This Coffee Shop corresponds to the category of Restaurant.
Great vegetarian and vegan options. You have to try the grilled cheese with tomato soup. The grilled cheese is a three cheese blend (not your typical Kraft cheese either) on ciabatta.
really terrific. always terrific. great people. great food. great owner. great bartenders. best sports bar in metro-detroit.
Ι loved this place. The pastries, the coffee and the atmosphere, everything was awesome!
Really diverse menu, great breakfast and lunch items. I had the BLT +egg sandwich which was fantastic, if a little messy. Side salad had great dressing and the outdoor seating was shaded. Great lunch.
The food are very healthy and tasty. The coffee is amazing too!
Highly recommend, amazing dining experience
Try the lemon blueberries pancakes!
Great spot for coffee or brunch!
Amazing food and drinks! Love the natural light that pours in
Very good food and ambiance
Simply the best place for brunch on Woodward Ave.
Really nice staff. Great food. A little pricey, but worth it!
It's always super budy and kind of expensive but if you order something to go it comes out fairly quick. The food and coffee is also super good so you get what you pay for.
Foods not bad, relatively expensive for what it is though
I cannot speak to the coffee as I did not have one, I only at lunch there. The space is very nice and airy. I had the Mediterranean salad, which was extremely ordinary and served with three stale triangles of pita bread. That and a San Pelligrino soda cost me $13.00. If the salad were really good, that would be one thing, but it was quite mediocre and consisted of mostly greens, stingy on the add-ins. I don't think I'll be back.
Food is very good, if not a bit on the expensive side. The place is a little louder. Tables are nice. Definitely a casual place
Our #alphabetbrunch took us into Birmingham and to this bright, trendy brunch house. While the ambiance is comfortable, their food was appealing but bland. The Caprese Omelette was fresh and filling. The Quinoa Breakfast Bowl wasn't bad, but was disappointingly boring. Would definitely benefit from some more flavor. Try it with some Sriracha! Fortunately, their coffee was excellent. We got lucky and didn't wait long at this popular, casual spot. Overall this was a middle of the road brunch experience for us.
This reminds me of a little West-Coast in Birmingham, but it misses by a long shot. A decent coffee shop, the croissants are normally too dry for me. No easy parking, and the high prices would be justified but there are no organic, fair-trade selections. As usual, Birmingham lacks progressive choices in cafe's and foods. I prefer to drive down to Bean and Leaf in Royal Oak, even though I live in Birmingham and can walk to ten different coffee shops here.
Food was good atmosphere was not up tight
last 3 times i went on a sunday they are out of lemon/blueberry pancakes. This past week we made an effort to get there at 930am and they said they where out again.
The food looked beautiful but didn't actually taste all that great. Atmosphere is very cool, huge windows in front let in a lot of light. Pleasant place to have an afternoon snack.
Best time to go is 10am if you don’t wanna hit the hungry crowd. Everything tastes great and fresh
Quiet place to meet.
Food is great. (The chai tea is amazing) It has a fun atmosphere to it. Only problem is it is a tad pricey but it really isn't too bad. Great place.
Think I like coming here for the ambiance and chill vibes rather than actual food. Although their lunch is pretty good!! Recommend the Goat Cheese Quiche, Grilled Cheese & Tomato Soup. Assorted goods, aesthetic chocolate bars, and DROUGHT market juices are available. Talk about choices galore!
Nice place great coffee and good food
Hip atmosphere, good food, great coffee.
California-esque vibes with nice food, coffee, etc. Worth an occasional drive from Ann Arbor to come here. Weekend eat-in can have a long wait so get there early.
Great coffee, with outdoor seating weather permitting. It’s always busy with a great team. They close early in the afternoon. It’s not the cheapest place but you get good quality for your money.
One my my favorite places to eat. Period. Their meals are very healthy and they have amazing coffee. Staff is very polite.
Sooo good for a healthy brunch meal. Theres usually a wait, but its totally worth it
Scrumptious food.
Poor interior design, waste of space & inconvenient ordering and payment mrthod. Small portion oily and low quality food. Unsatisfactory service. Overpriced coffee... we went there as a group of 8 friends for brunch first they offered us two coaches & a coffee table to sit all of us then they separated us into two tables in two different side of the room salad was just out of bag spring mix with a ladle of oil on it. Coffee was bad and cost about $5. Waitress just mixed our orders and didn't even come close to our table once... one of the worst experiences for me in metro Detroit cafes
Great food. Even better that they have gluten free options for breakfast
The food was excellent! The service was very fast and the staff was professional.
Always great coffee and warm atmosphere.
