nice coffee, best place to hang out for lazy/productive weekends
Amazing baristas and even better coffee here. The place and coffee shop sign is low key hidden, but once you come in, you’ll know you’re here. The place has a minimalistic interior design and very mellow, peaceful vibe.
Not a fan of the coffee but the hot chocolate is the best. The avocado toast is good but pricy for what it is. No power outlets to plug into and work from there. Love this place except for the roaming dogs(not service dogs) that are allowed in, ew.
The Blue Bottle Georgetown coffee shop charges rip off for cold or hot brew coffee. Its $4.50 plus tax total $4.67 Speculative rip off price for ordinary simply brew coffee at Blue Bottle coffee shop. Dean Deluca, Starbucks, and Peets offer $2.50 for this same drink and its same size. You see this comparison and you must know the truth.
Favorite coffee place in town
Doesn't have wifi... it's 2018, this is unnaceptable for a coffee shop. That being said great brew. -2 stars solely for the Wi-Fi.
The coffee is very fresh and you can read more in their website. The spot is beautiful and lively. It has a long communal table with high ceiling for those looking to work on your lappy.
Seat might be limited
Tucked away at the end of an alleyway in Georgetown, this beautiful cafe serves excellent drinks and a small assortment of pastries to boot. Get yourself a cup of cappuccino and a slice of their Orange Pound cake, sit by the large windows at the back, and if you're lucky and the sun happens to be shining, soak it all in.
Pour-over is outstanding and the staff is friendly, not pretentious like other neighboring coffee spots. I go here to splurge.
A disappointing Blue Bottle location. To preface I travel quite a bit and have visited many Blue Bottle locations and all have been fantastic. This was not the case at the Georgetown Blue Bottle. To be fair the Baristas were friendly and the location, although tricky to drive to it was nice, but the coffee unfortunately was very disappointing. Americano had the tasting notes of a Starbucks Americano... that’s not a compliment. There was no subtle or even strong notes, it was just poor quality, bad tasting coffee. Hopefully they will get better, but they have already been open a year.
The spot this Blue Bottle got is the best one at Georgetown.
Friendly staff and absolutely divine coffee. Beautiful place to sit and enjoy a beverages with company. Easily one of my favorite coffee shops nationwide and worth stopping by.
No outlets
There's no wifi. What kind of coffee shop doesn't have wifi? Unbelievable.
overpriced undersized servings and a hella long line to wait for it... not understanding the reputation.
Other than coffee taste~~~
Really good coffee.
Nice coffee but it’s pricey.
Lovely place!
Amazing coffee, probably the best in the dc area!
Best coffee ever and super friendly and knowledgeable staff, yes, yes, yes a must go!!!
Modern specialty coffee place The kids didn’t like the hot chocolate Coffee was ok though
Coffee is great and there’s lots of space to sit and work, but there’s no WiFi! Data coverage is also very poor (1-2 bars) inside the shop, so hotspotting isn’t an issue. Total deal breaker if you’re looking for a cafe to work or study in, which is a shame because it really is one of the nicer coffee shops in Georgetown! Hope they get WiFi soon
Delicious tea cake with a triple iced late and flat white! Cozy Clean & Simple interior with delicious espresso & treats. Tucked at the end of Potomac Ave in Georgetown away from the busy main road.
Nice place
A disappointing shop. This location needs an interior decorator, ASAP. It has been around long enough. The ice coffee is served in 6-8oz cup & once the ice is added your lucky to get 5 oz of coffee. The ice coffee is simply okay. The service was good. Good luck BBC keeping up in the coffee industry around here. Will try another location.
Chill place to take a rest
Fell in love at first sight. Very Cozy coffee shop in hearts of DC. Highly recommend the place for coffee lovers.
Great space , amazing brand and design of everything, dramatically over priced
I like this place. It's smart and quiet, a good place to meet and have a friendly conversation. The coffee is very good and they have a good selection of pastry and sandwiches.
Good vibe... Nice coffee...
Latte with oat milk was so creamy and the espresso was really good.
Great barista work!
Takes a little time but well worth it. They have the best cappuccinos and coffee that I have ever had! Perfectly made
Hands down this is the best coffee in Georgetown and probably DC.
If you like Starbucks DON'T GO HERE. this place will spoil you and there aren't enough of them around. Great great coffee and the environment is like a coffee shop should be. GREATEST people in the world from order taking to barista. They love the place and it shows.
