Unique gem in downtown Howell! I must say that my husband and I are coffee snobs and their coffee has been hands down the best I've ever had. What sets this coffee shop apart from others in the area is the fact that they roast their own coffee in-house allowing you to buy their freshly roasted beans and grounds that the owner has roasted himself. This is in addition to serving up their delicious coffees, lattes, baked cookies etc. at the shop. They also uniquely use ceramic coffee mugs in-house helping reduce the use of plastics/toss away cups (although they have to-go cups if you are grabbing a coffee on the go). Practice patience, as they just opened and do not yet have a full staff. I hope the city sees what a gem this coffee shop is!

Beautiful atomsphere, great service delicious pourover coffee, and baked goods.(my child ate their chocolate chip cookie so quickly with a yummmm after every bite) they have a variety of other drinks like chai tea and lattes but I didn't try them. Other customers seem to really enjoy them however.

Got the Black iron Latte and sausage and egg breakfast wrap. Both were amazing. Perfect amount of cinnamon in the latte, almost with a chai tea flair and the breakfast wrap was delicious. Fluffy eggs and amazing gravy.

Super nice staff, and a great place to get a chai tea latte! The mix they used seemed more authentic and not just your standard powder or syrup - like they actually use authentic spices. Definitely recommend!

Very friendly staff with amazing coffee. Our power was out and I went there only to find they had lost power too. I forgot cash and only had a card that they couldn't scan, so they just helped me out and gave me a cup. If I didn't move out of town I'd go there every day.

Coffee beans are roasted in house. Bake goods are made in house. I love that they have matcha lattes hot and iced. It has a cozy atmosphere and friendly staff.

Black Iron Coffee Roasters has a nice selection of different coffee bean brews and flavored lemonades like Lavender Lemonade and Strawberry. The coffee theme decorations are very pretty and we really liked the antique coffee grinders they have scattered around. They now can make Iced Coffee. I had the Iced Mocha and it was very good. There was not too much Mocha in it so you can still taste the coffee. During the day they roast coffee beans on premises so I bet that makes a great smell and adds to the coffee shop ambience. It is easy to find right in downtown Howell and it's a nice location to walk around town to different shops as you get coffee to go.

Love the new coffee shop in Howell! Very unique atmosphere, great vinyl music playing in the background, wonderful staff, and great coffee! Love the local owned feel to it with using their own coffee grounds right in house and able to purchase for home use. Definitely a new hot spot in downtown and with more practice and time, this place will be booming in no time!

**Update: Shortly after this review, the owner appeared and seemed to be educating the staff on proper foaming technique. Very impressive. Obviously very well managed and great pride in ownership. Review increased to 5 Star given this exemplary display of ownership. ** Popped in for breakfast as we live locally and relish a morning walk for fresh coffee. First, may I mention that we had speedy, friendly service from both the barista and chef. Food was explained in detail and service was very prompt. On to the drinks. Her “Black Iron Iced Latte” was very good (iced brew with honey and cinnamon); well priced for the pour. I had a cappuccino; the draw was a bit earthy but full-bodied nonetheless (I think it may have been a Sumatran roast, albeit not my favorite, but alas that is a personal matter). The milk foam density fell upon delivery, but that may have been due to the relative youth of the machine’s calibration. The high point of our visit was our culinary selection; a sausage, egg and cheese breakfast wrap on a tomato and basil tortilla. Through the use of a poblano breakfast gravy, flavor was richly layered throughout the pillows of freshly cooked egg and generous chunks of sausage that gave hints of sage. Large portion too, enough for my wife and I to split. All in all, we look forward to our next trip in. The fifth star could easily be gained from this novice critic through the improvement of the milk foam. Again, excellent service, exceptionally clean environment, fantastic food and drink, and a wonderful addition to a downtown scape that was lacking in coffee competition.
