offers. I'd recommend Cafe Alma and asking to be served by Emily.

Avery Hamilton

They were SOOOOOOO nice!! Yummy oat milk.

The Boy Named SuZi

Come here every year to celebrate my wife proposing marriage to me. Food is amazing, staff is friendly, knowledgeable and not judgemental. I would post photos, but my phone's pictures don't do the food Justice.

Robin Edgerton

Love the food. Food flavor combinations and pairings exceptional. Presented artistically. Atmosphere urban chic. Choose this for special occasions.

Ryan C. Van Wyk

Stellar!! Restaurant Alma is a fantastic dining experience. Our server Jesse brought a wonderful, unhurried, warm approach, describing the dishes, paired wines, and cocktails with a sense of intimacy and delight. The menu consists of set of four options for each layer of a three course prix fixe menu. Every dish sounded great. Each of the dishes selected by my wife and I was deliciously and uniquely full of flavor. My wife opted for the wine pairings, while I enjoyed several of the seasonal cocktails. Excellent selection of wines to complement the dishes and uniquely takes on some standard cocktails. This is definitely the sort of restaurant that you go to enjoy a meal as an experience, taking your time and enjoying each course. Bread and butter was served initially as well as a small bite of dessert at the end. Looking forward to returning as the menu changes with the seasons!

Tamella Hajiyeva

Minneapolis is getting more and more places with a very cute ambiance and very good food. I really love this place. They have great selection and you order your food right at the counter which makes the process a bit faster.

joshua-taylor

i came to Alma for my birthday dinner this year and had a fantastic experience. i ate in the café side. to start, the environment was modern and clean. my group sat at the bar because it was so busy that we couldn’t get a table but we’re still comfortable. our server/bartender was amazing!! he was helpful, charismatic and funny— basically everything you’d want in a good server. and the FOOD was amazing. i tried the lamb burger and it was delicious!!! it was so good that i forgot to take a picture of it

Earl Gesling

Service here is at the highest level! True service not pretentious or snobby. Food is amazing as well. Bakery in the cafe, desserts are perfectly balanced. Cocktails are a must! Favorite restaurant in the cities!

Ian Allen

Whether you are visiting the Cafe or the Restaurant, you are guaranteed an exceptional time. I’ve come to the cafe a few times for work and have always enjoyed the friendly service. I recently stopped by for a happy hour with a friend and was impressed by the the offerings—1/2 off wine, beer, cocktails, and apps. We shared the smoked fish platter, antipasti platter, and the ricotta appetizer and all three were well prepared and delicious. At half off it was a great deal as well! I realized it’s been 3 years since my last visit to the restaurant, but I still remember it as a very special evening—I’m hoping to get back soon! There’s a reason Alma has been around for a long time and they’re always busy—this is a star location in the Minneapolis restaurant scene. If you go for dinner you’re guaranteed a culinary adventure, but in my mind you also can’t beat a great happy hour followed by a walk along the river. Highly, highly recommend!

James Grommersch

Great place for date night.

Jessica A

Loved the food. Great atmosphere. Went there for the first time and would recommend to anyone visiting!

laura hauser

Wow this brunch was great. We had the Monty and the other breakfast sandwich. They were both incredible. I would definitely recommend the Alma Cafe. They have incredible breakfast potatoes. I would love to go back and try some of their cocktails.

Gjerda RhodeHumphries

always perfect, I probably go once a week

Corinne Steffens

Delicious! Great brunch! Cute space.

Lori Johnson

Very nice! Great food! I could of eaten more!

Alfred Treleven

Service was a great balance of being helpful and leaving us to our conversation. Food was imaginative, beautifully presented and tasted fantastic.

Will Matthews

I can't say enough good thing about this place. Staff in both the bar/cafe and restaurant were on their A game. We had a show to catch and only about an hour to eat and they totally had our back and kept things moving! Food was amazing cooked. We had appetizers over in the bad. Smoked Fish and Cheese plate were excellent. Best happy hour pricing in Minneapolis when looking at the quality/cost ratio. Sure, you might find cheaper, but the quality here was THROUGH the roof. The tasting menu at the table was the bomb. My only complaint is that WE ran out of time and couldn't eat dessert. Great upscale experience, reasonably priced for the quality, and would go there again. Thank you to Team Alma!

