This Coffee Shop belongs to the category of Breakfast restaurant.
Great food, reasonable prices. It and the nearby bakery with same name have some of the best pastries I've ever eaten. Service was good, very friendly staff.
This is the PREMIER breakfast stop in Rockland, Maine. We went twice during our four day stay. The service is swift, kind, and incredible. Kim was an absolute gem to us despite it being incredibly busy. The food is bar none. Vibe is cozy, homey dining room. Place is always busy but there's never a long wait. The upstairs diner is a treat.
Had 2 slices of the french toast, wasn't super impressed especially given the price, took forever to actually get a table and parking was a nightmare with all the people waiting outside. If you can afford the prices then I suppose it's worth it since they tout everything as being fresh and local but overall I think I'll skip eating here in the future
Ask for the lobster you won't be disappointed.
Had the corn beef hash (have to ask for it crispy), sausage and gravy, blueberry pancakes and the sticky bun - all were excellent and would highly recommend. Had to wait for about 20 minutes for a table of 4 around 10am, so would recommend getting there earlier. Nice upper patio that overlooks the water.
Good vegetarian breakfast food.
Wow. Hands down the best food in Rockland. The Reuben was the best I've ever eaten. They make the rye bread here and that makes all the difference! There bakery is incredible as well. Whoopie pie definitely worth the calories!
This the best restaurant in the Rockland, Maine area for lunch. It isn't open for supper/dinner. They are open for breakfast and lunch only. They have a large menu and specials daily. It is a fairly small restaurant and there is always a wait. But, the wait is totally worth it. Their haddock chowder is the best (outside of my mother's) in the area with large chunks of haddock. Their breakfast items and sandwich plates are large. Great place and they have a new parking lot in the back of the restaurant.
Outstanding food and service. Salmon bene was yummy!!!!
Super great food! Very reasonable prices. Awesome service. May be busy and have to wait some but well worth the wait!
Kim was awesome!! Everyone is very nice. Started with a sticky bun, as everyone should!! I had the steel cut oatmeal which was amazing blueberries & bananas!! My husband had an omelette also very good!! We got a side of home fries also very good!! Highly recommend hope to go back soon & try some lunch.
Love....love....love this place! Great fresh quality food and the wait is worth it!
Amazing food. Perfect food before climbing a mountain!
Good food, great atmosphere but there is almost always a wait
This is the best TexMex cooking this side of the Mississippi. Sticky buns and cinnamon rolls that will feed a family of four.
Excellent food. Never had a bad meal.
The wait time was small, the staff was helpful and the food was great. Only reason why I took off a star was the food did not match the price that was paid. A great place for lunch and all day breakfast and parking to beat the band. They had everyone helping when I entered the building with my guest and all the staff had a smile on their face. I was a bit disappointed with my french toast sticky bun, but that was because they used a lot of sugar, this is my personal preference so please do not let that impact the review. If you a looking for a place to eat, I would reccomend this place.
Awesome! So good we went two days in a row. Great staff, tremendous food.
They don't take reservations, their is always a wait, and the service is a bit slow, but none of that matters. You deal with those things because the food and experience are great! The first floor isn't much but the second floor has a great view, if your lucky enough to get seated up there. Home Kitchen Cafe is my favorite breakfast spot on the Mid-Coast, but they also have lunch. I have had all sorts of thing on the breakfast menu and never been disappointed, and their home fries are to die for. I tried lunch for the first time today and I must say the fish tacos were some of the best I've had. Great place to grab a bite and well worth the wait!!
Great food and service
Friendly & helpful service. Waitress was very attentive. Nice variety of choices on the menu. Food was delicious ! Will definitely visit again.
Definitely my favorite place to grab breakfast at in rockland. Everyone is very friendly and welcoming. The food is unbelievably delicious. I have tried most everything on the menu and its always fantastic. I have never had anything not worth trying here. Very great place!
Popular place for lunch. Had to wait for a table but it was worth it. Had chicken Thai salad and turkey sour kraut on rye sandwich. Both dishes were fantastic. The rye bread was homemade and made all the difference. The Thai peanut sauce had just enough spice and was perfect for my palate.
