Delicious food on a breezy patio overlooking a quiet side street (as the name implies). The service is great. For food, it really enough to say that I went here three times in the week I was in Bar Harbor. Lobster mac and cheese did not disappoint, it's everything you'd dream it would be. And the lobster dinner specials are all great in their different way. Cold beer to top it off and your evening is complete

Waitress was pleasant and helpful. The portions were very generous. My halibut Reuben was exceptionally tasty. Only drawback was that upon leaving the bathroom had a bit of urine odor(maybe someone had missed a few minutes before me and they hadn't checked in it in between). Their blueberry pie is decadently delicious.

Lovvvee the mini hamburger & side salad (or soup) combo! PERFECT amount of food for me- left me full but not overstuffed! And super tasty! My brother ordered the pesto pasta and let me tell you- one of THEE BEST pastas I’ve EVER had!! Definitely recommend this place if you’re looking for decently priced food that tastes amazing!!

A wonderful little cafe. Delicious food and atmosphere. Definitely targeted at a younger crowd, but I went with my entire family including my 84 year old grandmother, and even she loved it. A must visit if you are in bar harbor. A word of warning though. If something on the menu says it's spicy, they are not messing around. Their Chipotle mayo is the spiciest I've ever had! Absolutely delicious!

The Mac and cheese was okay, a little bland, onions were not cooked so they were overpowering, the Burgers are the price of a whole meal, and they asked if we wanted chips or fries with it, but did not mention that it would cost an extra $3... Would recommend the buffalo chicken dip though.

We went two days in a row. The food was delicious!!! Highly recommend the 1/2 rack of ribs with the mac and cheese. The staff was friendly and the service was quick. On the second day I ordered the Hot Lobster Sammy, which left something to be desired. The lobster was cooked well, but they just put the whole tail in between the hamburger bun. It took some time to cut it all up and reassemble my sandwich. Ultimately it was still tasty and I would go back!!

Came here after a long day of hiking and the food really hit the spot. I ordered the lobster roll and fish tacos with my wife. We also order a side of the pub fries and the crab dip. The crab dip was amazing, you can put it on anything, works real well with fries and the tacos. The lobster tender and buttery soft. Everything was great. To end the meal, we ordered some of the famous blueberry pie, only regret was I didn’t add a scoop of ice cream...

This place had a clean and fresh atmosphere. The staff was friendly and the menu offered a variety of options for any food desire. I ordered their Nomad Burger in the mini option with a side salad. It was very fresh and extremely tasty. My boyfriend ordered the baked halibut on their dinner special menu, and it was very much enjoyed, he appreciated a healthy non-fried fish option which came with a side of kale and rice. We also got the blueberry pie for dessert and rated it highly, the crust was so good ( I am very critical on pie crust)!

Our experience started off great and worked its way downhill after our appetizers. Pros: Dog friendly (on the patio), probably the best Mac and Cheese we’ve ever had, and great seafood soup. Cons: extremely overpriced, burgers were mediocre at best, $3 tea in a small mason jar filled with ice and they only allow one refill (absurd), and $3 upcharge from chips to fries which were terrible. Server hovers while filling out the credit card receipt. Truly wanted to like this place and it was off to a great start. Certainly won’t be back.

Can't say enough about this place. We go to Bar Harbor every year for vacation and we always come to Side Street Cafe. Absolutly one of the best places to eat in town. The staff is always wonderful and very accommodating, and the food is amazing. Portions are definitely filling. If you go, the BLAT sandwich is a necessity, my wifes favorite. Its delicious. The chips are hand cut and perfect, and you have to have the clam chowder. You have to get in in the bread bowl. Best clam chowder I've ever had.

Excellent place to have a meal with friends and family. The menu is elaborate and they have something for everyone's taste. The Bushfire Tacos are to die for. They were flexible enough to make vegetable sandwiches for the vegetarians in our group. The place gets very crowded during peak times, so it is better to call in advance for a reservation or reach a bit early.

