REVIEWS OF L'Aroma Cafe & Bakery IN Massachusetts

Demetrios Constantine

Cute little place! Lots of nice coffee, tea and food options. The lemon blueberry muffin was yummy, the chai latte with oat milk was phenomenal, but the avocado toast was a mushy avocado sandwich. Overall though, pretty good, decent prices, friendly staff, nice atmosphere. I think there was an upstairs that one could go to.

Chris Ferguson

Great little cafe hidden in a corner of Newton. Great coffee & amazing pastries. Coffee is the standards, but also very unique specialty drinks. Friendly and "family-like" staff feeling.

Liz Randolph

Fantastic food, loved the chicken curry sandwich and the Noccio Bella drink is amazing

Dede Booth

Friendly service and comfort. Awesome second floor with plenty of seating to find a quiet spot to read. I had gone just to kill some time while my car was being serviced. Not only was the service great, but as I was leaving it happened to be pouring rain, and an employee sensed I'd be walking and so ended up offering me an umbrella. One of the nicest gestures I've ever gotten, and a lasting impression indicative of how great the service is. I will definitely be going back here again.

john eckert

The pastries are good but every time I go in there is some kind of problem like employees start working on and finish orders for people who were behind me in line or I have to explain how to preheat a cup and have ended up with the water I used to preheat my mug, that usually has some of the previous cup of tea in it, in my fresh cup. They say they know what they are doing and that they did it correctly but you can watch them make the drink start to finish from the counter.

Nicholas Monroe

I really like this place. The coffee is very good (and reasonably priced), the service is attentive and polite, and the food is good as well. There is Wifi on the second floor and they reserve the first floor for eating/drinking/conversation only (which I appreciate). I recommend parking a block or so away though as their only parking availability is for "5 minute take-out" customers.

Lovely space upstairs to meet, read, have your coffee. I didn't care for the Nocciola +$4.25) but the atmosphere is wonderful.

Pratip Banerji

Cozy coffee shop with good coffee and reasonable prices. Plenty of seating upstairs and downstairs.

Sri Lankan cuisine is some of my favorite food thanks to this hidden gem -LAroma Cafe. I would have never guessed it. If you are considering stopping in, make sure to try the curry rice bowls (the lamb is my favorite) made by the patriarch of the family himself, and the Samosas hand wrapped by mom and garnished with this unique coconut concoction are to die for. When I first heard about this place they said it seems like everyone that walks in is a ‘regular’. 2 months and 15 meals later I kinda hear where they were coming from.

Kelly Mcfalls

The coffee was incredible

Wonderful food, a delightful blend of Sri Lankan bistro and chic cafe! A kind family owns and runs the place. Come to eat, to mingle, or to hang out and use the WiFi.

Cool, secret back alley coffee shop with good drinks. The parking situation is weird here, you go back down an ally and there’s only 5 min parking spots. The inside of the shop is very cool and two stories tall with lots of seating and cozy reading nooks. The coffee is pretty good and the staff is very friendly. I have not tried it but they do breakfast and lunch here and it looks like a good menu. Overall it’s a neat coffee shop and I’d recommend it.

Establishment kind of tucked away in the back. 1st floor cellphones not allowed, with aim for guests to enjoy each other's company. 2nd floor laptops/cellphones allowed, often used at length for leisure and/or studying. Efforts spent on food/tea/coffee, and not necessarily on the decor... and that's not a bad thing.

Robert Mirandola

My wife and I made our first trip to L'Aroma last week and were floored by not just the amazing menu (American comfort with a Sri Lankan twist) or the super comfortable environment, but also the helpful staff. Sinan (the owner) is cool guy, friendly, and passionate about delivering only the best experience for his customers! This place is definitely a hidden gem here in Newton! Thanks L'Aroma!

Vicki Muse

Awesome neighborhood cafe. The food is good, especially the chocolate chip cookies. YUM! I love their selection of teas and I don't drink coffee but I hear their coffee is great! It's a community spot with lots of local events. Friendly faces behind the counter.

debraj ghosal

Nice place, good food and coffee. They have a bakery but I haven't tried it yet. Good hangout place upstairs.

