Highland Coffee makes great coffee and treats! Unpretentious atmosphere. Sometimes, depending on the hour, many people will hunker down with their laptop and work and insist on library-like atmosphere...if you're a talker, then there's a more airy and affable patio that may suit your needs a little bit better!

We stopped by for a Saturday afternoon pick-me- up and left happy. The girl behind the counter was very helpful and friendly. There was a women at a table near us being obnoxious and rude and the staff handed her very professionally, even though she sucked.

I want to give this place five stars and it deserves it but two odd management choices prevent that. The place is comfortable, the staff is friendly, their menu and offerings are tremendous quality. Sounds perfect right? The problems: the menu doesn't actually have any prices - my wife ordered a smoothie for her and my son and the two were a dollar difference when 'quoted' to her but the staff member couldn't explain why - a menu with prices helps this. Also they have a nice outdoor patio which we wanted to enjoy but it was filled with smokers. When questioned if they were supposed to be smoking out there, the staff member said it was allowed except for the two tables outside the door. This is in violation of Metro Louisville's Smoke Free Ordinance, which allows smoking outdoors but no less than fifteen feet from any doors and windows. I didn't have my tape measure handy but basically, with their setup you get a mouthful of second hand smoke just walking in the door. In short, I won't be going back while these two policies are in place. I don't dislike smokers by the way, several friends are, but we respect each other's boundaries. I also like surprises just not when it comes to menu prices.

Loved it. A local place with a great atmosphere. It's on Bardstown road and actually has parking! I went there to meet a friend during the weekday and it wasn't crowded - it would be a great place for a small group to meet up. The service is excellent and so was the coffee. Totally on my 'regular place to hit' list.

Everyone loves a good local coffee shop and Highland Coffee Company is just that. The clean, modern interior is inviting. The staff are super friendly and very knowledgeable about all the different options for a good coffee drink experience. I also really love the plant based options. Oat milk lattes are my new favorite thing. I've seen paper straws around town before, but this my first time seeing a "pasta" straw; literally a drinking tube made out of pasta. I used it, I loved it, I wish I could find them in the store because that was really cool and completely bio-degradable. We enjoyed the small, but really nice outdoor covered patio. Loved it and can't wait to come back!

Great coffee and really nice people working there in a beautiful area of Louisville! I tried pretty much all the acclaimed coffee shops in Louisville and this one was the best. Highly recommended!Also, I went early on a Saturday morning (6:30) and they get points for being awake. I hate going into coffee shops and having the people who work the early shift act asleep. I think they should be required to drink their coffee an hour before opening so they can give good service as soon as they open. The people who work at Highland obviously do this and it shows. Very friendly at all hours!

Been coming here for years. They have the best coffee being served by the best baristas. Inside has a very nice quiet additude where outside is more outgoing and loud it seems. The only place I am able to find where you can be sitting on the patio surrounded by bartenders, mechanics, professional stage hands, professors, master computer programmers/engineers, students, surgeons, homeless, alcoholics, ballet dancers, and much much more.

One of the best coffee places to be, highland has a great array of coffee from blended frou frou drinks to downright good classic coffee. They also have an arcade, display local art, and have a board for events going on in Louisville. I personally think it's a must see for Louisville.

Always a fav, but I bet you didn’t know they have a large selection of Vegan breakfast and dessert items here !! Their hot jelly pepper is phenomenal and you can even buy it to take home with you by the jar after you try it with their breakfast wraps, served ALL DAY! Best coffee in town, too. I’ve worked at Starbucks and Heine Brothers but Highland beats all with their smooth blends and self service area. You’ll never taste anything but fresh coffee here because you pick your roast and can test them all out to see which is the freshest! Thanks to the awesome staff who legit walked me through their new menu and advised me what they would order, I ended up with the vegan egg and sausage wrap with the jelly and I couldn’t be happier! Very friendly and warm atmosphere if you’re doing some work and need a fun place to chill.

Tip: you need to go into the parking lot to find this place. They have good coffee and tea. The food is very nice, nutritious and delicious. Almost everything was vegan. It's sort of loud. Their seating is comfortable. There are places to study or do work with adequate lighting. There's a nice covered outside seating area with a canvas wall blocking the wind.

I was spoiled discovering coffee in Seattle WA and trying all of the coffee spots there for 5 years and didn't expect to find a coffee joint in Louisville KY that I'd dig this much. I absolutely love this place! It's my morning stop on the regular. Everything is delicious (though I'm especially partial to their everything bagels and wide selection of house coffees), the staff are all amazing, and they are all about eco friendly materials. Not to mention the atmosphere. Very relaxed and friendly, and there is always great conversation to be had here. Definitely worth the money and time to check out.

I only drink decaf coffee in the afternoon. Basically everywhere I go the decaf offerings are pretty lousy. Today at Highlands coffee I had a tremendous brew of decaf coffee. It is great that they take pride in their decaf offerings. This place is fantastic!

This is a go-to when I'm in Louisville/on Bardstown. I'm very lucky my boyfriend lives about a block away and we always love walking there. Cool chill interior, and it's pretty much always busy. It fluctuates but never feels crowded or dead. Really good coffee and tea, and their quick food items are very good. They also have some vegan treats and you can get their coffee to the right of the counter. We just got some flavored coffee grounds and the aroma and taste are super satisfying.

If they allowed 1/2 stars, it would be 3 1/2. The coffee is a little weak and much sweeter than we prefer. If you like european artisan coffee, this isn't it. The sweets we purchased on the other hand, excellent. They have great desserts, just ok coffee.

The place is always busy. The seating gets snapped up quickly. If you're alone you can usually find something. If you have a group, good luck. The coffee has been burnt the last few times I was there, and not much flavor. The crowd drawn is a split between college students and older locals, and many are very rude. On multiple occasions I've had to ask someone to not talk so loud because they will get on the phone at full volume less than two feet from my head while I'm working. I used to enjoy this place but it's declined.
