I travel 2 hours to visit this place and I was really excited at first... Things I didn't like: 1. I came to this place because I wanted to order corn empanadas, tres leches, and mango juice. And they didnt have them 2. I bought pastelitos (that in other countries they call empanadas but they have a different texture) and it had Rice inside ¿? Very colombian "empanada". Not a Venezuelan recipe as far as I know. 3. The girl that was working that day (6/13/19 at 12.30pm) was a little rude. Didn't even smile. She looked like she didnt want to be working there that day. 4. I bought a cachito which is a bread with ham inside and half of it was just bread. Things I did like: 1. The place was really clean 2. My husband bought an arepa (pelua) and it was really juicy and yummy. It was really disappointing since it was an special day for me and wanted to go to an authentic Venezuelan place with nice and warm people to brighten your day but it didn't happen like that. Since where I live there is not a Venezuelan restaurant near by. Maybe It could've been just a bad day for the girl working there, and they just didnt have what I expected.

Las cachapas, los tequeños, los cachitos... todo excelente!

Alison Robinson

Good food everytime!

Drew Dempsey

Love this place. Amazing food.

Leo Gonzalez

Very authentic food! Great service!

Arnaldo Milano

I drived 50 minutes to get to that place and take the great disappointment of finding discourteous people and bad temper that does not compare to the Venezuelans. I went with a friend to introduce her to Venezuelan food and I was ashamed of the terrible service of the place. To this is added the high prices and the small amount they serve.

Good food great service definitely a place to visit

Delicious place ! Every time I go, I must have at least 2 of everything I eat! Update: Came here again and it never disappoints. This has become a regular spot for me on a weekly basis. The customer service is superb! It is family owned and you see everyone in the family working in the kitchen. The flavor is always there and it’s amazing. Yum!

I finally got a chance to drop by. The staff greeted me w/ smiles. I've been looking for a Authentic Cuban Sandwich and I wanted to try one today. Also purchased two empanadas beef and chicken. I'm sure I'm going to love this place.

Regina K. Jarquin

Food is good but pricey. A can of soda is $2 that's incredible. Very poor customer service the owner needs an attitude adjustment and long wait times smh. Not kid friendly!!! Especially age 5 & under.

Se come súper rico, los Sabado deberían de abrir más temprano tipo desayuno para así poder desayunar unas buenas empanadas

Jessica Marquez

The cachapas were amazing. You won't be disappointed with anything you order here though

Best arepas rellanas. We arrived 15 minutes before they closed. Since it was late and slow there were closed already, They open the door for us, served and treated us very polite and friendly. We had arepa ripiada, arepa with sauce, arepa with ham ( my favorite the ripiada ) nice juice similar to the Colombian( la colombiana ) Definitely we are coming back !

Antonio Villa

The best, as usual.

I’ll definitely recommend this place with the best AREPAS im the DMV, fresh and tastefully. Also, love to come here and eat inside, the great customers service

Picture perfect Cuban sandwich - lunch at my desk never tasted so good. Picked up beef and chicken empanadas for later; when I dropped by they were in the process of making more empanadas, so I'm reasonably sure they'll taste fantastic. I need to pay these guys a visit more often.

A superior quality of arepas. No other Venezuelan restaurant compares to the quality and flavor of these arepas. I know because I am from Venezuela and these delicious cakes are a specialty of chef Mickey Torrealba. Hallacas year round. Tequeños con guayaba. Chicha. Pernil arepas. Sorry to say to Arepa Zone and Arepa House. Mickey is the real deal.

Cafe Azul is delicious! I had been craving arepas and beans, and boy was I happy we went here. The staff was so nice and let us have some free samples before we ordered. The food was delicious, definitely recommend the arepas and cachampas. The cafe con leche was also yummy! Would absolutelygo again.

Rolando Sanchez

Imani Lewis

Wonderful! The arepas are the ultimate comfort food!

Amani Lashae

Visited Cafe Azul today May 6,2018 at about 1:30 pm everyone was very nice. I ordered at Cuban sandwhich. I came home and started eating my sandwhich and notice the bread had mold spots on it. I called up to Azul they told me to bring the sandwhich back but if I already bit it they couldn’t do anything about it. I spoke to the manager and she was very rude and showed no empathy at all she almost screamed at me telling me to just bring the food. I’m very disappointed and I will NEVER go to this place again!

Luna Celestial

Great food. Yimmiest cachapas in town. A bit pricey, but worth it.

This place was a great find! I just moved to DC and have been looking for some good Venezuelan food near by. I found cafe azul online and decided to give it a try. The food is delicious! I relived childhood memories eating their food. I loved everything but their arepas, cachitos, tequeños and cachapas are amazing! I recommend that if you're looking for great Venezuelan food in the DMV to check them out, you won't be disappointed! Oh and their staff are super nice and friendly :)

Neil Gordon

Best Arepas in town!