One of the better coffee shops in the US has arrived in Georgetown. It's a little SF caffeine injection in DC. A clean lined - modern yet austere locale has plenty of seating just up from the canal. The pours are on the smaller side. I traditionally go for the iced in the summer and a pour over in the winter, but here I enjoyed the cappuccino - very rich, complex, yet smooth. Since the place is brand new, there may be an extended wait for the near future. Definitively worth the stop if you're wandering along M St. Always feel free to reach out to me on Twitter @joerazz
Love love love Bluebottle. Their capucino is actually akin to a perfect flat white. Short iced late is also great. Others rave about their pour over.
waited 15 min for avo toast while there was no line...the manager occupied himself doing other things and then decided to make it seeing me frustrated. it's bad enough toast w avo costs $8 but at least they could provide better service.
Very good coffee
Blue Bottle Coffee earned five stars. The coffee is rich, flavorful, without a hint of bitterness. The staff were friendly. The atmosphere was cheery even on a grey day. It was a bit busy (line almost out the door) during my first visit, so I waited a few minutes, but got a quality latte anyway. I didn't see a need to try coffee anywhere else after tasting it. 10/10 will return the next time I'm in the area.
Nice place, and great layout. Foods are good too
Incredible coffee, food and service. Store manager is the "best"!
What coffee shop doesn’t have WiFi and is blasting heavy bass early in the morning. Ambiance is bad. Sad! Drip coffee is awesome btw.
Here is the best place ever in the "World".
The barista was really nice. Love their coffee! It is hidden in a small alley, you will need to be careful to not to miss it!
The coffee was great but there is no WiFi at this cafe .
Clean design, wide open, and light-filled. The beans, the roasts and the baristas are all top flight. Highly recommended!
San Francisco-based Blue Bottle is known for pour-over coffee, but the espresso drinks are among the best you'll find in D.C., too. Spacious spot. Limited food. No Wi-Fi.
I was pleasantly surprised when I saw a new coffee shop in Georgetown. The open space and outdoor seating of this spot is great for a casual coffee and snack. The service is friendly and helped me decide on ordering an additional snack- liege waffle. The liege waffle is excellent and having lived in Belgium it was fairly decent - just a little pricey in my opinion. The coffee is smooth. Great place to bring a friend from out of town and catch up with them.
WARNING: the Blue Bottle–designed coffee dripper is single serving ceramic pour over coffee filter with a flat bottom. That means the hot water drains through the grounds more evenly than through a traditional cone-shaped dripper AND THAT MEANS IT TAKES MORE TIME! So kick back and enjoy the wait, it's worth it!
A good coffee ❤️☕
Always the best coffee.
Great coffee and cool store. Herbal tea is excellent also.
Get the Oji!
No WiFi. Good coffee and vibe
Lovely staff and great coffee
Food was ice cold and inedible. Coffee was 99% milk. Threw both out within minutes of walking out the door.
Modern coffee house with a unique atmosphere. Coffee was good but not the best ever.
Grat coffe at reasonable priced.
Great tucked away place. Fast service, good food, great coffee, and tons of light. No power for electronics or WiFi, and no parking except at the expensive garage nearby.
Good coffee. Friendly staff.
The most attentive baristas, clean, best coffee, and outdoor picturesque seating
Finally, it's in DC, but is it really that good? Yes, it is. To start with, I ordered the famous Bella Donovan pour over. After hot steam faded, its special jammy syrupy flavor showed up. You can't get this from any other cafe shop in DC. Then, I had a double espresso. First sip, dark and earthy. Second sip, smooth and fruity. And of course, as God indended, espresso is served with sparkling water : )
No WiFi. Otherwise, nice spot.
Great coffee, but no wifi
Superb cappuccino. Great outdoor seating by the canal.
Nice, quiet coffee shop tucked away from M, by the canal. Its outdoor seating is perfect for a nice day.
Amazing coffee and coffee beans. Really knowledgeable staff that went above and beyond!
Great service but, good grief, $9 for a small cup of OK coffee and an english muffin with jam???
Personal Opinion. This place is good for one time trying. Nothing special for coffee taste and few of selections only. Interior design is simple model as apple store, but looking way simpler than simple. And waffle machines and the stuffs on the table back of the counter were not look organized.
Great coffees, great layout fun place yet not too loud plus outdoor seating. Would be nice to have a wider range of products.
