REVIEWS OF Little Dog Coffee Shop IN Maine

Coffee is delicious. I appreciate that they offer a selection of gluten-free baked goods. They keep the music in the shop at a low volume, which is nice. Staff are friendly and helpful.

Make your day by going to Little Dog Cafe!!! It's obvious the dedicated staff is broadening their goals beyond the traditional coffee house by introducing wine, beer and entertainment.

J. Halsey Payne

So you walk in, and it's an empty room with a miniature poodle in the middle and a mug of coffee at the far end. It's pretty straightforward, unlike these new-fangled coffee stores with the fancy drinks. The dog is mean, but as advertised it's little, so it's not hard to get past the tiny fella. Once you circumvent the pooch, you leave a few bucks and take the mug. Easy. The coffee's alright, too.

Jeff Bailey

Great service

Kathie Brown

A great place for a quick breakfast or lunch. They sell locally roasted coffee and coffee drinks and bakery goods. My favorite is their blueberry squares and their smoked turkey and maple carrot pannini!

Francisco Gago

Cozy coffee shop in downtown Brunswick. Great coffee, sweets and lunch menu.

Marji Moser

Atmosphere great; pastries great; sandwiches great; coffee GRRRATE!!!!

Birch Champeon

Quick and delicious

Debora Norton

Always a cozy atmosphere

S W

Nice atmosphere, very popular, slight problem with rude worker. I ordered a sandwich and didn't hear them call it out. They threw it away. When I went to go ask them what had happened to my order the woman behind the counter told me it was my fault and that it's against their policy to remake food when it's the customer's mistake. They did remake my sandwich but that encounter ruined my previously positive impression.

Lynne Holland

The usual slow service, 3 people ahead of me= 15 minute wait. The drinks are well made though.

Patrick Carter

It has reasonable coffee for the price, no free refills. The employees seemed nice enough, but nothing exceptional. The biscotti was a little to thick, so it was hard to bite through. It has a great feel to it, with an array of diffenent places to sit.

Simp Tech

It's a bit pricey, but comfortable.

George Barber

Nice place to stop for coffee, snacks or lunch on Maine St. in Bowdoin

Matthew Landers

Excellent coffee and surperb breakfast sandwiches! The staff is very kind and the atmosphere is lovely. I would highly recommend stopping in for breakfast.

Jillian Savage

The coffee and salads are delicious. I like to stop here whenever I'm in Brunswick.

Ian Talmage

Best little coffee shop in town! Good coffee, good people and nice!

Greg Choquette

Ok

Ken Kleinman

Great coffee, lots of space, quiet, outlets and wifi. Good food if you're hungry. One star of for the prices, which are high.

Emily Biedrzycki

Staff can be cold, but drinks and food are always great.

Luc Collette

It’s your basic college coffee shop with an added twist of Maine structured feminism

April Burgess

Great atmosphere and employees

Mark Tamaleaa

The place is pretty dirty. The people are super super nice though. As far as coffee, no pour overs. Local roast available. EDIT ADD ON: Thank you Paul.

Benjamin Martens

This is my favorite place to get coffee in town. Great coffee, great people, nice place to work, hold a meeting, or get together with friends. I don't usually eat breakfast but I never pass up a cinnamon roll when they have them.

J Knox

I don't know why I haven't tried this place before but now that I have I'll definitely be back (I have to try all the quiches after all). There is plenty of seating inside including a few couches. All the staff that I encountered were very nice and eager to help with any questions. The coffee is Coffee by Design.

John but in Spanish

i wnet here eaxpectoning thet yuo can brenging doggs, nO DOGS ALLOED. very bULLSHET.

Dean Emmerson

Always excellent. Great coffee and food. Comfortable space with interesting artwork displayed. The owner and staff are tops.

Erin Vandine

Oh. My. God. Soooooooo good - food & service is exceptional! Highly highly recommend!!

Felicity Brewer

The coffee is OK, they serve a couple food items like sandwiches and cookies too.

Alvin Da Costa

Good coffee shop. Typical of university town.

Bob Langworthy

Little Dog is the perfect small town coffee shop: the coffee is hot, the pastries are fresh, the staff is friendly, and atmosphere is warm and inviting. Paul has done a great job running this place for many years and I'm happy to be a regular. Pro tip: try the soup.

Herb Warren

Great coffee - while there's plenty of options, I usually stick with a pretty simple cup of dark roast. Molasses spice cookies are all worth a try, too (share with a friend - they're huge).