A clean, contemporary cafe with a local vibe and excellent, down-home cookin'! The "Sinnie" bun is every bit as sinful (delightfully so!) as it sounds. Every meal delivered to the table looked delicious, and the Huevos Rancheros was perfect. With a smattering of fresh-baked-on-premises goodies and a rockstar waitstaff, we will most definitely be back. The wait was perfectly reasonable for 11am brunch on a Sunday with a party of four (15 min or so), there's plenty of free street parking, and the ocean is directly across the street. Looks to have an outdoor patio overlooking the water that opens in the warmer months.
Waited for more than a hour for breakfast food at lunchtime and then i had them just box it up so I could go back to work I was missing food when I got to work to eat it. Way to busy place for not so good service never go there again.
Real tasty home cooking with a wonderful, friendly and helpful waitresses.
It's really hopping! We had breakfast and it was delicious. One of us had sticky bun French toast and the other had eggs & biscuits and gravy. You get a lot of food so be prepared to have leftovers.
Great food, friendly service! The sticky buns & homeade corned beef hash are my FAVES!! The best spot for breakfast!
Great food! Friendly staff :) Had a blueberry mimosa and blueberry pancakes along with home fries with peppers and onions. I loved it all!
I live three hours away but might drive back here to get the huevos rancheros again. Hands down best I have ever had. Such quality ingredients and care taken in the making of this food. My husband had the omelet, super fluffy and tasty. Totally worth the wait for a table, just sit and be patient, you won't regret it. The girls working here will take great care of you!
Excellent food and service. The Huevos Rancheros are fantastic. Don't over think it...just go there :)
Best breakfast food ever and fine staff. Being was once a gas station garage it can be rather noisy inside. Being so good the wait times are long, especially during tourist season, and there is not a whole lot of parking.
Great food comfort food.family gathering place
food is great table services great The only thing that needs work is the hostess she's never friendly very abrupt and just doesn't smile
One of my top 3 breakfast joints. Dude, they make their own tortillas and have food that was fully prepared on site by real cooks. They also own a s high op just south of here that serves as a bakery, ice cream and burrito shop.
Always a great stop when I am in Rockland. Try the Juevos Rancheros, the best east of the Mississippi and probably top 3 in the States. Never a disappointment.
AMAZING!
This is the best breakfast in town. I've been coming here for years. The breakfast is consistently delicious. The staff is always friendly and accommodating. Never had a bad meal, always great experience.
Eclectic and wide-ranging menu with items from frittatas to banh mi. Friendly and efficient service and much of the wait staff give good tips for tourists. And, unlike many of the local establishments, they are open on Sundays. Spacious place but still can get very crowded.
The warm inviting atmosphere, and good food is what gives this restaurant a 4star review. If I had had a more attentive waitress it would've gotten a five. The issue I had was she was so worried about the regular customers, that she forgot to make the new customers feel welcome. But the huevos rancheros was very tasty, and my 4yr old loved the giant fruit bowl she got. The portion sizes were excellent given the reasonable price for the meal.
Amazing food! Great service. Worth the wait time
The food is fantastic never a bad meal and the girls are phenomenal that work there. Wonderful atmosphere
Super busy, long wait but great food.
It wasn't what it appears to be a. No clams, french fries, no shrimp, Boone came to ask how meal was & more workers then people eating . Could of been lots better. Strange menus.
Everything is homemade and just wonderful.
Food is always fantastic. The service is amazing.
Great food. Great people
Great food but always a wait.
The omelet my husband had was perfectly prepared. The fried potatoes with onion and peppers were very burned. The coffee was great!
Excellent fresh food and good service
I waivered between a two to four star rating. The service was great. Our server was amazing. Everyone else in my party enjoyed their meals and loved the food. I did not. My steak (t bone) was almost too sweet with whatever marinate they used. I will go back and get something else because the atmosphere and service were phenomenal, and every one else in our ten person party loved their food. That's why I'm giving a four star- based on their reactions to the place.
Had a great meal from an incredibly friendly staff.
I just had the best haddock sandwich ever the brioche house made bun and fantastic coleslaw made it even better to to top it of service was friendly and warm
Exceptional food at reasonable prices. It is the best breakfast-lunch restaurant in Midcoast Maine.
Sometimes table service is a bit slow, but that's often because it's so busy! Overall this is one of my favorite spots to eat in Rockland. Sticky buns are outrageously good! Excellent coffee.
Excellent food and very nice staff.
