This Coffee Shop belongs to the category of Coffee shop.
I love this cafe a lot. It has great music and food. The staff are friendly. There’s free wifi and great place to work. Definitely recommend getting the Buffalo pizza, it’s great. The location is decent. When you’re in town and looking for coffee or some hot meal, go for this place.
Love this place, great coffee, friendly staff, chill environment and music! I couldn’t ask for more! You guys definitely get me
Bright and comfortable atmosphere, good coffee, friendly staff, plenty of outlets. I'm always productive and happy here.
Good tea, good service, fair prices, nice ambiance and atmosphere.
Good alternative to Starbucks. More laid back chilled environment for paying customers. Did not observe any questionable loitering that you sometimes see at other coffee shops.
good vibes, seating is tough to find
Quiet place with great coffee!
A very comfy, chill place. The servers are very nice and I felt welcomed there.
Great place to have a relaxing cup off coffee and meet up with friends
Great atmosphere and the coffee was great. I'll definitely be back
Nice atmosphere and easily accessible to the garage.
Coffee wasn’t bad, but the two people today behind the counter were a turn off for me. They acted like I invaded there private space, the concept of costumer service seems to evade them completely. The guy sat the double espresso on the side with out saying it was ready, I assume they are being just absent minded. Would it kill them to even say hi, how can I help or something along that line...
Came here on a Friday night, that just happened to be open mic night. We got a cold brew coffee and a cold herbal tea. Both were good and drinks were delivered to our table. Overall a good experience.
Well prepared coffee options and spacious seating in newer building; nice outdoor seating.
Nicely set up coffee shop with lots of drink and food goodies. There were less records than I expected. Regardless, it's a cozy spot and fun to hang out in. Definitely going back.
I would like to support a local coffee shop over a chain, but Bump and Grind makes it hard. The coffee is poor, the pastries mediocre at best and the service lackadaisical. C’mon man, it’s like your not even trying.
Great coffee and food! Highly recommend
Good coffee options, generally good tunes being played, and I like that you can get a beer, too.
Great coffee, nice room to read or be with friends.
Bright and airy space. Limited food menu and bad parking setup are only drawbacks.
Great coffee, disco for days and local beers. Can’t lose. Solid woodworking on the decor as well, scattered bits of ambrosia maple is always a good touch.
Every time I want a treat of hot chocolate I come to this place, it is much better than Starbucks. If you are looking for coffee Starbucks is still my number one. The seats here and music are super nice.
Chai was watery, even with an espresso shot.
Amazing coffee, friendly staff, great service... some better food options would make this a 5 star coffee place!
Good coffee and atmosphere but needed a wall outlet and there didn't seem to be many.
Great music, great vibe, good coffee
I wonder whether the negative reviews here stem from service expectations based on age. been here once, so I can't comment on service except to say mine was fine. I like the vibe. These owners are clearly connected to the neighborhood which I find important. Coffee is varied and good. I'll be back often.
Outstanding coffee shop
Burrito is, Ok. And coffee is delicious. Hope some other day I'll come back again.
Solid coffee, better than the other nearby options. Doesn't have that cozy coffee shop feel, but has its own style instead.
Bright clean cozy coffee shop! Good coffee and great seating. Perfect place for a group coffee meeting or a study session. Parking is metered though.
Good coffee but even better vibe. Nice place to stop in and get some work done .
Eclectic coffee spot with great beans
Excellent neighbourhood coffee shop-plus-DJ turntables showcase -- great concept! Their attention to java is evident in the decour and fascinating coffee brewing apparatus on-display. Great coffee combined with DJ-curated tunes, community events, and delicious baked cookies from locals Bjorn Bakes, makes this place a hangout worth visiting again and again.
Nice and cozy coffee shop.
I've never been inside, but my fiance occasionally has to poop here on our way to work. Their cold brew is amazing, and they're really nice to my fiance despite her bathroom crimes. Five stars
Friendly staff, cool vibe.
This place is outstanding. The coffee is delicious, service is excellent, and ambiance is perfect for a quiet place to get work done or have an intimate conversation. I will admit that the prices are a bit steep -- but well worth it to support a local business and for the quality of the offerings.
I was an intern near this shop and I grew to love it so very much! We would go here to work some days because of the great environment . Also, I couldn't get enough of the soy hot chocolate. So, I would ten out of ten recommended BnG.
I love coming here during my coffee break. It’s a great place to come break up your work day by hanging out for a half-hour and reading a book. The baristas really know what they’re doing. Excellent espresso pours. My go-to drink is the flat white.
