This Coffee Shop belongs to the category of Cafe.
I really wanted to like Simon's... However, I was disappointed with the coffee quality and taste. Also, it was definitely on the expensive side (even for a ~trendy~ local coffee shop) and their "large" size was comically small. That said, service was friendly and the location was cute and convenient. All in all I would probably not return with so many other options to explore in Porter.
Good cappuccino. It is quite peaceful. It is a great spot especially if you are looking for a place to sit and work/study...
Good bagels and Chai Latte
Often some of the best espressi in town, but not 100% reliable (that's better than being consistently mediocre though!)
Best coffee ever... caputinno!!
Wonderful place where you can find a wide variety of soft drinks and it's a great place to stay having a conversation.
I've been coming here for years and am always very happy with the taste and quality of the sandwiches and coffee. It does, however, always seem to take an exceptional amount of time for them to prepare the sandwiches and coffee compared to other similar establishments. Even so, the best coffee shop in the area if you're not in a rush.
Arguably the best espresso you can get in the Boston area. Lattes are silk smooth and delicious. Simon is very peculiar about the proper grind levels and extraction temperature, and all the baristas are very skilled.
If you're looking for a coffee shop near Harvard other than Starbucks--this is your place. It's particularly cozy--with a few tables lined up against the wall opposite of the counter. I tried their matcha latte which was solid--it would have been nice if there was some latte art included. It did take a while for my order to arrive--approximately 5 minutes though there were a couple of people ahead of me. Price was typical of a normal coffee shop--ranging from 2-5 dollars depending on the drink and size you order.
Yummu fresh bagels and coffee. Great little cafe and nook!
Definitely the best coffee shop I have visited in Boston. Consistently good coffee and a great place to hang out.
One of the best coffee shops in the Boston area, and possibly the best in the Porter/Harvard area. Consistently excellent lattes. They use beans from Barismo, who are an excellent local roaster. Their pastries and other assorted goodies are also quite good.
Honey latte was great. Nice baked goods. Parking area off to a side street. No free WiFi and staff was not friendly hence 3 stars.
Simon's is a lovely place to get a latte, pop in your headphones and do work. The atmosphere is calm, much better than Starbucks or a chain shop. The Simon's near Porter is also very convenient.
Great coffee, delicious scones.
Average.
Super espresso drinks.
Amazing coffee shop with amazing quality.
The best coffee I've had in my entire LIFE! Everything is beautifully made and the baristas are genuinely talented.
Great place to sit down and have a coffee . They had Gibraltars which I always have trouble finding and it was delicious. They also had oatmilk which was amazing . Took a little while for the drink to be made but it was worth the wait .
Cozy and roasty!
No free WiFi, but amazing coffee, food, and atmosphere
The staff is super friendly and they adore your little kids if you bring them along. My daughter always gets special little treats when we visit. It is a cozy atmosphere with a lot of regulars that get together just to chat. On the walls they have a rotating art gallery. Overall, it is a wonderful place.
It was my first time there. The employees were super friendly and my sandwich and coffee were made fast and it was delicious. I'll def go back again
Great cozy little cafe with outdoor seating for nice weather, full selection of hot and cold coffee and tea drinks, with a few uncommon offerings. Sandwiches, bagels, and some pastries give you plenty of options for food, with the Hummus Avocado Veggie sandwich being an awesome one.
Espresso/latté nirvana: *easily* (hands-down) the best in all of Boston (baristas are experts of their craft, and love to chat about it with you) -- this little café uses beans by local roaster Terroir Coffee Company on a rotating basis. It's über-popular: be prepared to wait for a seat (crowd is a healthy mix of Harvard/Tufts students, Ph.D candidates, and professionals). If you're in need of a coffee-alternative (PS - Why are you here?), give Sanpellegrino Soda a try (Aranciata Rossa/Blood Orange + Limoncello/Lemonade). A+ playlist. Bummer: Paid Wi-Fi Only! Highlights: Latté/Bathroom Art, Gibraltar (cortado), Enlightened/Sophisticated Conversation, Mexican Hot Cocoa.
Great coffee, but small space and you have to pay for wifi. If you're looking for a good place to sit down and get stuff done, there are better options around.
Good food, good service, gets a little crowded at times. Maybe a little on the expensive side.
Great coffee, good food, wonderful staff. It's bigger than it looks.
By far my favorite coffee shop.
Excellent coffee and very tasty scones!
they always have fresh coffee na have fresh muffins
Girlfriend and I dropped in to get out of the rain. What a wonderful surprise this place was! The coffee was delicious.
Mediocre coffee. Expensive wifi. Not much space to work.
