This Coffee Shop is classified in the category of Coffee shop.
Super grear! The staff was attention to detail and the latte art was beautiful. The only complaint I have is the lack of outlets. I came out of my way to work from here today but ended up having to leave to another coffee shop.
The barista is very talented, makes super fine rosettas. We tried a cappuccino and it tasted great. The store is spacious with a high ceiling and large windows. The restrooms need a better cleaning. This is probably not an everyday coffee shops as their stuff are a bit pricey...
One thing I enjoyed was how much care and effort the Barista put in to make my matcha latte. It just shows good professionalism and dedication whether people see it or not. So respect to that. It tasted very good too. I liked that it was in downtown area, and I'd come back again. Gave 4 stars since I didn't try other drinks to give full evaluation. But experience there, while short, was positive.
Great selection of high quality coffees, desserts and food. Interior atmosphere is also nice, with a variety of seating options.
Over priced....waited forever for my order....coffee was cold and sent back
Best matcha I've ever had.
a bustling little cafe on milk street, this sweet establishment offers something a little different from the myriad coffee shops in the area, featuring Japanese flavors and drinks on their menu. their house blend drop coffee is fantastic. as a cafe, they also have fresh bagels (jalapeno sriracha!!) and croissants, and their food is filling and affordable. the baristas are friendly and helpful, and the kitchen is quick. they also offer matcha sundaes... which i have to try, and will likely do so soon.
One of my favorite places to stop for coffee in Boston. Not only do they do super cute seasonal latte art, but there coffee is actually really good!!! We haven't tried the food here, but come often for lattes. Seating inside is usually minimal, unless you want to sit in the stadium style seating. That's usually a fine option for us since we don't stay too long, and it's great people watching!
Amazing espresso
I love this Japanese style Cafe. Their matcha Latte is really good as well as other matcha infused desserts they have. Their seating is unconventional but I would really love to have in the future a bigger space. The food and beverages are great, the classical music is on the point but it's tiny.
Love the lattes here... Especially the art they took a few weeks in Japan to learn. The green tea sundae is also excellent on a warm day....or for breakfast
Pleasant manager. Friendly and creative barista. Cool stadium seating if you're adventurous. If course I clambered up like a goat with my art embellished latte without spilling, I might add. Finally one of the best latte on the East Coast to date. Sweet cream because it was done to the perfect temperature, coffee not bitter or overpowering. Good to the last regretful drop, so good I'll ask if they sell the beans to take home.
Great coffee, busy even More reason to pick up dirty plates, glasses, food left from patrons. Total mess, if u wish to sit down plan on cleaning your table first.
Came here to order a quick bite to eat. The atmosphere is relaxed and not too loud. It's a nice place to sit down to study or get some work done. Although seating is kind of limited you can find a spot somewhere. The prices are kind of expensive, but expected for a cafe in Boston. I ordered a ham and cheese croissant and a hibiscus tea, which both were delicious and made in a timely manner. The staff is nice and friendly too. Overall a great place to stop in on.
What a cute little coffee shop! Very friendly service and it is an interesting layout with stadium seating, really makes the atmosphere more relaxing. The food is great too. I think perfect place to sit back with a book and some to drink.
A little pricey, but standard for the area and worth it for the incredibly well-made drinks and the extensive effort they put in to crafting latte artwork and almost every drink. The food is great too. Stadium seating is awesome for reading or browsing on a laptop. It gets pretty crowded though, so beware. Best times to go are early in the mornings on weekdays. Weekends are crazy.
House coffee is really excellent. Broccoli cheddar soup is nice on a cold Boston day like today.
Signature drink - amazing!
Matcha latte and matcha Swiss roll were superb but the service was very slow. Drinks and to-go orders were pushed out quickly but food items took over 20 minutes. Swiss roll had a dark matcha flavor with coffee jelly, vanilla ice cream, sliced strawberries and drizzles of coffee and strawberry sauce. Tea and coffee flavor didn’t go together and roll was pricey for size.
A tiny bit pricy for sizes but excellent. They also offer latte art classes and showcase different latte art on monitors. Great, non-traditional seating options.
This place is definitely a place for a special occasion.
