I LOVE this restaurant!!! I go to my Dr's appt every month in Annapolis and after I go here. I usually get the chicken quinoa bowl (WHICH IS AMAZING) but sometimes try something different. I've yet to have anything that I didn't love! The atmosphere is incredible and the staff is friendly and attentive. There are a ton of restaurants around here but this is where I choose to go every month!! Also, the roasted potatoes are FANTASTIC!!
Nice quiet place to get a nice cup of coffee. The employees are friendly , and everyone makes you feel welcomed. It's a place I really wish I had more time to visit
Interesting atmosphere, people around me seemed to enjoy their food
The best little hideaway on West st For a quiet meal, we have been going from the time it opened.
Stopped into this wine bar on Friday May 11th and was told to sit anywhere so we sat outside. After a long wait the hostess brought us water and explained that she could not find our server. Finally, our server appeared and took our wine and warm brie plate order. They should should change the description to "barely warm brie plate". Once we finished our brie and wine...and waited...and waited...I finally went inside to find my waitress and check. She was sitting out back smoking with the hostess. If you are looking for bad service and sub par food...you should stop right in. If not, I suggest walking right past this little wine bar.
48 West is iconic land mark in West Street. Great food, warm atmosphere, and you meet the most interesting people Annapolis has to offer. TIA is the glue of the place, get her to help you , and give her a big tip!
A great find. Charming place with very good food and lovely service.
Truly deeply dark coffee. Free refills. And a sweet outdoor smoking patio. They also have incredible smelling food And a bar!
Music great, excellent service and food!
Brilliant. Amazing. An unbelievable rare find
Amazing people, never crowded, chill, and food is amazing. Spearmint or Hibiscus tea
Live music almost every day and evening of the year. Great atmosphere - warm, welcoming and creative. Very connected to and active in the community. Great food. Good place to sit and read, chat with friends, have a working meeting or enjoy music.
Breakfast, coffee, and live music was fantastic. Art...not so much.
Hip little shop on gorgeous street. Homemade pies and great music.
a cute old spot that looks like it has live music but I just stepped in for coffee and the service was very friendly and the coffee was great!
Fun, artsy atmosphere in a nice coffee house that has a fun selection of wine and cocktails.
Great atmosphere and music.
Great spot! Couldn’t decide on wine and they let us try a bunch! Love it!!
Reached out to this business on three separate occasions over the course of 2 days to ask a question regarding their menu. Each time I was hung up on within the first 15 seconds of the conversation. I cannot speak for the product quality of this place, but I can speak for how horrible the customer service is. I will not support a business that allows employees to be so rude to potential customers.
The best coffee, in Maryland. The sever are always friendly and caring. food is delicious and fresh
Stopped here for coffee before a show at Rams Head. Forgot to tell the server that I didn't want whipped cream in my coffee drink. She was super sweet and offered to make another, no problem. That's customer service.
The best place in Annapolis for intimate music, especially Starr's Jazz Jam on the first and third Wednesdays of every month! Be there, or be square....
This is an excellent excellent local restaurant. Great menu selection, casual atmosphere, interesting art and great wait staff. Try the celery root! You say "what ? ". The only place in the northern hemisphere that serves great celery root salad! Try it
Staff I always pleasant and the new staff Baker has my vote
I love their deserts. They also have a band playing in the back every now and then. Great place to hang out for coffee. They serve wine as well.
Great coffee. Great fried potatoes. I enjoy being able to just walk in and sit anywhere. I've eaten in and also have gotten take out. When eating in the wait staff always acknowledges me right away. They are always nice and come to check up on you. And the food comes out in a timely manner. When getting carry out the experience is still good - except if you didn't call your order in you will have to stand there and wait for it. The area by the register is cramped and the wait staff grabs food to run to tables right there. It just feels awkward and I can tell the other customers waiting for their food also feel awkward. Call in your take out order. All the food I have tried has tasted great. The curried chicken salad sandwich is defiantly interesting but I'm not sure I mean that in a good way.
Great little coffee shop in downtown Annapolis. Nice place to relax or have a quick meeting or get together with friends.
Good food, good service ☕
Haven't been there in quite awhile. They usually have a nice selection of soups to choose from.
Love the live music and decent coffee. Staff is mostly great, hit or miss with the front counter though. The time before the last (September) my friend and I were treated badly by this guy. He slammed her coffee down, was being rude, made a couple of comments...maybe a bad day?? We all get those, but come on man, don't take it out on new customers (my friend), put a bad taste in their mouth.