Nice Atmosphere. Service was great and baristas were super friendly. Got a cold brew coffee that was very good. They also have a water station which I appreciate.
Cozy, friendly cafe. Live entertainment, excellent hot/cold beverages, clean, comfortable environment, good munchies and very reasonable prices
The burritos they serve are delicious, and the staff are great. I have been here strictly in the morning. Great place to sit down and do some work, or bring a kiddo (or dog!) for a casual morning. Warning: the coffee is strong!
Sweet place
Great coffee shop, laid back atmosphere with mellow music playing, not to mention great blends of coffee.
Our neighborhood coffee shop! Legit third wave coffee shop. Also known for much, has DJ events, etc.
Love this place. My favorite espresso drinks in Silver Spring, great cold brew, and fantastic pour over options. They have really good local food options, too. Love the Buzz burrito! The staff here is really great too. Always friendly and genuine.
The place for a vynyl fan to hang!
This place is awesome! Great coffee, chill environment, excellent and friendly baristas. It's a perfect place to work and relax. They have a variety of different coffees from around the world and they don't pretentiously overcharge for it. I would give them 6 stars out of 5 if possible!
Nice quaint neighborhood coffee shop. Great place to get some work done in downtown Silver Spring.
Tried to visit Bump 'n Grind at 8:20am on a Saturday, but it was closed. Both their google and facebook pages say they open at 8:00am. I looked for a sign saying they were opening late, but didn't see anything. Maybe they don't actually open until 9:00am - happy to remove this review if that is the case and the hours on google/fb are updated to reflect that. Otherwise, I wouldn't try visiting before 9:00am.
Originally found this place due to the record player. Since then I've been here several times, it's an ideal spot for studying or just unwinding.
Wonderful coffee shop in downtown Silver Spring. Wide variety of different types of coffee and a little something for everyone. Great selection of food and snacks. Vegetarian and vegan friendly. Laid back atmosphere. Record players and vinyl to play. Looks like they have a variety of music events on a weekly basis.
Excellent coffee excellent customer service. Just a little more costly than Starbucks but it's worth it. Especially when they have good events live music. Well kept secret
The atmosphere is really great! It's a unique idea to have records available to purchase along with the coffee. The staff is friendly and the coffee is fantastic!
Super hip coffee joint/vinyl shop in a somewhat odd place for it. Lots of people working on laptops. Vinyl selection definitely an afterthought. But friendly staff and good coffee.
Really cool, lots of local scene stuff happening here. They have a bunch of different features (like the community turntables) I haven't seen before in a cafe this polished - it's got the efficiency and professionalism of Starbucks, but the overall ambiance is more like a little neighborhood coffee shop. Very impressive considering the location.
Awesome ambience and the coffee is really good. Friendly staff and a welcoming atmosphere. Take a load off and have a brew to refuel.
I went in for a cup of coffee. When they realized I know nothing about coffee I received rude service. It was still good coffee and the decor is cool.
I really enjoy the relaxed atmosphere and ample workspace. I never have a problem finding a spot to set up my laptop and plug it into an outlet. The coffee is good and reasonably priced and they have an interesting alcove where you can borrow headphones and listen to music.
Best coffee shop in Silver Spring. Great staff, local flavor, local beer, tasty small bites and desserts. The atmosphere is relaxed and comfortable. They even have events including live music. Definitely worth checking out. Try their cold pressed coffee.
The hot chocolate was great. The atmosphere was great. Good place to study. I had ordered a crossaint, and the server did not give me my order. The server was a bit rude and did not apologize for his actions. I had to ask again and another server warmed up the croissaint for me.
Great coffee shop and evening music venue. I hope it survives the demise of Discovery.
Terrific coffee
Very cozy! Really good coffee and beer choices! Try their pastries too.
I love having this place a short walk from my office. Beautiful bright space, nice staff, tasty blueberry muffins, awesome chai and coffee. A great addition to the neighborhood.
Just wasn't amazing coffee. Cute tho.
I've become a regular at Bump 'n Grind. The atmosphere is light and airy. The young men (all musicians) who run it are incredibly pleasant and the coffee is the best. I'm a huge fan of the iced soy latte. The prices are higher than Starbucks on some items, but there's no comparison in terms of quality. They also carry delicious vegan cookies from Sticky Fingers Bakery.
My favorite coffee place!
The perfect neighborhood coffee shop! Drinks and food for all diets and comfortable seating.
Terrific service, atmosphere and delicious coffee. Parking situation can be challenging.
Nice spot, big. Free wifi and a cool vinyl collection. Good selection, quality bevs
Nice set up and comfortable seating. Food.... not much to comment on considering all I saw were bagels and cookies. Nonetheless I like this place.