Nice place to hang out and maybe study/read/code as it is generally quiet, but there is no wifi or plugs to charge... coffee is good, but expensive for the quality. I was expecting a better coffee given the prices... I love coffee so maybe I am being picky ...
I heard about this place and wanted to see for myself. Waited in the morning for them to open , very loud music inside can’t hear my order , also one worker there kept going outside for vaping , and came bk , disgusting , can’t do this in front of customers. Coffee beans are mixed cheap brands . Not exciting at all. One long table to sit for everybody !
Coming from Melbourne, Australia (rated as the best coffee city in the world), I'm a bit of a coffee snob. When I heard that Blue Bottle has hit town, I scoffed and said it wouldn't be as good as the Californian side. My arrogance persisted until I ended up here on a cold winter morning with my girlfriend, and I ordered a flat white. It was one of the best cups of coffee I've had stateside, and the service was excellent. The cafe is hard walled, but it's high ceiling-ed so it never gets too noisy, and I could sit down with a book and enjoy several flat whites if I wanted to. When I went back for a second order about 45 minutes later, they remembered my name and had another coffee brewed up for me in no time!
Very very good #Cortado!
Always crowded unfortunately but excellent coffee.
Love Blue Bottle! Coming from San Francisco I already have a deep love for Blue Bottle, so having one here in my hometown is even better! The staff are always friendly, in a good mood, and so helpful! Try the waffles, steel cut oats, avocado toast, everything is really good. As an added bonus they serve Oatly oat milk which makes their lattes even more delicious!
Cute venue. I had hot tea.
Amazing oat milk latte , but there is only one person at the espresso bar so it takes so long just to get your drink. There’s always a line around the bar bc people are getting antsy and just want their order... don’t go here if you are in a rush !
Darkkkk and lovely
Love it. This place has the perfect location directly on the little Ohio canal. Ideal for sitting outside and enjoying the great coffee they serve. I know blue bottle from NY and am completely satisfied with this DC venue! Try the belgian waffle and avocado toast, both so good. Inside seating available as well with lots of options.
Great addition for Georgetown
It's is a clean and modern coffee house located in the affluent Georgetown. I ordered cold brew (Starbucks grande size was about $5) and realized it tastes very much similar to Starbucks cold brew. BB and Starbucks cold brews are so far my favorite. There is no power, so probably it's best not to stop by to charge your phone or work on laptop for hours. They have lots of cute coffee making equipments, accessories and books.
Wish there were more of you! We drove from Baltimore to this blue bottle (after trying the SF one) and the place is inviting, the baristas are chill and friendly, and the coffee is indulgent and smooth! Not the pick-up-coffee-as-you-rush-through-your-day coffee. The good-conversation coffee.
Love that avocado on english muffin
My personal favorite coffee shop in Georgetown! Right by the canal and away from a lot of the foot traffic, but has a great simple aesthetic! Good coffee too!
Supurb coffee, yummy Avocado muffins and exceptional Georgetown service with a smile
Cool atmosphere (but not cozy if that's what you're going for), good coffee
Arrived in this town and directly to Georgetown area to find some coffee, and yes Blue Bottle was there. A worldwide artisan coffee shop with good quality of coffee in a good package. The branding was awesome, merchandise were also amazing and all with a decent price. Both indoor and outdoor area were full of people even though this shop was huge, and was not a peak season as well. I still manage to get a seat outdoor which apparently good for photo. Really recommend coffee anyway.
Hidden and hard to reach but the products are good
Liked the interior it was very simple and japanes inspired and coffee that will change your mood.
Good coffee, but no wifi! This isn’t posted anywhere. I came to do work and only found out after I ordered. Now I know!
Nice modern design, very polite and friendly staff, and a quiet location just off the "beaten path". And, of course, high quality Blue Bottle espresso. A great place to read it just meditate.
Fresh roasted coffee, friendly baristas, good food!
Awesome spot to grab an espresso drink outside of the fray of Georgetown shopping crowds.
Very good and somewhat overrated. Bean prices are way too high... Go to Commonwealth Joe's or Dolcezza (Stumptown) for that. But the drinks and pour over is terrific, and they did a great job with the building.
Every cup of coffee is smooth and delicious. Macchiato is superb
Although Blue Bottle Coffee is not original to DC, it definitely provides one of the best coffee drinking experiences in Washington. The coffee is phenomenal, the staff is knowledgeable, and the environment is welcoming. It is also one of the few "sit down" coffee shops in Georgetown that isn't Starbucks, making it an ideal spot for people wanting to read/study/work or have a conversation.
