Good coffee. Good vegan banana muffin. Good table. Good chair. Good job.
Miss this place. Used to go all the time when I lived near porter. A little pricey but delicious and very balanced drinks there. The baristas know what they are doing.
Not amazing, not bad. The staff were fairly short, boarding on rude. The coffee is strong and good. Lots of seating and plugs to charge devices, good for studying. Prices and service make me unlikely to return.
Excellent coffee, fun atmosphere, conveniently located right near Porter Square!
Hip place to go for breakfast or lunch has a good vibe with unique food and Specialty coffee.
Really good coffee and environment
It is awesome that their coffee is fair trade! I go there when I need a pick-me-up before class. I love the atmosphere and the people :)
The venue and coffee is pretty awesome. A lot of available spots for working with your laptop!
Great place to work or relax. Their coffees and teas are really nice as well as their pastries and smoothies. Make sure to check out the Tokai, Japanese shop, while you're here.
Good study spot! Plenty of seating, WiFi, and good music. Really love the authentic decor and classic coffee shop atmosphere. Plus all of their coffee is proudly sourced from small farms in Rwanda. Everything I've tried here has been excellent! Just make sure to specify you want a mug if you're staying, since they give our paper cups by default
Nice little coffee shop, quick service, good atmosphere.
Excellent coffee, nice atmosphere, nice baked goods.
Good quality coffee and other beverages. Staff is hit or miss
Good coffee and not too pricey, but every time I go the wifi is so slow that I switch to tethering from my phone.
Bourbon Coffee is the only place I will go to work on my papers. Excellent people providing excellent coffee. The physical space inside the cafe is open and the environment and atmosphere are amazing!
a great all around coffee shop. Its not the best you will ever have, but its definitely a few steps above average. Espresso drinks a good and they have a large menu of other drinks as well. This location has ample seating and two hours of free fast internet.
My wife and I ate breakfast at Cafe Tuesday and Wednesday this week. The restaurant is small and at 7:30 AM, when it opens, very quiet. The service is excellent, almost joyful. Every request was cheerfully delivered. In fact, the high quality service goes a long way to making breakfast here a real pleasure.
When you need coffee, and you're standing next to Bourbon Coffee, I'd say it's a pretty good chance you'll be pleased with it. Sort of a new joint (I'm the first reviewer, for chrissakes), but the coffee list is extensive, its very spacious, its pretty well-attended, and the coffee ain't crap. Done deal.
Nice little coffee shop. They were fairly knowledgeable about gluten and dairy allergies and very willing to accommodate with their drinks. Didn't try any of the goodies there because they are harder to make gluten free for celiac people.
Nice place
Love the decor, the friendly staff and of course the eats and drinks. My favorite is when I am able to sit in the comfy arm chairs and sofas. I take friends here often and they always feel like I'm taking them to my own living room. I also like the lighting. Very intimate and colorful. Feels very private.
Nice atmosphere and selection of drinks but few sugar-free options (even the almond milk is sweetened) and overpriced.
Coffee and food was great, however employees were not the friendliest. I will likely come back, tho.
A coffee place!
An excellent location for great coffee, teas and snacks the sandwiches are really good, pastries are good too. Friendly atmosphere, productive feeling while you meet or catch up there.
Bourbon is one of my favorite cafes in Cambridge (I think iyo in Davis may be its only rival). It has plenty of space to work or chat - abundant outlets as well as comfy couches and tables. Their coffee is a little above average with some variability in quality. Their vast, fresh bakery selection and ample seating sets them apart from most cafes in Cambridge. Wifi is free, and in the year I've been a patron of Bourbon (since Dec 2013), I've never had to buy or use a card for WiFi.
apparently they dont serve food an hour before closing... why stay open then? Staff was cleaning up at 7pm when the store closed at 8pm and was not happy about me being there. wont be going back.
Delicious!
Fast service, plenty of space to work
Food is awesome! Just wish it could be a little faster.. they are awesome though.
Great pastries but coffee is horrible - could only taste milk and water in latte.