Cute location but the prices for regular coffee are outrageous. The S. chain has better coffee at a much more reasonable price. The coffee was good but nothing special.
Service was super slow, but nice. Food was tasty
This is such a LOCAL GEM AND HOTSPOT! There is more than meets the eye in the way of the goings on here. It's actually a meeting house for the who's who conducting business with the state by day and a nifty little concert house by night. That means lots of energy amd activity around the clock, but still quite comfy and relaxed. Now, this is a coffeehouse version of a dive bar, so if that's not your vibe, dont go!
Nice relaxing setting. Really good place to sit down and split an appetizer with my family.
Really laid back place to take a break while enjoying downtown Annapolis.
Needed a quick lunch and got a good quick sandwich with friendly service there! Yummy tuna melt.
Very calm, warm environment. Think Panera but not commercialized. Great customer service, a waiter helped me go through the menu. Had a ham and noodle soup with half a portobello mushroom burger, it was great! Cane sugar root beer was a nice touch too. Could do without the paper straw lol but you can't have everything. Nice place right in the midst of historic Annapolis.
Wonderful. The best coffee! And i know coffee!!
Great food and neat atmosphere.
Coffee or booze, you can't lose! Wish they opened a little earlier so I could scoop a coffee on my way to work
Good service, food and atmosphere. Great place to hang out.
Cozy coffeehouse. Be sure to catch their monthly "Cafe Scientifique" last Thursday of the month at 6:30 PM but book early because the place is packed!
My caramel latte wasn't great, but the wine and other beverage list is extensive. The crab dip was delicious and the atmosphere is fantastic. Cozy, adorable, wonderful live music on the Saturday afternoon I spen there.
Excellent coffee and beverales available! Local find with local entertainment! Cozy vibe. Has organic wine. Had a great time!
Delicious, great service, saved a lot with a Groupon
The service here is fantastic and the food is just as good. If you find yourself in Annapolis and looking for a casual but super yummy place to get a bite or have a drink, this is a good place to visit. And if you're lucky, ypu might be treated to some excellent local music. Small, cozy and enjoyable.
We went to see a jazz band that was really good. The food was good, but not hot. Loved the atmosphere.
Always loved the place, try to stop in when I can. I had an Italian Soda, Scone and a cookie.
We reserved a table for 2 on a Wednesday night for dinner under the stars. The service was extremely slow. Our server did not help us for almost 10 minutes and took a while to bring us our drinks. The server didn't take our food order until 50 minutes after we'd sat down. We watched as a table of 5, who was seated long after us, got their food. We still had not received our food almost an hour after ordering, so we paid for our drinks and left. We don't plan on returning here.
Relaxing atmosphere, be sure you know what gorgonzola cheese is before you order it
As cozy little spot on a cold winter's night. The service was good and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. We just stopped in for a cup of coffee so I can't speak for the food.
Lovely place. Food is delicious and the staff is always great.
Good food and drink!
I came here for a relaxed dinner on a Thursday night. They had a decent selection of Maryland beers at reasonable prices and a pretty extensive wine and liquor menu. The menu is smaller, but they still have a wide variety of interesting food. I had a celery root salad which was pretty good and must be healthy. They have a bunch of liquored coffees that all seemed enticing. The service is great and laid back in a try coffeehouse way.
They always have a great variety of music and while the place is small, we've always found a place to sit. The food is very good too. Some of our local musicians play here and we enjoy hearing them. The place is intimate, not a large music hall making for an enjoyable evening every time we go.
Stopped in by chance and could not be happier. We wanted a pre dinner bite and some coffee so decided we would just share our appetizers. The waiter picked up on this and brought them out pre split. Mac and cheese was awesome and the bruschetta was brilliant. Great espresso and a Very friendly staff. Quiet too. Being from New York we enjoyed that, well done! Rob and Jenn.
Love this place, the coffee is great and the aura is lovely .
As regular patrons at love music events, we absolutely love the atmosphere, food and drink. The non-alcoholic London Fog tea is a personal favorite. Excellent beer and wine selection, and wonderful mixed drinks. The art shows are always a hit. The acoustics in the music room are great and the intimacy with the artists makes for an entertaining night
Really nice place, great service.
This is an interesting place. Decoration is nice and cozy. The coffee is good. The pastries are good. However, I was very disappointed with the behavior and unfriendliness of the coffee tender. He asked me to sit and wait for the check. It took them about an hour to get me the check! The way you are treated in a coffee shop is very important and I would not make this place my regular.
