Everyone who visits Richmond or the surrounding area must come try this place - they will not regret it. Every single menu item is delicious! Any combination you can (or can't) imagine is possible here. And if you enjoy playing board/card/trivia games, this place is great. They have a whole slew of great games to pick from. You can't go wrong visiting this place in the heart of Richmond.

Service was very slow even though the cafe was no where near full at the time. Only one person behind the counter to take orders and prepare ice creams. They were out of multiple flavors when trying to order ice creams. First and only time we’ll visit. Don’t plan on going back.

Hot Brown was really good. I will always try a hot brown if it’s offered. Most places will throw something in to make their hot brown unique to them.

If you want to be treated with no respect and have the workers talk about you, this is the place to go. Needles to say, I left after 10 minutes. You know that when you walk into a restaurant and the host is stuffing his face and won’t even get up to greet you, points to a menu and tells you when you get done to come back up and he will take your order and rolls his eyes it’s not a good place. I’m not even going to say what they said about me and my friends while we were looking at the menu, even another table said that they were rude to them and would not be back.

This is a one of a kinda place that allows you to play board games with your family. The food is not so great. The "famous" mac in cheese is reheated in a microwave. I noticed 3 -5 microwaves in their kitchen as I am taking my order.... which something to consider for their pricing scheme. They have an amazing staff... but the food is subpar for the pricing. But then again.... you can play board games as you wait. What other place can you do that? Ask yourself, do you want the experience, or the food?

A hidden gem in downtown Richmond. Great sandwiches including excellent gluten free bread and the staff are fun and all about making sure their guests have a good experience. The ice cream is amazing and all homemade. Smooth and creamy and at an extremely reasonable price considering the quality. Child friendly.

We order from here for work quite a bit and have generally always had great food. However, Friday we decided to order (we get the same thing every time) buffalo chicken nachos. Well this time we ordered and when they came, it was not buffalo chicken nachos. It was dark meat chicken, that looked almost like pulled pork, with ZERO buffalo sauce on it. They were absolutely disgusting too, I wouldn’t have fed that to my cat. Called back, they offered to refund as they should. However, they didn’t offer to fix it or make it right and send something else. We had to order lunch from somewhere else. I will more than likely never order from them again, I’m greatful they refunded. However, not offering to make it right or send something else was not cool. Also, management was a little hateful about it. If I could post the picture here believe me I would.

Terrible food. Bad service. No paper towels in the entire place - for food or in the bathrooms. In fact, there was very little toilet paper in the women's bathroom and no extra rolls. Do not go here if you want a pleasant dining experience...

Visited last week and was never acknowledged even though there were multiple staff (including the owner). I goofed and didn’t see the sign that said to order at the counter, but that doesn’t excuse staff from not even saying hello. This place has lost anything about it that was unique. It used to be fun, with lots of things to do and great people working there. Now it just copies whatever the businesses around it are doing. And since the owner is more interested in being right than recognizing poor service (he’s been called out for arguing with reviewers in the past) that’s really telling about how much he cares about customers.

It's been a while since I've been here. Amazing I mean absolutely amazing food and people.. I had their Big Bad Bacon Daddy burger and let me tell you, there is no comparison to the taste. Well seasoned, very juicy and just simply satisfying. This place is definitely one of those 10 star places.. Fries were also amazing. Would recommend for anyone to check out and have some fun.

This review is from the peespective of a 30-something family man. As such i cant comment on some of the more fun and unique things that might go on at Meeples later in the day. That said Meeples is sort of a neat idea. Food and games. It works. It gives my son something to do while we eat. The bubble tea is a huge hit with my wife and the Mad Scoops ice cream is a plus for me. The food is ... okay. Id say its whelming. There are some interesting twists to traditional things on the menu such as, among other things, a burger with an egg and jelly on it. I will say that of the times i have gone the one thing that is consistently lacking is the fries. I just dont feel like ive had a good order of fries. The rest of the food though? Unique and decent-to-good at a price that didnt make me feel cheated. Overall 4/5

Had a wonderful time at cafe meeple! They were very kind and accommodating! They changed out the fries in the elite loaded fries for nachos (highly recommend) and when trying to decide what ice cream to choose, the (sweet) waitress let me sample their seasonal pumpkin cheesecake ice cream. I was surprised and delighted it was gluten free because it’s so difficult to find pumpkin pie treats that don’t have “crusts.” It was soooo good, I had to buy a pint! Tastes just like pumpkin pie.

