Was extremely disappointed with this Cafe. Looked quite promising and has a rather pleasing aesthetic, BUT, I waited extremely long for service. They then told me they didn't have all ingredients for completing the dish. Changed my order and waited even that much longer. Mind you, both plates for my wife and I were simply pasta dishes. Portion was not impressive and they refer to it as an entre. This includes nothing more in addition to the dish. Had much higher expectations but will not be revisiting. As an FYI, it was not busy at the time I visited so not sure why the wait was so bad

While the food was decent the customer service was absolutely terrible. I ordered a coke and the waitress forgot the coke as well as an appetizer we ordered along with our meals and didn’t realize until we mentioned it to her. We weren’t checked up on at all despite it not being busy. Would not recommend.

That was a shame. Ordered veal Oscar, the veal was over cooked but nobody came to check until I had sat without taking a single bite for 22 mins, 6 mins after my boyfriend had already finished eating. So I didn’t get to eat tonight. I can’t justify paying twenty bucks for a dry tough piece of meat. Also couldn’t taste the hollandaise. I feel like for twenty bucks you could also get some bread without having to ask for it, maybe a salad would be nice. Also could see the staff standing around and playing on phones while waiting for someone to notice I wasn’t eating my meal. Was not a busy. I tried to find something positive and it was that they did deduct the price of the meal I did not eat.

Great food and fast, friendly service in a traditional New England tavern atmosphere. I had the steak with scampi style shrimp on top that was perfectly cooked with a side of garlicky mashed potatoes. Paired with an ice cold Narragansett, it was a delicious!

Terrible experience, trying to enjoy a nice family day trip...and her attitude was poor and she had way of not being able to hide her expressions and you could read every ounce of annoyance on her face when ordering drinks or asking for a menu. What a terrible way for a bar tender to greet customers! Such a shame, menu looked pleasing and bar selection was great but a poor attitude hindered my orginal plans to explore the menu and order some food!

I went to Witches Brew on Thursday night to celebrate my 21st anniversary, I easily dropped over 100 bucks between 2 people . Ordered the seafood casserole and my wife the gorgonzola steak. So.... Friday night at 7pm the very next day we decide to go back with our daughter. The bar was full but the restaurant was EMPTY. When asked if we could sit at one of the 4 tables by a window, we we're denied because there was only 3 of us. THE PLACE WAS EMPTY!! If it wasn't full at 7pm on a Friday night the window seats sure as hell wasn't going to be occupied.... Anyhow they tried to sit us at a small table and when asked if we could sit by the window they continued to deny us.... So we left and went to Jamis Kitchen and enjoyed an ocean view instead. Now the restaurant became completely empty .. could have been over 120 dollar meal... After 20 years of going to this place I am not going back. Then I write them a private message before proceeding to tell all 1500 of my friends what happened so they can try and make it right and they see my message and ignore it. Horrible biz stay away this place has changed

We stopped in because it was on most haunted cities on the travel channel. Very few choices on the menu, not a very new England authentic offering, waiters were fairly rude, customers loud and obnoxious with no request from staff to quiet down. Many MANY better options in Salem. The food we did order was bland, had an offputting vinager taste and not very good portions for the price.

Horrible service. Waitress told my family and I that we could not sit at two open tables because we were a party of 3 and not 4. Tables were open for 20 plus minutes. The woman said she still would not seat us at those tables and that if we wanted to leave they were fine with that. Wondering if some racism and homophobia were part of the reason we were treated so badly. Went to Finz and got a table on the water with great service.

I didn't want to review this because I don't want people crowding it! Food is great, servers all take the time to get to know you and are super friendly. Cocktails can't be beat here; served in a cool spot with separate bar and dining areas if you need that. No better place to be in a storm with the fireplace on and drinks flowing.

Clam chowder was super good but the baked stuffed sole was very disappointing as was the salmon and baked stuffed shrimp. Ate a couple bites and couldn't eat any more. Atmosphere is really nice though. And lobster risotto was really good. Just disappointing when we came for the East Coast seafood.

My name is Tony louly i use to Work at Witch's Brew Cafe when i came to america 23 years ago, it was my first real Job experience, i absolutely love it. the owner Spiro a wonderful generous men Hard worker Honest and respect and love america, he was a creative in his restaurant and make all the great recipes people enjoy it and us as worker we love it , he give me place to live without paying a penny for 3 months to help me stand on my feet, and i asked him why you help me Spiro, he look at me because when i was in your age no one help me and when i help people give me a power to help other people . for 22 years i usually talk to the owner spiro ones a months to say Hi, I called today and i received very sad news Spiro the wonderful men pass away To Spiro's family, Sonny et all: you have My deepest sympathies, and i hope this great restaurant carry Spiro Legacy.