Gregory Schlee

Wonderful menu and delicious food. The service was impeccable and the ambiance was very inviting.

Dana Murphy

Ate here for my birthday tonight and I was very impressed with the food and service. I ordered the arugula and plum salad, mung bean pancakes, and the halibut - every course was perfectly done and presented nicely. Our server also gave us two bite size desserts as a birthday treat and they were delicious! Great food, service, and overall experience!

Ellen Dean

We come here frequently - both the restaurant and the café side. Always enjoy the locally-sourced food, the atmosphere, the friendly service, knowing also that they treat their staff with dignity and respect. We had a pleasant evening at Alma, which has come a long way from the time it felt like a neighborhood place. It's an attractive dining area with excellent space between tables and two-tops which are actually large enough to hold the meal. The food ranged from excellent to pretty good, though nothing was especially memorable. Best were a duck liver course and a duck breast one (though the latter did not show much impact of a sauce).

Travis W

Just had the cafe/coffee part. AMAZBALLS!!! You'd pay same/more than this @ a chain coffee shop. May I suggest the plain coffee, bone broth, and the chocolate, croissant for breakfast??.... Stay till at least 10am to get the fresh made bread. I can't wait to hit the restaurant part!

Paul Fischer

We have gone here the last two years to celebrate our anniversary, and will be going back again next year. The food and service is excellent, and the way the menu rotates with the various choices for each course ensures anyone can create an amazing dining experience. The staff's knowledge of the various options is impressive and helpful. Cannot say enough great things about it!

Danny Horan

Consistently one of the best restaurants in the Twin Cities. Fixed three course menu (you choose one dish from each course). Great range of menu items that change pretty consistently with the seasons. Portion size is perfect and you leave full but not stuffed. I've been more than a dozen time and have always had amazing service. Great wine list (both by the glass and by the bottle). Has a boutique hotel upstairs with a few beautifully designed rooms.

ron heichert

Always great food and drinks. Brought a friend from NYC recently who loved it. You can't go wrong here.

Charlie Tsai

Friendly staffs. Delicious, flavorful foods. Coffee was just okay, though. Overall very nice, would like to come again!

Valerie Lemaine

Perfect evening to celebrate a birthday with friends. Excellent meal, for vegans and non vegans alike!

Chase Nelson

I stopped into the Alma cafe for happy hour and loved everything I had. I'd only been to the course meal side of the business but I thoroughly enjoyed the more casual setting. Todd was super friendly and showed me around while I waited for a spot. I highly recommend stopping by.

Khushboo Shakya

Good place. Good for brunches. Alma has a cafe and a restaurant. The restaurant I believe is only open for dinner and is more formal while cafe is more relaxed and casual. Has a nice bar area as well.

Can Özütemiz

Extremely overrated. You pay for bread and olive oil which should be free as an appetizer as soon as you sit in a table. The butter they use is extremely salty. The potato chips were extremely salty with a vinegar on it. Each meal comes about in 30 minutes. The portions are small. The duck with fries should be the fries with the duck.

Sasha waxman

Amazing food, atmosphere, and service. Delicious dessert especially. Enjoyed immensely.

John Aune

Always an incredible dining experience.

Roman Loy

This place never disappoints. Great service, food and atmosphere.

Raddie Ruple

After hearing a good deal about Alma, we were not disappointed. We opted for the cafe, which was a great choice for informal a la carte choices. The space is bright and has a welcoming feel, comfortable and unfancy. Service was outstanding, very friendly and upbeat, with a good knowledge of the food and wine.

Patrick Kelly

I've never had a less than perfect experience at Alma. Everybody takes really good care to make sure everything is just right. The Grilled Linkert Rye Bread is super fresh tasting. The cafe has the best steak and eggs for brunch.

