REVIEWS OF Thou Mayest Coffee Roasters IN Kansas

zech rowe-hayden

It's all delicious - one of the most authentic coffee joints in town

Mattia Rebato

Amazing coffee shop. The environment was really nice, a cozy place to work and spend the afternoon while consuming a coffee.

Luke M

A cool place to check out. I heard their coffee based cocktails were excellent, sadly they haven't been allowed to serve alcohol the last couple weeks and we weren't able to get one. They offered us boxed cereal instead... If you like decent blends the coffee was pretty good, though there are better roasters in KC. Go for the atmosphere, and hangout.

Jonathan Modisett

There are new employees. Before the employees were so rude. Seemed like that was the schtick to this place though. Now they are very nice and super helpful. Big plus. Coffee is good with great selection. Environment is cozy. And awesome indoor and out door seating.

Rebecca Music

Fun place to go when they have pop-up shops! Great coffee too. It's pretty busy so not always the best if you're looking for a quiet place on the weekends.

Mike Knapp

Excellent atmosphere and very well decorated. Cozy and comfy with all the personal touches. As a traveler this coffee shop is wonderful. Cold brew was also amazing.

Evalys Azuara

Very awesome environment in KC art district. Kind of boho/hipster style! Super friendly staff makes you feel appreciated as a customer. The coffee is a little expensive (because it’s imported from different countries), but very very good!

Neil Ritter

My favorite in KC. All kinds of nooks to relax in, outside deck. Coffee offers many choices and is great as you'd expect. Medium sized shop. Coffee good all over, it's the atmosphere, right?

Matt Abbott

This is when I fell in love with the East Crossroads. This place is one of the hippest, coolest coffee shops I have ever been to anywhere. You gotta go upstairs, it's a great place to work from. And you gotta check out the Patio that overlooks the KC Crossroads Outdoor Concerts. Excellent Coffee, Extraordinary Location and Friendly staff. Enjoy

Jake Anderson

Super chill and all the cereal you could every want.

Doug Wilhelm

The coffee here is exceptional. Would recommend 10/10.

Eric Emanuel

Super quirky bar and coffeehouse. Love the hipster vibe that this place has.

Bob Newsted

High quality coffee and tea. They also serve alcohol. The upstairs rooms are very sound absorbent. Nice patio upstairs and down. Open late. Friendly staff.

Alice Benson

This was a awesome quaint place to get coffee. The service was excellent and the drinks superior. Would recommend for your next coffee experience

Samantha Silveira

Fun, cool, and tasty! For me it stirs up feelings of nostalgia. It is the only place where I can go to get a great coffee drink and a bowl of cereal that I loved as a kid.

Steve Agocs

Thou Mayest is a very cool hangout in the Crossroads Arts District. They roast their own coffee and also serve cocktails when the time is right. I've only been there for coffee but the decor is awesome any time of day. Coffee is pretty good. I think there are better roasters in KC but it's certainly not bad coffee by any stretch of the imagination!

Robert Hazelwood

Hip place in the Grinders east crossroad area that I recently visited and had 2 caffeinated beverages. My first was a latte that was strong and had a fine crema. I tried to drink it without sweetener however it was too strong for me so I had a couple of shakes of raw sugar. I could only find natural sweeteners, honey and raw sugar. I wondered where the stevia was. My second drink was an iced latte with caramel syrup with a modest amount of ice. This was delicious with just the right amount of coffee, caramel flavour and sweetness. I sat at the counter, close to their espresso machine which allowed me to engage in banter with the baristas and some customers as the pick up point was to my left. Business was brisk with a wide variety of drinks being served. I enjoyed my 30-40 minutes here and certainly would go back to try some of their other drinks.

rick Godfrey

Nice place. Laid back.

Tim Palmer

Very trendy place in the Bohemian sense. The coffee was out of this world good. I liked the vibe here and the staff was very friendly and patient. If you're looking for a unique coffee experience this is a must visit place.

Kathryn Hagerty

Average latte. Cool setting with nice outdoor seating. Long menu - we didn't get any food, but it looked good.

Naomi Rider

Really love it here. Unique flavors and chill vibe. Does get busy in the afternoon but still very pleasant. Kind staff. I can see myself coming here often. Try it out!

spiekerboxx 23

this place is awesome! great bar too, they have chartreuse which is my fave!

