This Coffee Shop is included in the category of Coffee shop.
Everything here feels like there’s a bit extra effort into them. Extra love and attention and in the coffee and pastries!! So fresh. Love the laid back vibe as well.
Stick to Dunkin donuts Overpriced and pretentious. Or maybe I'm just not cool enough to hang there....
Best matches latte.... just wish it wasnt $7 and tiiiiiiny
The coffee is very good employees are friendly. It just needs at little more personality
Excellent experience. Highly recommend
Good coffee, great customer service and fantastic ambience! Highly recommend this place for anyone who loves fresh brewed coffee/tea. Pictured here is the black tea and it was really smooth and tasty.
Good vibe but poor service
This is my new favorite coffee shop in the area. I'm certainly a coffee snob (in a good way) and this spot makes espresso and other beverages to excellent standards. On par with George Howell and Barismo for coffee, but with a nicer more open atmosphere. Great for Vegans as well due to oat milk options.
This place serves some solid coffee, has a quiet, peaceful atmosphere, and comfortable seating. Highly recommended.
Really expensive ok coffee that only comes in one size
If you love coffee this is not the place for you. The staff is very pretentious and treats their customers like they should have all the knowledge in the world when I just want a cup of coffee. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and tried them a few more times. Its very expensive and the coffee tastes burnt.. do NOT recommend. I am in support of all local owned places but really... there's a Starbucks around the corner that sells better coffee then they do.
This buisness doesn’t recycle, but serves all of their cold beverages in plastic cups. In the height of summer, I can’t even imagine how much plastic is being thrown into the trash at the coffee shop.
Hip atmosphere with good coffee and bakery items which feature local sourced ingredients. Fast wifi and friendly staff, a locals pick.
Wonderful new spot right on the town line between Cambridge and Watertown. It was pretty busy when we went but the drink was well worth the wait.
Love the coffee and the laid back vibe. This coffee isn't over-roasted like so many places, meaning you get smooth, sweet espresso. Also highly recommend the carbonated cold black tea. Trust me.
Very nice place
Pours an amazing cup!
The story begins in 1995 - a story not so different from many other entrepreneurs and dreamers. At the time, finding great tasting, fresh roasted coffee was surprisingly elusive. So, Doug Zell and Emily Mange decided to do something about it. They didn’t set out to change the world, just a small corner of it. Relocating from San Francisco, they opened their own coffeebar and retail store in Chicago’s eclectic Lakeview neighborhood. Roasting their coffee in-store, with equipment that was more antique than state-of-the-art, they honed their craft, seeking nothing less than perfection in every aspect of the experience. Little did Doug and Emily know that what started as a way to connect with people and the community in an intimate, personal way would blossom into something that would help shape an entire industry.
Exceptional modern coffee shop. I’m not the biggest fan of their brewed coffee but their espresso is phenomenal. The space is cozy but offers lots of seating. Pastries aren’t made in house but always fresh and delicious. Small parking lot but easy to find spots on Mt. Auburn.
I won't be coming back here. The coffee is OK, but not really worth the money, and definitely not worth the fuss the people who work here make of it. Some of them are weird, some are annoying, others are just plain rude. Not one of them actually makes you feel welcome. Like another reviewer said: it's like they're robots. I'd rather go to the lame Starbucks in the supermarket across the street, where at least I feel comfortable.
Very good coffee...the Americano I had was flavorful, robust and one of the best I've had. My cup of coffee was also brewed and served very thoughtfully. Highly recommend for an interesting coffee experience.
Don't expect a parking spot for a quick takeaway coffee, take away spots are regularly abused and not monitored/enforced. They should say 5-10 minutes max.
Great spot, usually pretty quiet with a small parking lot and ample street parking around too. Coffee is smooth!
Unremarkable food & coffee, but pleasant seating outdoors & in. Car entry, from Mt Auburn St only, requires tough & possibly illegal left turn from west.
Good coffee in a good atmosphere
Great place.
Some of the better coffee and tea around. Great shop in a less-explored location.