Katy Petrie

Such a cute place. The face lift has made it modern and efficient. The staff is friendly and the coffee is delicious.

Matthew Tiffany, MS, LCPC

Always a great place to work or have coffee with a friend.

Ronald Valade

I certainly love it here. Their coffee menu is large and delicious along with a variety of breakfast and lunch options. The food is good and the staff is friendly! Lots of seating with plenty of power outlets available to charge mobile devices and plug in laptops. Secured WiFi means that you have to buy something but that keeps lurkers at bay. Trendy and popular with the college crowd. Bowdoin students can typically be found congregated here en masse.

Karen Ray

Delicious food nice atmosphere too bad they ran out of bagels so early

Stan Tupper

I got a ten dollar breakfast sandwich. It was the added items- a microtome sliced tomato and a few milligrams of bacon. What a rip-off. Never again.

W. King

Sitting here with my coffee and muffin makes me ponder why anyone would go to Starbucks. The experience here makes the coffee taste better. I want to stay here when I finish my coffee. I just want sit here and relax. The coffee and food are excellent by the way

Brogan Teel

Love the food and drinks! Super friendly staff, too. Always busy!

Joan Thomas

Great coffee and food

Lynn Smith

Great scones, lunches and people.

Andy Prinsen

Had a latte here - was lukewarm and just not very good. Espresso flavor was weak. Haven't been to any other coffee shops in Brunswick so can't say if there's a better option or not.

David Anderson

Nice staff, nice lighting. Good place to do work, though often crowded on weekends

Karl Maria Fattig

Little Dog is one of the local coffee shops Brunswick is lucky to have. They do Coffee by Design roasts and have the primo location on Maine Street. Espresso drinks are well made and they have some great food choices. Of course it's dog friendly with some of the best outdoor seating in the town. Hours are better than some of the other options. You'll run into lots of friends here. Excellent WiFi as well as comfy couches.

lidamunroe

Favorite coffee shop in all of Brunswick and Topsham. Great little food options and the flavor selection for coffee is pretty vast.

Jason K.

Decent coffee and a few food items. Good internet and coffee spot.

kurt grell

Great coffee, pastries, and miffins. Atmosphere is warm and cozy great place for conversation so much better than Starbucks in my opinion.

Justin Andrus

I was disappointed with how I was treated today. (Edited after consideration).

Anna Bruning

The cafe is incredibly pretentious, and would not get any business if there were more local coffee options. The food is decent, but not worth what you pay. The staff have been incredibly rude every time I've gone in over the course of ten years, save for one time a staff was actually friendly, and I remember because I was so surprised. Like others have said, you will wait a weirdly long time for your coffee, food, or other drinks, while there is almost no one else there, and watch the staff stand there instead of starting an order. The owner responding defensively (and one rudely) to several of the poor reviews on here is probably where the staff inherit their lack of customer service skills. Go to Wild Oats or Bohemian instead.

Matthew Daigle

High quality coffee, great espresso.

Dayana Aparicio

This is the second time I've gone and let me preface this by saying this place seems to have pretty good bakery items (crumb cake, regular bagels and carrot cake are ones I liked) and coffee ( I've gotten the iced chai and it's not too sweet which I appreciate) as well as hard-working people that try very hard to be fast and give good customer service. The atmosphere is good, usually pretty busy so be ready to wait (if you want fast, I recommend Dunkin). The two stars comes from my dissatisfaction with a recent order. We got a raisin bagel with cream cheese and a breakfast sandwich with egg and cheese. Neither item was beyond "okay" (in my personal opinion). The cream cheese didn't taste like anything to me or my partner. We are used to having a creamy cream cheese but the taste of this was very very subtle and so was the seasoning in the raisin bagel, both tasted like diluted versions of what I'm used to. Halfway through the raisin bagel, the taste started to shift towards sesame/everything? Which was really unpleasant and strange. I'm not sure if there was some cross contamination with a different bagel but either way I couldn't finish it and gave it to my partner who does like those types of bagels and she agreed that it tasted like sesame. As for the breakfast sandwich on a plain bagel, the bagel itself was nice, it was toasted well, but the cheese and egg on it were just disappointing. The cheese itself was more sour than what I expected but it could very well have been a mistake in understanding what kind of cheddar it was, the biggest disappointment was the egg. It was like a mix of the microwaved eggs you get in fast-food and fried egg which I'm not sure how to describe. It was mostly whites and no seasoning I could taste. Last thing, this place does have outside seating for you if you have a pet which is a plus.