Richard Moser

Just stopped for a coffee and pastry which were really good. The lunch items that passed by looked very good!

LGC

Very polite staff, and absolutely amazing Brunch! I went for a casual business meeting and was impressed with the feel and environment they had at Alma. It was a tad cold in there so I just kept my jacket on, but I suppose that helps stop customers from lingering. Ha. Overall, great food, nice environment, and kind staff. I would be interested to try their dinner, and drinks available in the future.

Frances Ruiz

Nice atmosphere, lots of healthy choices on the menu!

Harriet Om.

Summer time offers patio sitting which I absolutely enjoyed. I have eaten in their cafe area which was as refreshing. Hype/classy and artsy kinda crowd. Courteous service and one of a kind curated drinks. I love their coconut chocolate macaroons. Cant wait to visit their fine dinning restaurant.

Grace Cassel

One of the best in Minneapolis. A+ service, food and drinks

Annamarie Baumler

Alma is always busy and generally has very high quality food & coffee, the reason I took away a star is because I feel like the coffee is pretty hit or miss.

Garek Berard

I have eaten at the cafe for dinner many times and I have enjoyed each experience. The food is really quality, their house made ricotta is too good. I love the cocktails and it is great to end a meal with a quality cappuccino. I highly recommend checking it out.

Emerald Frog

I stopped at the cafe side around four this past weekend. Unfortunately the hot chocolate was cold both times they made it and was just chocolate syrup hastily stirred into steamed milk. I expected more from alma. I used to work at a cafe so potentially I am being too picky. The staff ignored my partners question about when their menus change and generally ignored our presence. Very disappointed since I had heard great things.

Larry Schmitz

The go to restaurant for people who actually, have good taste in food.

Corey Helland

Last weekend we went to Restaurant Alma for a special date night. We had been there 3-4 times before, but this was the first time in several years. Once again it exceeded our expectations!! We went all-in on the tasting menu and wine pairings, plus appetizer, dessert, and coffee. Perfect service and food end-to-end. Unless you're not wine drinker, I HIGHLY recommend the wine pairing. It's a good pour and really does add a lot to the flavors and overall experience. 100% worth the extra cost. Thank you Alma for another great night! We'll be back again soon!!

Wesley Miles

Great food and coffee. Bloody Mary was good but too small, otherwise this would be easy 5 stars.

Doug Topping

We had a wonderful dinner at Alma on the cafe side. We almost missed this place as the website only shows the 3 course menu and we wanted something a bit lighter. The restaurant / hotel has a separate more formal dining area, and a lively cafe side. We started with the crispy cauliflower which was reminiscent of calamari with a slightly spicy bite from the crispy jalapeño slices which were balanced by lightly fried mint leaves, sesame

Andrea Harris McGee

Fresh and warm on a cold morning. I stumbled into what I was told was a great breakfast restaurant on my first day in Minnesota. I was to early for full brunch. They start at 9am on Saturday, but I chose something yummy to fill me up. The food is really good. Blueberry vanilla danish is so good it will make me travel back again. Found out they have a hotel here as well. Highly recommend this chic but casual space.

Benjamin Hubert

Food was very expensive for what you get and the service was average. I don't agree with them charging an extra fee to offer their employees healthcare and benefits as a separate line item charge. It is my opinion that that should be baked into the item prices. It was also very loud but that was the fault of other patrons and not the staff.

Charles Zee

The prix fixe menu for the price on Sunday is very reasonable, $33 for a 3 course dinner. However, I found the service quite slow.

Rod Dirks

Alma Cafe was a great spot for an early morning pastry. Loved the decor, but the pastries were incredible! Will definitely make this a regular stop when we're in town!

Ludvig Stone

This is my favorite restaurant in Minneapolis. Their 3 course meals were phenomenal and the 2014 wine from Oregon and the 2014 wine from Spain complimented the meal well for the 4 of us.This is my favorite restaurant in Minneapolis.