Bad customer service with no smiling , asked for decaf and got regular coffee. Never go back
Good coffee, all from Rwanda which is amazing. In the spirit of fall I tried their Pumpkin Spice Latte it's quite good, not as sweet as a Starbucks one but I'm sure they could add something to it if you wanted to make it sweeter. Very large space, lots of places to sit and many power outlets.
Went out of my way to come here because the listing said they were closing at 9 but when I get there at 8 I'm told they're closing up and that they can't serve me and posted hours are wrong.
Cozy coffee shop.
I wasn't a fan of my coffee here. I do appreciate that it's all fair trade coffee beans and a good place to work on a couch with wifi for a bit in a campus center.
If you like coffee that is not bitter or sour, like we do, then this is your place! We had two-shot Americanos and they were very smooth and delicious. Service was great, interior is modern and welcoming. Lots of seating including comfy chairs and a sofa. Highly recommended!
Better than Starbucks in every way. Not on par with the third-wave hipster places like Simon's, Barismo, Barrington, or Pavement. This applies across the board: the roasts, the barista skills, the food, the ambiance. If you are in this neighborhood and Simon's is not open, come here. If you have to catch a train, come here. If you go to Lesley, you will go here. If you want comparable quality from a locally-based, non-chain establishment, Cafe Zing in Porter Square Books is a good shot. They pull them, you know?
Great store. Fun vibe, delicious drinks. Lots of space to sit.
Yummy bagels and smoothies! Great atmosphere for studying, catching up on work or with friends. Chai tea is also bomb and they have a lovely staff
We only got a couple of lattes and they were fine. Nice wood interior, but nothing else that screamed uniqueness to differentiate it for me. Would go back if in the area, but would not seek it out.
Very pretty inside. The honey cinnamon latte reminded me of cinnamon toast crunch cereal, but it wasn't crazy sweet.
Cozy and convenient place
Stopped by here on a cold day to get a latte. I was a little happy and also a little disappointed. Let's see why! First, the cafe is attached to a university, can be easy to miss if you're driving by. The ambiance is quite nice. It was a sunny day, even though it was freezing outside, and sun rays were shining on the chairs by the window. Looked so inviting! Many chairs and tables especially if you want to sit and work. And that's precisely what a lot of people were doing. We wandered around and stood for a good 15 minutes before a couple seats opened up. Went up to the counter to get me a latte. I had a few questions regarding the flavors. Every one of these lattes used artificial flavors, nothing house-made. Sob. So I decided to get the honey cinnamon one (they use actual honey and actual cinnamon, yay). I told them it was for here, but the cashier still picked up a paper-plastic cup. This may seem like a small thing but we're trying to minimize our trash in all of our actions. So I found it strange that even though I explicitly mentioned it was for here and they have ceramic mugs, I was going to be given coffee in a cup which may as well last for eternity on this planet. Anyway, I'm glad I could request the cashier again that I want it for here in a ceramic mug, please. The latte itself was okay, I wouldn't go out of my way to visit. Also, not a single smile during this whole encounter, from start to finish. Pro tip: It looks like there is free parking out back but it doesn't belong to the cafe. However, there is metered parking on the street or a paid parking lot out behind the university.
Get the warm horchata! Hidden gem!
Great atmosphere, good coffee and food selections, WiFi and lots of cheap parking behind it.
If you like sugar and milk then you'll like the lattes here ... I couldn't really taste the coffee at all. Maybe stick with espresso or drip coffee. That said, there's not a lot of good coffee places in Boston, anyway, so this place is no worse than the others. On the upside, they have free wifi and a lot of seats - although on a Saturday afternoon it was completely full. It's half a block away from the Porter Square stop so it's easily accessible.
Great espresso! There's a lot of tables to study and there's a lot of milk options
What a fantastic find! I used to go to Bourbon Coffee when I lived in Rwanda & was so happy to see it at Porter Square. Great coffee, comfortable space and really friendly staff.
Good cafe to sit and work with a decent selection of baked goods and drinks. Ample seating so it's rarely impossible to find a seat and a number of outlets.
Chai was fine. Decent amount of workspace. Ambiance was nothing special but gets the job done.
Excellent coffee, pastries, food, atmosphere, people. Only complaint is that their wifi is terribly unstable and flickers on and off to a maddening degree, so it's near impossible to get work done if you need wifi. If you don't, it's the perfect place.