Breakfast at Home Kitchen Cafe this morning. Seated upstairs where there was only one server who did a great job! Food a little bit slow coming out since the place was full with patrons. However our server took great care of us with keeping our coffee mugs refilled. Food very good! Very generous portions! And, great service!
Gave four stars because one of the waitresses got impatient with our group. We were a large group of 12, so I get it, however it was so loud inside that my grandparents who are in their 70s could not hear her. Besides that, the food was pretty good and most of the waitresses were nice. The wait was pretty long for us, about 45 minutes but like I said we were a large party.
Great food and service CONSISTENTLY over the years.
Excellent food great service
Wonderful place with amazing food and awesome service.
The best breakfast in the area is at Home Kitchen Cafe! I have been here many times and have yet to be disappointed. The food is always good as well as the beverages. I do wish they served moxie but that is a nitpick of mine. I will be back to try the clawedfather sandwich soon!
Good breakfast and lunch. No better place at any price to eat in the area Good value
I am never disappointed. I always go here when I need an extra good breakfast or lunch. It can be tough to choose from the large menu but it just means I’ll have to go back over and over.
Awesome. Love the food and the vibe. The pancakes are HUGE
Great food and atmosphere. Always a popular place
Always delicious! And great service!!
Great food friendly staff!
Enormous omelets available, other breakfasts of similar large portions. Good food, pleasant atmosphere.
great food and service..beautiful , clean premises..highly recommended
Very good food, quality fresh ingredients, awesome friendly staff, generous portions, and great prices. Worth the wait if it's really busy - which it usually is!
Everything was fantastic, great find. Up here from PA, staying on Bailey island. We hope to be back. Thanks
Great food with a fun menu and great service- friendly
Perfect ending for a family celebration. 20 people arrive and were greeted with humor and care as staff worked to seat us in the same section. Vett and staff were gracious, professional and fun... laughter and Vett's humor was uplifting. Food was delicious and staff was attentive to us while continuing to wait on others. Thank you for the great food, silly humor and patience serving a large group. Stop by, enjoy the delicious food and get some fun- loving comments from Vett. BEST PLACE EVER!!
Great food and friendly service.
Simply the best and worth the wait. Not only is the food superb, the staff is as friendly and as professional as you would expect in a fine restaurant. I am sure that anything on their extensive menu would be prepared to perfection. The only complaint that I have about this restaurant is having to choose one thing from the menu. Everything looked so good!
Diappointing. Waitress said soft crab sandwich. Came as WHOLE (shell, claws, legs) on a bun. We did not eat.waitress said I am not owner so I cannot do anything. Boo! Sadly disappointed in meal, staff and service.
Ordered the garden Benedict, no tomatoes, with home fried potatoes.. also the homesteader with homemade hash. Every thing was so good. Place was a bit noisy but nothing to complain about. It was a Saturday morning and summer is coming. Definitely recommend this place.
So inviting, right when you walk in you are greeted with a smile. The decor is appealing and warm. The menu is extensive and their choices for egg dishes have something for everyone. I had the special baguette french toast and was amazing. Great flavor, little crispy on outside and moist inside. And actual maple syrup. Servers are pleasant and attentive. Tasty coffee. A great stop for breakfast, need to try for lunch.
If you have never been here, you need to treat yourself. I have been here 3 times now for breakfast and have been blown away each time. The menu is extensive and the flavors in the food are amazing. Most of the ingredients are sourced locally, which I really have an appreciation for. The staff here is very attentive and friendly, which just adds to the experience. The only drawback I have found is that breakfast can be a little pricey, but when you are supporting farmers by sourcing ingredients locally, there is going to be a trade off. One of these days I am hoping my schedule works out to go for lunch.
This was bu far the best breakfast i have ever had in a restaurant!!! The food and service was amazing. We will definitely come here again!!!
Great staff and excellent food
Indeed this felt like home food.. Staff was very nice and courteous..we tried the Stir Fry Veggies with meat..food was plenty and delicious.. Expect wait times as the place is always buzzing.. don't forget to try the carrot cake..yum!!
Always yummy. Bread was awesome!
Excellent lunch. Great service. Good value! A favorite restaurant with great comfort food!
I love this place. Great food and great staff.
As always, excellent.
Busy place, but worth the wait.
Very fresh, not greasy. Blueberry pancakes are fabulous!