Alyssa Hernandez

Ate at the cafe and loved it. The food is great. I didn't actually try any of the cocktails, but my friends enjoyed theirs. Parking is tough, and we had to walk a few blocks. Highly recommend the whitefish salad appetizer. Great food! Portions were a little small, so I would recommend getting apps and dessert (or just ordering a side like a normal person?).

Regina Hernandez

We started with Latte's that were delightful and beautifully made. We ordered the Morty Egg Sandwich and substituted for a biscuit instead of an English muffin. The crispy potatoes that it comes with are sooo good! Great flavor and crunch. We also ordered the Baked Egg Strata with a side of avocado and oh my that was tasty. They have small portions but it was nice to not leave brunch super full. No nap needed afterwards ;) The downside to our experience was the service. Our server was not friendly and seemed to rush us out. Even the people who brought our dishes out were cold. Despite the bad service, we will be back because we love the food!

Molly Newport

Great food, great people!

Dan DeGraw

Deliciously crafted food in a very chill atmosphere.

Britt

Absolutely wonderful meal, excellent service. Great value for money. Highly recommend coming here for dinner.

Taylor Jazo

Food was delicious and wine pairing was spot on! Great service as well! Highly recommend!

Salman Sadiq

Went for restaurant week. 3 course meal was amazing and had excellent service. Can't rate this place any higher. Only a handful of places in Minneapolis come even close to the level of service here.

Jay Nelson

Needed change, they were very helpful. While I waited, I checked out environment it was poppin. Staff was a 10, nice had there own style. My hero academia official sponsor. I WILL BE BACK. Your on my radar.

Tiffany Cannon

I chose this restaurant for my 40th birthday and I was extremely disappointed. Not a single dish stood out enough to make me want to return. I had the shaved cured pork for my first dish and it wasn’t anything special. I felt I could easily recreate this at home but I wouldn’t want to. My second dish was the Swiss chard rotolo. Once again, I was disappointed. It was dry. The final course was 12 hour braised beef. It was extremely tender but very salty. The dessert,a dark chocolate torte, was the best part of the meal, and I would definitely order it again. However, this meal did not leave me with the desire to return. A $200 meal shouldn’t be a huge disappointment.

Rachel Herr

From start to finish, we could not have had a better experience at Cafe Alma! Every bite was perfectly prepared and offered in an atmosphere that felt both classy and welcoming. Our server was excellent and we will definitely be back!

Tom Silver

Food was delicious but small child size portions! Pasta dish was about 6 oz at the most & wife's salmon dish was maybe 6 oz. We're not big eaters but this was the smallest portion size we can ever remember getting at a restaurant! Also very noisy & hard to carry on a conversation over dinner.

Justin Davies

Absolutely love this place. The environment was friendly and welcoming.Definitely the best restaurant!Good atmosphere.

Derek Caplan

Great brunch, solid service and interesting selections. The cold brew smoothie is a mix of flavors you might think don't work well together, but it will definitely surprise you.

Amy Esposito

Cute place, great for friends, meetings, breakfast, or just coffee. Easy walk from the 10th Avenue bridge.

Sharon Dean

Definitely the best restaurant! Good atmosphere, attentive staff, tasty food and a great menu. Awesome!

summertime senju

Amazing great service and very nice staff

Davis Turner

Each "course" was very delicious and did not disappoint. However, it took 45 minutes between each course, and including dessert and the time before ordering, the whole experience for a party of four took close to three hours! People in larger parties sitting around us were out before us.

Sheryce Cook

This was a top notch culinary and service experience! From our waitress to the many hands that provided service to our table, the service was friendly, efficient and patron-centered. We felt cared-for the entire night. And the food? Creative, unbelievably thoughtful and balanced, an OMG with every bite, and stunningly beautiful! Thank you, chefs! The wine pairings were masterful- the kind of pairings that keep you taking a bite and then a sip and then a bite....and then so sad when both the food and the wine are gone (but so grateful for the experience!) This was an unforgettable evening that, for us, ranks up there with the best.