I was looking on Google for some place different that delivered in Richmond. Cause, pizza & Chinese food can get pretty mundane. So, I ran across this place. I went online & ordered. Needless, to say I was blown away!! The food was top notch in quality & taste!! Plus, the ease of ordering on line was very quick & detailed with limited hassle. Whatever you do give this place a try!!! It blows all the big chains out of the water!!!!

I've been eating here for years. Delivery and eating in. The atmosphere and vibe inside is really relaxed and at ease. The games are such a nice focal point for a cafe! The Popeye Mac is one of my favorite things on the menu there, as well! The prices are sometimes high on things, but I don't mind paying because I like the laid back environment there.

So i just got the cops called on me because i wanted a refund for my meal. The food i recieved was cold and Ron Flickinger the manager was extremely aggressive and rude. He told me the food couldn't have been undercooked because it all comes frozen. So they didn't even heat my frozen food properly. I didn't want my money back for the fries i ate just the two meals that were stone cold and the tip that i left. He threatened to remove me from his store for a 16$ refund. I felt like i was on an episode of kitchen nightmares but way lamer

I just left this place. First time trying it. Don’t waste your money. The woman working in the front was super nice and friendly. The guy (Didn’t get his name unfortunately) who took our order was SO beyond rude- no sense of customer service whatsoever. Also, I asked if they have a student discount. He said yes. I showed him my ID and he didn’t apply it. The menu sounds good, but the food is not prepared the way described on the menu. All of the food is frozen and microwaved. Very poor quality. We will never be back.

The owner called the cops on me after I waited forever to receive cold microwaved food. When I asked for a refund he said he will remake it or I can leave. When I told him I didnt want him to remicrowave my food I just wanted my money back he said "Okay well then I'm calling the cops." Then he decided to call the cops and I waited until they arrived only to get no refund or food. Owner was very hostile and I would never return there. Terrible customer service .

My boyfriend and I drove from Louisville to try this place the other night based off of the amazing food pictures we saw post under their google maps photos. When we got there around 90 mins before closing, we were told that they didnt serve those 3 different items shown on google maps. We should of walked out right then.. instead we decided to try other stuff. I ordered a simple plain bacon cheese burger with jerk chicken fries and my boyfriend ordered the jerk chicken sandwich. we paid 40$ for our food and drinks, which to me is wayyy over priced for a simple dirty cafe. We sat next to the window by the kitchen. The whole time they made our food they did not once use the grill. They microwaved EVERYTHING. Our food was so soggy and gross. The jerk chicken was so dry and tasted like bbq chicken no where near jerk flavor. My burger that I ordered was supposed to be plain but it had everything on it, just soaking in a ton of sauce. It was too messy to even pick up. I refused to eat my microwaved mess, but my boyfriend ate his "jerk chicken" sandwich and got sick. This place is awful and should be closed. Or at least not ran by children who don't care.

We are a family of 5 and all girls, so we have some picky eaters. One of the few times everyone liked there food. HUGE variety and the girls love the bubble drinks with Boba. Definitely will be back next time in town. Oh and the 2 oldest girls said they wanted to come to college here just for the drinks... Lol..

A place to hangout, drink and eat, play games and it still maintains a chill vibe? I wish these sorts of places would catch on everywhere. You walk right in, grab a menu and take a seat. When you are ready to order go up to the desk and order. While you wait, hang out and play some of their games or ones you brought. Special mention to the buffalo nachos, realllllllyyyyyy good stuff.