Good coffee. Simple brand and marketing. Consistent experience every time. It's hard to dislike. Worth a small wait and still not so busy that you can't find a seat.
Cosy, cool, and beautiful atmosphere. Standard blue bottle quality. The baristas are also very warm and friendly.
Just a rad shop tucked away in a great little corner of Gtown. Great coffee, cool space, and a fantastic crew. Also saved my bacon with some preground packs to power my Aeropress...
So yummy I got carried away before taking the mandatory picture. :) enjoyed a nice flat white and pistachio cardamom tea cake with my lovely wife. A nice little escape from the Georgetown bustle. Friendly staff and great coffee; give it a try!
Great attitude but milky flat white! Update Corado is great here.
A chic place to spend time alone doing some study.
Pleasantly surprised, super chill and the food looks good though I didn't try it.
Great coffee amazing seating area. A little bit pricey.
Great coffee in an old warehouse transformed into bright, minimalist space. Set in the heart of Georgetown overlooking the canal. Friendly staff.
Just a bit slow and pretentious. You never know when food is available and the music wobbles your brain at times. Staff nice though
As someone who has grown up in Melbourne, I have an avid love for the coffee culture, and frankly it's hard to beat the OG brunch scene city. However, Blue Bottle is one of the better coffee places in Washington DC and the cafe has quite a nice and open feel to it. Set in the heart of Georgetown, with some other pretty cool shops around, it is well worth a visit if you're doing some shopping around the area. I've heard that the steel cut oats are quite delicious too, so I'll have to try it one day!
Very lovely coffee spot I will go back there wherever i got chance to go there They have 48Hrs drip coffee .. its a MUST WITH ONE ICE CUBE
Easily one of my new favorite places for some astounding coffee.
Great food, good coffee, extremely friendly staff. Thought that dog treats for service dogs was a nice touch, even though I don’t personally have one.
Great minimalist ambiance with white walls, wooden fixtures, and natural lighting. This location is just off the C&O Canal Towpath or down Potomac Street. Go for the mocha and liege waffle, or a NOLA ice coffee on warmer days. Blue Bottle feels tucked away from the crowd so it's a good spot to meet up with friends or sit and study a bit when it's not packed.
Excellent coffee
A great spot for grabbing a coffee with a professional colleague.
The New Orleans Iced Coffee and Spearmint Matcha Green Tea is nothing short of AMAZING!!!!! #BestVibes #THEGREATESTcustomerservice #Passingthrough #willmostDEFINITELYreturn
Friendly staff. Spacious spot. Pricey stuff
The environment is cozy and atmosphere also good, barista is very nice and friendly too
Average. Didn't live up to expectations. Coffee was OK. Have had better for less. The food...little granola or chia bowls. Watch the calorie count on these deceptive little pots. You would be healthier eating a big Mac. Didn't taste great either. Definitely not worth the hype or the price unfortunately. Decour looks like a cliche of itself. Its litterally like a hipster setting from GTA or Watchdogs 2. A coffee shop that is trying to be an apple store.
Great Staff, espresso and pastries
Coffee is great. But there are not serving people by turn, the barista decide who he wants to serve. At least that’s a what happened at this visit. Most probably will be looking for another place that serves great coffee
I love Blue Bottle. Every location has absolutely delicious coffee, it’s clear the employees are all complete masters of the trade. They are also incredibly friendly and knowledgable. This particular location is clean, bright, and overall the perfect environment for both for meeting friends or for going by yourself with a book or some work to do.
Quiet, Calm, but Blue, Innovative, and Cool. We have enough woody, cozy, classical theme cafes, so really appreciate a different look of the coffee shop near dc! Coffee tastes good, and employees are super nice and friendly.
nobody in town can match their level of customer service and quality beverage!
Very good coffee
Wow. Great coffee. Better than Starbucks. Small place.
Interesting vibe and good coffee.
Overrated, overhyped, overpriced. Students never leave.
Amazing coffee - my go to has become New Orleans
Excellent coffee and very neat. Love the team, they obviously had a great training and love what they sell
Coffee is good, but it is very pricy. $6 for a latte? There is no internet here, so if you wanted to come here and work, you need to hotspot yourself. For some reason, there was no customer in line before me or after me, but it took them 15 minutes to prepare the latte. I brought my own cup to be environmentally friendly, but they said they have mugs for dining in, then eventually (when the coffee finally came), gave it to me in a paper cup instead. I am so sad for the trees.