Claudia Chen

I ordered the miso salmon for dinner. The portion was so pathetically small, it could be eaten in 3 bites. The flavor was only average, and rather salty. I can’t believe they can get away with charging $21 for this. When I told the waitress I was disappointed with my dinner, she gave me a box with a complimentary croissant. Cheap service. I’ll never come back.

Cindy White

Very impressive operation from top to bottom. Staff was very helpful and you could tell they were having fun. Clean, well priced, couldn't be more impressed.

Jemma Hanson

Alma's has great food, teas, drinks and atmosphere. I was very impressed and would highly recommend you trying one of there desserts. It's a bit expensive but its worth the trip.

cmonnowsmile66

Great coffee, great brunch and a great spot for a neighborhood cafe.

biggyjrc

We celebrated our 5 year anniversary tonight....Laurie was superb! The entire experience from beginning to end was spectacular! Amazing food and wine selection galore! We were seated right by the kitchen so we could see all the magic happening! The passion in the kitchen was unbelievable and it showed! Amazing job and thank you for the amazing experience!

Jeanne Garry

Awesome food, great cocktails, great neighborhood! Parking was free and easy!

Garry Leuning

Good food but spendy

Elizabeth Ong'era

Inattentive waiter who served us wrong order but we took it just to be nice. Cramped space, and no menu variety.

William Ramaekers

The first time I came here I was very impressed. Second time was really underwhelming. I had to send back burnt toast and over cooked bacon. The meal was not very satisfying, I got the soft eggs and it was literally just scrambled eggs with some cream. The crispy potatoes and house made tonic are staple treats. It seems like a lot of items are hit or miss which is tough when the menu is very nondescript.

Sandy Archer A. Baker

With a sophisticated and full of flavors menu, great service and cozy dinning rooms, Alma was definitely our favorite experience in the twin cities since we moved here 2 year ago! Definitely recommend it! You won’t regret it!

Harold Morris

I was looking for breakfast at 9 in the morning. The polished definitely did not give me Southern hospitality! As far as she was concerned I didn't have a reservation so I must be a piece of garbage. I left the place very fast never to go back again.

Leigh Golemgeske

called ahead, very helpful with food restrictions.

Christina Lopez-Jensen

Cafe Alma is our absolute favorite happy hour spot in the metro. The food is always fantastic and we love the rotating and signature cocktails. I recommend sitting at the bar because the bartenders are the best!

Matt Dow

A more casual version of the lovely restaurant next door. Great food, cocktails, and wine. Beer selection is a little thin, but they enough options to pair with whatever you'd order. The crispy smashed potatoes are dangerously tasty!

Dustin Collicott

Literally everything here tasted great. Excellent wine pairings to complete each course. Our sever Laurie was friendly, knowledgeable, and prompt.

Jan Griffin

A friend and I recently dined at Cafe Alma (distinct from Restaurant Alma). Delicious salmon and house-made rigatoni (pasta included). The best part of the evening though was the service. Our server Emily was professional / hipster, knowledgeable about the food and very proud of the Cafe and all it offers. I'd recommend Cafe Alma and asking to be served by Emily.

bc84

We had lunch there during a visit, it was recommended to us by a friend from Minneapolis. We were not disappointed. There was a long waiting time so we decided to eat at the bar. Waiters were friendly and very useful. The food was great and the coffee was good.

JuIi Felix

The first time I went to Alma I had an exceptional experience. The bartender was our waiter and he did an amazing job. My partner and I were celebrating Valentine’s Day. Sadly, the second time around was underwhelming. To start, we got seated in a table right in the middle of the floor. It was crowded and when we asked our waitress if we could move to a different table she was visibly annoyed. She then came back and told us the table we wanted was reserved. We’re vegan so we had the exact same menu as we did the first time. This time IT TOOK 1 HOUR TO GET 2 COURSES. Meanwhile, there was about 8 servers/busers just standing right in front of us just talking amongst themselves (barely working). I used to be a waitress back in the day and I understand the social part of the job... but when I’m being surrounded by people and I need a salt shaker and no one comes and check on me... there’s a problem. Our waitress was super busy with an annex room that had some sort of private party. She was MIA for the first hour. The pear salad was just OK. The grilled bread was amazing and the saffron rice was incredible too. The sorbet was OK, I wish there were more substantial vegan desserts if it’s going to be a $100 meal. Sorbet is like $4 for a pint at the co-op. I told my partner “out waitress literally hates me”. From us wanting to move tables, to me asking where our 3rd course was, to having to ask for a fresh napkin when I spilled water. It was just bad vibes all around. Also (not the restaurants fault) but the reason we wanted to change tables was because there was a loud child next to us. Overall the dinner was 2 full hours, it was crowded, food was hit or miss, and the ambiance was awful. Our waitress probably still hates me :)