Casual cafe to just stop by for coffee and a pastry. The coffee was excellent and went well with a fresh baked, fluffy chocolate chip scone.
Best coffee in Boston!
Simon's is a nice independent coffee shop. I enjoy their iced shaken honey latte. They literally shake it in a cocktail shaker. Very nice!
Buddies with Barismo! And other lots of great things about Simon's. But I got a latte that tasted like soy beans. Interesting, but not to my liking.
For our annual coffee crawl this year, my wife and I are biking around Cambridge and Somerville, MA and trying to determine the best place for iced coffee/lattes around. We are reviewing based on for categories: taste, coffee/ice ratio, atmosphere, and customer service. Simon's Coffee Shop is out first stop: Taste: **** My iced honey latte was great. Not overly sweet with the honey dissolved throughout for a consistent flavor. There is an underlying depth to the espresso that adds a nice, nutty background note. My wife's iced mocha was not as good, with the espresso flavor all but marginalized and a palette dominated by cocoa flavor, almost akin to a Starbucks mocha. Coffee/Ice Ratio: ***** Spot on. Perfect amount of ice to chill the drink while not diluting it by melting too quickly. Atmosphere: *** Nice, but not super inviting. I wouldn't want to chill out and enjoy my drink here... Seems best for a grab-and-go experience. Customer Service: ** Almost non-existent, honestly. The workers seemed too concerned with joking among themselves to pay more than the barest of concern to the patrons. All in all, Simon's is a good coffee joint, but it's kept from greatness by lackluster employees.
Great coffee, nice staff, a cozy, unpretentious place.
Great Ethiopian coffee
Same baked goods you'll find all over Boston. Coffee is ok. Nothing special. WiFi is paid hourly.
I like good espresso and this shop consistently makes it. Alternative milks are steamed properly and the pulled shots are fairly consistent. They occasionally over or under extract, but honestly it's one of the most consistent shops I've been to so I can't really knock them for it.
Really good espresso drinks. I had a delicious latté and a Barismo tasting was going on as well. The only downside I would say is the place is tiny and when I was here, it was super packed! A definite Cambridge feel. It's evident that the people here really care about coffee, I love that! The WIFI policy kind of sucks though...
No wifi without some subscription (?). Expensive. Not helpful. Don't go unless u r a local and regular and can pay for wifi and get them to explain it.
Coffee was bad and they charge for wifi
I love this coffee shop
Great pastries, great espresso drinks, sometimes half-off day old pastries. Service is friendly and quick.
Good coffee but you have to pay for wifi?
Delicious gracenote coffee and hearty hot sandwiches. Friendly staff and great service. There never seems to be seating available, so I would suggest taking things to go.
Great cafe style food and drinks. Quick service for a small local spot.
Good coffee, but they play douchey music whenever that one hipster guy isn't on shift. That hipster guy really wants to show you how cool he is, but you'll mostly experience that in the form if good music.
This place was my introduction to high quality espresso. It motivated me to buy my own espresso machine, coffee grinder and roaster. To this day, it is still my favorite coffee shop in the Boston/Cambridge area. I haven't been to a Starbucks or Peets ever since, unless I have no other choice (e.g., at the airport).
Love this place. Great neighborhood spot. Scones and baked goods are made there.
Can't drink caffeine anymore - just in town and wanted a place to work. Left my decaf coffee there after finding no outlets and no free wifi. I'm sure the coffee is great.
Coffee was great. Staff was also really great. Why management is charging for wifi in 2017 is another thing altogether. Pains me to write this but I came her hoping to do some work so 4 stars.
Awesome coffee shop... Strongly recommend this place to coffee lovers...
A pleasant coffee shop on small side, but that's not stopping them from having a great atmosphere and talented baristas. Perfect for that 'coffee shop background noise' you've been looking for.
Great coffee and sandwiches, but no free wifi
Great coffee!
Friendly staff and food came out in a timely manner.
Great coffee and nice environment to go with it.
Love this place. Walk past Starbucks and go here.
No free wifi. What is this? A third world country?
Some of the best coffee in Boston. I would tell you to go today, but then it will get more crowded for me. So dont go. Dont do it.
A few months after moving from Seattle, I was convinced that nobody in New England could make good espresso. But it turns out, somebody can after all. Having said that... Who on earth charges to Wi-Fin these days?!
Pleasant little coffee shop with a couple small two person tables. Does not have free wifi.
great coffee shop that can also brew a nice tea.
Excellent coffee with lots of options. The seating areas a bit cramped and have no wifi, but they are very nice places to read, work, or just watch people. Very popular so get there early pretty much everyday!