"Incomparable" No doubt Mickey is very good

Mathieu Greenwood

Aesthetic Appeal & Atmosphere: Great exterior look from the street & sidewalk. The interior is chic and nice but is small as they have limited space. They do offer outside seating during the warm months. Service: The service is good and they always greet me with a welcoming smile. Meal Quality: I've gone through the menu like a shark tasting the fish options in the sea! Everything is good, and I mean really good! I enjoy ordering their empanadas or tequenos to start. I rev up the engines and go for one of their delicious arepas (queso, tomato, & roasted pork in a white corn pancake are my fav), cachapas (sweet yellow corn pancake with queso & shredded beef), or their cuban sandwich. Their tres leches to finish is delicious! Disclaimer: Everything is made fresh so don't be expecting fast food delivered to you quickly. Aesthetic Appeal & Atmosphere: 5 of 5 Service: 4 of 5 Meal & Drinks Quality: 5 of 5

CEPHOX EMBROIDERY

The food is simply delicious, the customer service is very nice making you feel at home, the place is very well decorated in a very nice traditional way, and the prices are fair. The only not so good thing is that it does not have parking, but when I got to the door, I realized that they have a graphic that shows the closest parking spaces, which is very helpful. I highly recommend the "Cachapa" with cheese, since it is made of fresh corn and a spectacular white cheese, I accompanied it with a drink called "Chicha" that you have to try, you will love it!!! If you want to find true Venezuelan traditional food in the College Park area, this is the place. I can not wait to go back and taste others traditional Venezuelan dishes.

Al G Nau

Roasted pork (pernil) arepas are so delicious $8 for a decent portion, of you are a big water you will need two. Order and pay first. There are 2-4 small tables and a high table with stools.

Barbara McGuire

I had the Cuban sandwich.. the ham & cheese were fresh and tasty & the roast pork was fresh, moist & tender. My husband had beef & cheese empanada and a chicken & avocado empanada.. he liked the beef one, which I didn't taste because of an allergy. I tasted the chicken- it was chicken salad & was delicious! Biggest problem is trying to find a place to park. I'll be back & hopefully they'll have more cheese in next time.. yummy!

Thomas Baker

Omg. The arepas. Amazing. And the tres leches. Even better

oscar castellanos

Jason Coker

Always good

Lisbeth Laurie

Great place, excellent Venezuelan food and very friendly staff. We had arepas, chicha, empanadas and for dessert the best tres leches. Looking forward to come back to eat a cachapas. They was a party of almost 25 people before we got there and unfortunately they ran out of cachapas, but they were kind enough to offer to make a new batch for us.

Kevin Ariza

Honestly speaking the location is a prime area, however this customer is not prime what so ever, not carrying for customers needs or making you even want to stay there. The food was very mediocre.... Once we got home it was a total let down. I do not recommend this place whatsoever, the arepas are not as tasteful as you would think.

Cristian Pelaez

Its worth the try and the prices are expected from a family business.

Laura Alarcon

Beef empanadas are Aweeesome, fresh and crunchy with the green tasty dressing! It was the first time visiting this place and I'm very happy to find a cozy family oriented cafe with kinds of food different from Mexican and Salvadorian foods around this area.

I was visiting my brother in Annapolis earlier this month and he told me there was a Venezuelan place he wanted to try. Both of my parents are from Venezuela and they came down to Annapolis that weekend too. Cafe Azul is absolutely DELICIOUS and so authentic! It tasted just like the food my family makes in Venezuela. The cachitos, cachapas and arepas are all delicious. I wish I lived in Maryland so that I could eat here every weekend!

Hope it was a mistake! Nice family restaurant! It seemed like the whole family was there, even Grandpa! I'm also not sure why it seemed like everyone there played in taking our order. Friendly enough service and they gave us a sample of the Chicha, which I purchased. It's a nice sweet rice milk drink. The food did not surpass my expectations though. The meat was not well seasoned. The arepas were however, hot and fresh! This is a rarity these days. The quality was great, it's just the pork lacked flavor. I purchased the beef and Gouda and the pork, tomato and cheese. Both needed more flavor. I still enjoyed them though. Now for my biggest dissapointment- they took my debit card out of my sight. It also took an unusually long time to give it back. Even when he gave me my receipt to sign, I had to ask for my card back. He seemed annoyed that I wanted my itemized receipt as well. So too my surprise, today when reviewing my account I noticed the charge is more than what was on my itemized receipt. I did not indicate a tip on the visa receipt. My 11 year old son gave them a cash tip and he didn't even like the food (crazy kids- who doesn't like hot, fresh, real food? Even if it's under seasoned!). They charged me an extra $2. I know it's not alot, but it's not right. Now perhaps it was a mistake, a slip of the hand. I hope so, because it definitely leaves me feeling cheated!

Don Lu

Relaxing place, yummy arepas, tequeños, cachapas and good cafe con leche. Nice and clean.

Growing up, American food is all I've ever known....I came to Cafe Azul for the first time 4 and half years ago....first visit, I tried the empanadas...then the next time, an arepa...after that I was hooked lol I love this time of year the most because the Venezuelan holiday food is so addicting lol with the pan de jamon...hallacas (tamales) and the chicken salad....yum!