Hip spot with great coffee and good vibes. The staff is very friendly as well.
Wifi was down in the shop. No notice was posted on social media, etc. Basically my trip to drive to a coffee shop to work was a total waste. Just seems inconsiderate to me. Also, the latte had literally no texture. Maybe it was the guy’s first ever latte. Overall super disappointed with what I had hoped could be a new alternative to work from home. :-(
Had the chai, and should have skipped this attempt. The lox bagel (on everything) was only saving grace, or maybe I was just hungry. I liked the vibe of this place, in that you could enjoy your joe or work away. I'm just not sure their drink or food selections stand up enough to be equally appealing as the environment. If I come back, it will be for the ambiance, not the food/drink. Employees were nice, but a bit off the beaten path
Independently-owned coffee shop in Silver Spring. Deserves credit just for that unusual status but also serves good coffee from house-roasted beans and features eclectic LP collection for spinning and sale
The coffee here is as good as you can get. They roast their own beans in their own local roastery, which is the ideal way to do it.
Coffee made with love!!! This place is absolutely awesome. I live upstairs above the shop and can't help but stop off at least a few times a week. Hipster decor, vintage industrial lighting, and vinyl records!!! Honestly, I come for the steamed milk art and to fill up my coffee rewards card. The only thing that could make this place better is a larger beer selection, karaoke, and finger foods.
Second time here as I just moved in the area, the first time I visited was pretty normal. This second time though I didn't feel welcome. Like the people behind the counter didn't want me here...really weird. I may give it one more chance but so far unimpressed. Just a downtown coffee spot. Had high hopes...
Good place to hang out, But my Fiancé and I ordered the latte to drink there because she wanted me to see the cool designs they do but they made it to go.
Every coffee and bagel I've had here has been fresh and satisfying. The staff are super nice and the vibe here is always pleasant. Only downside is the way they limit the wifi to 2 hours, but I get they don't want you there 24/7 or there wouldn't be enough tables at peak times. Still one of my fav, local coffee shops in the area.
Lively atmosphere with great coffee
Cool style. Ok coffee. Cool staff.
Excellent customer service. Staff are friendly and go out of their way to make you feel like part of a community. The drinks aren't bad either!
Nice atmosphere and great service.
Best place to get a coffee and have a conversation. They host a lot of music event that great for anyone to sit and listen to. They serve the best hot chocolate in Silver Spring. Really great staff and good selection of records.
I love this place!!!!! Their coffee is super and the staffs are awesome. love spending few hours every weekend reading and having really good coffee
Bump 'n Grind is wonderful. The customer service was great and the coffee was amazing. It has a cute coffee shop feel and plays really great music.
Relaxing coffee shop. Great place to read and work.
First time here and it was great. Loved the vinyls, cold brew in a mason jar, and spacious seating area. Will return again.
The place is awesome. I usually dont give 5 stars but, this place deserve it. Nice music. Delicious coffee, cool enviroment, cozy place to read, dine alone, have a few beers with friends. Clean place. Staff is friendly both speak english and spanish. Highly recommended.
Wonderful atmosphere, great music, and delicious chai!
This place is great.. free wifi.. great coffee.. great music.. they had a program titled "Girls and Guitars" in which 5 different local artist performed.. I'm definitely coming back and bringing others.
Love it! Great coffee paired with great music. Such a cool scene!
Great ambiance and great coffee. 10/10 would recommend.
A true gem off the beaten path in downtown Silver Spring. If you’re a fan of indie dance music, this may be your new favorite midday haunt. I used to frequent this coffee shop every weekend. First I’d get a coffee and either study or get some work done, then I’d unwind and have a beer because yes, they also have beer on tap. And hilariously, if you ask a friend ‘meet me at the Bump N Grind,’ 9 of of 10 times that person will assume it’s a gay bar. The feature I enjoy the most is the couch next to two vinyl turntables in the back of the shop. If you hand over your driver’s license to one of the baristas, they will let you borrow some noise canceling headphones with a long cord that is compatible with the jack on the turntables. They have a selection of at least several hundred albums to pick from, 95% of which are dance music by local artists in MD/DC/VA. They are loosely categorized into genres such as house, bass music, drum n bass, downtempo, dubstep, etc. Picking an album is a bit like playing Russian roulette. The fact that most are instrumental lends very well to studying or working on projects. This has afforded me hours of joy and entertainment. Not to mention the place has great decor — murals, posters about the history of music genres, lots of vinyl on display, etc. It pains me to not rate the BnG five stars, but I have a few couple complaints. First, it isn’t open late enough. I get that it’s a coffee shop, but if you’re going to have turntables and beer, I think you should at least be open until 9 or 10 pm. Second, each time you purchase a drink you get a ticket to access the WiFi for 2 hours only. Third, occasionally one of the turntables is in disrepair, and because they are popular sometimes you have to wait awhile to get on one. The employees come across as rather aloof at times, inattentive, or distracted. DC isn’t the place to expect warm greetings or smiles, but it would sure be nice surprise. In summation, I love the concept of the BnG so thoroughly and it has kept me coming back weekend after weekend. Some minor improvements could definitely lead it to hit those five stars.
