I used to love coming for their iced coffee. Sitting outside or inside on a pleasant day. I never tried much else other than that. The coffee was strong and slightly bitter. So good.It's small though. Most people get to go. It's not quite feasible to study here, but it's nice grabbing coffee and walking around the little park nearby.The pay it forward is awesome! A selling point to this coffee shop.The owners are also really nice. They came and spoke at one of the meetings in the business college at UK.

On the morning of Sunday the 16th of July 2017, my sister's Ira,Tammy,Bridgette and my brother in law J.P. visited A Cup Of Commonwealth coffee shop. The service was excellent. They served us with a smile and it didn't take long at all for our orders to be filled. The coffee was lousy. It was weak and tasted watered. I ordered the same as I always order," the stongest coffee you have with 2 shots of Expresso W/whip cream" Yuck!!! Mind you I only drink coffee when Tammy and J.P. visit from Louisville which is about 6 or 7 times a year and we always go to 3rd Street stuff on limestone,so I am not even close to being a expert at coffee but the rest of the crew said the same and they had different types of coffee. We won't go back there anymore and I felt embarrassed that I took my guest to that shop.

Take it from a coffee snob, this is the best coffee in town. Baristas know how to pull a good shot. They have single origin espresso that's always changing. They offer sparkling water with espresso shots. The baristas are super friendly. This place is legit. Best in Lexington for sure!

The staff here are wonderful and I especially love the wall that gives you a chance to purchase a cup of coffee for someone, or to receive a free cup of coffee from someone. I do wish there was better parking and more room for seating, but I understand that downtown amenities can be severely limited in a red state; Especially for an establishment with such a pleasantly bohemian atmosphere.

This place is great. There are SO many cup sleeves of people paying it forward to others. I used one "any coffee for anyone" with a Hebrews verse... And left one for 'anyone having a rough day'. The workers were so friendly and welcoming. Wish there were more seating and more comfortable seating, and maybe a little more food or pastry options. Just passing through on travel though and it was a great choice to stop it- very creative and unique.

Stopping by to try this new coffee shop in town, I felt like I was cheating on my first love- TEA. In the last couple of years, I have started to acquire a taste for good coffee so when I saw this place pop up on yelp, I made sure to give it a try. Walking in, I noticed the bare minimum decoration that others have noted. The place can definitely use a bit more decorative touch but their friendly staff members definitely make up for what was missing. I enjoyed being welcomed right away by both people behind the counter. They very friendly and genuine. They talked to me about their "pay it forward" board which I think is a great idea. Next time I come, I might put a friend's name on the board to get them try this place. For this visit, I ordered a small cappuccino and a small cinnamon apple breakfast muffin, though it was already well into the afternoon. The muffin was the right size snack to go with the perfectly prepared coffee. I didn't have any complaints. I hope they start having a few more options of small baked goods, because everyone would enjoy something sweet with a great cup of coffee!

Cute, casual place! They have a mug with quarters inside to pay for the (cheap) street parking. Bring your own coffee tumbler and they will fill it for the same price as a small. Aesthetic is cute, miss-matched furniture.

Absolutely loved this small coffee house. The atmosphere is reminiscent of the shops only found in Seattle, and that's a good thing. Indie music played was playing when I walked in, and many people were sitting and chatting while others read books and worked on laptops. Loved it. The magic beans coffee is also top notch. Definitely a unique and vintage-y coffee spot. I ordered a light roast coffee and soy chai latte. The drinks were pretty good and I would definitely come back to try something else. Space is limited in the shop and the seating wasnt very comfortable. They are dog friendly which I think is cool.

I am currently sitting in your shop and I just want to shout out one of your workers. I came in and already felt welcomed by the barista, but it was what he did next that pulled at my heart strings. A man inside the shop who was special needs was trying to convey a better way to mop the floors. He was a janitor at his job. He got upset when he didn't think the other worker was absorbing his information. He became frustrated and angry and said he'd never come back again and that nobody wanted to listen to him. The barista calmly asked him to not leave and to take a seat to talk to him and explain what he was trying to teach the other worker. He sat there for a good 10 minutes and openly listened and praised the man for how smart he was and how their cleaning duties will now improve because of the man. He easily could have disregarded this man and let him leave in a huff, but he took the time to be a genuine human and make this man feel special before he left. Whoever this barista is, he deserves a trophy for his kindness. I will definitely be coming back here to enjoy your coffee. Oh yeah. This place has a solid cup of joe. ❤ Cheers.

Three of us got coffee, and all three were mediocre to terrible. Dark brew really didn't taste like anything, as if it was brewed wrong, and my vanilla latte didn't have any flavor either. Tasted like straight iced half and half. Fun atmosphere though and plenty of space to sit and hang out or work.

I have dropped by the shop multiple times while travelling interstate 64. Every time the coffee has been good. I always get a pour over, and it is consistently well extracted and balanced. It is not a mind blowing coffee experience, but a solid offering in an otherwise specialty coffee bereft state.

A sort of hole-in-the-wall coffee shop and market with a big heart for community. The coffee is good, but the employees really make this place special. I recommend the brewshine (iced coffee brewed with bourbon-barrel chips, non-alcoholic, very delicious). Also ask about the quiche or mini pies from Pig & Pepper.