Wow! This may be the best non dairy mocha I've had in the Boston area! Creamy, chocolatey, with a nice bite of caffination! All for less than six bucks! Honestly, I can't think of a place I've had a better one off the top of my head anywhere. They use oat milk here and I'm a convert of the barista brand that they use (Oatly). Will definitely make a point of going here if I'm in the area, and maybe even going a little out of the way (especially as it's right across the street from Sofra, it's own worthy destination).
Best coffee shop in the Boston area.
I absolutely love their coffee. Great baristas who know what they are doing. Awesome merch and coffee making accessories. Very modern interior. Good good good. Good.
About the best coffee I've ever had in this country. Seriously. Don't let the name of the place dissuade you; no one's going to expect you to cite Hume or Descartes while you enjoy your capuchino and cookie
Fantastic location with onsite parking which really is unique. Incredibly customer service and baristas onsite who made 4 individual attempts at steaming the milk before they were happy to serve. I've never seen such dedication before. A truly excellent coffee and experience.
Highbrow. Rightfully so. Delicious coffee.
Good coffee, good service, good pastry, recommend it
Our barista, McKenzie, was amazing. She recommended the chai and it was great. Nice atmosphere , very clean with outdoor seating.
Excellent coffee & lovely atmosphere.
I am not sure what the big deal is here. My friend and I tried different items. I tried the cappuccino, which was over priced but ok. My friend tried the coffee which she really didn't like and didn't finish.
On the edge of Cambridge, a handsomely designed place for coffee, to meet with people, or to work by yourself. Staff are very pleasant and welcoming. Coffee is excellent, if pricey. Parking in their lot or on Belmont St.
Coffee is fine and if your looking for it to be paired with "hip" marble counters and open windows, then this is your place, but don't forget you'll be paying for it with $4 scones and other overpriced items.
Simple place, great coffee and great pastry
Excellent ambience and delicious coffee.
Cool spot and good espresso. I like the interior. Very quiet.
Great cappuccino. Awesome service.
A little pricy for coffee but so worth it once in a while
Great little coffee shop although it does get crowded.
The coffee is to die for! I got a latte and the barista was able to swirl the milk into a beautiful design. The menu was short and sweet but included everything from coffee and tea to locally sourced cider and sandwiches. It is not spacious and there were many seats occupied by people with laptops. Still it was bright, modern, and sleek.
Great coffee and coffee drinks (try the lime soda coffee), friendly staff, (some) parking, and trendy interior. Only reason why I knocked off a star is because they don't use natural process beans (those are the ones which can provide a very jammy taste).
I'm not sure if the coffee I drank is "coffee" or some what herbal medicine... Their coffee is terrible!!!! Besides, I don't understand why they sell those overpriced bakeries while they look really so-so.. I'll never come to this place again.
I’m willing to pay more for great quality coffee and bakery, but for the stuff I get here, it’s overpriced. Croissant is old and coffee is very small, and it takes FOREVER to make the coffee even when there were not so many people. Shop is sitting areas are pleasant, so I would still go occasionally for the atmosphere.
Nice, if simple, indoor and outdoor spaces, friendly, helpful staff, and great beans, espresso drinks, pastries, and apparently now, sandwiches from Russo's.
Good high quality coffee products. The place is neat and clean. Employees are good and " in tune." It is pricey though. 9/9/18 Again. Great quality. Coffee tastes so much better than DD or Starbucks. Croissants are just so so.
Coffee is good but way overpriced.
Great location. Croissants are superb
incredible cafe
Great chain serving excellent coffee. Good atmosphere and friendly staff that actually knows how to pull a good shot of espresso.
Great customer service and love their daily pour over selection. My personal favorite was a specialty $7 geisha ethopian
Great coffee prepared by people who care in a well designed inviting modern setting. Americanos’ and Iced Lattes’ prepared by Kris are especially delicious!
Can't wait for cafe to open. Excellent coffee.
Very good. Peaceful pricey
$4 coffee. $3 cookie. Both good but maybe only once in a great while. Attracts a unique clientele. Staff have been preprogrammed and don't realize how silly they sound to actual people.
Clean, classy place to grab a coffee. The outside is rather unassuming, but the inside is pleasant and enjoyable!