Good place to come with the kids and have a snack and boba drinks. Staff is always friendly and helpful. They have games to play (table top) like cards, board games, jenga and the like. The burgers are decent and the pizza is ok. Clean bathrooms and ample seating for groups and 2 tops for couples. Overall, it's a fun place but if you're looking for a nice dinner place for a date or quiet get away, it probably isn't the place you want to bring a date unless she/he doesn't mind talking over moderate din.

Had two hot Browns delivered. They came cold because they were delivered in a plastic bag. How can you keep hot food hot in a plastic bag in cold weather. You should use containers like pizza to keep it warm. Not a happy customer

This place is too good. It was mind blowing tbh. They have a surprisingly huge menu of options INCLUDING vegan and vegetarian things and everything we got was absolutely delicious! They have like a hundred options for bubble tea and everything was done in less than 30 minutes for 3 orders, it was crazy, fast and reasonably priced. Plus the staff was awesome and the nerd in me went nuts when I saw that, totally randomly, they not only sell magic cards but host game nights as well!! WHAT!? This place needs to chill on being so eclecticly neat lol but if your ever around and want awesome food and all that other stuff, go here

This is the second time being at this place, the first time i came for the bubble tea this time i came for the food. I loved this place, having games to play while you wait for your food or hang with friends while drinking some bubble tea is fun. I recommend this place for any get togethers.

If you had asked me last year about this time if I would recommend Meeples, I would absolutely say "no". They went through a bit of a crisis of changing their menu and they even started charging for use of their board games and I thought they would be closed within the year. I'm happy to say, though, that they have done much to rectify shortcomings in the past three months or so. Good board games are free to play again thankfully, the menu seems to have improved, and the service has improved in pace. They sell East Coast bubble tea, so don't expect tapioca, but it really is very good and refreshing. Their menu definitely has a healthy side to it, but they also have burgers and nachos and such. I think that Meeples is back on track.

Average board game Cafe. Menu was outdated (staff even said so). Game selection was a bit lackluster, but had the "essentials." My order of a black coffee took a long time to get, but the staff made a simple mistake and made up for it with a free brownie. Honestly, it just seemed like this place needs a better manager and someone to keep better track of what is working and what isn't working. Tons of potential and a great location. Still a decent place to kill an hour or two.

I ordered Grilled chicken as menu stated! I got shredded chicken. Ordered Son Chicken tenders I Guess they give him Some type of popcorn chicken.. He Couldn't Eat It! Sad to say but DO NOT order anything for delivery! Placed an online order for two burgers with fries, an hour later they arrived burgers were luke warm at best and fries were hard and cold like they had been sitting for a while. Since everything is wrapped in foil I could of excused warm and soggy if they just absorbed the moisture from being hot but these were teeth breaking hard. Overall the burger was ok would of been better hot and i might give them a try one day when i have time to go into the restraunt but we will NEVER order delivery again.

The menu sounds delicious and I so badly wanted to love their food. I've ordered from here a few times, trying a different menu item each time, and have been disappointed every time. It all has a weird taste. The bun is always soggy (sitting in a pool of juices) causing the sandwich to fall apart. I made my own "Ultimate fighter" at home with bbq sauce and it was really good. The menu items are great ideas, just not executed well. The burger I ordered was the only decent thing I've gotten from here but still not worth the price. I've finally decided to give up on this restaurant.