Henry Arsenault

Keeps me coming back. Great coffee and popular food options with an entertaining view of main street.

Mary LeMieux

Menu said grilled egg...not true. Microwaved egg, precooked bacon. Not good. Muffins are yummy. Espresso pretty good. Cooks should have their hair up. Friendly service.

Linda Pinney

Coffees, a few premade sandwiches and a few cakes and cookies and I think every chair in the place needs to be reupholstered

shellie leger

Fabulous coffee and food

Enwyn Rosethorne

Yeah, it's a pretty cool spot. Nice smoothies. 10 outta 10 would drink again.

Gregory Mailhot

Great coffee choices, great food and great staff. Thanks

Jamie Sanford

Great coffee, awesome place!

Matthew Carr

A variety of CBD coffee, breakfast and lunch food items. Good bagel selection.

Pete Watson

Worst service I've had in a long time they don't care who they are giving Which order to or what you got for an order as soon as they take your money won't waste my time again with the place would rather go to Dunkin Donuts

Jonian Grosha

The cold brew was very good

Luisa

We went to the cafe to see the new renovations and get breakfast and the overall experience was horrible. The seating is no longer as comfortable and the noise levels are so high that it was difficult to place our order, let alone talk to anyone. The first red flag was that no food or coffee products had a price next to them (their old board with that information has disappeared), and when we finally placed our order it was extremely overpriced. For only 2 sandwiches and a cup of coffee it was $24. It took over 15 minutes to get said sandwiches, which were pre-made and only had to be heated up in the microwave. The wait equalled what it would have been at a breakfast diner. The staff was also unfriendly and seemed in no rush to help the long line of customers. Extremely disappointing and certainly won't be going back again, thank goodness Brunswick has other options.

eddie carliell

Between my girlfriend and I were here daily. Never had an issue, they even secured a pair of expensive sunglasses for my girlfriend when she left them there. It's usually pretty busy but they handle the rush smoothly and get orders correct.

Jordan Anderson

Good food, great of coffee... what more could you want.

In Human Creation Media

Very lovely space! I enjoy the drinks and the setting.

Ben Gross

Super tasty baked goods, possibly the best home made veggie cream cheese in the galaxy, and really fresh foods make this place a must stop in Brunswick. That's even before you get to the staff and place itself! Very kind and patient staff, plus a fun setup up. I really like the environmental concern in the offerings too!

Jeff McGivern

Good cold brew. Cool atmosphere. A little short on the pours for my kids hot chocolate and chai lattes though.

Sherri Young

Good but pricey. Not enough places to sit.

B S

I stopped here while RV'ing and had some great cold brew and a surprisingly good bagel. The staff was also really generous in assisting me with a travel need I had. Thank you!

Joyce Spicer

busy little place but cozy and great food

Sockna Dice

Best coffee in town!

Paul Harrington

I expected that dogs are welcomed here based on the name, but that's not so. It was ok.

justin brown

A little slow but great atmosphere

Sarah Feldman

Expensive!

Travis Rosenbluth

Good coffee can be found here

Lori Beaulieu

Came here on a Sunday morning around 9:30 for two breakfast sandwiches and two coffees. It took a little over half an hour to get our food. Lots of others in the same situation, we commiserated whilst waiting. Unacceptable for this type of establishment. I'd like to say the food was worth the wait, but unfortunately it wasn't.

David Knowland

Decided to stop by Brunswick after a nice walk at Bradbury. Stopped in here for some hot cocoa. Man o man, definitely go for the mint if you're here... definitely some of the best hot cocoa around!

Nicholas Hopkins

Had a nice early Sunday breakfast here today. Sandwiches and muffins were great, as was the coffee of course. Nice outdoor seating for people watching along Maine St.

cindy campbell

Nice place to stop for a coffee.

Kayla Berry

I stopped in here to get a quick bagel and coffee for the road. The California bagel was perfectly toasted and delicious. The coffee was great. I wish I lived closer, but this was a smart stop on my way out of Maine.

Tim Glidden

Tasty coffee!

Deb Krieger

Miss the cinnamon rolls and hummus. Really need to rethink the menu. New decor isn't bad but not as homey as it was.