This place makes great coffee highly recommended
Has good coffee selection (no biggie, but no flavors, although mocha and simple syrup available), some baked goods, seating on either side (has some outdoor seating /benches as well) and great espresso (they froth properly-thankyou for that!), everything looks new. Products remind me of diesel and bloc 11 in Somerville. I took a star away for setup. It's very confusing on where to go upon entering, has doors from three different sides, staff seem frustrated with setup and narrow passageway where people are supposed to order and wait for their order to be ready. Can get crowded and a bit claustrophobic! Suggestions: larger menu, signs directing where to go, take names so orders do not get confused and maybe a couple of other different types of pastries.
I've only been here three times and ordered the same drink every time because it's so good: the iced matcha latte. The service is unbelievably accommodating. I asked for a glass of water and the barista asked if I wanted still or sparkling. Who does that? This place. It's awesome. Pricey, but worth it.
Ppp
Obsessed. Fantastic coffee in a cool space.
I had the best cappuccino here. They make it the right size so that the flavor is perfect, unlike many other places that use too much milk. Staff is very friendly.
Nice and little cozy place. The coffee, croissants and muffins are good, but a little expensive.
High end coffee and tea, with a variety of pastries. Strong hipster getrification vibe, much more of a Harvard Square feel than Watertown. Lots of electrical outlets for working.
Why
Coffee will be the only reason i go there again. Like other reviews have stated, people working there don't make you feel welcome. Limited seating and parking.
Coffee was alright but the place seems really passionate coffee and granted I got a more exotic coffee for my tastes. Also a really nice atmosphere for small groups.
Delicious coffee. A quiet place to do some work.
Tasty coffee, fast wifi - great place for a meeting or to get some work done.
Adore this little coffee house. Oatmilk, high design and great coffee
way over priced!!! $4 chocolate croissant (btw, nothing special), $3.5 for an earl gray black tea. I have had much better quality and for half price
My favorite coffee place in the world!
Intelligentisia wins the award for the most hipster place in the entire Boston area. It's has great atmosphere and very good coffee and is probably a great place to hang out with a friend or get some work done. It is certainly a welcomed addition to an area that has a shortage of good coffee shops.
Excellent coffee, busy place (which is a good sign), and nice atmosphere.
Enjoyed our drinks and visit here! Loved the atmosphere and the barista that we chatted with was nice. Will be back next time we're in the area!
These folks know how to make coffee
Visited twice. $5 for a coffee and $4.70 for a tea, if I remember right. $5 small sticky buns. Too expensive for what you get, for me. Often crowded, so maybe I'm missing something. The crowd also came with slow service.
This place is cozy with lots of nooks and crannies to sit in. The coffee is all hand made to order. This is not the place for a quick cup on the run but is a place to sit back an enjoy a craft coffee. There is plenty of parking and seating!
I was so pleased when this new coffee shop opened across the street from my Cambridge home. I quickly became an everyday guest. Christina, Art, Chris and the many other professional baristas have always made feel welcome and an important part of their workday. I happily recommend Intelligentsia, Watertown. They have a second location in Post Office Square which I was warmly invited to try. I’m a fan.
(Translated by Google) Intel Regency Café seems to have just arrived. It is located in the lobby of the building, so the atmosphere is luxurious and quiet. There is also an outdoor seat, so it would be nice to have a cup of coffee outside on a nice day. It is impossible to park separately and parking is difficult because it is in the city side. There is plenty of room to share the lobby of the building. There are comfortable sofa seats and bar type seats. The staff is kind and nice, but I'm sorry to say that I wanted to sprinkle cinnamon powder on the coffee, but not offer it. But overall atmosphere is very satisfied with coffee taste (Original)
One of my favorite coffee shops in the area. First - the coffee is excellent. Service is on the slower side, but nothing intolerable. They have a good amount of seating and decent wifi if you need to work, along with a bit of outdoor seating when it isn't cold AF in New England. They offer some pastries and other goodies if you need a bite with your drink. Parking is extremely limited, but you can get parking on Belmont Street if there isn't any available in the teeny tiny lot.
Very good coffee, truly. However, four bucks for a twelve ounce cup...NO WAY.