I like their coffee art and delicious coffee. Signature drink(11$), but it's worth it :)
Went here for the 1st time this morning and I must say their Cappuccino was on point
Smooth, strong, cold brew combined with a quiet atmosphere and free WiFi make this a great spot to get some work done. The staff is friendly and the patrons typically follow suit, making this a relaxing stop more often than not. The seating is a bit eclectic, so if you're going to do work just be aware that you might not get a chair & table combo every visit.
Delicious coffee, great latte art. Enjoyed the hojicha latte, using a roasted Japanese tea and very Kyoto Style. Japanese sweets and a variety of salads and sandwiches too. You can use it as a high end coffee shop, or explore some Japanese style options if you prefer.
The best tea and coffee in downtown Boston
It's certainly good coffee but even though it's not good enough for the prices they ask.
Loved this place while visiting Boston, awesome coffee and good vibes. Geeking out on pour over that you can taste subtle differences
The Matcha Latte was delicious. The menu was intriguing but not quite what I was looking for in my search for a good bakery. So I just had the latte while I planned my next move and it was incredibly satisfying.
Service was great and so as foods.
Really nice coffee shop. The drinks and food are great, and the setting is lovely, very light and airy.
A must stop when visiting Boston and in search for a good start to the morning
Expensive. But great matcha!
Excellent coffee and tea especially the matcha. I enjoy coming here, and I try to always visit if I'm in downtown Boston.
Great place for a premium cup of coffee.
One more cup of coffee before leave.
Nice place to sit down and recharge your person and your phone. : )
Their matcha latte and matcha roll cake were authentic and really tasty:) The staff member was nice.
Absolutely fantastic staff! Fairly reasonable prices. Good coffee. I had a pretty well made pour over of a Guatemala bean. Good stuff in a solid location!
On the expensive side, but delicious coffee. Holy cow, it was hot as hell that day inside. Very steamy.
Staff are lovely and the drinks taste wonderful. If you have a chance try they're matcha, it's very high quality!
Friendly staff and amazing food, definitely come again
If you want great coffee along with a good setting (barista feel), don't think - come here
Loved this place. Good cappuccino. Fun seating options. Courteous staff. Clean restroom. Will definitely come here again to get some studying done and hang out with friends. Highly recommend.
I get excited about drinks that I’ve never seen before, and ordered the hojicha latte. Now I’m obsessed and bought my own powder on the internet. The matcha sundae changed me, and I am going to crave it all the time. I omitted the matcha jelly because of the gelatin, but didn’t miss it at all! So many flavors and textures, this was a masterpiece!
Best matcha lattes i have and the price is not bad. The matcha ice cream is delicious. I heard they serve good coffee too but I am not coffee drinker.
the counter staff were nice but they seemed a little inexperienced. The coffee's to the long time to come out, and the place was honestly very dirty for some reason.
I’ve worked at Ogawa for nearly a year and a half and honestly, EVERYTHING in the menu is top notch, delicious and unique. Fast service and a very welcoming atmosphere. Not a day went by where people were not ready to enter...the second the doors opened. LUV THIS PLACE
Good food, great coffee and tea drinks. Fair pricing. Good atmosphere.
Cool coffee shop, with pretty good coffee. Very pricy, but depending on what you order it could be worth it. Got an iced aeropress. They had the right methodology, but something wasn't quite right with the taste - - tasted like there was sediment and over extracted but it didn't seem like it should have been based on their brew time.
Service was beyond expectation and the food very good.
I have enjoyed my handful of visits to Ogawa coffee. I had a very good cappuccino from them. They offer some unique services, such as a sample flight of four single origin coffee, and hand packed sample gift boxes. The sweets looked really good, and although I have been able to resist them so far, I do want to give them a try next visit. It's interesting that they are a chain in Japan. I hope they can be successful Boston and maybe open a location that is a little more convenient for me to visit, soon!
We are pleasantly surprised by the quality of the coffee, they are really well balanced and not diluted by the milk, which happen frequently in other cafes. The food are really good too. We got the teriyaki chicken salad and avocado toast. We ended our breakfast with matcha roll cake and that gave us a perfect start for the day!
Good food the latte art is amazing
Great coffe crafts.