Stacey Mcmahan

Good ,fresh food! Mostly sandwiches. I had quiche and tried one of their very giant homemade oatmeal cookies. Really tasty . Very college ,urban coffee house oriented. Fun place!

Shaughnessey McArthur

Best coffee shop in town!

Nancy Ptacek

Great food and service.

Tyler LeBlanc

The coffee is great, the food on the other hand is not worth what is being charged. For two coffees and two breakfast sandwiches our bill was 26 dollars. The sandwiches weren't bad, I mean they we're better than something you could get at McDonald's, but you can definitely find better food around for this price. In response to the owner reply: yes I did get some extra tomatoes on the sandwich that were not actually put on said sandwich, I was saying that your cafe is better than the typical morning food joint. Our coffees were 16oz so around 5 a piece with tax. But thanks for the well wishes!

Kim Alexander

This cozy little coffee shop is within walking distance to the downtown Maine Street and recently went through a refresher! With new owners and fun new evening hours with open mic nights and board game nights, etc you have to check them out. They have a wide variety of specialty drinks and delicious treats. They have a specials everyday for your breakfast, lunch, and special menus for their events. There is ample seating inside or outside.

Jeanne Burgoyne-Carney

Coffee really wasn't that good. Had lattes and a cappuccino and both tasted like warm milk. Very little coffee flavor.

Michele Stapleton

Go for the coffee, stay for the killer cookies and sandwiches.

Mechelle G

Such a homie atmosphere

Kit Garovoy

Best place for coffee , check your computer, and visit with the locals.

Brandon Goding

I enjoy the drinks, and baked goods. Sometimes the wait can be a little long, but the crew is always working quickly to get you your order inspite if the backlog.

Kim Adams

Good coffee and atmosphere

PatriciaRileySmith BalancedLifestyleSolutions

The service was good but a little bit slow for only one drink that needed to be prepared, they had a good selection of self serve coffee but we're out of more than half of them. Cute environment with decent amount of tables and a few food options.

Guy Marsden

This is a classic college town Coffee shop with all the amenities and coffee Styles Etc

Modern Rustics

Expensive and hoity toity. Fancy pants suggested but not required.

A wonderful place to refresh, visit, have meetings. Nice place.

Soxna Dice

Excellent, strong coffee!!! Pleasant, cozy atmosphere, good food but a limited range of options.

lshorette

Love the goodies and relaxed atmosphere.

Ben Roberts

The shop is nice and inviting but a bit hectic. I wish their food menu were larger and their tea selection more diverse but a good spot for delicious (and I seldom say that) baked goods! Good quiche too...

Alvin D.

Great little place for coffee and a snack

Jean-Marie Haas

Nice variety of beverages & treats; found the staff personable. Seems to be a popular hangout for the college crowd as ALL the seating was occupied by young people with the computers and textbooks. Luckily, it was a warm day and we found a bench up the block where we could enjoy our coffees.

Gwen Liz

Atmosphere can be noisy, but it's a nice large space with comfortable seating. My main issue was the service. Barista didn't pay attention to me or my order. I ordered a chicken salad panini, she asked me to repeat my order and then gave me a coffee cup. Maybe I misunderstood cafe au lait but I don't know why I would pay extra for a regular coffee. The sandwich was a hot mess and lacked flavor, but the coffee was delicious and that's a little more important I might not order food here again, and don't really trust the baristas to make me a prepared drink, but I'd certainly come back for a simple delicious cup of coffee.

mike griffin

Ok but not great coffee

Trevor Geiger

Great staff. Delicious CBD coffee. Right next to my office. What more can I ask for?

George

Delicious food and great coffe!

Mark Wallace Graham

Great coffee and food. Even better staff. We should all support local businesses like this one

k margaret leaff

not my favourite coffee shop. a bit dirty and not the best selection. staff was rude. space is just not cozy, snacks were not tasty. i prefer gelato fiasco's coffe over theirs

Mark Rafferty

I love going here whenever I'm in Brunswick, ME. Cool place with good coffee and treats.

Scott Anderson

Great little coffee shop, great coffee, great atmosphere with a very friendly staff. Will definitely return.

Cameron Markovsky

Good coffee and great atmosphere

Marianna Sargent

Best black and white mocha! Staff is always friendly and fast.

Tom Armistead

Very friendly place. The coffee and snacks were good, and our dogs enjoyed it too.

