One of the coolest names for a coffee house. Very knowledgeable staff. The espresso has really great notes. Definitely worth trying.

Stumbled upon this coffee shop when we first arrived in the city for a trip while looking for coffee. We ended up going three times over one weekend! Cute, cozy, great selection, very hospitable & efficient staff, and one of the smoothest espressos I've ever had in a to go Cafe! Wish they sold t-shirts (they had bags) honestly, even loved the logo!

I've gone here for personal time and for professional development projects. The design is simple, yet refreshing, bright, with a lot of natural decor. The staff is friendly and knowledgable. There's a large table near the back of the shop where I've brought a group to work on projects. We were able to spread out, use our laptops, and have discussions without bothering other patrons or taking away extra tables. Their coffee and tea selection is fantastic! There's also a great selection of baked goods from local shops that rotates regularly! They're definitely a hidden gem in Portland!

Solid spot for a Sunday breakfast visit. Nice hot coffee and variety of tasty food options. Recommend the muffin-sized frittata with bacon. Not much seating available so plan ahead in case there are no seats available.

Real good quality coffee and baristas who know how to make authentic Italian style lattes and cappuccino's. This is a coffee shop for everyone with a great chilled vibe in store. Just how a coffee shop should be. Definitely worth a visit!

BEST COLD BREW IN THE CITY - Why waste your time with the cold brews of other places when this coffee shop ace's it 10/10. Atmosphere is awesome, the staff is awesome, and you can get an awesome cold brew in a few seconds.

Love this gem of a café, so glad to have a plave like this in Portland! The coffee is delicious, best hot chocolate in town, and the herbal tea blends are lovely. The staff is always so welcoming and kind, and the atmosphere is warm and inclusive.

Pretty mediocre coffee honestly. I got a latte and it was mostly mik, not a super espresso taste at all (not even a normal amount of espresso taste honestly). My wife got a sort of London fog where they used a different type of tea, and it was way too watery. My brother got an iced coffee and it tasted good, but was way overpriced for just an iced coffee. Ok coffee and too overpriced for what we got as a stop at this coffee shop as we visited Portland for the day

Super friendly, knowledgeable staff, chill atmosphere with lots of plants, and amazing coffee! They even offer vegan caramel sauce made from condensed coconut milk and several different types of non-dairy milk for beverages

Fantastic coffee, I'll definitely be returning. I had a coconut caramel latte and it was great. My fiancé had one of their pour-over specials and it, too, was very good. Priced well and tax was included in the pricing which is very convenient. I didn't get to try any of the pastries but they looked delicious and hand made. As others have mentioned, it's a bit plain inside but it's not a huge deal if you're more interested in quality coffee than a super cozy spot. I do hope they can spruce things up inside, though.

Came in for a chai and it was one of the worst ones I ever tried. I believe they brew tea bags and then just mix with milk. The tea concentration was way to light so it pretty much add no flavor. The place is super cute and it is in a super cool street. I loved the vibe inside, they even name their plants. I will be back to try their coffee, hopefully will be way better then the chai. They also sell baked goods from local bakeries.

This place is delicious, cozy and they have outdoor seating which is a must for me whenever the sun is out! The staff is knowledgeable, know what I want but can also surprise me with suggestions of beverages that I wouldn’t otherwise think of. Like their home made vegan coconut caramel sauce. The reason I keep coming back is because of their personal and exceptional service and quality of coffee!

This place serves the BEST iced tea in town. The staff is also extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the huge range of products that they sell. Whether I am looking to focus on work, or for a beautiful place to relax with friends, Higher Grounds is always the first spot that I think of. You really get the sense that everybody working there loves what they do. When you add that on top of the quality of their products you get a spot that really stands out among all of the other cafes in Portland. 13/10, would highly recommend!!!

Very original! I love exploring different coffee shops. Higher Grounds combines two very old and traditional, practices by probing one to indulge in the very ancient remedies of apothecary arts, and the more familiar comfort of coffee. Staff was very friendly and the atmosphere was earthy and simple, a reflection of their love for the remedies of plants and herbs. I have not tried their food but I will be back!

Great quaint spot! Friendly owners / baristas, will definitely return. Our drinks were excellent. Only complaint: the outlets should be more closely located to the tables. They should provide extensions that reach to multiple tables. Perhaps this was their intent to provide a more person-to-person experience, which is fine, but sometimes you just need to charge your phone or do some work on your laptop.
