This is my favorite place to grab a cup of coffee on the Avenue. Their hummus bagels are also a must have. Great vegan options for lattes and sandwiches.

Seattle vibes, world’s best muffins, pouring ceremony coffee - not usually a line on weekday mornings before work. Fast but relaxing way to grab a treat to start the day.

This has been my go-to coffee shop for years. Always staffed with fast moving, friendly people. They always have a nice food selection complete with fresh baked goods and great smoothie options.

Absolutely love this place, from the addictive Dirty Chai to the gluten free muffins that don't make my intestines explode on contact. Seriously they have to be making those things from ground up angel halo's they pick up Sunday mornings. Soooo good.

Jake Hale

The food and coffee are great. Just bear in mind this is a cramped space for the line and it can get a bit crowded during a rush, but the staff handle the situation nice and quick.

Lakeia Newkirk

Comfy and friendly space. Food and drinks at pretty fantastic, thought seating space inside is a little rough. Overall a lot of great experiences!

Cork Hardin

The staff is friendly and the products well priced. The space is a bit tight for my comfort. If charm and cozy is what you crave this is for you.

Lauren Alford

Decent coffee shop. Not much for gluten free food options. They charge a lot extra for non dairy milk in coffee drinks. The coffee is good and the staff are always friendly. Tends to get crowded.

Kristina Peles

Cosy local coffee shop with good food and tea options. Not safe for GF food. Has posters for nearby events and two seating areas.

Gabrielle Huffman

Cool coffee spot. I think most would categorize this as hipster. Flyers on the wall coming in. Awesome tables. Check it out.

This is my favorite cafe! They have amazing homemade muffins with vegan and gluten free options, and all of them are huge and delicious! They have great sandwiches too, and awesome friendly service!

Dania Ramirez

This is a small coffee shop with lots of character and charm. It doesn’t offer a lot of seating inside, but they do have seating in the back deck. We had really good coffee, Gluten free muffins, and wraps. Everything was delightful and the service top notch.

Josiah Phillips

Good homemade pastries, yummy breakfast sandwiches and good coffee. The only knock is my coffee wasn't hot enough, more of a lukewarm

DeAndrea Charoenpon

Their muffins are the highlight of my day. Try the zucchini. You won't be disappointed.

Jack

I love the simple menu, the delicious coffee, & the relative quiet compared to other coffee shops. (At least on Sundays?)

Common Ground is awesome. The staff are friendly, professional, and quick! The menu is great, from the salads and the smoothies to the paninis and the breakfast sammies. The coffee is good. My favorite thing here is the CHAI PEANIT BUTTER BANANA SMOOTHIE and EGG AND CHEESE ON A WHOLE GRAIN BAGEL. My criticisms are that I have to get there pretty early if I want a whole grain bagel and the place is small. They always have art on the wall for sale. The prices here are reasonable and they also have muffins! They are environmentally conscious and have switched to plant-based straws. They do little spotlights on their talented employees. They have outdoor and indoor seating. I also enjoy the tuna sandwich.

Sonny Lacey

Spenser Villwock

Funky, Hampden coffee institution. Cramped rowhouse storefront.

Kamau Collins

Come here a lot for coffee, they have the best muffins so good!

I've come here a couple times - it's a cool space with friendly staff. The peanut butter chai banana smoothie is delicious. However, my friends and I have tried several of the food items here and been very disappointed. They are really underwhelming. Like, the egg and cheese sandwich is just cheese and a microwaved egg - no sauce or even butter/mayo. I'd come here by myself just to get the smoothie, but otherwise will go elsewhere for food.

Beth Emmerling

Great coffee and muffins

Quinn Kenny

You should try the muffins!

Jason Houdek

Their muffins are the jam and the coffee is good, too.

Chris Vazquez

Eat the muffins! So good.

Benjamin T Meintzer

I love the muffins, coffee and it's just a nice qauint atmosphere in the best part of Baltimore, Hon.