Great place - really good food & coffee Breakfast or lunch - can’t go wrong.
Macaroons are good (they are also gluten free) probably the most coffee options in the area. Food is very good especially for how fast it comes out. (Haven't yet been there on a weekend, because it's very busy)
Excellent coffee, small available sizes. Great selection of food with a lack of noise abatement for a quieter atmosphere. Greatly enjoyable for the whole family with food options to satisfy even picky eaters. West coast coffee lovers can easily find a great cup.
Food is fresh and tastes good. This place is like an upscale Panera bread. Very busy and loud though.
Great food
Great coffee and food. Too good of a place to be in Birmingham.
Love the laid-back cozy atmosphere. Fresh original Foods. One of my all-time favorite places for coffee and dessert
Pricey but good food. I had a spinach omelette (comes with a generous amount of goat cheese and a side of tasty seasoned green) and coffee (no refills) served in a sizeable mug.
Excellent coffee selection. Friendliest staff ever.
Their fried egg sandwich is to die for! The salads are tasty with an excellent light olive oil and vinegar based dressing, the kind that allows greens to go perfectly with any meal, from breakfast to dinner. Coffee is excellent. Staff is quick and friendly. Is it ALWAYS crowded and can be noisy. And the crowd can seem a bit pretentious at times. But it's worth it for the food!
Love this place
Super healthy and great pastries. A wonderful place to sit down or get something to go
Great experience with having breakfast here
Great spot for breakfast and coffee!
Not the most family friendly place but the food was amazing. Coffee is fantastic. None of the servers or cashiers were particularly friendly or warm but I would recommend this place for the coffee alone.
The coffee here is great! They also stock delicious pastries and offer a great menu for breakfast or brunch. I highly recommend you try this place!
Best brunch I've ever had!
The breakfast was amazing! I could taste a long unused ingredient ( LOVE ) . I am very impressed, they have figured it all out. The staff was awesome , Mary B for the recommendation and friendliness. Thank you. I will be back. Loved the hot sauce too. Well Done Commonwealth
Nice atmosphere and appealing menu. I had the quinoa bowl, which looked much better than it tasted, wasn't expecting raisins in it. Also, didn't love the house hot sauce. Toast was amazing but $5 for 1 piece of bread was a bit much.
Very cool place for breakfast and coffee. Food is delicious and coffee is heavenly.
Nice modern cafe with lots of food option. In house roasted coffee with espresso and pour over options.
We love the coffee this place serves. Their C-Latte is out of this world. More importantly, the stuff they roast and sell is phenomenal. I am a coffee snob. This place is luscious.
Great atmosphere. Unique vibe.
Great food, coffee and atmosphere.
We got here before the lunch rush—incredible food with fresh flavors! Really liked the atmosphere and decor.
C latte is awesome and sandwiches are great.
I ordered a pastry and a cappuccino. They both tasted fresh. The employees were friendly. This place gets very busy on the weekends, so make sure you get there early, or the line will be out the door. There is a separate line for ordering to-go. There are smaller tables mixed with a few four-person tables that are usually occupied by families. This would be a great place to get some computer work or reading done if you don't mind a little background noise.
Very good coffee and nice selection of food.
Awesome coffee..great ambience
Quinoa bowl is yummy!! Nice atmosphere, too.
The food was really good I got the breakfast burrito and it was rich and moist enough to ultimate enjoyment. I also got a mocha tho it was good it was way to over priced for it's taste I rate it 4, but I am a fierce believer in Starbucks so than again it could just be too organic for me. It really depends on your type. Over all the experience and food was really good I hope to come back soon and I encourage you to too.
Very cool vibe and delicious food and drinks!
Had a wonderful omlete and great coffee. Can't go wrong here.
Great coffee place. It's cozy, food was good too.
Too pricey for what it is.
Good coffee shop
I really want to love Commonwealth, I work right around the corner and it's beautiful inside and has a large patio- it reminds me of the coffee shops I used to frequent in the Bay Area. More importantly, I love a great tasting cold brew and pastry to get me through my day. I've been frequenting Commonwealth for about a month and am disappointed by both the pastries and cold brew. The banana bread loaves have always been burnt and stale and the cold brew has been very sour to the point of pouring in extra creams once I get into the office. The iced lattes have been pretty good- I'll give them that. Writing this as review for quality- hoping they improve because I really love the atmosphere and the workers are nice.
Cool place.
Food is great. The pancake is a bit dry. Coffee is good. Service is excellent. The only complaint I have is the interior design didnt consider the noise reduction. It is too noise to me even only 30% of seats are filled.