Lovely time, worth every minute. Food was delicious and experience was fantastic.
Great ambience, music, and food. Service was slightly less on point.
Very close proximity on the inside, giving it a warm environment year round. Staff are friendly, polite, and bubbly. The food may seem pricey but the portion size is what you pay for, the food is fresh and so very delicious. This is heading downtown Annapolis, so street parking is limited (metered) there is a parking garage (reasonably priced) across the street and there are plenty of public transit methods available. Wonderful place, definitely should stop in for a signature half-sandwich and cup of specialty brew.
Awesome local coffee and wine shop with lots of local art and awesome decor.
Went into coffe shop to grab some brunch I sat down and was immediately greated by the waitress who's name was Mary she told me about the specials and got me to try a bloody mary and eggs Benedict I was very happy with the politeness and attentiveness that was given to me. I will come back thanks Mary!!!!
Good food. Good music. Much fun.
Really enjoyed a young Duo playing wonderful covers of Beatles and other similar era music. As well as a few remarkable original compositions.
Cramped, very expensive for the quality. Service was attentive and friendly! The band was great!!
One of the best coffee shops I have been to. Service is phenomenal. Food is great. It has an eclectic feel that mixes the very formal with the very relaxed. Its my favorite place in Annapolis to work and study.
Nice atmosphere, music. I like that it's open later than every other cafe in town.
Great music and nice, chill vibe.
Good breakfast with nice live music
Great service and yummy breakfast sandwich
My favorite cafe in Annapolis. Fast, delicious food. Great service. I believe you can judge a cafe by it's mocha latte. There's comes with high quality whip creme and chocolate bits on top - DELICIOUS!
The music was wonderful, the service was great, but when the chef is wearing pants dropping below his butt, that just puts me off the thought of food
I enjoy this place but it is a bit pricey and sometimes the staff can be a little cold. Still, they have some decent food and drink options and their coffee is pretty decent.
Think more cafe vs. coffee house or wine bar. This is more of a sit down place. Coffee was great, slightly overpriced. Service was pretty slow...
Very good light fare. Interesting atmosphere. Very casual.
Wonderful funky atmosphere. Local music and great food.
Great place and staff. Excellent coffee and beverales available! Local find with local entertainment! Service was extremely friendly.
Adorable little coffee shop. Was very inviting and cozy. Only stopped by for a quick drink, but liked what I saw.
This is a nice little coffee shop. I really liked it. The waitstaff are really nice and efficient. The food is also great. They have everything from salads to quiches to burgers. The coffee is pretty standard but the iced matcha latte that they have is a must.
I went to the back room to hear a couple of performers. There were plenty of seats at the tables for the entire audience. Since it was a little late, we ordered dessert and a drink. The desserts are stored in a case at the front part of the restaurant. They were amazing! Our server was attentive. The restaurant is conveniently located close to a parking garage, which charges only $5 for an evening.
Always great service, been going there for more than a decade.
Great cappuccino. Friendly place.
There is really no place like it. Family owned. Comfortable and sophisticated at the same time.
Decent little coffeehouse in Naptown. Sufficiently out of the way to not attract so many tourists.
Favorite local coffee shop with great food and awesome servers. Always enjoyed myself there.
Perfect environment for reading, or gathering with friends. Fresh desserts, and live music.
Nice lady waited on me. She was so sweet
This place is a classic! Way yo go Sarah
Good food. Went for my birthday. The smoked salmon dish is really good, and plated beautifully (though a bit impractical to eat). Cozy place. Took my groupon with no problem. EDIT: went back again with some family and was still a big hit. My 80 year old grandfather said it was the best lunch he has had in a long time, it is a big deal to get a compliment from him lol ( he got the open faced crab and shrimp sandwich). My grandmother loved her bean soup and said she never had anything like it before.Food was great, they definitely go heavy on cheese, crab, and cream here. Even the side salads had tons of topping on it like peppers and olives. The crab dip and crab quiche are very good. Since it is a coffee house the service is a bit relaxed, many people there were just enjoying some wine while doing stuff on their laptop, so you may need to send a small wave towards your server if you need anything. The server was very friendly, turns out he was the son of the owner. They have two rooms to eat, and some outdoor tables in front and behind (smokers seemed to use the back). If the back room is being used for an event it may be hard to find seating for groups over 6, we had 5 and were able to put 3 tables together. groups of 1-4 should have no problems though.
