My wife and I dine at Lou Lou two or three times a week and I have to say the food and drinks are the best in town. Last night I had the special which was bucatini with chicken in a sauce that was absolutely amazing my wife had the salmon and wilted spinach cooked to perfection. If the owner reads this review PLEASE put the bucatini special on the regular menu. Keep up the great work

Bottom line-. Consistently good food and good service. Rising from the ashes of Cafe Lou Lou, Lou Lou Food and Drink continues the New Orleans style, and does it even a bit better than what it use to be. The red beans and rice is wonderful. Salads great, nice sandwichs (both the meetball and muffaletta are good), and even the pizza is tasty. Well worth the visit

I found my Hot Brown very tasty. My date did not care for her pizza. I ordered sweet tea, light ice and They brought unsweetened with a lot of ice. After my two tries a different waitress got it right. On the refill it was wrong again.

I am not from the Louisville area and ate at this place based on recommendations from Yelp. The food here was very good. While listed as kid-friendly I would have to slightly agree. There are no typical kid foods like chicken fingers or cheeseburgers. However the food portions are so large that there would be no problems with splitting the food with an adult. In fact I ordered a calzone that took 3 days to eat. The food prices were higher than I expected for the food but the portions and taste easily overcame my objections. I go through Louisville ever 6 months or so and plan on stopping here again. The food was excellent

Service was fantastic, no complaints with wait, or wait staff. Food however was lackluster, menu suffers from trying to be a few too many things at once. Nothing was inherently wrong with it, in fact the calzones and wraps looked very good. However the Cajun fare was a bit bland. Fuller flavors were expected.

A gem of Louisville and St. Matthews!! The food here is amazing! Never disappoints and it's obvious they take great care in the quality of the dishes they serve and care and thought into what dishes are served. The service is hit or miss, not rude or bad just either friendly or very vanilla. It's a unique fun atmosphere as well. The chicken roll up and pasta carbonara are both to die for as are the hummus trio and the bread pudding.

By word of mouth, I heard this was a place I needed to check out. I finally did and I wish I hadn't taken me so long! Great range of menu selections from calzones/pizza to shrimp and grits to crawfish etoufee. Plenty of options to drive too. Do yourself a favor and eat here.

Seldom have a bad meal here. Yesterday our group ordered lettuce wraps, Chicken portabello sandwich, and the Gyro, plus the hummus trio. All was great. I didn't care for the bread covering the portabello sandwich as it was overly brown to the point of being burned, however, the rest was terrific.

Wish I could give them an extra star just for the best bread on a muffaletta I've ever had! Perfect crunch on the outside, beautiful, chewy inside! On one hand; there could have been more meat. On the other though; I didn't hate myself for finishing it off, unlike with a traditional, over the top "served with a defibrillator"-muffaletta. I'll definitely be back!

Used to buy Cobb salads here 2-3 times a week. Noticed the quality was dropping. The final straw was when they gave me a salad with a rotten, blackened avocado on it. I swore off them for an entire year. Today I decided to give them another chance. Before leaving with my salad I opened it up to check on it. Sitting atop my salad was a clearly and visibly rotten avocado. I will never go back.

I always enjoy Cafe Lou Lou, I have been a fan since they were in the original Frankfort Ave spot. We had a large party of 15 there this past weekend and all of my guests (most of whom had never been there before) were pleased. it also seems to be the only place around that everyone in my office can agree on for our holiday lunches- it's our go-to spot and there's something for everyone. Great service, great food, great experience.

Went to the all you can eat crawfish boil. It was literally the worst experience I have had in years. There was no restrictions on how much food you can have so people will grab three plates at one time. This left people waiting for an hour not getting any food. My wife ordered a calzone and the waitress kept forgetting to check for it and by the time she brought the food it was luke warm. So I spent $40 dollars for a plate of 10 crawfish, and warm calzone. Worst service ever.

The service was nice, they did mess up our order once but we did receive compensation. Though I had the gyro and it was just not good. I know it's a house favorite but it was devoid of flavor and I do not understand why there was hummus in it either. The salad was dressed as if it were a salad and the dressing was there to make up for the lack of any flavor. I even found an OLIVE. An OLIVE, WHO PUTS OLIVES IN A GYRO?????? Gyros are a simple food and it was so overly complicated that I just could not enjoy it, let alone stomach to finish it.

Lou Lou Food & Drink looks like a cute little restaurant on the outside but don't let it's unpretentious exterior fool you. This restaurant means business and serves up big flavor and dishes reflecting New Orleans influence and Italian flair. One sandwich I recently tried and strongly recommend is the Chicken Portabella Roll that contains spinach, feta cheese, tomatoes, and all of this flavorful goodness drenched in a roasted red pepper sauce and stuffed inside a flatbread exterior cooked to crispy perfection! It came with a choice of sides, and I tried the Cajun waffle crisps... just divine... and with the right amount of seasoning to turn the heat up a notch on a regularly enjoyed classic. Give this place a try if you haven't already. I just love it!

Unfortunately when we went, our waitress kept asking if we were ready to order even though we told her several times we were waiting for someone else to arrive. The restaurant was not busy and many tables were still available, so we weren't sure what the rush was. Eventually, we felt so pressured that we went ahead and ordered. Our food arrived before the fourth member of our party arrived. Still, the food is good and I'd recommend this place for lunch or dinner... Just be sure your whole party is there.