Great food and great servers. We had the lobster roll which has two lobsters meats and lobster on a bun. We got a martini and a margarita both were made to perfection. The staff were nice and the ratio of them to tables are properly set. Since you just see them enough to get things going and they come back tell you where we are with our order.

Great food, friendly and efficient staff. Dog friendly, so we ate on the deck. Felt like lobster, went the touristy way. My son got the sammy, I got the lobster roll. Not cheap but absolutely worth it. We lived in Maine for 30 years, so it's no small complement to say this was probably the best lobster roll I've had in my fading memory. We enjoyed our fellow diners and the staff. We'll be back

Was planning to stop in for lunch, but had a long wait for inside seating. They have first come first serve outside seating option. Despite the heat, we venture to outside seating. We ordered a tuna melt sandwich with chips and a haddock sandwich with chips. Both sandwiches very good. But the high rating is due to the outstanding wait staff. If you plan to drive to the restaurant, make sure you budget extra time for parking, which is not easy.

I'd never had lobster stew before, but I can't imagine anything tasting better than the bowl I had tonight at Side Street. Creamy, buttery, with massive chunks of lobster. The broiled haddock sandwich was also very good, but the lobster stew alone gets 5 stars.

Solid food choice in Bar Harbor, especially for families. The service was fantastic; our waiter was super friendly and could tell as soon as he approached us that we were ready to order (we were hungry after an afternoon of hiking at Acadia!). So great. The food was just a little forgettable - I had to visit the online menu to remember what I had while writing this review. I ordered the black bean wrap, which was fine. The patty was not super flavorful, but it hit the spot for what I needed.

Clam chowder was delicious, and the lobster roll was the biggest and best we have had. Large portions and great beer prices during happy hour 3:30 - 5:30 even on Saturday! Perfect spot after a day of hiking.

We had lobster roll for lunch. Not only was the lobster fresh and juicy, everything else came with it were excellent, the toasted roll, the piece of pickle, and the potato chips. The clam chowder and blueberry pie were also among the best. Staffs were friendly and informative.

Great food matt gave us excellent service I ordered the Cuban sandwich pay $3 more for the pub fries instead of the homemade chips which are okay the pub fries are great it comes on a pretzel roll it's delicious diced he's really great my daughter ordered the albacore tuna melt and really enjoyed it also with Pub fries the decor is really nice and warm there's a small patio that's a nice bar it's a very enjoyable place if I'm eating in Bar Harbor this is definitely one of the places to be top two or three on my list

The mixed drinks and live music were really good, especially the mango mixed drink. The lobster Sammy was not a bad choice but it could’ve had more lobster in it. We also had the lobster roll and had loads of lobster but was lacking other flavors. However, the blueberry pie was pretty good.

After a long day of hiking through Acadia National Park we stopped in Bar Harbor for dinner. Most all the restaurants in the area were very busy and had long waits. We had read great reviews for Side Street Cafe and were happy to learn that the seating at the bar area is first come, first served. We found two seats at the bar right away and were greeted by the bar tender immediately. We ordered two local Maine draft beers (Atlantic Blueberry Ale with real blueberries at the bottom and Geaghan Bros Blonde Ale) to start and the bangin' shrimp. The beers were refreshing and the shrimp appetizer was so good! The shrimp were perfectly cooked and the sauce was a great mix of sweet, smoky and spicy with warm toasted buttered baguette for dipping. For our entrees we had the black bean burger wrap and the grilled haddock sandwich (both great) with upgrade to house made fries (worth it). We each had a cup of soup: New England clam chowder (delicious) and the soup of the day which was a Brazilian shrimp soup (which we wouldn't recommend because it was too spicy and thick). A great finale to our meal was a slice of Maine blueberry pie a la mode. It was delicious and the crust was flaky with a touch of saltiness which was a great contrast to the sweet blueberry filling. We had a great time at the Side Street Cafe. Highly recommend stopping by if you're in the area.