I was so excited to come here since I drive by it almost like everyday. I ordered an iced coffee and wasn’t too pleased. It tastes kinda watered down and they only have two types of syrups: chocolate and vanilla. Also, note that they have a 2 hour WiFi limit. The code they give you expires after 2 hours.
Since they've opened, this place has been my favorite coffee spot in the DMV area. Great selection, very cool staff, and their events are always worth my time.
Good, consistent customer service. Laid back atmosphere, great music. Want to attend some events here!
Cafe americano was lukewarm freshly made. Almost $5 for one cup. Over priced and disappointed.
Great atmosphere. We got a drip coffee and flat white. The flat white was ok, but the coffee was acidic and sludgy.
Nice staff , great atmosphere!
Went toD's nice time
The atmosphere is really cool. It's a pretty hipster so be aware. The record selection is limited. The coffee isn't bad but it's isn't exceptional. If you like "hip" atmosphere, then definitely check it out. If you hate hipsters or want major label records maybe give it a pass.
Cool vibe, mostly friendly staff, and decent coffee. I come here sometimes when I want something different. Likewise their DJ and music nights are a treat.
I enjoy going here for my Americano's, buying whole bean coffee, and artisan chocolates. The environment is nice for a working day. I've had a sandwich once and decided it wasn't all that great but typical for a coffee house. I like they feature local business products. Service is mediocre. Not especially friendly but prompt and attentive. Place is clean and comfortable. Wifi has been reliable enough for me to work remote for about 6 hrs.
Great selection of coffee, outdoor seating, uses real cups and plates if you eat there ;) a place to stay and chill and meet with friends and or clients.
Don't know if anyone else has already mentioned this in other reviews, but their wifi access system sucks. I am not sure what the costs are that they would have to make it so troublesome for people if they expect to keep up with Peets right down the street. I went there tonight a little after 6 to get some work done because I needed to use a laptop and mouse on a table surface. Only after I paid $7 (including tip) for an underwhelming parfait (that was half the size it should have been at that price) was I told that they would be closing an hour early at 7 rather than 8. No helpful signs tell you what the wifi situation is, so I had to go back to the counter to find out I needed to ask for a machine-generated wifi password that is only valid for two hours. I tried to use it on three different networks, two named BumpnGrind and one named BNG or something along those lines. Password didn't work on any of the three and by that time I was so frustrated I just left.
Good coffee, but you only get WiFi for 2 hours with a purchase.
Quiet, comfortable, excellent coffee, good views, nice people.
Neat corner coffee shop
Amazing coffee, friendly staff, and inspirational environment
I have been a customer since they opened up. They have the best coffee around. Once you taste their coffee, you’ll never go back to places like Starbucks. They have friendly staff, great food, amazing music, beer and wine, djs and live music, an amazing selection of records and much more. I highly recommend this place for people who are sick of the run of the mill coffee places!
Great coffee! Nice relaxed, unpretentious atmosphere.
Good choice of coffees, skilled barristas, good music.
Excellent espresso, friendly staff, welcoming space.
If you like pour overs this is one of the best places around.
Great music, great coffee, great vibe. Love this place. I'm here probably once a week at least.
The best cold brew known to man (or woman).
Great decor and cozy ambiance. The service was great and my latte was delicious.
Great vibe and great service! Yummy cranberry orange muffins - the best
Great Independent Bohemian Urban Cafe
It was nice , ppl were nice
I used to love this place, but now it's a few time I've gone out of my way by a couple hours just to go there, and they hardly have any food to offer and barely put any chocolate in the hot chocolate, even if I specify extra chocolate. I hope they can fix these things to bring it back up to par.
Good atmosphere. Coffee is smooth, not as bitter as a popular national chain that I frequent. They have a few good selections if you're hungry - with vegan and gluten free options. You can sit outside on the patio of the weather is nice. Only downside is that you have to look for parking, and may likely have to pay, though it's not nearly as expensive as it is to park in D.C.
The best ambiance and Staff .