Ogawa is in Downtown, it offers a great mix of Japanese-US meals as well as a variety of coffee. The barista is skilled and the coffee delicious yet the espresso takes twice as long to prepare than a latte. The coffee is great but you should go if you are not in a rush.
Lovely vegan coffee. Ambience is good too.
Cold brew wasn't great
A small and and sweet coffee shop. Its ambiance is peaceful. Matcha latte was delicious. I am sure that i will go again and again.
Beautiful drinks and desserts, peaceful cafe in the middle of the hectic downtown area, and friendly service. We ordered the hojicha latte and the green tea matcha sundae to split and loved every sip/bite. The latte had a great, smoky, bitter flavor and was just a tad sweet. The dessert had two generous scoops of Toscanini's green tea ice cream, matcha syrup, crunchy cornflakes, a wonderfully buttery sesame cookie, and matcha jelly and red bean. The WiFi is fast, the bathrooms clean. Can't recommend this place enough, especially given the location!
Great coffee , fresh sandwiches . Small sitting area but also unusual , they have a step levels sitting like a stadium
The hype built up to this facility was far grander than the actual experience. It is just a fancy LOOKING
Great coffee, aesthetics are wonderful, great if you like artisan coffee.
Capuchino and espresso was average plus. Asked for having it inside, but got paper cups to go. Overcrowded and slow service place. Waiting time for V60 is 15 minutes, faiting time for simply warmed up stuff is 15 minutes as well. Not good and not enjoyable experience.
Loved the coffee. The set up is clean and bright, making it easy to linger and do work. Service was prompt and professional.
Great little coffee shop! Limited space, but wonderful coffee.
Excellent. Noticeably better than any cup of coffee I've had before. Worth visiting if you're in the DTX area. I've only had the Kyoto house blend but am looking forward to returning and trying the other brews they have on offer.
Awesome coffee
I love Ogawa - but bring your check book. It's expensive. But the quality is very high.
I seriously adore this place already, and I've only been here once. The staff was super helpful and friendly, and made me probably the best cup of coffee I've ever had in Boston. The place is small and charming with friendly clientele. Super glad I checked this place out. Highly recommend the Guatemalan made in an Aeropress.
The Matcha latte was very good and the Matcha sundae had the most amazing ice cream. Highly recommend it!
Nice place!
The food is very reasonably priced given the options in the area. The staff is friendly and accommodating. Tried the match latte which was recommended by a local and was not disappointed.
This place has awesome coffee and sweets. A Japanese twist on an American cafe. The head barista went out of his way to make me his seasonal drink and it was delicious. The staff are super friendly
Nice and friendly staff! Helped this unknowing tourist when he ordered an iced coffee instead of a cold brew and replaced the coffee afterwards because they wanted me to leave happy - well I did! Will visit again
Espresso of the highest quality. We went with flat-white style (about 3 oz double-shot espresso, 3 oz steamed milk), one with the house blend espresso bean and one with the Nicaraguan single-origin bean. Both were simply fantastic. Probably the best espresso I have had on the east coast (and I have been to many places). The service was also excellent, and I really look forward to coming back here.
This place has nice Japanese inspired coffee latte and other drinks. Nice to have meetings at the financial district.
On my quest to find the best chai tea latte I can, I've tried dozens of cafes. Ogawa is the best that I've found so far. Creamy but still very spicy, without any of the bitterness or musk that so many other places are plagued with. It was borderline perfect. With the perfection comes a price, of course, at over $6. Worth it? I'd say so. The interior has a neat setup with some bleachers as a seating area. Modern inside, clean and comfortable. Their food is simple, but high quality. The salmon salad was simply prepared, but fresh and delicious. No fishy smell, just high quality fish. Their drinks are generally more expensive than most cafes, but the quality is top notch.
Charming place, wonderful coffee, sandwiches and pastries. A nice place to relax and enjoy coffee and conversation.
Pricey but tasty
Good food, delicious coffee, and super friendly staff, will definitely be stopping by if I'm in the area.
Very friendly staff and great coffee
Best matcha latte in the US.