At first I was exited to finally have access to Intelligentsia locally as I had been ordering their coffee online for a few years. First, they don't sell the 5lbs bags they have behind the counter and could not actually give a reason for it. Second they rip you off selling 12oz Black Cat espresso 19$ instead of honoring their own online price of 15$. Never going back there. Zero star.
Nice spot to meet business contacts Could use small lunch sandwiches
The place has a very cool vibe to it and the coffee is amazing! Doesn't even feel like it is Watertown anymore.
Finally got to check out this coffee shop. Spot on with the espresso and pourover service. There limelight is interesting for sure with an acuired taste. A little on the steep end for prices but right in line for being a major city coffee shop. Worth the detour. Went home with two bags of beans and bunch of gear and an empty wallet, but totally worth it supporting a local and expanding coffee shop. The only reason I give this a 4 and not a 5 is because of the higher pricing. Ive been to some excellent coffee roasters in major cities with competitive pricing.
Great decor and ambience
Great coffee and service! Love coming here
Very good
Quality is good but it is way overpriced.
One of the best roasters out there!
Great coffee at perfect temperature! Super friendly staff. Definitely a new favorite for me :)
Good fresh coffee and chocolate drink. They also have Began muffins. Price is reasonable.
The best.
Excellent coffee and lovely space.
Excellent quality. Perfect beans and exceptional baristas make for consistently great coffee. They even took the time to chat about brewing techniques with me, to ensure I was getting the best brew. I love coffee and intelligentsia has earned my respect.
I've been to intelligentsia before (downtown), but this location is near my house. I got matcha lattes for myself and my buddy as I'm huge on matcha and it's hard to find a place that can make them well (Tatte and David's usually does a great job). While they were delicious, they were significantly more expensive (6.75 VS 3-4 at other places) and nowhere near as strong. A proper strength matcha has around 70-80 mg of caffeine, so you should get at least the same kick as a cup of coffee. My friend and I both looked at each other and realized that the reason why we could barely taste the matcha powder was because there may have been about half a teaspoon used instead of 1-2 teaspoons (usually 1) like there should be. We both needed the caffeine kick to continue on with our day and love matcha, but for the price we paid, we feel like we got ripped off. I'm sensitive to caffeine and I had to take a nap afterwards and ended up wishing I got coffee or an espresso instead. I won't be back. Sofra's is on the other side of this place. I highly recommend you go there.
Small coffee shop with WiFi. A good variety
I’ve been here a few times now. Last visit was pretty weird as I got an attitude asking for a straw which are now placed behind the bar. Coffee is a overpriced and honestly I have tasted better.
They consistently make great coffee
Great coffee. Pastries from Forge bakery are never a bad thing. Lose a star for only offering oat milk as the alternative milk choice, and the weird energy this place has.
Coffee and treats, no sandwiches. If you live in Cambridge the prices will be normal to you but if you're an outsider, the prices may be on the higher side.
Drinks were good but it's pretentious and over priced. The barista looked at my friend like she was an idiot for asking if they could add vanilla and if they had soy milk. It's definitely not for people who like anything complex in their coffee
Overpriced and nothing to justify the price, coffee is decent and the pastries are not great, way better options around
I got a cappuccino and chocolate croissant on a weekday morning. The coffee was good but the croissant was sadly stale and not flaky and light like a croissant should be. I mostly liked the ambiance and plenty of bright natural light in their seating area. They have outlets, WiFi and about 15 tables which became busy into the morning. The staff are friendly and I plan to go again for the ambiance and drinks.
Very tasty ☕
One of best coffees I had in a long time. Great service and the coffee is just amazing.
America's greatest coffee.
I'm a fan on Intelligentsia and was happy when I found their second location in the Boston area. This one is so different from the one in the financial district, yet has such a cool vibe as well. Coffee is good as always, service fast and friendly, they also sell pastries and some merchandising. There's seating inside and a few seats outside. It can be easily overseen from the street, watch out for the sign (picture). Nice spot to get some caffeine in your system on a trip to Fresh pond or Mt Auburn!
Best latte in the Boston area. Great pastries as well, especially the sticky bun.
A really cute place to hang out and/or work on your computer. And they have outdoor seating!