Great place and staff. Go see Madi.
i came on a Saturday afternoon with 2 friends. i ordered before them but never got my coffee. when i asked about it they said their tickets got messed up and i was given a token for a free coffee. i came back the next day with 4 friends. i was given soy milk when i ordered almond. one friend was given a strawberry pastry but she ordered pumpkin. another was given her food to go when she said she wanted to eat in. the food and coffee is very good. the ambience is very nice but maybe don't order just let them pick what they want to give you
Great people, food, music, service, and ownership!
Nice place for casual coffee, breakfast, and dessert.
Great tuna steak sandwich
49 West is the classiest place in Annapolis. The service is very genuine and professional, and the ambience is awesome. I love to stop for breakfast on Saturday or Sunday mornings, and listen to Jonathon Stone play Brazilian and classical guitar. It's a must check out!
I'm sorry for all the negative ratings. But I have made another experience. The service was really good and fast. (Seems to depend on the waiter?!?) The breakfast was OK and everything fine. Coffee as refill, croissant: very good and oatmeal like the good old old-school style. All in all: go, try the 49 West Coffeehouse!
Oh man, the food and the service were both great, love the ambience and the location. And our server was amazing, I had a toddler with me and she was beyond wonderful!
Servers were amazing, beer was cold, music was hypnotic panties.
Had a wonderful breakfast meal along with delicious coffee. Would go back if in Annapolis again. Cosy sitting area, friendly staff
Good food, great people
We stopped here for wine and a small bite to eat while we killed a few hours downtown. The wine selection is pretty good, and the brie plate was delicious... a little messy, maybe, but totally worth it. Someone was playing on a guitar nearby, and that added charm to the atmosphere. Very pleasant.
Great stmosphere. The live music was a wonderful addition to our dining experience. The food was made with quality ingredients and was presented in an appealing manor. They had vegan options for my guests, which they thoroughly enjoyed.
Good coffee
Friendly neighborhood coffee shop. Food is pretty good, coffee is great. Well priced. A little slow, but come on, you're not at McDonalds. I like it and stop here pretty often. 4 stars because sometimes it can be tough to get an order in. No less because it normally is worth the wait.
You have to go when Grady is on - his cappuccinos are the BEST. Nothing can compare.... Great place to chill, good eats, read the paper, and enjoy the coffee. Thanks Grady.
we had the best night! thanks Ian for such great service!
Excellent neighborhood spot, great atmosphere and loungy feel with excellent local art for sale on walls.
Great service and coffee!
Very good curry chicken salad sandwich on a croissant. It's a common recipe these days, but it was executed well. The cold brew tasted like iced coffee and priced like cold brew. Overall a good cafe experience, a bit overpriced.
Great music, drinks, and food. Cozy atmosphere.
Love this place for coffee and breakfast or a bowl of soup.
This is the most fabulous find ever! Met a friend I hadn't seen in years and stayed for 5 hours. Never rushed. Fabulous cappuccino, vegan and non vegan food, and the music was amazing. The vibe is friendly, our server attentive and gracious. Prices wonderful. Will definately return. LIVE MUSIC and fabulous musicians! and a variety of people in the arts here too.
Phenomenal crab dip, and a wonderful location!
Nice and cool place to hang out. Coffee is good. Like the paintings on the wall. Support local artists.
Good food, great coffee, delectable wine. Lovely alternatives for drinkers not into wine.
Open early and great food.
This is a very cozy and relaxing place. We went during the day for lunch. The quiche is delicious, and they gave several different ones.
Kinda and attentive service. The baker there is incredible. The scones are incredible.
Coffee was good, person waiting on us treated us like we were a bother!! Wont go back!!
Excellent friendly prompt service
This place makes sense. Wonderful at all times of day. Quaint with great energy, good vibe, wonderful people. Conversation or read a book.
I've been here a few times now and everytime the food is amazing. The shows on Friday nights can be heard all throughout the restaurant so even if you dont want to pay the $12 or so to see the band, you'll still have a great experience listening anywhere else.
They have a wide menu and typically friendly, fast service. Great options for anything from food, coffee, or drinks, but the espresso is a bit burnt every time.
So glad we found 49 West - craft cocktails and cake. Outstanding. Thanks, Isabella.
Service has gone down hill. It starts with the obvious dislike and under appreciative reception. Then the overpriced bottles of beer. The only saving grace is the food, creative layout, and regular jazz sessions.
It was great
Great salmon bagel breakfast. Fantastic coffee
Lunch sandwiches are always delicious
Art, jazz, poetry, pastries, pies, cocktails, brunch and dinner this place has it all. It has the local feel of Annapolis and is located on historic west street. Relaxing vibes before walking in with outdoor seating in the front and the rear of the building. Sometimes they have more than one musical performance going on with a stage set up in the front and in the rear of the building.