Josh Massey

Good food, solid coffee selection. Good mocha latte. Tight space at the ordering area, I wish they'd fix that. Currently playing some crappy music, but it's usually pretty good. Overall, of all the places on the avenue for coffee...it's the place I go most often.

Matt Pazoles

Best coffee shop on the Avenue. Great muffins!

Aryn P

Gavin Reen

Brittany Johnstone

Cozy coffeeshop with a light fare sandwich menu. Their muffins are always freshly baked and delicious compliment to great coffee. Love it!

Ianne Medeiros

Delicious sandwiches with good quality ingredients. Good vegetarian options. Good coffee. Try the dirty Chai.

Tsoyu Chiang

Valerie Favazza

Without a doubt the most awful coffee I've had at any restaurant. Aside from that, the food is very good despite the obscene prices of the food. Nice environment, though.

It's always easy to get in and out for some of, if not the best coffee in the neighborhood. I was never really into the food offerings but my friends tell me it is good healthy stuff. I know the owner and he is a good guy...I support his place and even though I live too far away to visit regularly anymore when I find myself in Hampden, and there is parking available, I try to stop in. Note, it is small cafe and often busy but worth it.

Ginny Jeppi

Best muffins I've ever had

Steven rotundo

Cute, little, no-frills place with good offerings and nice people.

A common stop for coffee and great sandwiches. The space is small when it gets crowded and there's a line, but regulars know the flow.

Julie Pokorny

Fantastic coffee and bagels. Super hygee

Ryan Crenshaw

Common Ground covers all your basic coffee and breakfast needd in Hampden. They aren't the best coffee (Spro), or the best breakfast sandwiches (Sweetside), but they are the quickest and best value of the neighborhood. Lunch fare is also tasty and fresh. Staff is always kind and super excited to help. Smoothies are also pretty great!

Adrian Gentle

Sarah Friedrich

Great muffins! Coffee is fine for the price

Luke Quell

Great coffee and vegan baked goods.

Kelly Nocher Riepe

Wise Person

Super Hipster. Way overpriced

Piper Watson

Great local coffee house! Fresh baked goodies daily - the muffins are ridiculous! ...and they have almond milk!! Yaay!! Try a matcha green tea latte!

Holly Hunt

I love their espresso drinks, muffins, and sandwiches. I especially love their Black Bottom cheesecake brownie, Elm and Nova sandwiches, and mocha. Highly recommended for breakfast or lunch.

Janna Morton

I love Common Ground! They have the best, homemade muffins in town and good sandwiches and tasty tea and coffee drinks. The ordering space is really tight but there isn't much they can do about that.

Rebecks Shore

My favorite coffee place in Baltimore.

Nancy aka Pottymouthyogamama Smith

Favorite place to Coffee Work <3

جهاد العيد

Brooke Cox

Awesome vegan gluten free muffins & kind behavior from each & every worker

Alexander MacMillan

Not sure why it's as popular as it is. Took 10 min to place my drink order and 5 more to get it. Staff did not seem in a hurry even though the line was out the door. Coffee was ok. Nothing special.

Jordan Wagner

My favorite coffee shop in the area. Service is great even though the line can get long. Food and coffee are always excellent. Would recommend to anyone looking for a great hole in the wall, local, coffee place!

David PC M

Very good coffee, yet competitively priced and with friendly staff and an alive atmosphere.

richard van deusen

Great coffee... Great meeting place... Great place to work... If you can find a place. One of the only cafés in Hampden where you can get free Wi-Fi though so perhaps worth the wait

Lenworth Henry

Decent brew, but, the music was so damn loud I couldn't hear myself think. I guess I would say, get your cofee to go, don't expect to be able to stay there and relax or take a call or anything productive.

Ivan Shvadskiy

Excellent service and food. All the sandwiches have names of Baltimore streets which us just the cat's pajamas

Julie Beaverson

Best chai tea ever.