Nice little cafe right next to Porter square
I have to say that I was not impressed with the coffee, but ambiance is great, and background music selection was superb!
A wonderful place to unwind. Great staff and great coffee.
This place is fine. Like aggressively fine. Not good enough to stop for, good enough to avoid going to the Pete's thats opening up across the street.
Coffee shop with good coffee and a nice atmosphere. It is a little difficult to find and if you plan on parking out back make sure you get a receipt to validate it.
Great coffee, the pour over is very flavorful, they use Rwandan beans. Great sandwich and light pastry selection. Good cafe spot to work, as well.
Has great coffee, reasonable prices, a great atmosphere and boardgames you can play. Highly recommend
Great smoothies. Great seating areas.
It has a really warm and welcoming atmosphere and it's really good to work at. the light inside of the cafe is nice as well.
Great service and breakfast food
Great coffee and food and great service! Will continue to frequent this location even when Cafe Nero opens across the street. I always prefer a smaller place to an international chain!
Bourbon Coffee is a cool spot. Right next to Lesley University, it's a great place to stop by if you are a student there. They have a decent selection of coffee and food, and I really enjoyed their breakfast sandwich. I liked the seating, especially the larger wooden table - although my sister got a splinter sitting on the bench, so watch out for that.
Great coffee. Free internet (a lot of places in Cambridge charge for internet - a growing trend which I despise). Plenty of seating at nice, big wooden tables. Friendly staff. Pastries look good, but I did not try yet.
a cozy cafe that still has comfortable casual seating. Steps from Porter Sq.
decor feels kitschy. service is good, though.
Great coffee, friendly staff, love the decor. I could see myself coming here and setting up shop for the day.
The best iced coffee and pastries/bagels with quick service. It is reasonably priced, the atmosphere is relaxed with comfy seats, but there are a lot of students and WiFi hoggers, can be difficult to stay and sit sometimes.
Bourbon is a warm, tranquil establishments tucked away in Porter Square. There are amble tables and chairs to sit, and cute decorative couches in one corner. I've gone on weeknights and during the day on weekends. I never encountered a line longer than 5-6 people, which is a plus! They have unique seasonal lattes, like the lavender latte, which is delicious. I could spend a day here on one of those couches, reading a nice book.
Triple espresso machiatto had no milk and was not even the volume of a single espresso shot. When we asked the staff if this was the correct order for a $5 Triple espresso macchiato, they said "That's right. I don't know what to tell you. These are our prices" and continued mumbling under their breath. Needless to say, we will not be returning.
Really friendly staff, wonderful coffee and smoothies, and excellent space to work or sit and relax. Very highly recommended!
Nice and comfy seats and free wifi
Great coffee, working space and nice atmosphere!
A nice addition to the Porter Exchange after a long- awaited opening. I'm not a coffee drinker, but their chai lattes and Arnold Palmers are my favorites. I have yet to try any of the baked treats on display, but they do look delicious. I wouldn't camp out here for a while, but like Shannon said, it's a good place to stop by and grab a coffee.
Good hot sandwiches, especially grilled cheese deluxe. Coffee is also good, but little bite sour flavor.
Mmm coffee
Very civilized. No paper cups when having coffee in-store.
Trashy, not a good selection of snacks/pastries, horrible drinks cheaply served in paper cups (even if to stay) and unfriendly staff. Disappointed
Very busy, a little too loud to work
Pretty average coffee. Service is the main drawback here. Very unfriendly and cold service at the counter, borderline rude. Also caught them passive aggressively calling patrons a-holes very loudly because they didn’t take their coffee cup up to the counter when they left.
Great pace to go for a well made cup of coffee. They have seasonal selections as well which is nice, as well as very good sandwiches and baked goods. However, the prices are inflated, most likely stemming from their fair trade coffee. Which isn't a bad thing, fair trade is good. But being located inside a University campus, this is more a place to go for an "every-now-and-then" fix where you can spend 8 dollars on a medium coffee and a sandwich. But if you visit this location daily, you will quickly find your bank account suffering.