Nice and quiet. Good coffee. Exactly what you want from a coffee shop. I like to come here to read and people watch. Much cozier than some of the other cafes around the area
Nice cozy spot outside of porter to get some coffee and hang out
Very good coffee - and I say this as an obnoxiously proud Melbournian ;)
Great service. Coffee is on the pricier end but the quality is great.
best ice coffee in the town
This is a Cambridge treasure. Enough said. Coffee is awesome, pastries and bagels are good, and the interior is small and charming. Nothing beats it on a rainy day.
Very good espresso and cold brew!
Simon's has excellent coffee, and tasty sandwiches as well. Only complaint is that I wish it had more space!
Great espresso and iced green tea lattes. Simon's is very cute but the tables are small and if you're a group of more than 2, you probably should take your coffee to go.
Delicious coffee
Consistently deep rich brew and crema. Say hi to Simon and Alson and the crew.
Best espresso in Boston area. Great crema and always beautifully done. Every barrista is a master.
Great find. There's hope for Cambridge, Humanity. Yours truly, @WhiskeyRadish.
My favorite coffee place in Cambridge.
Coffee is good. Place is nice. Once I asked for an everything bagel w/cream cheese, owner gave me an everything toast [messed up the order, he said]..I took it sat down and saw green creeping on the edges of the toast. Didn't know what to think about that. Today I went in with a blank slate - 3/4's through my egg sandwich I found a long brown hair. I brought it back in and showed them..owner said 'Thanks' with a smile. ..So, that's it for me ..2 strikes.
Really good dirty iced chai, not too sweet and perfectly spicy.
The best coffee in Cambridge!
Nice, cost coffee shop
I had a sharply acidic espresso yesterday. My wife got a milk drink which they call a large cappuccino. It was very diluted with milk, and the milk temperature was too high. It had no right to be called cappuccino.
I LOVE DIS PLACE :D The people there are super rad, and nice to you even if you're only getting hot water. It's cozy, the coffee is fantastic, the music is usually great, the art is good, they have soymilk, tea, hot cider, and a super sweet bathroom taha. ALso its right next to hollywood video, which rocks.
Cozy if you want to come with someone. Espresso is decent (a little on the burnt side). No free wifi, (almost) no outlets.
Un lugar tranquilo donde ofrecen variedades de café y té del mundo en diversas presentaciones
Best coffee I've had in town.
I got a green tea latte and was disappointed. All of the matcha was in clumps at the bottom of my cup and it wasn't very warm. Because it wasn't warm all the sugar, that I didnt expect it to have, was at the bottom with the clumps of matcha. I also heard them tell a customer that their wifi isn't free.
Efficient service
Good coffee
Fantastic coffee made by great people.
Good coffee. Nice place to sit down and work.
Very cute, although the sandwiches are pricey. I like the bagel with pesto.
Probably the greatest lattes in the Boston area. It was a bit cramped when I was there, but the atmosphere is amazing. 10/10 would recommend this to a friend.
I ordered a bacon egg and cheese breakfast sandwich, it was very good. The bread was fresh, crispy outside soft inside.
This review is for their new location on Mass Ave near Central Square. The new location has a friendly staff and serves up a tasty cappucino. It's a nice place to spend time getting work done or to meet a friend for a caffeine boost.
The best lattes in the Boston area, on par with what you'd find in Seattle. Regular French roast is top-notch, as well. And their scones are deliciously moist.
Delicious coffee, good service. Very yummy coffee and my friend had a huge sandwich! I had very caffeinated coffee.
Staff, food, coffee were great. After dropping $16 on food & coffee and sitting down to work I discovered they charge $6 for WiFi. What year is it again?
Don't be fooled by the small size, some of the best baristas in Boston are here
Coffee is great, food options are not really available (some snacks and chocolates). no FREE WIFI! The space is to small to go with someone else to talk. Is like a place to order and go, or just read a chapter in a book... I'm and out, no more than 10 min.
Fabulous coffee and sandwiches!!! Friendly baristas who know your name and often your drink after a few visits. Great place to read and meet friends.
We went there every morning of our vacation in Boston. It was awesome. The coffee was awesome and the sandwiches were delicious! It's not always easy to get a table but we never were unable to get one before we left.
Great coffee and lunch!!
Super chill place. Good music, good coffee .
Barismo, coffee, espresso, George Howell Coffee Company, v60
Highly recommend!! Good coffee places
Beautiful place
Best espresso in Cambridge
Excellent coffee and good recommendations. Also, they have a drawing of a dalek on the wall.
Good coffee, pricey wifi! They charge $3.95/hr or $6.95/day. ($13.95/month, too)