My mom and I stopped here while visiting Salem and we are definitely pleased! She had the tuna melt and I had the Omaha sandwich, both were delicious! There was a special to have a cup of clam chowder with the melt, and it was one of the best cups of chowder I’ve had in a while! Service was great as well! The food and service were great! The only reason they lost a star is because they opened late, leaving customers standing in a line outside in the cold rain for a half hour. If they're already open, go on in for a great meal in a cool atmosphere with an eclectic crowd.

Honestly the worst dining experience I have ever had! This place looked so cute and I wanted to try somewhere I haven’t been before but I couldn’t have picked a worse place. Our waitress was extremely rude! Never showed a smile once, seemed annoyed with any questions we asked her and then just disappeared. The food took an hour and a half! I completely understand if a kitchen gets backed up or if understaffed, but the server should have come over and informed us and not have been annoyed when asking how much longer our food would be after an hour of waiting patiently. My boyfriend also asked for a refill on his water twice and he never got it, he also tried to get the servers attention three times and she ignored us and kept walking away. Will never be back

What a waste of time. We were in Salem to visit the Witch Museum. We figured it would be a nice idea to go have a bite at the Witch's Brew Cafe for lunch. The website said they opened at 11am. We arrived at 11:47 am and to our surprise the door was locked. No sign saying they were closed. There was a woman inside standing behind the counter. I knocked and she glanced up then ignored me completely. Thanks for nothing. Walked a mile for no reason.

We waited way too long. They were understaffed. Then we waited 1hr inside for our food. The server was overwhelmed and rude. She didn't check back with us after the meals were served. We waited so long my youngest daughter was getting upset, so we ask another server to get food that was available and she went and they arrived right away. Unfortunately my daughter's food didn't arrive except for everyone else at our table and the other server noticed while our server didn't even realize. Our server forgot to bring the soups until we reminded her. The stuffed crabmeat haddock was just stuffing. While waiting outside someone called for the wait time and they said there's no wait, but they were standing outside and started laughing, because they were on a line.

I went for soda after a long walk, and the smells were intoxicating. The waitresses assured me that the flavors are consistent. Which is very appealing to me. Also, the clientele is pretty much the same too. All I could think of was a smaller version of Cheers! I will definitely go back. Went in just to buy a gift certificate. Hard to find parking that was right outside, had to park a little down the street and walk. Staff was friendly, held the door, helped me with my baby carriage. For some reason they use a side door that opens right into the bar instead of the more front door that opens onto the dining room? It made it somewhat awkward going in with a baby carriage which I had to use since I had to walk. It would be nice if they had a "family entrance" that went into the dining room directly. I would feel strange going here just for dinner and having to walk through a bar first.

This was a nice and cozy corner place. We liked the food and the service, as well as the big windows so we could look out into the street. The coconut shrimp appetizer was very good! I only take one star off because they only do one check per table, which I understand for logistics, but makes it very challenging for large groups to eat out.

While on a family vacation in Salem we tried this restaurant based on the provided reviews. Upon entering we were asked if we had a reservation which we did not have. We were sat in a back room next to the women's bathroom which did not provide much egress for those wishing to use the restroom. The waitress appeared to be put out by our presence and was very short in her interactions. The food was over priced for the actual quality as only one of the six of us finished what was on our plate. The meal that was finished was the Witches Brew Seafood, which was also over priced for the small amount of seafood. It is this reviewer's opinion that this restaurant is focused on getting tourist's in and out and better service is catered to the locals. Overall, the food and experience was underwhelming.

Me and my Mother walked in after a long walk on a hot day, we were craving a nice cold drink and something to snack on. Great place to get a decent meal that is not over priced. The best meal in town is the Witches Brew Steak at the best price for a dinner. It is located across the street from Witch Way Gifts and down the street from the House of Seven Gables so a trip down Derby Street in Salem is worth the trip!!