This is our favorite place to have breakfast when we are in the area. Good coffee, homemade breads and an extensive menu to choose from. My wife has family that lives nearby so we usually eat here at least once while visiting with them. They are usually pretty busy so be prepared to wait a bit before being seated but it's definitely worth the wait.
Tha bomb
Seems like a popular spot, but not sure what all the fuss is about. Got the standard eggs, bacon and home fries which were OK. Wife got a omelette which again was just OK. If the line is long I would go elsewhere, not worth the wait in my opinion!
Love breakfast, esp Mexican but tried the rice, a new contender
Delicious! Breakfast burrito, every time.
Excellent food and different always busy
Filling Breakfast All Day and Lunch too. Also have Lobster Omelet specials. Food is very good.
Always delicious! My favorite is "Homeschooled" , the fish taco dinner. I can't have gluten and they have a gluten free version. Which I absolutely love. Great gluten free pancakes too. Their gluten free chocolate cupcakes are to die for. They serve coffee from Rock City Roasters, a local company that makes fabulous coffee. You pretty much can't go wrong with anything in their menu.
Great omelets and other breakfast dishes. Nice, bright place, cheerful staff
A great Hometown Cafe breakfast and lunch only but excellent very busy place good prices
You had me at homemade bread. Incredible. And great food.
We had a wonderful lunch here. The portions were big and everything was very tasty. The sauce on the fish tacos was awesome. The home fries with onions and peppers were delicious! The desserts were great too. Also, our waitress Suzanne was very awesome! All in all a great place.
Hometown & visitor favorite spot for high quality, amply portioned comfort foods all day long. Expect to wait 10-30 minutes for a table or bar seat. Great service. Clean restrooms. Moderately priced. Extra parking out back or on the street.
It's always a very nice experience at Home Kitchen Cafe because the delicious food is well prepared from the freshest ingredients, and all the staff are delightful. Our go to place for the best comfort food. Portions are generous.
Great food!
Delicious eggs bennie. Love it. Yum yum yummy
Delicious but a little pricey
Best gluten free bread ever and best vegetarian reuben! Great service
Nicely prepared meals with more than generous portions. Homemade bread, sticky buns and cinnamon buns (all delicious)
Always good food at home Kitchen. Great selection for breakfast. You can’t go wrong with any of the breakfast selection I do like the way Vos rancheros as well as their homemade corn beef hash but there are many other good things to choose from. The smell of coffee always seems to be in the air. Service is always consistent with a smile it’s a great place to go.
Favorite place to eat in Rockland
Great food for breakfast & lunch. Healthy or comfort food, they have many options. We always make it a point to stop here when we are in town.
Yes good food nice folks
First time at home kitchen .I had the pleasure to visit twas. The food was outstanding. The staff is always going above and beyond.
We got here just before it opens and there was already a small line. The omelette was perfectly cooked. The grilled blueberry muffins were amazing. Plenty of coffee and tea refills. Bacon was nitrite free, added bonus. Service was A+ including filling my water bottle before we left.
This place does some dang good business. Busy no matter what time of year you go visit. This was honestly one of the grilled cheese sandwiches I have ever had. Super fun spot that I highly recommend checking out.
A short wait is to be expected but so so worth it!! fast friendly service everytime!
Amazing food and fantastic service
Their homemade wheat bread was the best I've ever eaten. Everything was perfect and the lemonade was soooo good. We will be back!
I was visiting from Britain, cycling from Maine to DC, and stopped here one Saturday morning in early May for breakfast. Great breakfast! Set me up for the day. And when I asked for the check, was told that someone who had just left had paid it. Thank you to my anonymous benefactor. Thank you to Home Kitchen Cafe for a lovely experience. xxx
This place is my favorite!! Not only is the food delicious, the service is great! Friendly, happy staff!! Highly recommended!!
The BEST breakfast im Rockland, ME... Get parked early, there's always a wait for homecooking!
Wonderful service, menu and food. GF options. Fair pricing. Expect a wait for seating.
Wow!!! The food is hot and delicious. Served quickly. A little expensive, but a great treat.
Best breakfast in Rockland. Homemade cornbeef hash and cinnamon rolls are awesome!
Best restaurant in Me! Best waitress (ask for Zan), Best Lobster Bloody Mary, Amazing Lobster Omelets, Sinful Homemade Deserts. 6 out of 5...
delicious food and friendly staff made for a great breakfast
Excellent food well prepared and cantankerous staff. What's not to love!?