Cozy spot tucked away off the road. Parking out front. Clean, modern bar with artful coffee and pastries. Of the big coffee chains, intelligentsia reigns supreme, in my opinion. And this may be my favorite spot of theirs I've tried.
Excellent, first-rate espresso. One of the few top-notch coffee shops in the Boston area.
Herbal medicine tastes better than their over priced coffee.
This place has incredible coffee and it’s strong. It takes a lot for a coffee to give me the caffeine jitters, and this coffee gets it done!
Love their trade policies and have been an intelligentsia supporter for years before they landed in Boston, but the expense of their menu is unjustified, particularly with such inconsistent baristas. They have have nailed their aesthetic, sure, wifi, few lines, great. But show me the numbers on how those 8 dollars that went to a (lukewarm, chunky, and distinctly unfragrant) matcha and similarly priced latte are making their way to producers as opposed to getting funneled over to Intelligentsia's expansion. How about investing in demonstrating that supporting direct trade and sustainable farming does not require one belong to a narrow income bracket?
Visited this chain in Chicago a few years back - Super happy to see them in Boston. They have picked a cool location there, with good parking and nice set up of bar+cafe tables.
Not surprisingly I normally write reviews when something is excellent or terrible. A family member had mentioned it seemed cool and I should check it out. Let me explain why I found this place terrible. The layout is awkward with "some" seating on either end of a long bar but a very tight corridor the length of it where you order, wait for your order(wasn't sure) and have to remain vigilant of servers and customers passing by. Ok so whatever, the layout kind of sucks. But the real reason for the review was when I walked up to the bar area, no one else was around ordering. A barista stood 3ft in front me waiting for a drink to pour, and just didn't acknowledge me. I finally asked, "where do I order?" She just pointed to one end. Ok, not super friendly. The menu is what it is. I got the cheapest thing $3 expresso. I gave a $1 tip. I waited about 4mins as there was 1 order/2 drinks ahead of me and stood in the awkwardly tight area in front of the bar. Finally the drink was ready. The same barista from before presented my $3 espresso to go in a mini Dixie Cup, no top. No "thank you", no "have a nice day", no eye contact. Look, I'm not hating to hate, I just like the good places to get the proper credit they deserve. This is not one of them. Oh yeah, the espresso wasn't very good either.
Poor customer service unfortunately. I'm a young lady w a foreign accent. I live in Watertown in past 7 years. I went to Intellientsia on a Saturday morning, and after I saw the pastry menu asked do they have any other menu. Instead of getting answer like" this is what only we have" bald guy at the cashier said for hot sandwiches "Go across the street". Boom! Well I responded and said: I heard about Intelligentsia lot, would like to try it out because pictures and videos pops up on my instagram all the time. It was my first time in this place and I live in the neighborhood but now I have no interest going back. I'm not sure why he said that. I feel like there is low respect to people with accents sometimes and especially this gets worse towards women. Place has a nice decor-very contemporary, but food selection is limited. Nice place to meet with a friend for coffee.
Great coffee, nice and open space.
Rude staff.. overpriced on everything.. very claustrophobic small place..
Intelligentsia Coffee have got delicious croissants and scones tasty coffee & espresso drinks, good service! And the location is wonderful.I recommend this place.
Love the design of this coffee shop, love the friendly barista, love the outdoor tables, love the coffee. Not much not to like here (unless you were raised on Dunkin, and then the coffee may be too strong for you.)
Very good coffee in a nice atmosphere, but extremely expensive- even for a pour over.
Well-made espresso drinks, with artistic foam patterns, good coffee with just the right amount of bitterness .
Mm Mm Mm. Yes. I used to mail order this Midwest based company's coffee and I'm so happy they are now local. They really know their coffee and the optimal roasts to bring out the features of each type of bean. They have great pastries. The cafe has a cool vibe with a good mix of people, young and old.
Intelligentsia is a nice local coffee shop. The wifi was strong, the seating was comfortable, and coffee was pretty good. Only been there once so far.
Overpriced and misanthropic
Love their industrial layout of the store.