Rose Fluet

They recently had a COMPLETE makeover, I loved it the old way and I love it even more the new way!! I love the atmosphere, the dri ks and food!! Little dog is my go to place for studying, reading and meeting up with friends! 10/10 recommend 100 percent.

Jason Sirois

Very nice relaxed shop. Coffee is really good.

Miguel Campos

Nice atmosphere, but do not go here if you're in a hurry.

Christopher Hammond

I often meet a friend here before boating, hiking, skiing, or any other activity that may require an early morning rendezvous. A bagel sandwich and juice, then a coffee to go and I'm off. Pleasant people and good food.

Rob P

New owners, same problems. Waited 20 minutes for a toasted bagel( 20 Minutes ). I wasn't the only one either, no organization the staff had little to no clue of what was going on. The kicker, five staff members on. I wanted to try one more time, especially with new ownership but same stuff as the last. Pretentious, overpriced, ok coffee.

Pattye Henry

Good local coffee, good atmosphere, and free WI-FI.

Paul Bayliss

I really like this coffee shop, it's a regular stop when in Brunswick. Can be noisy when full but that just adds to the vibe. Good coffee, good food, good (free) Wi-Fi. If I have a comment it would be that the place could do with a fresh coat of paint but that is minor!

Solastro

Delicious treats at decent prices

Jay Seiler

The Little Dog is great! Very good place to sit and use the laptop or just read the paper and have coffee and a bagel. They serve Coffee By Design which is an excellent local roaster. Recently they underwent a renovation and though the service area is definitely improved I miss the couch and chairs. It's still a great spot in Brunswick. Highly recommend.

Anna Stegall

Loved the coffee

Joe Friant

Quaint little coffee shop with a comfortable atmosphere and a nice selection of pastries!

Isaiah Thomas

Great coffee great people I went to the town the coffee stand is in for vacation and went there almost every day iced white chocolate mocha was sooo good

Fred Wiesinger

I really liked the California sandwich for breakfast: avocado, cream cheese, tomato, and coarse black pepper on a bagel.

Courtney Ô

Great little shop. Their hummus wrap makes a great, easy lunch.

Joseph Buckles

Good selection of drinks made correctly. Decent quick options for breakfast. Friendly staff.

Stephanie

It was a long wait, but the service was incredible and the product was well worth the wait.

Ned Horton

Coffee shop vibe!

Jeffrey Sheffield

The food was absolutely amazing! The server was an absolute riot! What a wonderful experience. Carl keep up the great work love your awesome personality!

Signe Vaughan

Great place for coffee or dessert and hangout with friends

Jamie Spier

I love this place

Mike Curley

Good food and drinks but every time I've gone I stand in line for 10-15 minutes just to order which is excessive just for a coffee..

Jonathan Erde

They served me the best Latte that I have ever had. I also recommend their sandwiches. Little Dog is a very comfortable place to spend time whether you need to work or relax. They always are always welcoming to their guests. It's a good place to play board games. They have all of the new classics like Settlers of Catan, Splendor, and Dixit, as well as the ones every one knows and loves like Scrabble and Cribbage. They also serve wine and beer. Wifi is always available.

Whitney Smith

We were so excited to find a place with gluten free bagels and muffins! Our excitement waned quickly as it took 18 minutes from when we walked in the door to get two bagels. There was one person in line before us And there were 4 people behind the counter. These folks seemed to spend more time chatting among themselves than working on orders and "urgency" was certainly not a word they've heard before. On top of that, the bagel was so bad, we each spit it out. We've both been gluten free for many years and have had more than our fair share of horrible gluten free things but these bagels now have the dubious honor of being at the top of the list!

catherine knott

Excellent breakfast sandwiches and really good coffee drinks.

Dave Vendetti

Never have I felt a more uncomfortable feeling then when I walked into this place. My family and I stopped in for coffee and it was like I was on the set of a new "hipster's only" sitcom. The looks from the other customers and a woman in her mid 40's (behind the counter, dark hair) were less then inviting, like as if we were lost and they were confused on why we were there. Did not feel welcomed in any way shape or form. We will not be going back.

Nate Hoy

Cozy local coffee shop with good pastries and tasty food.

Benjamin Bernier

The staff earned the stars as they were friendly and polite but the espresso tasted burnt and overly bitter to me. Maybe it was just my palate. Edit 4/18/19: A friendly reply from the Little Dog Team about recent evaluation and an unexpected apology has convinced me to visit back in the future