Amazing fried egg sandwich. Always consistent in their food and service. Commonwealth is always a great option!
Great food and coffee, one of the only places I'll drink it black
Don't like having to wait in line to order and it's definitely Birmingham prices, but the blueberry pancakes were delicious and the raspberry tea was great, too. The water they serve you is room temperature, which my bf didn't like.
Excellent coffees, the pour overs are my favorite.
it's one of my favorite brunch locations, great food and the drinks are amazing.
Food was great
Great food, but prices are extremely high
I guess the standards I had set for this place just weren't met. Their coffee is really good, but for the price being charged you aren't really getting food to match the cost. Just not my type of place I guess. Definitely give it a shot and see how you like it though.
Coffee is stellar and the menu always offers something new and interesting.
Very busy at Sunday 11am brunch but food and drinks were delicious. Despite being busy the service was friendly and quick. Fried egg sandwich was yummy!
Can’t go wrong with the atmosphere & a C Latte
This place is great! Good food and cool atmosphere!
Great avocado toast and service! Try their ginger mint tea
Great place for brunch and meeting up with friends.
Great coffee, but expensive. Parking can be tricky here as well.
Very hip and great food
Beyond 5 stars ! Well decorated interior space embellished with plants and minimalist furniture creating a serene environment. Space is consumed of both the noise of people and sweet smell of food! Defiently an ideal place for breakfast or lunch with friends or family.
The food and coffee here are memorable. Can’t wait to be back. The waffle is really good but you may still be hungry for more - the breakfast with eggs was absolutely great.
We were there on Saturday and the girl at the counter was so passive and unpleasant, it was very off putting. Pity, because the food is good.
Great and fresh all the time!
Best Kale and Quinoa Salad Ever Amazing people Great service Planning my next trip this week back to Commonwealth Cafe
This best has amazing coffee, with a great atmosphere on the inside. The breakfast was very good too!
Good upbeat breakfast place. I tiny bit expensive.
Great coffee spot. Food is fantastic. Only problem is being that's it's fast casual the service after you sit is very weak. Don't clear plates, bring more water, etc.
Always have the most amazing time at common wealth. Amazing food and coffee!
Creative menu. I've never been disappointed with the food here. The coffee isn't my favorite, but it will never stop me from coming here for brunch.
What a cool and vibrant space! We stumbled on this place just after we parked our car and it was so alive and happening that we decided to go in for brunch. Super good coffee and massive menu with plenty of healthy and not so healthy but delicious options. Awesome BLT - highly recommend
Good coffee but always extremely packed with a line out the door. If you're just there for coffee, make sure to skip the line and go to the left (takeout line).
Clean, modern cafe with many food options. Lots of vegetarian and a few vegan options are available, along with the occasionally vegan pastry. Count on delicious food and a little bit stuck up wait staff. All in all its a very nice cafe.
Very high quality food. Long wait in line, and for food.
Best coffee you will ever have. Unique place but its expensive. Its a must try if you are in town
The organic brown rice bowl of the day with kale, snap peas pickled ginger, avo, plus chicken and an egg. YUM!
The breakfast burrito is great.
Interesting set up for a breakfast/brunch spot. You need to order your food before sitting down so it's best to view the menu online before hand so you know what you want before you go in. Great food though and the macaroons are delicious!
I love the layout here and the food is delicious. It's great that there are two different lines for eat in and take away!
One of my go to for breakfast or lunch and omg the coffee! Great healthy menu , the burrito is delicious also there muffins are not too sweet which I prefer . Decor is beautiful. I always try to stop by when im I'm the are. They close at 3p.m, I wish they can open later though
Excellent coffee - their baked good selection is pretty disappointing, but their food and their coffee is solid - the coffee in particular. Also, it is an upbeat, bright atmosphere - very cool coffee house! thanks for creating something beautiful in our city!
Best coffee in Birmingham.
Amazing people and amazing food, coffee and teas! Lots of cool plants too;)
Yumm!
Super cute coffe shop / cafe. I loved the avocado toast! (ok, so I'm basic like that...) And the coffee is good, strong and amze. I ate here every day during my recent visit to Birmingham.
A little pricey but you can't beat the quality. Coffee is excellent as is all the food.
Was pretty good coffee when we went. Packed to the gills, and one of the employees gave away the table we were already at. It was weird.
Love the BALT&E!
Nicely furnished with a pleasant atmosphere but my burnt $4 black coffee was not acceptable.
Had amazing brunch there. for weekend good place to start the day love it recommend this to everyone
I can't believe you coffee drinkers will wait so long for one coffee food was good
Best overall breakfast & coffee spot in Birmingham. Unique & full of options. Great for business meetings too.