Great vibes, staff and coffee. Space is optimal for posting up and using your laptop. Good creative energy. Wish the vinyl portion was bigger and location was more convenient.
Had a great time. There was even a DJ. DJ Diaspora was really good.
Place you want to come back. Many tables of different kind. Couches. Nice coffee, music. Great place to work or talk, not noisy.
Great space and service. Send poorly run on the kitchen supplies side, lots of things not available just because they'd run out midday on Wednesday. Cabinet was empty. Little strange.
Pretty good coffee, a little pricey.
Decent coffee with live jazz music every other weekend!
Nice chill spot! Will definitely be back.
Friendly staff were able to explain the difference between coffee items on the menu. I was there several mornings in a row and mostly had toasted bagel and coffee. They also play and sell vinyl records. With a variety of seating arrangements my favorite was the tall stools at the window ledges. Free WiFi was nice but you have to ask for it at the register. They also have live music once a week in the evening. I didn't think to get pictures just a caffeine fix.
Great little coffee shop in downtown Silver Spring. They sell records as well, but seems like thats not what most people are there for. The coffee is very good, and they sell some locally roasted coffee as well. Pretentious in a good way, and lots of places to sit and lounge. They also sell beer if you're looking for some place to park yourself for the evening.
Very crowded but if you find a spot you'll love to sit and look at everything
The small pita bread pizza-like food is tasty, plain, and light. (You'd need more than 1 if you were hungry ) The off music isn't bad enough to deter you from getting the food.
This cafe is my favorite spot to sit, have coffee and relax. I feel comfortable and safe when I'm there. Also, they host monthly events and the staff is always pleasant. Wi-Fi works great too!
I enjoy coming here. It's relaxing, the music is usually something good enough to ask about. Comfy chairs. Coffee doesn't quite reach the Starbucks level, but the hot chocolate is much better. Definitely a place to hang out for a while to work and read.
Nice cappuccino! Well-made and not child-sized.
Best coffee and coffee shop in Montgomery County. Great pour-over options, always rotating. Nice food selections. Great espresso drinks. Tons of seating, indoor and outdoor. Free WiFi and to kick it into hyper drive an incredible selection of new vinyl releases.
Friendly counter staff, very comfortable physical space. A great place to hang out or meet with a friend or two.
The vibe is very nice, but the worst Expresso I have ever had. Thought I was drinking cyanide before being sentenced at the Hague. Yuk!
Good coffee. Professionally brewed and crafted. Specialist type of good. Got a pretty good vibe too even tho its a pretty spacious shop. But because of that, its good for laptop work or reading. They also organize local artists/musicians to perform which makes you feel more connected to the city and be able to social with other people dynamically.
This place is combination of coffee house, live music place, unusual drinks, special events and even Etsy type shop. I have already mentioned that I am not a big fun of coffee regardless of how good it is. But the all other parts make me give this place 5 star rating. I can't comment on a coffee, but the drinks(especially wine and beer) are superb. The music nights are also good. Add to that Etsy type shop which they organize over Saturday and any coffee hater will be a happy one. The parking is in the same building, you just remember to leave before 7PM - not sure how can you get out past this time.
Tired of chain coffee shops? I know I am. Bump and Grind is heaven. Relaxed atmosphere with some of the best coffee I've ever had. Delicious sandwiches and pastries. The place is bright, spacious and friendly. Love everything about this place!
Mellow vinyl music, good coffee, free WiFi, tables, comfy chairs and workstation ledges with stools. I really enjoyed it.
Coffee is gross. Staff is unprofessional. The Buzz Burrito was ok.
Came in trying to find a good coffee place in Silver Spring and left disappointed. Although they got my order wrong twice, we went ahead and tried what was given to us- bad idea. The chai tea was bland and the bagel was stale. Parking is difficult to find on a Sunday morning, which made the experience even more frustrating. Will be continuing my search for a good coffee shop.
I always like the vibe here. Great, friendly staff and good service. The coffee is good too!
Love this place. Music and excellent coffee go well together. The hand pour over is the best coffee I've ever had.
✔Great Location ✔Nice atmosphere
Classy and clean, but had no fake sweeteners at all. I asked if they had any others of any brand, and they claimed they were ALL out? Seems unlikely or unresponsive. Otherwise, they were nice and friendly, even when we brought a pile of children. Full of laptopers and readers.
Chill coffee shop with friendly staff. Looks like they have events here too. I had a dirty chai latte and it was perfect.
Cute little spot for coffee. Had a decent chai latte but nothing to rave about.
Awesome place to work with a great cup of coffee, friendly service, a good music.
Hastle to park but friendly service