From japan, and the quality and flavors show. You definitely tell the difference. I got a matcha horchata and their breakfast sandwich. The horchata was delightfully unique with the mactha flavor, but the sandwich was next level. The sandwich is simple, but that lets the creamy egg yolk and what i can only assume was a sweet spread of some sort shine. The sweet acidic flavor is a great contrast to the yolk and made each bite a wonderful surprise
Very nice aesthetic, comfy place I went to with a handful of great friends. The employees were super friendly, the music was very relaxed and fitting. As a whole this place is spectacular. The tea was wonderful. I definitely plan on returning with friends whenever I'm close.
Loved almost everything about this company!! The lattes, smoothie and food were amazing, the staff exceeded expectations...I just wish that the prices were a little lower so that we could visit more often. Although you definitely get what you pay for here
Best cappuccinos in Boston
Came here solely for the latte and enjoyed it both times. It was very well balanced with not too much milk or espresso. It was impressively smooth and you can tell the Kyoto blend was intended to pair well with milk based drinks. We would have ordered a pastry but to my eye they all looked generic, like any other chain coffee joint. But their latte art is incredible, you can ask for a seasonal design so I chose a pumpkin. Great to Instagram and even better to drink.
I don't think I've been to a friendlier coffee shop! Everyone was so nice and personable. I only ordered a cappuccino and the taste was great, and the art on top was very nice touch. Would definitely return.
A bit crowded but loved the coffee & even the description of each individual one! Great experience
Great place.
Impeccable coffee and beautiful latte art.
it used to be a very nice coffee shop but they kinda lost a good atmosphere.
I love this place.
Superb coffee. Coffee for the gourmet coffee drinker
Satisfying sandwich portions with a generous side salad. Nice alternative to chips. Adorable latte art!
Cute and tasty coffee shop off the Main Street!
Stylish and cozy! Love this place. If you can find a sit you are lucky! And here is charging hot milk, sorry!
Such a unique and lovely place. It does feel that standards are held very high. The quality of the food is fantastic and the atmosphere is economic. There is a stage which allows for more seating - at your own risk - which allows for a obscure vantage point thaf you don't always get in a restaurant. The mocha was perfection with beautiful artwork. I ordered the breakfast toast and it was much more food than I was expecting so I was pleasantly surprised. Watching what I could see of the cook was so great to see. He seemed to have a science about it in a very small space and then he would even deliver the food. The preparation and presentation of the food was absolutely beautiful. Well done, I will be back when I'm in the area.
The drinks are great. The store is laid out well and is very cozy. I especially love the hooks they put on their tables so that your bags don't need to touch the ground. My only complaint is that everything is on the pricier side.
Nice downtown coffee shop with good selection of food.
Fantastic coffee shop with great coffee and great food. Best coffee we have found in the area by far.
I'm no hipster, but the avocado toast here is something special and the baristas are excellent!
Really pleased with my experience at Ogawa coffee. Great pour over prepared carefully in a thoughtful and attractive cup. They have samples of the coffee up front at the register so you can figure out which one you are most interested in before buying it by opening them and smelling them. It's pretty great. They have a good selection, although when I went it was mostly south and central American. Tea selection is okay and available iced. Nothing really vegetarian or vegan on the menu unfortunately.
high end coffee, now in Boston! Japanese style is more subtle than Portland or San Francisco, but it is still a great place to have a cup and chill for a bit. Good working environment.
Rich savory coffee and generously sized bagels along with a unique interior and modern tableware makes this one feel like an upscale coffee shop should feel.
Haven't had food here as yet, but the coffee is top-tier. While the drip is good in it's own right, what makes me appreciate this place is their attention to the finer points of espresso drinks, and in particular, their milk foam. Sooooooo many places, even the better shops around Boston, cannot seem to figure out how to steam milk in a way that makes tight foam bubbles - the method to a velvety, luscious drink. Best mocha I've had in a while - I forgot to take a picture of the top because I was too busy pouring it down my throat. Edit: I keep coming back and this place has awesome food as well! Seriously a gem.
There is stadium seating so you can get a better angle to see the baristas at work. Yeah. They are proud of their process here. Not strange enough? How about the “stage” at the front of the store where you can practically become an advertisement for people passing by. Yeah. I love the quirkiness of this place. Oh, and the coffee ain’t bad either.