We were stopping in Bar Harbor on a family trip. We had this place recommended to us by 2 separate friends - it did not disappoint! We happily pass along the recommendation. The food is AMAZING! Huge lobster roll, delicious and creamy lobster mac-n-cheese, and the chowder was spot-on. They also have a great drink selection with good prices! Our waitress was kind and service was A plus. Delicious food and friendly atmosphere! We ordered the Bangin Shrimp for an app and it was THE BEST shrimp dish I have ever had! It was so delicious that we ate up the sauce with a spoon! The Blueberry Bourbon Lemonade, Pineapple Coconut Margherita, Lobster Cobb Salad, Fish Tacos and Lobster Roll were also fantastic! My only wish would be that they provide glass water jugs at tables like most restaurants in the area do. I like to be able to refill my own water without calling the waiter over multiple times. We drink a lot of water! :)

This was the best meal I had in five days at bar harbor. Friendly wait staff, most things can be made gluten free (even the mac and cheese!), there was a ton of avocado in the BLAT. The only thing that was merely average was the happy hour margarita, but as one never expects much of a happy hour margarita, that was fine. Seriously, the one place here that was worth the inflated tourist prices!

Walked in front door and asked if we had two, stood there for two minutes and was finally actually acknowledged. They told us to go somewhere and didnt direct us. The table was dirty. Okay food, better food in the surrounding area. Waitress did not come by until food was half eaten. Saw a worker pick up one of the towels used to clean up the tables off the ground and put back in the designated cleaning box to be used again. Definitely made me feel sick. Confused why it was given such praise.

Fantastic views of the water. We didn't see any seals or whales, but apparently they can often be seen from this point of land. We were there to see big waves breaking on a heavy surf day. Very cool.

Very cute place. The deck area is very nice, perfect for the beautiful day we were having. We ordered the BBQ pulled pork and the burger/ soup combo. Both were really good. The combo meal has a smaller burger than order the burger platter + a soup, but I think this was fantastic. I still couldn't finish the whole plate! Very very good food

I had the burger with bacon and mushrooms and cheese. Very average. Chowder was thick and creamy, too much corn starch but decent clam flavor. My boyfriend enjoyed his ribs with Mac n cheese. Blueberry pie with ice cream was nice, not the best we’ve had in Maine. Big place with lots of tables. Friendly service but it’s hard to run a good place in a seasonal resort town.

Food was OK. Service was nice. Mussels were fantastic and saved the dinner. The sauce was divine and salvaged the severely under seasoned fish tacos (maybe worst fish tacos I’ve had). Northern Cuban was decent.

We ate here on our first night in Bar Harbor, and we were not disappointed! After being led to our table, we were greeted by Tyler, who expertly took our order of fish tacos and a mini burger with garden salad. Both dishes were quite good, and we would like to commend their offering of a smaller burger size paired with salad as a lighter dinner option. We concluded the meal with chocolate bread pudding. Let me describe it for you. A pile of bread pudding as high as Cadillac Mountain itself was surrounded by a moat of dark chocolate, fending away all but the most serious of dessert-eaters. A scoop of vanilla ice cream provided the center piece at the summit, and whispy clouds of whipped cream completed topped it all like a perfect confectionery sky. We left Side Street Cafe satisfied and happy, and we will certainly be back! 10 mountains out of 10.

Over cooked my haddock fish tacos so they were kind of bland and dry. They put coleslaw on top but otherwise quite disappointing especially after many high star reviews. My partner had a salad that was okay as well - nothing special. We looked else where for our next meals.

I definitely recommend sitting at the bar if you're a solo traveller or a couple as the staff are friendly and you can see the activity happening around the restaurant. My server, Rachelle, recommended ordering the lobster roll, which is packed with lobster meat. For the side, I recommend getting the clam chowder as it's packed with flavour. Very filling meal option, although the lobster roll was light on the seasoning, but good nonetheless.

We have been vacationing in Bar Harbor for more than 25 years and we have tried the Lobster Rolls at just about every restaurant. The one here at Side Street is by far THE best I have ever had. It has the meat of 2 full lobsters in it. Very, very light citrusy mayo. It is so good. All their food is awesome. Great atmosphere. Exceptional service and reasonably priced. This place is always first on our list when we arrive. We highly recommend.