Jeff Fellows

Cafe with wonderful edgy kitchen. Excessively loud soundtrack better suited for prep time. Served old coffee stored in carafes. Time for new manager?

Kuang-Sheng Cheng

If you want to have the most exquisite dining experience and a good place to show your generosity and philanthropy, don't miss this Restaurant. The portion of the meal is meticulously small, and the taste is thoughtfully salty to help you drink more water to fill up your hungry stomach. And the extremely long waiting time demonstrates their sincerity in serving you the foods that are painstakingly prepared to win your appreciation when the petite food finally shows up on your table. Last but not the least, a 3% donation to the health insurance of their employees ensures that your food will always be prepared by the most healthy and sanitized kitchen professionals. What a great restaurant and truly a 5 star place it is!

Tony Wickland

Quaint / goog service / good food

David Rust

Truly high class dining. Alma is one of those establishments that excels at a small yet intricate menu! I cannot accentuate enough the degrees by which this restaurant exceeded my every expectation. From the opening course of an amazing soup to the lovely coconut sherbet served as a palate cleanser, there were constant, pleasant surprises coming to our table as I sat in one of the most comfortable and relaxing establishments I've ever had the pleasure to visit!

Jessie Russell

A friend and I recently dined at Cafe Alma (distinct from Restaurant Alma). Delicious salmon and house-made rigatoni (pasta included). The best part of the evening though was the service. Our server Emily was professional / hipster, knowledgeable about the food and very proud of the Cafe and all it offers. I'd recommend Cafe Alma and asking to be served by Emily.

Lisa Cook

Everything about Alma was wonderful! The service, impeccable. The food, delicious! The cocktails, divine. I'll definitely be back.

Angela Martino

Always amazing I’ve been going here for several years never had a bad experience or tried something I didn’t like.

Ryan Murray

Great service. Very friendly. Cool atmosphere. For came out at a perfect rate. All and all very nice

Terry Walsh

Antipasta snack lunch looked awesome. The coffee was great that's all I had this time...

Marwan Mohammed

I had a brunch last week-end. Just amazing and so tasty. It was my first time in Minneapolis and at Alma Cafe. Cozy design, warm and friendly team. Special mention for Anne-Sophie, the French waitress. She was perfect !

Katie

Breakfast sandwiches are great! The potatoes that come on the side are super crispy and well seasoned. The veggie biscuit option is perfect for someone who doesn't eat pork.

Kelly Kohler

What a wonderful experience! Came here for a birthday dinner with my boyfriend and got to try so many delicious drinks and foods that I've never tried before! This restaurant is more of a destination than a place to simply get dinner. The service is spectacular, the restaurant is beautiful, and the drinks are tasty and unique. The food was also to die for and the only complaint I had was that I wish there was MORE food to eat! I can't wait to come back!

elisabeth oh

suburb service and really creative menu. i’m not an exploratory taster but the pot roast was so rich and well cooked. five stars, especially for the service!

Angelique Dahlberg

I had dinner and drinks with a friend here on a Wednesday evening. It was very lively, the waitstaff was excellent, and the food was good. We both got - and loved - the lamb burger. I bought the rigatoni to bring home to my husband, and he loved it as leftovers. The lighting was dim, so if you have vision problems be ready to use your phone as a flashlight. There were limited regular chair seating options, too, so if you aren’t comfortable on a high stool, make a reservation.
