First time there. Had the delicious veggie omelette. Best food I have had in a long time. Quality ingredients including quality cheeses. Nice croissant. Yummy side salad. You can get the breakfast menu all day. Really nice environment with art on the wall. Comfy seating. Coffee smelled amazing but I was already caffeinated on arrival. Near Silver Spring metro, the library, and the more corporate places of Ellsworth. A little to far to be my "local", but I will try to get here every time I am in downtown SS.

Great! Zed is a very nice Ethopian man who always greets me when I come into his cafe. The food is great and the drinks are amazing. You should go there when you have a chance to pick what cafe/restaurant you should go to! Amazing!

Unlike the typical trendy hipster coffee shops, this place has more of a home/hipster feel. Great place to chill, grab a coffee and checkout artwork from local artists.

Nice place, but don’t plan on studying there if you like being able to see your books. Lights are shut out promptly at 5:30 with no notice and no exceptions. Even if there are no patrons there who want the lights off. Even if you ask them to keep them on but dimly. You’ll be directed to a (hopefully open) tiny corner table in the room where there’s a small reading lamp. I cut my losses and left and went to Kaldi’s. They actually keep the lights on there.

I come here couple of times a month to have a coffee and apple pie and work in its calm environment. The WiFi is great. If I'm not in coffee mood, they also have a selection of loose leaf teas and I'll go with one of them. The people working here are always smiling and polite. Restroom is clean and drinking water is accessible.

Do you like the think that the ideal coffee shop is simply an extension of your living room? I certainly do and Zeds is that place. Far and away the friendliest and most charming place to while away the time it takes to drink a cup coffee from real ceramic cup ( no two the same it seems ). Have a slice of apple pie with whipped cream and strawberries on top ( a rare pleasure but worth it ). Plenty of places to lock your bike out front and car parking in the back if your driving down the alley.

I love this cafe, I come here for the food and atmosphere. It has a cute quirky vibe to it. I would suggest coming here in the early morning durning a weekday otherwise there will be a line. The coffee is good but the food out shines it.

The place offers great teas and coffee... But it's just too packed. The live music is like an event and is unavoidable in this tiny tiny space. I understand that is what they are wont to do but it's just a little off. If you can find a spot to chill it is great.

Amazing mellow atmosphere with delicious coffee, lattes, and espressos!! It really feels like sitting in a casual lounge where you can hear the most interesting conversations. Everything about the space is eclectic from the furniture to the dishes :) The food is made and served with love and is simple yet delicious (dont expect a super fancy meal.) The apple pie is worth a taste though for sure. Highly recommend you stoo by and give it a shot :)!

Zed's is a nice little hole in the wall. The atmosphere is unique and comfortable. Great place to meet up with a friend in the morning for brunch, or a study session, or both. I recommend the chicken salad or the quiche. Also, first time visitors get a free cookie.

Window sign says open, and it's 7:58, but the door is locked and there is no one inside. Apparently Google has the hours incorrect because as I was about to drive off (from the conveniently located, but unfortunately metered, street parking out front) an employee arrived and opened the door and began setting up sidewalk seating. The chai latte come from a pre-made mix.

Love the intimate living room atmosphere. I've also seen some cool unique groups perform here. I come here often to do some late night studying; definitely a cozier environment than the nearby Kaldi's if you're looking to focus. I don't think the coffee is anything special (though serving sizes are big), but the atmosphere is enough to take me back.

A solid 3. My wife's coffee was good, but my latte was just okay. Nothing to write home about. I was a bit annoyed because they didn't have simple syrup for the iced latte. Simple syrup is such an easy thing to have at a coffee shop. The decor is very eclectic. Everything seems a bit mismatched. The one cool thing it had was the mugs the coffee came in were very unique. There is free WIFI but it isn't the strongest.

Silver Spring is blessed with a great selection of independent cafes and coffee shops. Zed's is one of them; it's a cozy and intimate place that offers coffee, sandwiches, omelettes, salads, snacks, and free wi-fi. Its a great place to hang out for breakfast, lunch, or a light dinner. If you have a bigger group, Kaldi's around the corner is a better fit, but the food at Zed's is better.

“One big living room” And I’ll never not be craving their smoked salmon sandwich meal! Such a quirky friendly space with great vibes for meeting friends or getting some work done. And the food is some of my favorites - the focaccia bread, side salad, and chips... you can even get it to go. In a heavily populated area for food and coffee choices, I hope you don’t miss this lovely loving place.

A homey cafe with unique and diverse decorations. Stepping into the cafe for the first time, customers will feel like they're entering the living room of someone well-traveled displaying a collection of their adventures. They also have some books on shelves for people to read and I spotted a number of art books to my delight. They also have art by local artists on display and for sale. They use fresh ingredients for their food and they have a breakfast and lunch menu. They also now serve alchoholic drinks! An instant favorite for creatives, introverts and coffee lovers alike.

Silver Spring is blessed with a plethora of independent coffee shops. Keffa's cafe(s) are justifiably famous, and Kaldi's has an excellent kitchen and space. If you like paying more than you should, Bump n Grind is a good option. But Zed? Zed makes his café special. One big living room is the motto, and he has made it live up to that,. He and his staff are always friendly and if you turn up often enough they will take the time to know you. The kitchen offers a reasonable selection at a reasonable set of prices and the pastries are second to none. I recommend the iced tea, but they have a decent selection of hot teas. Apparently, the espressos can be a bit hit and miss, but I've never been unhappy. Prices are set and I've never seen more than one size, but you get a fair sized cup for your money. Easily comparable to Starbucks or Peets, our two local chains. While I've never seen it at its busiest, there are rarely more than one or two staff present. The staff bring your drink and food to the table, which can slow things down at a lunch crowd, but the feeling of relaxation is good enough to make up for a wait. There is wifi and curbside parking, and hidden in back a lovely outside seating area. Currently overlooking construction, but c'est la vie.