Greer Swiston

Great place to grab a coffee, work at home away from home. It's like a living room for rent ... without the rent! Complete with tea and pastries easily accessible!

Daniel Malara

Great little coffee house!

Wait too long for a cup of coffee

Danielle Furst

Coffee is reliably good here. They make a great espresso. My only complaint is the parking which is almost impossible.

L.A Kent

Kristin Paciorkowski

Cale Jordaan

The staff is great! Very friendly and polite. Tries to connect personally with their customers. The food and coffee are wonderful, especially their coffee! If given the chance you need to ask for the cold brew as they make it a very unique way to make it very smooth and full of flavor!

Eli Gelfand

Lovely locally owned cafe. Food and baked goods are terrific.

Jennifer Saylor

Excellent coffee and gluten free pastries too!! The ambience is inviting and the staff is wonderful. It's tucked behind but make sure you find this wonderful cafe!!!

Suzanne Robichaud

Great Veggie curry. Nice and spicy, cauliflower was great. Love the rice.

jon tobin

Cool spot hidden in West Newton. The baked goods look delicious and the coffee is cheap (and pretty good). There's wifi and a large room upstairs to chat with comfy loungy chairs and small, loelw tables. The layout is a little different, but functional. If you're looking to use your laptop, be prepared to put it on your lap

Jonathan Hakim

I have visited a few times - the coffee is high quality, the sandwiches and lunch are fresh and well prepared. Today I had a roasted veggie wrap that was very good.

Tyler Tuttle

Quaint local coffee & tea shop

Chuck Werber

Delightful, small European style cafe.

Karen Kenney

Yummy sandwich, attentive staff, all around great place.

Firoz Antia

I had a truly outstanding Sri Lankan lamb curry for lunch; home-cooked flavor that is not usually found at a restaurant.

David Parmenter

Best coffee in the village.

Timothy Killilea

L'Aroma Cafe is run by a local family and has the gift of being one of the only coffeeshops in West Newton Square. With a mix of both coffee, tea, and some lunch and breakfast items, you will be able to find many filling, and caffeinated, options. Prices for the beverages are on par with most coffeeshops, and they have a killer gluten-free corn muffin which has a taste comparable to the ones sold at another major chain located down the street. It is tough to find a place that sells a gluten-free corn muffin of that caliber. Other gluten free options are available as well. Cafe L'Aroma occupies a thoughtful space in the West Newton Square neighborhood. Hidden behind a bank, an adjunct police headquarters, some storefronts and beside a local theatre, there is ample space in its top floor for your business meeting or daily blog post. If you are looking to spend a few hours sipping and experiencing a neighborhood in Newton, try this spot. Don't forget to plan around all the other things going on in that little square, too!

vignesh radhakrishnan

The cafe has really good food options, ample seating and coffee/quick bites that I like. My only gripe is parking and the hours, which don't work for me when I'm in newton

Nathan Gallaher

Quick, personable service. Great atmosphere in a clean space.

J HH

Friendly family run

Rolando dcd

Best place in Newton... No no, in Massachusetts... No no no, in the USA!.

Paula D

Great service, nice array of options vegan friendly and gluten free food. Parking is a bit limited in the center, best bet is the street behind. And it’s a bit tucked in, next to the bank. Cute upper level for working and hanging out, comfy vibe.

Ron Bennatan

Terrible coffee. Threw away my latte.

Apolinaras Sinkevicius

Food is great. Seating options are asinine. You will see one person taking up whole table and you can't find one for your group to eat.

Hideya BenAbderrahmen

Disappointed. I came here to work. The staff is good, the place is not. When I walked in it smelled old --not what you'd hope a bakery would smell like. Pastry option are very limited for a bakery. Wifi would not work. So I came all the way here to sit, hemorrhage my data and eat a not very good breakfast. I gave it a 2 because the staff was good.

This place is a hidden gem! I can't recommend this place enough. Friendly staff, cool vibe/atmosphere featuring local artists, and plenty of room with an upstairs and downstairs to chat over a cup of coffee, or do some studying. The food is delicious and the coffee is great--not to mention, very reasonably priced!