Wish I could review the food, I get it, it is the busiest weekend of the year, but a simple smile and "I'll be with you as soon as I can" goes a long way. We went in and the blonde behind the bar with the scowl on her face pouring drinks and taking the transaction from a bar patron, we presumed was the bartender, saw us and did not smile nor say a single word. She disappeared into the dining room with drinks so we thought maybe it was the lady on the phone who was to help us... while another unacknowledged couple walked out, we watched another server (?) come up,pour draft beer, again not acknowledge us, obviously unhelped, and then a group came in, scowling blonde came back pitter pattered at the bar and then asked the new group of people what they would like to drink( it had been a good 7-10 min by now of not being acknowledged). We walked out. Served for 15 years. Even if you are sat 20 tables/ bar seats at once, you smile and acknowledge your customers. She is too miserable of a person to wait on anyone. Sorry this weekend is busy, but you missed out- we are phenomenal tippers :-(

Seemed like a quaint local place to stop in for a drink while on vacation. It would have been nice except for the absolutely RUDE service we received by the brunette behind the bar who seemed appalled that we were not Caucasians. Besides us there were only a handful of people, so when this rude woman kept walking by my friend at least three times as she stood at the bar waiting to order, we had enough. After I caught her eye when she was "hiding" in the kitchen, she finally came out after an eye roll and took her order. I would say, take your money elsewhere to an establishment who appreciates the tourists and doesn't seem so racist!!

The atmosphere, the vibe the VEGETABLES! My goodness the veggies were prepared excellently bright, delicate flavorful chunky zucchini, carrots mushrooms and cauliflower. Those veggies had a melody that touched my soul. There was chicken too it was juicy and tender. They were great about switching no capers, no added salt and no pasta. Wait staff were pleasant, accommodating and attentive. Although there's a bar in the front the noise level was minimal. I enjoy my visits to the Witches Brew looking forward to my next visit already.

This is the first business I went to in Salem and they couldn’t have given a worse impression. We put in for a table, were told 20 minutes so asked where the bathroom was. We came back out to wait and she had given away our table (5 minutes later). We were shoved in a table against the door which is fine, but sat for 15 minutes with no service, not even offered water. The man who was supposed to wait on us came over and said he would be over in a minute ‘is that okay’ and the other waitress told us ‘its Okay’ after we said we had already been waiting several minutes. The man then got extremely rude, and I turned to look at him in disbelief and the absolutely disgusted look on his face just made me walk out. Just glared at me with his head titled. Took everything I had to not scream at how absolutely inconsiderate the staff was. I understand it’s salem in October, but tourism funds this city, there’s absolutely no need to be that rude. I’ve never felt more unwelcome anywhere. I will never step foot in this establishment again and will gladly spend my tourist dollars elsewhere.

I have heard Good things about witches brew so I decided to try it. I was looking for some baked fish and I went on their online menu and saw a nice picture of what looked to me like baked scallops in cracker crumbs golden toasted and it looked delicious so I ordered it and though the menu said it was one price I got there and it was a few dollars more but that happens I understood. I get home and they are some bare scallops without any butter cracker crumbs that looks saute not baked. They were very small they looking scallops that were very tough and tasted very fishy so I called them back and they apologized and said that they could make me a baked haddock so I fall for that. Go back only to pick up a piece of bare soul again white with no cracker crumb on it and it had some kind of disgusting dark fish like topping that was also very fishy tasting I'll never go there again

The Witch's Brew Cafe was an alright experience. The brunch my family and I had was fairly plain, nothing special. Though the waitstaff was friendly and attentive.

Worst. Customer. Service. Ever. Witches Brew looked so cute from the outside and seemed quaint on the inside. No line, and it wasn't busy and they seated us. After seated, we ordered drinks and the waitress seemed ok with us just having drinks. But then the young gentleman, who told us he was on his second day, told us to move. We moved by the bar, where he told us to go, and again, we were asked to move. You had a Purple Heart veteran and a Houston firefighter that just wanting to kick back and have a drink, and they WOULDN'T serve us!!! Luckily we found the VFW who were loving and full of awesome locals who welcomed us. I would never recommend it to anyone. Worst customer service ever.

Reviews hyped this place up. And although the food was not bad i really had a higher expectation. Its just your regular restaurant with sandwiches and pasta etc. Good portions. Very friendly staff.

Such a cozy place for a yummy bite and a delicious drink. As every place in Salem we were welcomed and treated with great hospitality. Witches Brew Cafe will be revisited for our annual trip every year!!! Ohh and even my friend could satisfy her "gluten free" diet here!!