Nate Barthel

Food is decent, but the service is absurd. This happened to me today (9/24/12), 'Can you tell me what is on the Southwestern Club Sandwich?" Slightly dazed cashier answers, "I don't know." He makes a brief effort to find out from an even more dazed looking coworker to which the answer was basically an exasperated shrug. Cashier looks back and me and says "sorry' or something like that. That's it. No additional effort to find out what was on the sandwich. I can understand not necessarily knowing what is on the daily special sandwich but in a cafe with maybe 3 workers one of them should probably know or at least make an effort. Advice for management: hire better workers. Even though I live down the street this is probably the last time I'll go here. Yeah the food is fine, but the service is horrible. Not worth it when there are other great sandwich places around.

Elizabeth Stuckey

Best coffee in hampden. Would be awesome if they had an order ahead option. The only downside is that the space is very tight and it's hard to know where to stand while waiting for your order but it's so good I don't care. The muffins are exceptional and they have lots of vegan and gf muffins if you're into that kind of thing.

Tim King

Not much of a coffee drinker, but Common Ground has been solid standby for reliable breakfast fare for years and years. I've never seen the quality go down and it's a nice little (it is very little) place to read a book, catch up on work, or just sit and enjoy a quick bite. Extremely consistent.

Amy Weishaar

Fuels me up when I need it, never disappointed, very happy with the gluten free choices.

Rennie Pasquinelli

Common Ground is a great place to grab a coffee or tea. It’s also a good place to get some work done or read a book. A huge plus of going here is all of the milk options they have! Easy to maintain your dietary preferences and have a delicious drink simultaneously.

Dai Andrews

Great place, friendly staff, Hampden's original coffee shop.

Sheila Matano

Love this place! They have the BEST GF MUFFINS! EVER!

Jeff Henriksen

Excellent quiche! The signage is true! So fresh!

Ed Hodges

Funky but right space. Outdoor tables often facilitate interesting conversations with strangers. Good coffee-shop food. As to the coffee, it's Zeke's. If you like Starbucks (as I do) you may find the coffee a tad tart. But that doesn't keep me away - those conversations!

Christina Dentry

Josh Agterberg

When I lived in Hampden this place was not only a lifesaver in the busy morning but also a great place for a great chill bite and amazing cafe drinks. Best cafe on the Ave in my opinion.

Jen Hawse

My favorite coffee shop in Hampden. Service is outstanding. Coffee is fresh. Sandwiches great for lunch and the bagels are affordable and fresh.

Amanda Fox

James Dolinger

Audriana Duvall

Susann Schemm

Great little place for lunch too!

Best coffee shop in Hampden! It's a little tight, but check the backroom (beyond the counter and bathroom) and back porch for additional seating if the front is full. I highly recommend it!

Margaret Lankford

Bart Stocksdale

Great food and employees.

Eric Loucks

Their build your own bagel sandwiches are incredible.

Peter Evans

This is my local coffee place. Expressos and muffins, that kind of thing. Warm and friendly, with free WiFi

Amanda Eisenberg

Great coffee but occasionally baristas will get distracted by conversations so not always the best if you're in a hurry. Order a cranberry muffin if possible

Stefan Perales

Dee Turgeman

Great little coffee place..fabulous sandwiches

Colton Mayo

Very good coffee, cool atmosphere.

Dominic Cerquetti

Hampden's de facto go-to coffee shop. In here nearly every day, go off menu and order the Chai Peanut Butter Banana smoothie with a shot of espresso. Only downside is they're popular enough that once in a while you get hit with long lines and not enough tables. Often not an issue

Nicholas Kovacic

Great coffee! be careful of the log jam at the creaming station.

Brittnie St. Cyr

paul quinn

Great place for a quick sandwich and excellent coffee.

Emilie Clingerman

Bagels, muffins, sandwiches, soups, coffee, smoothies, tea. 10 or so tables inside, about 6 tables outside when it's nice out.

Don W

Maria Christina Comas

Cozy spot with THE best Expresso drinks. Quirky music and lots of color in these colorless days of coffee shops.

Luke Williams

The baristas are cool. The coffee is good.the found is delish. They have vegetarian options. Great for a quick bite for breakfast or lunch.

Ray Plotecia

Nice place, good food.