Menu provided good options. The place offered indoor and outdoor seating. The food was excellent but the service lacked. We will only waited on for out food order. No one checked on my friend and I. At one point the server would talk to the table to the left and right of us but ignore us. I wanted to order another ice tea but since no one never came to my table never got the chance. I did tell the manager about it and she did offer to help resolve. While I am happy the manager helped, for the these prices I shouldn't be getting sub par service.

Think Bubba Gump with less flavor. Service was excellent, but food was assembly-line style in quality. I came for a Maine lobster experience, but left wholly disappointed in basic lobster roll, lobster dinner, and tasteless mac n cheese. The blueberry pie was completely uninspired. I would have fared better assembling each food item from any local grocer. In fact, I've had better lobster rolls from supermarket delis in Maryland.

Do i dare to say its the best baby back ribs i had in awhile. The meat is tender and falls off the bone easily and the mac and cheese is cheesy good, the combination of two is just the best of both worlds. The clam chowder (not pictured) also by far the best on my week long trip around Maine where the cream and potatoes are not overpowering the clam. The beef burger and the blueberry pie is just ok tho.

We ate here our first night in Bar Harbor. With a Celiac, a vegetarian, and a "meat and potatoes only" person in our group, finding food for everyone can be tricky. Side Street had something for everyone, and I was able to have lobster mac and cheese. The waitress was also gluten free, so she understood the importance of keeping my food separate and so on. The table shared the gluten free warm brownie dessert. I'll definitely go back next time I'm in the area.

We had read reviews about this place and went specifically for the mac n cheese. The waiter (Tyler) recommended the hamburger add on, but my husband did not listen. Our daughter did listen and it was better than the steak. I am picky about my mac n cheese but this was delicious and even getting the half mac I still had leftovers. Fantastic lobster, our favorite place in the area now.

Subtle and not overpowering. We had some special orders with some togo food for part of our party waiting at the hotel after we ate and the staff was perfect in their accommodations.

This place is awesome! Reasonably priced food considering the location. The lobster dinner was a steal. They're also really accommodating if you have food allergies ( my fiance has Celiac's). Definitely check out happy hour at the prices are great. Think it's daily from 4-5:30 but dibble check their website. Casey was our server and she was great! We would definitely come back and highly recommend this place both for the great customer service and the delicious food!

This was a casual place to sit at the bar for dinner (steak and cheese sandwich) and a drink (very good ‘Local Cosmo’). The service was excellent and the locals were friendly. Side Street has a big menu and I was tempted to go back but there are so many eating options in Bar Harbor I wanted to try something new.

First stop in town. Came highly recommended. Well worth the praise. Has a bit of an island bar vibe. Very open with deck seating over looking the street. I had the haddock sandwich and a cup of corn chowder. Both were tasty and Shipyard's Summer Ale is great beer to wash food down with. Service was great and thanks to great graphic design left with shirts as well.

We had dinner here one night and loved it so much we went back the next day. Excellent portions, fabulous food. Our dinner service was excellent- the next day during lunch we opted to sit outside and there was only one girl working the deck due to someone calling in sick but she was amazing- she made sure that if she wasn’t able to help us that round, she would be right back- it wasn’t as though she was ignoring us on purpose, she didnt stop moving the whole time. We can’t rave enough about this place.

Based on the quantity of great reviews we were surprised with our experience at side street Cafe. We've had better meals during our few days in Bar Harbor. Our waitress seemed annoyed that we were ordering, the spinach artichoke dip was straight cheese, the Hometown Burger was bland and veggies didn't seem crisp/fresh, my wife's broiled haddock sandwich was extremely dry and tasteless, and the fries were bland and cost $3 extra per person. But, the environment and outdoor seating on a side street was nice.

I enjoyed the mussels dish, the chicken wings were not my style. They weren’t crispy at all, probably due to the sauce they were coated in, and the chicken was dry, not juicy. I ordered the slider and clam chowder combo as my main dish and it was pretty average. This restaurant is a good option for Bar Harbor, but it wouldn’t be if it was located in a big city.