Greg Portnoy

Jimmy Sbordone

There is a fantastic selection of teas and coffee to choose from, and the owner is incredibly eager to share his knowledge of the industry and help you choose one. The seating upstairs is very cozy, and on weekends there is usually live jazz music.

Chad Davis

Carolyn Mapes

Akfam and his staff are very kind. Their sandwiches are yummy, quiches are great, teas and coffees delicious. There are high-topped tables on the first floor (no electronics allowed); community tables, niches with comfy chairs, free wi-fi, and electronics allowed on the 2nd floor. Rentals of various rooms are available, and some live music at various times (separate rooms).

Drew Messinger

Very unassuming café located in West Newton with an excellent selection of pasteries, breakfast and lunch menus. I would call this place more of a hidden gem that offers a lot of space to work and is not as busy as most cafés in downtown Boston. Excellent staff and excellent food!

Billy Sofis

Good quality coffee--the owner really knows his espresso--and great baked goods too. Lunch fare is also high quality.

Paula Spies

If you are looking for a wonderful place to drink coffee or eat excellent scones, meet with friends, and meet the nicest owners L'Aroma is the place. My friend and I found it by accident, we came when local artists were showing their crafts. Since then I have been a huge fan.

I dipped into L'Aroma on a whim to see if they had Gluten-Free pastries and indeed, they did! I purchased an almond cookie to go that was divine- chewy and delicious!! The staff were kind and the upstairs sitting area is my favorite hide-away nowadays.

Yum yum yum! Fun and great bakery items. Full breakfast too

Nicolas Warren

They have a great relationship with their coffee provider, ask them about it.

Laura Derr

What a welcoming environment for visiting or studying over excellent coffee and healthy food. You just have park out on Washington St, no parking adjacent to their location.

Yvonne Alberts

Love the atmosphere, friendly service and the comfortable lounge upstairs for extended work

Mike Collins

I like this place as much as any of my Cambridge hangouts. There's a little alley on the Dunkin (east) side of West Newton Cinema. Park on the little side street toward the hill parallel to Washington if you can find a spot. Mellow tunes. Free WiFi. Compelling snacks and pastry. Homey and serene.

Callid Keefe-Perry

Horrid parking situation. Seems only viable to walk there or pick up. Not drive and park. Didn't even stay though I had planned to work there.

Ernesto Brau

Zach Hyman

Andrew Cameron

Excellent service, parking is confusing but well worth it.

Catherine Tate

Nice atmosphere and great baked goods. Coffee was a little on the weak side (maybe try an espresso drink rather than drip coffee). Pleasant, prompt service!

Vera Rubin

A great food, beautiful cappuccino.

Janet Porcaro

Best community gathering spot for great coffee, tea, and delicious home made food. Various on-going art displays. Perfect place to meet with a friend or get some work done in the upstairs gallery space.

Ahmed Siddiqui

Its nice quiet they have nice room upstairs for customers, coffee is great, the prices even better. In all its my usual saturday spot just sit there with a coffee and do work update: they renovated! but with that they removed the prices of each drink thus meaning it'll take extra time deciding, if you can please bring that back

Megha Mukim

Nice place to chill and relax. Good variety of tea and the bakery items were good too. They had some offer going on we got a tea free with the purchase of a bakery item.

Virginia Ewell

Friendly, warm plus great food, coffee, tea

Stephanie Cogen

What a nice place. Food, coffee, tea, bakery items (including gluten free) and super nice staff and owners. There is an art gallery upstairs of local artists, and the owners are community- minded and charitable. Parking is a little difficult

Chaitanya Joshi

Great coffee and food. I ordered a cappuccino and an avocado toast, both of which were quite good. The staff was nice. The atmosphere is pretty chill with a spacious upstairs space with nice chairs, tables and power outlets.

Billy Luce Jr.

Peter Kronberg

Always get a snack when I listen to Kathryn and Roberto perform.