Always have a good time here. Jazz night, science night, or just walking around Annapolis, thisnis wonderful spot to in for a meal or a drink
Wish I could anonymously review this place because I love coming here. It's one of my favorite places to be, and the wait staff and barista are awesome people. However, the running joke is that, here at 49 west, it takes 49 minutes to get coffee. Usually only happens when I sit outside, but it happens and happens too often. The employees, the coffee, the food, and the entertainment are all awesome.
Must use servers, no walkup counter service for coffee unless you take it out immediately, no carousing
The very definition of a fantastic local coffee shop. Add their wine selection, amazing desserts & and pastries, extraordinary musicians, full bar, inspiring art, great quiches/sandwhiches & nightly dinner specials, plus the warmly colorful patrons ... ... Hands down, one of my top favorite places in Annapolis -- or anywhere !
Really cool downtown place to hangout. Good environment. Good music. They have a tastey beer selection and they will let you sample a few if you are unsure. They also have some good burgers and fries. I like the rustic, wood design they have inside and it really is just a neat place to hangout.
Great service brilliant Atmosphere. A great place to go and if you want to have brunch with friends, or just take a book and enjoy some public alone time. It's not cheap but you always get your moneys worth.
Food was great. Got the ham and swiss and it was a really good lunch. Service was extremely friendly.
Great vibe! Great selection of food and drinks! Great entertainment!
Friendly staff and the best food I've had in months. They sometimes ha e a Groupon available, so check to see if it's available if you plan on visiting.
Great spot for the locals. Some nights you can find a jazz band playing. I've had the chance to meet the owner and she was very humble.
Annapolis' Living Room. Relaxed atmosphere to grab coffee, some food and listen to the locals play music. This isn't a stuffy, uptight place, come relax, enjoy. Service is amazing!
Great service. Wonderful coffee and toast. Perfect for a meeting with a friend or business associate in the morning. No rush to move us out.
Very nice place to meet for coffee, work on your laptop or have lunch. I really like the chai latte and the quiche, which comes with a nice little salad. Check for a Groupon; with that, lunch was essentially buy-one-get-one-free. The table in the window and a table outside on the sidewalk are my favorite spots.
Soup was not hot and sandwich was minimal. Service was adequate, courteous and helpful.
Excellent coffee and goodies. Great place to meet friends. Friendly staff
Good coffee and tea but not as hot as I'd have likes. The place had a slightly distressed, shabby-chic air about it and the toilet was blocked!
Good coffee and desert.
I've been coming here for years and have always loved the vibe. It's a great place to enjoy a quiet lunch while reading a book or to meet up with friends. The staff is always friendly, but my server Mary today really stood out. She was warm, helpful, and attentive without being pushy which is exactly what I wanted. Thanks again for a great lunch 49!
Great place for a cup of Joe or tea. What ever your poison is. The hard stuff that is your gig. I feel like it is a good place to go and strike up a conversation with a complete stranger! Or catching up with an old friend!
Excellent coffee. Nice atmosphere. Great service. Cakes rather expensive though at 7$.
This is one of the only "bars" my spouse and I visit in Annapolis (we treat this as a bar spot but restaurant or coffeehouse are also appropriate descriptors). We had our first date here seven years ago and it will always hold a special place in our hearts. We enjoy coming here at night for the warm brie and a drink or two. Ian is frequently our server and he is great, really friendly. The cozy atmosphere, local art and live music are all reasons to visit. Seriously though, check out that warm brie plate, delicious.
Wanted to try a local coffee house on this lovely snowy day. From the moment we entered the cafe the vibe was off. The man behind the counter looked annoyed that he had customers. While we were waiting for the customers in front of us to pay, I saw a young lady that looked like she worked there. I asked her if they had menus to see their drinks. She handed me the menu and didn't say a word to me. While the man was making our drinks the phone rang, and someone i guessed asked if they were open (because today is a snow day) and he said "yes we are open." and got off the phone and made a loud sigh. Both the young girl and the man behind the counter were not friendly and almost rude. I would not go back to this place, which is sad because it was super cute.
I *loved* the atmosphere and the live jazz, and look forward to going again for the music. Not impressed by the food we ordered, though.
Delicious coffee and friendly service. We were very impressed
All the drinks we got were delicious. Really enjoyed the range of drinks they offered, all nicely crafted.
Sunday morning jam sessions are now my go to spot.