Came here at late afternoon. They have happy hour so it’s great! But the service was really slow. It took like 25ish minutes to get our main. But it might be because we got a large group so the cooking time is longer. We got crab cake and mussels for share. Both were good, but not great. For mains, I enjoyed my lobster pasta, but I would recommend cutting the lobster meat into smaller sizes before eating them. The seafood melody was also good, so as the cafe special. We also liked their lobster rolls. In general very good food, and the environment was really fantastic!

veggie burgers were very mushy and waaay overpriced... and they also didn’t give us the sauce we ordered. Save yourself the money and get a frozen veggie burger from Trader Joe’s instead.

Great place with lots of cool things too look at. I ordered the steak and cheese with a side of chips and a pink lemonade. The seating was messed up a little in the beginning but was quickly resolved. Overall very satisfied with the food and service.

Expensive for what you get, food a bit bland, our waiter was distinterested. Atmosphere was not bad however and the hostess was very nice. Spinach/artichoke dip not in the same league as others I've had, yet a third more expensive. Black bean wrap filled with good stuff, and was a good size, but lacked flavor and the chips were the saltiest I've ever had.

Asked the local bike shop mechanic (at Bar Harbor Bicycle Shop) where the best lunch spot in town was. He said Side Street and he did not let us down. Great food, great gluten free options, and great service. Did get a bit busy during peak lunch, so consider getting there before noon.

The food was well prepared and the petting was adequate. I enjoyed this Bar Harbor establishment. I had the rack and ribs while my wife had the mini burger with the lobster soup. My wife raved about the lobster soup and the meaty portions. I also enjoyed the rack and Mac. The atmosphere, food and great service set this place aside from a lot of the other places in Bar Harbor. I would definitely be back here again and recommend it to all my friends and colleagues visiting Bar Harbor and Acadia.

A must stop for lunch or dinner while in Bar Harbor/Acadia. The lobster roll was fresh and seasoned just right. My blueberry Mojito was amazing! Place is tastefully decorated. Restrooms were clean. Casual atmosphere with outdoor seating. Menu is extensive and prices were good for the quality of the food and service. This place did not disappoint.

Came here on a Saturday evening, and the place was very busy. We got a seat quickly, but it took a long time for the server to come by. Our food took a long time too, and it was just okay, not great. I ended up getting very sick to my stomach afterwards, I can only assume it was something in my food. My hubby was okay, though. Worst was our meal was almost $50 for meh food. Sorry, but I can't recommend.

The blueberry mint lemonade was great! However, not sure why this place has great reviews as my experience was pretty average. The blue cheese burger barely had any blue cheese in it, which was a big disappointment. The lobster stew was too creamy for my taste but had generous portion of lobster. The lobster mac n cheese was another disappointment. Very boring and not a lot of flavor for the price. Service was great though. Food is meh.

Unfortunately Side Street did not live up to expectations. All the reviews plus the long waits on the weekends sure raised the bar. But truthfully it was nothing more than bar food with a slight twist. We had wings and spinach dip to start. For our meals we had the burger, broccoli cheddar soup and a lobster roll. I can't say that anything was bad but nothing was truly memorable. The location and atmosphere has a cool vibe to it. The staff was friendly and attentive. For us it was just ok.

The first night we arrived in bar harbor we had a reservation scheduled for a large group. However when I called inquiring about a few things they had lost our reservation. A few days later we ate at this restaurant the night we were not able to get into the reel pizza cinerama. Fortunately we were able to get seated very quickly. They have a number of different style entrees like a lobster Reuben. The food was alright. A couple of the dishes had very little flavor, especially the children's food. Our server though was very friendly and responsive.

We had a great time while dining here and the food was excellent. We filled up on strawberry rhubarb margaritas and crab dip appetizer, so we took our unfinished entrees boxed to go back to our cottage. I finished my lobster roll later, the flavors were still strong and I enjoyed it. My partner had the seafood Mac and cheese, which the noodles are shell shaped, which is a nice touch!