G.P. B.

Awesome backyard patio. Good music. A friendly, young, progressive looking staff that doesn't recycle - guys!?

Jami Schroeder

Great coffee and plenty of options. I wouldn't buy from the cereal bar but they have plenty of pastry options to try

Lori Betts

Tasty pastry and a cool location with eclectic decor. Will be back to try the coffee.

Nathan Hoffmann

Apparently they lost their liquor license! Only coffee now. Still a great place. (pictured: hopped espresso tonic — super good)

Raychael Bell

Cost too much for a cup.

Will Williams

One of the chilliest and hippest places in town. Be aware, they do serve alcohol so you have to be above 21 to even hang out there during the day, but if you are, it's a great place to burn a lazy Saturday morning or late afternoon hanging out.

Jimmy Mitchell

I yanked it in the restroom, coffee was that darn good.

Grind Core

Wonderful spot. Nice folks, great coffee. Thanks guys. See you next time.

Adri Luna

Love the coffee and the vibe. I usually meet a friend here after work and we can find a place to sit and talk for an hour, which is nice. They have a great back patio, tasty cocktails and good music. Street parking can be tough because of the restaurants and bars around it but still not too bad. They also have a good selection of pastries. Worth checking out for the laid back vibe, cool merchandise and nice baristas.

Betty Chung

Super huge space. Beautiful. The adult Capri sun ☀️is dope AF. It's delicious. Can't waste the alcohol

Tom Kuhns

Good place for coffee and to meet up

Jeannie N

I liked it. Not the best coffeehouse, but the patio and balcony is rocking. They close too early, I think.

Damion Whitehead

Maybe I was the perfect combination of tired and thirsty, but the iced mocha I had was the best mocha I've ever had in my life.

David Baker

Great coffee. Nice staff. Comfortable place that offers an alternative to the sterility of Starbucks and the snobbishness of a lot of other coffee shops. Real coffee for real people.

Baylee Duzenberry

Thou Mayest has moved locations this spot is now Chances Social but they havent changed their google page yet

Jamison Whitehill

Favorite coffee shop in KC. Great atmosphere and the Ethiopian natural was amazing. Sadly i think they are moving.

Dragana Stevanovic

The is one of the cutest coffee shops in Kansas City. The coffee and the vibes are on point.✌️❤️

Cassandra Duncan

I've always thought it a strange idea to order cereal in a restaurant (or coffee shop), but was almost tempted here. At the very least, I found the display of boxes to be an interesting aesthetic draw, inasmuch as food packaging constitutes pop art, and in a way I've never paid much attention to when strolling the grocery aisle. Cereal bar aside, this is a great coffee shop. Delicious brew, plenty of seating, good wifi, comfortable vibe, friendly service, etc. I only had time for one coffee shop visit on this quick pass through KC, and I'm glad this was the one I choose (with help from google, of course).

Donna Locke

Awesome food and customer service!

Kendra Roggio

Went here with friends. Enjoyed the iced coffee I got and I know my friends enjoyed their drinks. We also bought a bag of coffee to bring home and are enjoying it. Probs kg will be ordering other flavors.

Max Hammock

Great coffee roasted in house. Creative cocktails with their "slow" brew (cold brew) are perfect for a late night pick me up while hanging out in the crossroads. I usually go here on First Fridays after checking out the art on the streets. They'll have a live DJ and a small yet fun dance floor. Worth checking out just for the cool deck on the second floor. Couches, coffee, and wifi make for a great spot to work for a couple of hours during the week too.

Ruston Dickens

I’m was in KC for work. I was looking for a good coffee shop to spend an hour or so in. I saw the reviews and tried Thou Mayest. It was excellent. Good coffee, great atmosphere. Plenty of seating. The service was excellent. Really friendly crew behind the counter. I’ll definitely be coming back next time I’m in town. Everything you could want in a good coffee shop can be found at Thou Mayest!

Lando Cartel

Excellent!

Anna Langeluttig-Jewell

Very unique coffee shop with lots of space and cozy seating. Kind of has a New York aesthetic to it. You can order anything from coffee to cereal. I went there with a pretty big group to study for finals and they had more than enough seating, I’d recommend going upstairs to study however, because the music is blaring downstairs.