I've had a mocha and lemonade here and both are delicious. I'm usually here with a group of 5+ for a comics meetup and the staff is super accommodating and friendly.
Fun, super friendly staff and ambience. The music can be anywhere from pop to classic rock to dance music in one day. Great place to get a coffee and a sandwich as well as grab a seat and jump on your laptop as well. Or if you don't have time for a sandwich, just grab a pastry and they'll warm it up and give it to you faster than you can pay. Awesome hot summer day stop too, smoothies and iced coffees and teas, as well as delicious specialty iced drinks. If you're in the area for a bite or looking for a quick coffee and snack for the road, this place is perfect.
Too good for tongue and eyes
To be honest, all coffee tastes the same to me, so I'm not going to make any judgments about my ice coffee, which tasted like ice coffee. I was planning to spend the whole afternoon here doing work, but my time was limited to 2 hours. Their internet policy is not a Wi-Fi free-for-all a la Starbucks. With every purchase, you receive a little card that has a personalized password for the Wi-Fi connection, and you are limited to two hours before your connection runs out and you have to buy something else to procure yourself another little card. I think this policy is annoying, greedy, and completely unnecessary. I'll buy what I want when I want, and I don't like having the coffee shop dictate my purchases. Coffee shops are meant to be cozy places where you can sink in to a comfy couch or armchair to read, write, or have a chat. Knowing that the shop had quantifiable expectations of me (regarding purchases under time constraints) made it difficult for me to feel completely comfortable here.
Great coffee and great pasteries. Morning done!
Great comfy coffee shop with abundant outlets and fast wifi. A huge variety of delicious drinks and large sandwiches.
Good tea selection and great bagels.
Good atmosphere, good coffee, perfect for studying or meeting someone
Pleasant coffee shop with a lot of room to work or read. A little weird how its basically tucked into a mall, but it works.
OMG I'm blown away by the taste. Talk about a cupfull of awesomeness. :)
Great coffee and pastries
Amazing food, very clean, great service
This place ran out of eggs... at 10am. Not really sorry about it, I had a spinach croissant the I was proposed to have warmed but too warm to make it enjoyable. I won't stop again
Love this coffee shop! The Amaretto Dream + Pistachio and Cream lattes are personal favorites, and the latte art is awesome. Not a recommended spot to work out of... if your work is mostly online (wifi is free for 1 hour only), but great spot to grab a coffee with a friend.
Love the coffee! Large space and while it's busy the line goes quick.
Great place to work. Friendly and welcoming staff, private bathroom, great coffee, plenty of tables and room to use a laptop.
Great staff, nice light roast
Nice independent coffee place
Quiet and great coffee!
Wonderful selection of baked goods, sandwiches and tasty coffee drinks. Absolutely love Bourbon they are my go-to place for a quick pick-me-up when I am at Lesley for class. The staff are always helpful and friendly, too.
Honestly one of the best cups of coffee I've had in my 51 years of life!
an interesting assortment of beverages both hot and cold. super friendly and knowledgeable staff. plenty of places to sit and plug your devices in should you need to get some work done.
Ideal coffee shop
Great Coffee
Really nice place to get a delicious coffee and baked goods, then work comfortably without feeling like they don't want you there or like their looking at you as if you've been there too long for just one cup of coffee.
Latte was very good, as well as the chipolte chicken sandwich (more like a pinini)
Very good place.
Here every monday morning and love the delicious drinks. Purple Rain is a favorite as is the mexican hot chocolate!
Good coffee and baked good. Not remarkable, but a solid cafe.
Purple rain is delicious
Pretty good
Nice coffee and friendly staff. Smelly.
Very friendly staff, and a decent cup of coffee.
My go-to working cafe. Great fancy coffee drinks
A bit expensive but very good coffee and smoothies!
It's similar to a Starbucks, but an independent coffee shop. Very good coffee drinks and related foods. Nice, cozy ambiance. Some comfy casual seating. I would choose it over Starbucks. Great place to bring a laptop, our to meet up with a friendfriend.
Excellent coffee, nice people.
Rude service and slow.
Great pour overs plus some other funky drinks
The décor in the front of the shop was nice. The staff were doing the best they could to process the orders quickly.