We expected to enjoy this coffee shop due to the great reviews. We got an iced coffee for $4.30 and it was AWFUL!! Very bitter (almost burnt) and tasted like cheap coffee. Definitely not worth the price.
Start your day off right with a cup of coffee from Ogawa. Conveniently located a couple blocks away from downtown crossing, make a quick stop here before heading to work. There's some table seating near the windows along with some stadium style seats. Definitely would be back again to try their food as well.
Unique and wonderful. The hojicha and matcha lattes are a must try. Worth every penny.
Everything here is wonderful besides the cold brew. My favorite is the houjicha latte, but the coffee is great - even decaf. The Japanese style is charming and the stair step seating is very fun!
The best coffee I have had in a long time!!! They take their coffee seriously here, but they cater to the amateur coffee drinkers as well! Great customer service, good food, free WiFi, and wonderful coffee! What else can you ask for? Maybe more comfortable seats, but then no one would leave.
Super smooth lattes and perfect flavor. Loved the atmosphere and the history.
Love this place because it reminds me if I am in Japan
Best coffee in the area. Great place and vibe. Food is also top notch! Highly recommended.
The shop is small in central location, you may pass by the shop on the freedom trail walk. Stadium seats, inside the shop, are available to watch your drinks being made. I wish the door was double layers to prevent cold air blowing on customers on cold days. The green tea latte was great!
Tried the London fog tea when I was here. Now the U.S.A. is not a big black tea place but this drink came close to the Kenyan tea I have at home. Also, they have this stadium style seating in one corner - the decor is simple and great. Would go back there often if I lived in boston.
Service and atmosphere is great! One of the managers/baristas won a barista world championship! I believe the coffee there is organic as well.
Great staff, short waits, great drinks and food. Handicap accessible, but a little cramped. Not much else to say.
Excellent, full-bodied coffee and great scones and bagels. Nice staff as well. Also love the classical music that they play--its a nice break from the usual cafe music!
Got the barley drink (forget what it's called), and got it unsweetened with oat milk. Maybe it was my fault for getting it unsweetened, but it was nasty and the barista didn't warn me about how earthy it would taste. It reminded me of seaweed/dirt/traditional Chinese medicine. On top of that, they charged $1.50 extra for oat milk, which is outrageous as the drink was already $6. The setting was nice and seemed like a good place to study, but I would not recommend this place because of the overpriced and not so palatable drinks.
I’m a tourist who is always on pry for the best coffee shops in every place I visit. Ogawa always comes as one of the top on the list in Boston so I have to give it a try. It’s a little space full of energy with friendly baristas. I enjoyed my quick brunch and their latté is a total pick-me-upper.
An amazing local coffee place. I loved their almond latte and their coffee bean tastes great. I completely recommend it. Service is fast and friendly. Yum.
I had the nitro coffee which is very bold and strong, which is what I like. My girlfriend had the machaitto which had to much cream and not enough coffee.
The waiters were nice and attentive.
They have a great breakfast sandwich, bacon egg and avocado with chili mayo. Coffee is awesome
The bacon egg and cheese sandwich with chipotle aioli is a must!
Incredible food for a coffee shop, and top-notch coffee no matter what you order
Wery nice place to hang out but pricey i think
Cool setup. The drinks are really "creations" at this shop... amazing! I try something different every time I go. The staff have always been eager to explain exactly what it is the chefs are cooking up.