Evelyne Hebrault

Wonderful place for breakfast with family or business meetings.Have. nice secluded place for quiet conversation .

Bob Persons

Pretty good menu, but $1.75 for one 2" chocolate chip cookie? I think not.

David Duchin

Very basic, but friendly, comfortable and conveniently located.

Andrew Young

Great little coffee shop. Proprietor loves what he does, and the location is very convenient for the West Newton commuter rail station. Be careful not to accidentally pull into the police station right next door, the entrance is confusing!

Jack Arsenault

Wonderful bakery. Large selection.

Vyrna Napoli

John B Casey

Great place to grab a coffee and danish or sit upstairs and chat. Free WiFi makes it a good place for online reseach or to stop and sync to the cloud.

Stephanie P

Great food, coffee, tea, and smoothies! One of a kind service. The best hidden gem in West Newton without a doubt.

Kamille Parker

Great yummy food and drinks. I had a good curry... Curry chicken something and it blew me away. Had just came from the airport and was in search of a good cafe. This was like my 3 option because I couldn't locate the others very well, but I'm glad that's how it turned out! Bathroom could use some more attention. It wasnt nasty, but it was... Interesting. Anyways go eat here!

Adam Kahn

The perfect coffee shop

You might feel a little too hard to find the parking spot but there were tons of the spots on the man road. I definitely recommend to the : Tea Lovers". Good selection of loose tea. Their pastry are good also. They have stools and high tables in the first floor, and comfortable couch with low table, office desk type seating etc... You can go for work, chat with your friends, relaxed reading time, have some tea with your child. Appropriate to any occasion!

William Rhein

Had to work remote from the office for a day and this was the perfect spot. Nice quite room upstairs with space to sit and work on laptop and the coffee and food below were perfect fuel.

Corey Garrison

I am a recent arrival in Newton. When I stepped into L’Aroma cafe & met the lovely Sri Lankan family that runs it & tasted some island fish curry, I knew we wanted to live in Newton.

Mim Mast

So fun atmosphere and delicious food, great place to meet family & friends.

Paul Kerswill

Cozy, but no parking except on local streets. Be prepared to drive around looking for parking.

Matt Lucas

Kimberly Carlson

Love everything about this cafe: the food, the people. Not to mention the gluten free treats baked in house. ♡

Linda Bloomingdale

A friend invited me to join her at L"Aroma, today. I had never been there. The service was very friendly and fast. We each enjoyed a cup of home made hot chocolate-the chocolate is melted fresh to prepare the hot coca. It was delicious and velvety and did not need additional sugar. I had the Apple-Walnut Muffin, not sugary ( I think it was gluten free-this is not an issue for me, so did not ask), my friend had the Almond Croissant-both were delicious. We sat in a lovely quiet space upstairs, with arm chairs and low coffee tables arranged for small groups. WiFi available -added bonus - the space is used to rotate local artists' work. Very pleasant. Will definitely return. Parking is a challenge, but L'Aroma is worth the challenge.

The Coffee Late is great, the Banana chocolate chip muffin is amazing! Good environment too.

Stan Lee Tan

Setting: It's two floors, decorated with work from local artists etc. and looks simple and clean. Host/owner is exceptionally friendly and accommodating. Great place for having a coffee or getting some work done. The place has great ambiance with soft slow jazz music. The owner does a ton of leg work in the cafe. Every aspect of it is kept clean and humble! Food & Bev.: $1 coffee if you bring your own mug. The food is also decent. Only slight issue is that the online menu is not up to date! Most of the stuff still exists but there have been slight changes. Location: As this is only my second time, I'm not too certain about parking but there is usually street-side parking. So it hasn't been much of an issue. The location is also a little bit hard to find as it's on a side road but it's right next to the police station and has big signs on the side of the building you can see when you get on the side road. Service: The service is impeccable. Friendly, helpful and always with a smile, even on busy days!

Matthew Dezii

This place is a favorite of mine. I work across the street, so I am familiar with their options. All the drinks are top notch, and the pastries are all done in-house and all delectable. I'm here at least once a week.

Andrew Wardly

Friendly staff. Great coffee and food