Great place for a delicious quick bite.
nice relaxing atmosphere, great food, good prices. the shiitake omelet with bok choy salad was very good, but the goat cheese quiche was excellent. we also had a side of fresh fruit and 3 potato hash.
Great atmosphere. Great wifi. Coffee not so much. Needed more flavor. A little thin.
My favorite breakfast spot in downtown Birmingham
Delightful coffee and waitstaff is friendly.
Absolutely fantastic.
This cafe is awesome. Their coffee is roasted in house, and their food is fantastic. Make sure you get there early on the weekend if you want a seat though!
Total cool hipster joint in Birmingham. Can get healthy eats, delicious sandwiches and of course some fancy coffee. Known for delicious pour over cups and the sweets. Commonwealth will leave ya satisfied for sure but you spending some extra cash as well. Unique beverages offered as well, they have solid service and staff is running around making sure spots clean for its guests.
Great cafe! The coffee is roasted in house and is incredible in a pour over or latte. Their brunch menu is huge and has options for everyone.
I drink coffee. Not cappuccinos, lattes, mochas etc etc etc... Their coffee is horrible! Literally could not finish the cup. Foods not bad though.
Quaint hipster environment. Great coffee, healthy meals, friendly staff. Good location with a parking garage close by.
Over priced substandard breakfast in what's seems like a hipster soup kitchen. Great place for beta cucks
I love this place! Such a relaxing atmosphere and hands down they have my favorite tea ever. The rishi cinnamon plum !!! And they have a lot of yummy gluten free baked options that are to die for!
The food was really good so were the drinks. The lattes could've been hotter as they got cold during our stay. The wait was a little long but it was but it's understandable since it was brunch time on a Sunday. The only bad thing is their restroom. They only have one and it's for both men and women!
The chorizo hash was great. Blueberry pancakes were good but I wouldn't order them again. Hot chocolate was meh.
Great coffee and healthy food options.
For being so pricey, they sure overcook their eggs. Nice atmosphere. $100 breakfast for 2 adults and 2 kids? Come on!
Just terrible.
It's ok. Overpriced for the quality. Be prepared to wait forever for 'meh' + a large bill
I'm not sure if I can hang in Birmingham. $4.50 for a pour over coffee, and $14.00 for an avocado and egg on toast. That being said I knew eating in this posh city would be expensive and the food and the atmosphere was great. My friend got a delicious cappuccino with foam art and i had the Ethiopian light roast pour over with fruit pancakes which were delicious. During the week, there is plenty of parking and ample seating. I like the feel of downtown Birmingham, you just have to go in knowing you are going to be spending a ridiculous amount of money, no matter what.
Amazing rotations of coffee, great food, super nice staff, and a great interior. Love this place.
Service was quick, place is clean and neat. Ppl are super friendly, however the food is not that good. It sounds and looks great but it's dry and doesn't have so much of a taste. I was expecting way more than what I got, I was actually disappointed when I left. It could be a one time error but I don't think I'll go there anymore
Healthy, light but great quality brunch place. If you don't like heavy rich type of brunch, this is the perfect spot for you.
Best coffee and Brunch in Birmingham. I never say this but it’s expensive but still worth every penny!
Had a day off and went for breakfast- was not disappointed in the least! Great decor inside, great food with a simple menu, good coffee and if you're lucky you can catch a parking spot right outside. If I was a trophy wife I would spend lots of mornings here!
This is one of my favorite cafes in SE Michigan. Artisanal menu items with a focus on good presentation. Wish there were more like this.
Great espresso and food! Love the atmosphere. I wish there were more cafes like this in the area
Love this place, great for breakfast or lunch. The prices are a little high, but it's well worth it.
Not too bad of a spot in Birmingham. Food is good to very good, price point is decent. A little modern, parking can be tough, and the service is average. Not excited about $3.00 toast, or a $3.25 coffee that's only 6 ounces...but it's worth stopping in just for the Fried Egg Sandwich, it's good!
I love the coffee and pastries are super good
Always great!
I had an outstanding breakfast. Good atmosphere. Great vibe. The Mediterranean quiche--more like a souffle-- was top rate.
Fresh ingredients and a simple menu. Great place for brunch. Might have to wait to get seated.
My favorite place! I always come here! Everything is good! You can't go wrong. I'm gluten free and they have gluten free bread, which is the best gluten free bread I've had in 4 years of being gluten free! They are super fast even when it's busy. I do work here sometimes and it's the perfect place for that too!
Much improved with expanded space and broader menu. Gets crowded in weekends, but good weekdays.