Well-made drinks and snacks with the right balance of craft, care, and cost
They have a few table seating right off the entrance. Then they have these staircase bench seating, that goes alongside the wall. I am not a huge fan of these seating style... We were lucky to get a small table all the way at the back. We each ordered a different kind of latte, and different kind of sweets. I asked the staff at the ordering counter how I can get a latte with latte art. He said “by asking for it.” Well, ok then. I ordered Houjicha Latte with something cute (animal). So he passed that message along to a barista, and he went to work! It came out adorable with twinkles in his eyes!!!! And the Houjicha was quite nice, strong flavor of real houjicha, sweet, rich, and high quality. It was a bit pricy cup of latte, but I really enjoyed it! My hubby went with Matcha Latte, and asked for holiday-themed latte art, and the same staff said they have snowman or tree. He asked for tree. Now, we were imagining Christmas Tree, right? But NO! It came out with some kind of a serious tree (LOL), but regardless, nicely done! The Matcha latte was strong in flavor too. More bitter than sweet. For the desserts, we chose Matcha Sundae and Matcha Cake Roll. Not huge and again, a bit pricey. Matcha Cake Roll was adorable, they put my hubby’s name on the plate without being asked to do so. I assume you could request them to put a special message if you wanted to. The only thing was that the cake was quite dry. We had a nice little latte time here, with high quality drinks and high quality desserts. A female staff came over a few times to pick up the dishes that we finished, while saying “not rushing you, just more elbow room” with a warm smile.
Japanese coffee shop with a limited snack/dessert menu. The seating can be best described as both eclectic and eccentric; stadium seating is available for the bold, while the safer option is to shoot for one of the few tables that is neither up on an uncomfortably high stage or next to the long snaking line.
I'm not sure if there was a mistake or if it's the coffee itself but I ordered an iced coffee and tasted it upon leaving and it tasted entirely like chemicals. I thought for a second maybe it was just really bitter more so than I'm used to but after a few sips it was completely undrinkable. It also smelled really strongly like chemicals, like a cleaner or something. I'm not sure what happened but I don't think I'll go back for a second time
I wanted to like it more than I did. The coffee was OK and the service was slow. There are other places I’d go that are around the corner.
Nice place, good breakfast and coffee
The best place to go for matcha, Keto and happy Monday!!
Friendly staff and amazing coffee. Try all their different types. Plus they have neat benches to climb on.
The only place in Boston that doesn't burn their espresso. Very friendly staff, and even when they are busy their wait times don't even compare to dunkin or starbucks.
Delicious and beautiful!
Simply outstanding. It’s by far the best oat milk latte I’ve had in any city, including Manhattan. For a café on the aptly named Milk Street, you’ll be pleased to know that dairy-free alternatives are available. The prices are definitely higher than most other, similar cafés, but the taste of the coffee surpasses all others. Unfortunately, we didn’t see any vegan food or pastries. The individual at the cash register was phenomenally friendly, which made up for the baristas being rather standoffish and not looking up to speak. I really enjoyed the latte and I can’t say it has any equal!
Great little spot
Delicious coffee and food options
Great place to stop in for an excellent coffee along with an easy meal.
It's a cute little place, tucked away. Love the atmosphere but it's a bit small for the traffic. Grand stands seating is nice to fit more people. Only complaint is that the hot drinks felt more lukewarm than hot.
Excellent product, and they have honey and maple syrup for your drinks! This place is one of my new favorite coffee places in Boston.
Coffee is good - I like to buy their beans and bring them home as well. This is one of those new-age coffee shops with things like a “deconstructed cortado” and overnight oats in mason jars. The avocado toast is bomb. It’s a small place but designed to have lots of sitting space, which is cool. They’re on the more expensive side, as expected, but they live up to the high pricing. Of all the fancy coffee shops to go to, this is one of my favorites. Also very well located.
Delicious coffee
Cute cafe with a wide selection of food (for a cafe) inclusive of traditional breakfasts and numerous toasts of their own creation. Including the stadium seats there is ample seating and they made a very solid Americano.
The coffee and food/desserts are amazing!!! I particularly like the stair seats, so you can sit high up and it also saves the space. One downside is that it closes so early. If you don’t live or work nearby, you can’t go during weekdays.
Beautiful done simple yet elegantly. As with anything Asian, the coffee is mild. Maybe too mild for my taste. But enjoyed my time there
Quite possibly the best coffee I've ever had. Nice friendly atmosphere too
Coffee is better than average for places on the US.
Awesome coffee!
This is a MUST stop for me every time I visit Boston. Ogawa makes the best, and might I add the most beautiful, matcha lattes I've ever had! The baristas really set the bar for beauty, care, and taste in drinks. The interior is fine, but not great. Stadium seating and small black tables that lack the ambience that would give this establishment a five.
Cute cafe in a nice part of Boston with simple but good breakfast choices. Nice vibe