Fast and friendly service. Very comfortable atmosphere. Had the house made corned beef hash,by far the best I’ve ever tasted. Poached eggs were cooked to perfection and the homemade wheat toast was absolutely delicious! Will definitely make it a point to return next time I am in the area for a visit.
There was a great selection of healthy, homemade dishes. Everything looked delicious! I had the stir fry which was incredible, and my husband had the pan fried haddock with brown rice (yum). The food was so fresh and hot to the table. They use local ingredients, and cook when ordered. The staff was very nice and I would go back in a heartbeat.
Good food! A popular and busy place, especially during brunch hours on Sunday. There is often but not always a wait in the Summer. Outdoor seating on rooftop with water views of the working harbor. Staff friendly.
Well worth the wait! Best sausage gravy and biscuits I've ever had!
Always dependable. Good food, great service, reasonable prices.
This place was amazing! Delicious vegan options with helpful staff & a great atmosphere. One of my favorite brunch meals I've had
Delicious. Definitely one of the better breakfast spots in the area!
A must visit when in Rockland. Amazing food, amazing service. Make sure to get there early or be ready for a (worthwhile) wait, because it fills up quick and they do not take reservations.
Delicious, as always. Righteous portions
Stopped in while sailing Up the coast close walk from the dock. Great food good service couldn’t be happier stopped twice.
This is the best restaurant in Rockland. Everything is home made and prepared to perfection. HKC has an eclectic menu ranging from home made corned beef hash to huevos rancheros, there is truly something for everyone. I can't reccomend this restaurant enough. There is often a short wait to get a seat during breakfast, but it is rarely more than 10 minutes to get a seat and is well worth it.
If you are searching for a hearty Maine Blueberry breakfast, go no further than this restaurant. The pancakes are absolutely the most delicious I have ever tasted. Unique in flavor, they are certainly "Blue Ribbon".
The best brunch in town! Can't wait to go back there!!
Friendly servers and cute place. Great food!
Experienced in good quality food
Great place to eat with all local ingredients. I would recommend it to anyone. All of the staff r very polite, friendly n attentive.
Great place to eat and if your craving a sandwich that will make you smile try there other store close to home
Good service , I will be back
Had breakfast here on our weekend getaway, my husband had Eggs Benedict w/corned beef over oat bread toast, he said he REALLY enjoyed the toast, thought he should have ordered more of it, I had poached eggs w/polenta, I also had home fries & sausage, needless to say, that came home w/us, that was REALLY good, OMG the coffee is great too, VERY friendly staff, it is busy there, so be prepared to wait, not too long though, they don't rush you out, come here for breakfast or even lunch, you will not be disappointed
Staying at samoset resort and upon having a really bad experience just getting a drink at the hotel bar we decided not to eat at their restaurant. We waited maybe 15 minutes to sit outside on the deck, the food was awesome, and the service was great. 10/10 would recommend to anyone staying in this area for breakfast.
Over all this was an awesome place. The food was good and reasonably priced. We got our food in a reasonable time. just a nice atmosphere
I love the veggie omlet! Yum!!
Homemade biscuits in Maine!! The biscuits and gravy are the best in the state!
This is a great place to have breakfast or lunch in Rockland. A lot of their food is from scratch or homemade including their bread. They have their own versions of some specialty food like lady in the house, it's a specialty version of a madame croque. They also have blueberry mimosas made from Maine Blueberries! The Establishment itself is very warm and cozy.
I have been eating burgers for 65 years!!! Beyond a doubt, James the owner, serves the BEST Backyard Burger that I have ever eaten. Positively the finest. Thanks James....and Susan
The food here (breakfast especially) is quite simply amazing. Best eggs Benedict ever (particularly the Blackstone). Yes - they are usually busy, and there will be a wait. Only time we've gone that there wasn't a wait was 9:30am in a Monday. The food is worth it! Service is cheery and friendly, but as most things are made by scratch it will not be fast.
Chicken quesadillas best I ever ate.
Great little place to go.
The bees knees! Nom nom nom!
Excellent stickie buns! 1 is big enough to share. Try the Bennie Mac, different and dekicious!
Always crowded, but, fast seating. Great selection of food. Any time I have eaten there, it was delicious. Friendly staff.