New coffee experience!
Blue Bottle seems caught between two different coffee shop business models. It’s neither an inviting hangout or a specialty shop, and unfortunately combines the worst elements of each. Yes, the coffee is very good. However, it is served by default in a paper to-go cup, you order off a menu with limited choices and explanation, and it’s priced as though you had a conversation with the barista and selected the perfect cup. If you simply wanted a cup of coffee, it’s far too expensive. If you wanted a specialty experience, it’s disappointing. I’m sure you could strike up a more in-depth conversation with the very friendly baristas, but the setup does not encourage it. Likewise for the rest of the ambiance. No-WiFi is fine if you want to encourage people to chat, listen to music, play board games, whatever. It feels strange and again disappointing when the space is filled with people working on computers wearing headphones. In short, this is more about the “vibe” of a cool coffee shop than the actual experience of one, and it fails to deliver on several important marks.
Just another third wave shop with great coffee.
I came here on a Friday at 6:38pm. I wanted to have cappuccino however the lady at the cashier told me that their espresso machine was broken/not working. There were fresh empty latte and cappuccino cups on the tables. I guess they cleaned and closed the espresso machine before their closing time which is 7pm. This is not acceptable for a coffee shop like blue bottle. I am really disappointed. I had a pour over but I was looking forward to having a cup of cappuccino. Otherwise their coffee drinks are good if you can have it.
Does the California brand justice with a cute little space in Georgetown. Not great as a workspace just because it is sometimes difficult to get a seat, but otherwise a nice space.
Amazing coffee food and ambience
I've never experienced a finer pour over. I had a cafe au lait the next day that made me want to never leave. Honestly the finest chain coffee shop experience I've ever had.
The coffee here's great. The barista recommended the New Orleans with oatmilk. The drink was amazing and the atmosphere was nice enough to chill at and work for a bit. Definitely would recommend this place while you're shopping around Georgetown.
Love their coffee, decor, and food. It’s a hidden gem!
Didn't like the cold brew coffee, way too flat and with a harsh bitterness for my taste. Very nice decor and atmosphere in the better side of Georgetown and a view. Crowded as students are stationed there forever. And then the price.
If you dont get a Avocado toast on sourdough bread you are not a human being.
Best Coffee in DC. Usually busy, but not busy enough that you can't find a sit. Instagram: @happyhour_dc
Amazing coffee but the server said they dont have sugar substitute
Expensive, close early, and not the best coffee. I think there are other better options
SF vibe in GTown/DC
Fancy coffee spot for true coffee connoisseurs. Avocado toast is on point.
I can't speak to the coffee, but the iced green tea is amazing. It's super fresh, they make it to order rather than keeping a pitcher in the fridge (which gets bitter). They put toasted rice in it for an interesting complex flavor that goes above and beyond any other iced green tea I've had. The baristas are super nice and friendly too. Great service!
The coffee was great and it's a really cool spot however I got my coffee to go and after leaving realized that I was again drinking the coating from the inside of my cup. Hopefully it was just a bad cup. I would go back though.
Very good
As always great coffee!! There is also a nice selection of pastry. I would greatly recommend the mini brownies which are amazing! The place is nicely tucked so you are in a more quite place, the building itself has a nice vibe to it and a nice place to sip your coffee while socializing or working on your laptop.
Great location and avocado toast, pour-overs
Not bad The cappuccino was cold
The coffee tastes good. The atmosphere is very nice. But keep in mind that the portions (cups, etc.) are really-really small.
Bar none, the best cup of coffee I have ever experienced and bar none, the most frustratingly slow staff. On my second visit I ordered two of the same sandwiches at the same time. One came in five minutes and the other ten minutes later. On my first visit, a cup of ice coffee took two minutes (great) and an expresso took fifteen. Yes, fifteen minutes to make a cup of coffee with very few people in line. Tables in the seating were not cleaned or cleared and it seemed to matter little to the staff. Managers at Blue Coffee seem to regard their role as talkers and not doers. Most stood around and chatted most of the time on my two visits. Blue Bottle is without a doubt worth the trip but for a company to earn a local reputation as stellar as its cousins on the west coast, than the service must get better than the indifference that is so plentiful now. Blue Bottle could be an exceptional coffee shop if it savored service as much as it does coffee.
No wifi, no plugs, no water. Coffee is good but overpriced. Atmosphere is trendy but not for long