Coffee is fine, a tad overpriced. But they buy their pastries from Forge in Somerville, which is the real draw to the restaurant in my opinion. Limited seating to do work - fills up pretty fast.
Very nice new addition to the neighborhood..!!
Good latte and an unusual ginger scone. Crowded on a Saturday afternoon.
THIS RANKS RIGHT UP THERE WITH OTHER NOTIBLE 3RD WAVE COFFEE EMPORIUMS LOVE THE CAPPUCCINO HERE GREAT AROMA TASTE TEXTURE ITS A FOOD WHEN BARISTAS LIKE ART, & LINDSAY, CREATE ONE. ALL BARISTAS ARE HIGHLY TRAINED THIS IS A TRAINING CENTER AFTER ALL GREAT OUTDOOR SEATING AMPLE TABLES INSIDE VERY COMFORTABLE, CLEAN, FRESH, LOOK & FEEL HANDICAPPED ENTRANCE PLENTY OF PARKING. LATTES AND CAPPUCCINO ARE FLYING OFF THE COUNTER WITH SOME NICE LATTE ART WORK SPEAKING OF ARTISTS A VERY TALENTED BARISTA WAS JUST HIRED WELL KNOWN TO THE AREA KRISTINA UNDER THE TRAINING OF A GREAT COMPANY SHE WILL HAVE A DOCTRINE IN COFFEES AND THE WHOLE SCIENCE BEHIND IT. ENJOY BEEN THERE A DOZEN TIMES ITS GREAT
Love the coffee here!
Great coffee
Great tasting coffee. They used to be more full service, now they don't bring you cream when you get a coffee, you have to get up and go to the bar. Seems silly and lacking in customer focus.
Awesome addition to the Boston coffee scene!
Over priced & pretentious. I regret my purchase. It's coffee, enjoyed by real people across the Earth. It is an equalizer, a common love shared by many. The soul of coffee is missing from this coffee company
Best coffee shop in town. It is fairly pricey, but they have a great dirty chai. Also, I recommend they get a microwave or something to heat up their pastries.
Amazing coffee, pricey muffins and cookies!
Ok coffee... but there are better places in Boston area. The prices higher than the quality. For example, I just had a $4.50 chocolate croissant which has clearly not been made this morning, and it's only 9am...
Very good coffee and baked goods. Good for a conversation or quiet time with your laptop (free WiFi). Expensive, though.
Beautiful little modern Chicago-based cafe that utilizes the perfect blend of espresso beans. Definitely the best in Cambridge
OMG what a delicious cappuccino I had!!
Friendly staff but it just seemed like over priced coffee and I felt that new coffee shop awkwardness. Probably won't be going back.
My fav coffee place! love it. Never let me down.
best coffee I've ever had-excited to see them expand to MA
Delicious coffee, nice staff. Even a tiny parking lot.
Busy... No seats available. No parking available. I wouldn't bother next time. Unless you are by yourself for a quick coffee.
Lovely people, yummy coffee, comfy quiet spot to work for a few hours.
Nice atmosphere, ok coffee
Coming from the Midwest this was a very welcomed surprise to come upon! To top off the phenomenal coffee Intelligentsia always has this location has at least one phenomenal barista in Christina! She was not only extremely friendly and helpful she actually likes her job. Come in here and get some great coffee and meet this great staff! Great indoor and outdoor seating! Great selection of drip or hand pour coffees! Espresso drinks will also be sure to make your coffee hopes comes true.
Nice open layout, comfortable atmosphere but I cannot stomach the coffee. It is soooo ACIDIC. The staff is highly trained and take their time preparing even basic brew. By the time it reaches the table its cold and NO discounted refills. The one size regular brew or iced coffee they have is quite expensive and again not great tasting. The pastry, however which is a seletion of about 4 is delicious. it is outsourced from the bakery Forge. Like a previous reviewer mentioned, the staff are nice but robotic. Black and white responses and as though they were trained to respond exactly a certain way. I hate that. Anyway, if you like acidic artisinal coffee and ok with portion, go for it. The atmosphere is relaxing, modern and pastry worth the trip if theres any left. I am a coffee snob but so disappointing this coffee and tight wad mentality of this establishment.