Cafe meeples always has a really nice atmosphere with board games, coffee, and food. Typically if I come to Cafe meeples, I come here for the coffee or the atmosphere. Mainly the bubble tea. Also, today when I visited, just as my hand was about to be on the door to go in, and employee flung the door open and almost hit me. As she walked out, she said loudly 'Welcome to Cafe meeples!'. A person going into the restaurant cannot really see inside all that well, especially on a sunny day. Though, from the inside out you can see quite well who's coming in. So she definitely saw me coming in, and still swung the door out. Unless she was paying absolutely no attention to the door - - where customers may be coming in, at a relatively busy time of the day.- -

Expected more from a local place but there food was mediocre at best. The layout is strange and the service seemed stretched thin. Their drink machine didn't have ice at the time. They also did something that bugs me when restaurants / places with services do and that's ask for a tip before you get any service or products. Yes, the ask for a tip as part of the ordering process. Our impression, shared among my family, was not good so we have no desire to go back. Only reason we would consider going back is to get Mad Scoops ice cream since this is now the only location that you can get it.

Just tried to place an order online, do not reccomend trying delivery that way. They have a system so if they dont approve the order in 3 minutes it just won't put the order in. After finally getting it (the restuarant even called me to confirm it) I was told it would be 45 minutes. I waited an hour and nothing. Called the store and they didnt even have the order. Sadly this isnt the first time something like this has happened. My mother and I went here one day to eat but had to wait 2 hours for food we waited a fair amount of time before asking the waitress where our food was and she informed us she forgot we ordered food and they had lost the ticket so she put the order in again but it took about another hour for our food to arrive, for 2 sandwiches not toasted. (they were not busy, empty except for us and a couple at the next table) have to say I'm not impressed. The food was good when we finally got it but not 2 hour wait worthy.

I expected more out of the food given the cost. Standard loafed bread with the cuban sandwich, and generic fries that come from the frozen grocery section. Also have received 3 Meeples marketing/advertisement emails in the 4 days following my visit, seems a bit too frequent.

We love meeples! The atmosphere, the food, the people... all great! The only thing I wish is for the fries to go back the the Krinkle cut (those were my favorite with the bacon ranch cheese fries). We will see you again soon Meeples!

Meeples, it is like a batcave with more little bats that gather and plot out their plans to save/destroy the world. Seriously, the people that work here are amazing, it feels like I'm at home when I'm there. However, you guys need to bring in Super Smash Bros on Friday when you have the switch to hold tournaments!!! ~Trinity

Really a fun place. Games on the table to play while you wait for your food! Wife had the Mac and cheese, I had the Cuban. Both were excellent, but I think my Cuban was better. One of the best sandwiches I've had in a while. Worth the few minutes trip away for I-75

Disappointed. Food was a little expensive for the portion and quality. Service was slow, none of the meals came out together. Employees apologized for being "short staffed, "today was really busy." The salads looked alright, but do not expect a good burger.

Food was really good, Worth the drive from Lexington to try this gem. Their bubble teas are spot on with natural flavors. The kitchen was a little slow but when their 30 kids that came in front you ordered first you should expect to receive your food a little late. I ordered the big bad double cheeseburger with fries. It was cooked to order. It was hot and fresh. I also ordered a matcha green tea(without bubbles).

Sandwiches to die for. The employees are always friendly and love getting to know their customers. Their hot beverages are always good and they have a great selection, but not so much that you get dizzy when you look through the menu. Great atmosphere for teens, quirky college students, and kids that like a game of cards while they wait for their food.

Sadly disappointing. If you're looking to kill time playing board games or you just want a quirky environment without a lot of substance, this place is fine. The Mad Scoops portion is fantastic, but that's pretty much it. Service is decent. Not especially welcoming but not rude. Sadly the food is subpar. We've eaten there around 6 or 7 times now. The first few meals warranted the price, but the past 3 or 4 haven't even been finished. Delivery is a bit slow, but that's understandable considering they have quite a bit of business. Even being a few blocks away, however, our meals are ALWAYS cold. The fries are stuck together as if they weren't cooked all the way through. The dressing on burgers and sandwiches is obscenely heavy. I had no less than 2 tablespoons of mayonnaise on my sandwich at one time. The bread was soaked though. I couldn't even eat half of it after scraping the mayo off. All in all, unless you want to play a game or eat ice cream, go elsewhere. I know we will.
