Just finished a birthday brunch here. The food was seasonal and perfectly prepared. The duck egg hash was delicious, and my boyfriend said the breakfast sandwich was the best he’d ever had! Would definitely come back, and highly recommend!

We came here our first night in Portland and it was close to our Airbnb. It was a great welcome to the area! We tried a little bit of everything - their wine list was amazing! We also had their mussels, beef tartare and the charcuterie and cheese board. All were delicious!! The service was friendly, and even though we came about 1.5 hours before closing, they were great!

I ate at this great little gem tonight for about the fifth time. It has never failed to delight. In this city of great little restaurants this one stands out. There are several marks of a really good restaurant for me. The first of course is the food. Without that, nothing else matters. Blue Spoon never disappoints. The wild mushroom toast is as good a dish as you'll find anywhere in this city of great house dishes. The second is that you can tell the staff likes working there. It is always evident that this is the case at Blue Spoon. I always eat at the bar and the interplay between the wait staff and the kitchen, the way servers treat their customers exudes job satisfaction. The third is that I leave the restaurant happier than when I come in. This never fails at Blue Spoon. What can I say? Go there! Eat there! You'll be happy you did!

We love the Blue Spoon. Cozy and not overly pretentious. You'll be challenged for a walk in on a busy restaurant night so recommend reserving.

I had the chicken and it was cooked perfectly and delicious. One of my friends had the special which was a mushroom pasta which was really good. The pork chop was just okay it was quite fatty. And the risotto was also just okay. The cheese board was delicious. We all enjoyed that. There was a limited wine menu but I really enjoyed the Pinot Gris.

Barbara Bauman

New owners may have raised the bar on a always great restaurant. Menu includes lots of special touches to each choice. Great grilled onion starter and excellent black bass with fennel and endive with light orange sauce, yum! The parsnip cake was a perfect finish.

Rick Knowles

I stopped in for a egg and cheese on english muffin. The staff managed to juggle multiple customers at once, allowing me to be seated quickly. The breakfast sandwich was outstanding as it included a homemade english muffin, fresh eggs and tomato, nice flavorful cheese and avocado. The iced cold brew coffee was excellent as well. I'll be eating there again.

Staff was wonderful! The first night of our trip we walked in, but they had no availability. The hostess was fantastic and help is find another restaurant that we would enjoy, which we did. We returned the following night with a reservation and had a wonderful meal. A very thoughtful and creative menu. This is a must experience when visiting Portland!

A smaller restaurant than you may think from the photos online may display; however a cozy and intimate setting. Excellent service and food quality was spectacular. The display of the food showed care, and skilled for the craft. All of the dishes we had seem to have a wide, complex variety of flavors that complemented each other nicely. For drinks, Blue Spoon has a Wide variety of wines mostly. With a few choices for cocktails.Overall, an upscale restaurant for fine dining, and would highly recommend.

Blink on your way up Congress Street toward the Eastern Promenade, and you might just miss this one. But you don’t want to. Fresh and locally sourced ingredients are at the core of what Chef/owner David Iovino is turning out in this cozy corner restaurant atop Munjoy Hill. A great spot for lunch OR dinner, their Bistro Burger is an award winner, but be sure to explore the rest of the menu too. You won’t be disappointed.

This place was only ok. If you have a picky eater in your party they will not only struggle, but likely not find something to eat. The place was small and cramped. The food was good but over priced and you did not get much. It is also not Italian. so the description is slightly deceiving.

Blue Spoon was an amazing dining experience, and I would definitely return in the near future. The food was absolutely delicious and the service was what really sold it for me. Blue Spoon has a very warm, cozy, and intimate feel to it and it all has a personable vibe to it. Anyways, for my dining experience, I am very happy that they managed to fit 11 of us into the restaurant within the same day. Hope was our server and she was phenomenal from the moment we walked in to the moment we left. Despite being seated somewhat close to closing time, there was no pressure for us to leave from the staff (but we made sure to try to leave as soon as we could) and we greatly appreciated Hope and the kitchen staff for all of the hard work they put in to make this experience an unforgettable one

Dinner was loved by all. Great food allergy options.

Best eggs Benedict I've ever had... And that's my go to for brunch, so I've had a few! I got the ham+spinach and the slightly garlicky spinach puts it over the top! Awesome place with great ambiance and service. Will definitely be going back next time we're in town! Highly recommend it!

I have no idea how they make their fried polenta SO good. Whenever I think about it, I cry a little knowing I'm not eating it. Thursday nights seem to be the best nights to go. So good. Wish they had a larger space to bring groups, but also, am not sure that would be worthwhile.

You won't be disappointed. Went with friends and tried the whole menu, not sure how often it changes but it was all very good. No single dish stood out enough to lend to specific recommendations. The staff was polite and competent and the location was cozy while seeming clean and comfortable.

The food is absolutely wonderful. A nicely curated menu, with a selection that will appeal to every palate (pork loin, beef shank, trout, mussels, and vegetarian options were on offer tonight). For an appetizer, I had the special of grilled broccolini with lemon and procciutto, and my companion and I shared mussels. My entree was buttermilk oriechette with wild mushrooms and delicioso squash. Everything was divine. The only reason for 4 vs 5 stars is the decibel level. While Blue Spoon is a tiny restaurant that fits about 20 diners, it is unbelievably loud! I could not hear my friend across the table and had to lean in to catch her conversation. The noise level really took away from the dining experience. I'm not sure I will be back despite the excellent food.

My favorite place in Portland, hands down. The cocktails are exceptional, the beers are always on point, and the food is delicious. The best part, however, is the crew. Truth be told, my main reason is to come by and see Katie, Jenny, Emily, Jason, Leah, and the rest of the crew. It's a true neighborhood spot.

Food quality and taste is dropping, I'm sad to say. It's always busy so I can only suspect they aren't working as hard as they could. At the top of the hill, there aren't many other options, but as Washington St continues to grow with foodie establishments, the blue spoon may need to pick up it's game, refresh the menu to stay on top. Our sever, Seena, was super, so no issues with service. They just need to improve Flavor!

Amazing food. Intimate setting.

Good atmosphere and service. Our waiter was very friendly and helpful with questions about the menu, and the location of the restaurant combined with the comfortably small interior give it a cozy, small-town feeling. The food left something to be desired. Appetizers were brought out quickly, but the entrees took close to an hour to arrive at our table from when the order was placed, and that's just for a party of two on a night that wasn't particularly busy. The rare steak I had ordered had a bit too much charring to ignore, and the person I was with had to go with a seafood dish because there are no vegetarian or vegan options anywhere on the menu, something that would be far more inconvenient to a more staunch vegetarian. Not a bad location by any means, very comfortable location, but better for an event where you know you'll want to be in the restaurant for a long time, like a family gathering. Not as great for a casual dinner out.