Patric Garrison

My favorite coffee shop ever! Relaxed feel inside, I've lost hours on their couches and outside. If they don't have a pastry that looks wonderful I go back to the snow days of my youth and get those Coco Puffs

Wajeeh Lion

The coffee shop is so homey and layed back, relaxing music. Quality drinks, and pastries. They certainly stand out with their unique menu, and their great service. I would certainly have a date, or a meeting here, or I could just come here to relax.

Nick Heiser

Great place for coffee or a beer.. or both! Try the different roasts they created then head home with a bag of beans for the one you love!

Nick Crosetti

One of my favorite coffee roasters and shops in KC. Great atmosphere, awesome patio, friendly staff every time & they serve cereal!

Erinn Lewis

There have been a lot of the coffee/cocktail combos popping up lately in KC. Thou Mayest was one of, if not the first I went to and it still remains my favorite. It somehow manages to feel warm and cozy in the winter, and fresh and outdoorsy in the summer. It has a great vibe without coming off as *too* cool or pretentious. It somehow seemlessly transitions from coffee shop during the day to a bar in the evening, it WORKS. They've got the balance between the two down perfect! And of course, the coffee, snacks and drink are always on point!

Sarah Foltz

Super cool place to get great coffee and hang out or have an informal meeting. Upstairs is my fav.

Kendon McBee

There are few places in the city that combine the exceptional product, truly unbeatable environment, and genuine customer service as Thou Mayest. The staff is fantastic. Its one of the only craft coffee shops that features a full service bar and high quality cocktails. The environment that Bo has cultivated in that shop transcends place and time. You will surely leave feeling more alive and inspired.

0101 0100

Quick, fast, but not impersonal. I enjoy the most basic coffee but was soooooo impressed with this space. Also the coffee. ohhh the coffee. (Also you can smoke on the back patio.)

Shane Davis

Nice little spot, playing the good beats early on a Saturday to start the day off! Lattes were on point along with the cranberry orange scone! Staff friendly and knowledgeable about all different creations they have behind the bar! Check it out you won’t be disappointed!

John Mennella

We liked the place as soon as we walked in. Cool staff, awesome decor, great coffee. Outside seating was extremely convineant due traveling with our cross country. The staff welcomed our dog without hesitation. Great experience.

Sam Reynolds

Cool coffee shop / bar hybrid. Coffee is roasted in the shop and is good and reasonably. They have around six beer taps, but the prices are usually pretty high. Cocktails are interesting and original but, again, pricey. The vibe of the shop is very cool, lots of wood and plants. Downstairs feels and looks more like a bar, while the upstairs room is more like a coffeehouse and is good for studying. Both upstairs and downstairs have patios as well.

Camber McDonald

CBD matcha, its so flavorful and calming

Catherine Kolkoski

I am thrilled to have found this very unique and chic place to have coffee and a little something in it! Loved the Coffee White Russian. It is a great place to take a date or a friend. The wait staff is well versed in what they serve. The seating comfortable. Lots of people with laptops or just meeting with friends. I will be back again and again.

Chelsea Lewis

One of my Favorite coffee shops in KC. Also a bar but i'm usually getting coffee to get me through the long shifts I work. Wouldn't say this place is good for if you are in a hurry, the baristas tend to take their time even when the place is busy. The coffee is worth it though and if you want to listen in on your favorite musicians the crossroads stage is just next door.

Caleb Carr

One of my favorite places in Crossroads, and my favorite coffee shop period. Fantastic staff, amazing place.

Michaela Hines

My boyfriends best friend is from oregon so we decided to go down near the plaza and just walk and see what he liked down there and we happened upon this gem of a coffee shop. My boyfriend and his best friend are both coffee snobs for lack of a better word and they both LOVED the drinks they got. The building is cozy and there is a great seating area upstairs as well as a balcony to sit at . Drinks were good and loved the vibe plus its really close to a really good bar and taco shop if you wanna go out on the town after fueling up with some coffee. The staff was friendly and the service was fast. Will definitely be back in the future

Ryan Steiner

The coffee is good but the vibe is a bit twee for my preference.

Zechariah Hargis

So sad this place closed down. But definitely worth checking out Thou Mayest's other two locations in town.

Wess Howell

Nice roasts, cool mercy and delicious booze. Sink into one of the cozy couches upstairs or sit on the pation. Lots of ways to enjoy this shop.

Daniel Pons

Great space! Inviting & homey. Mark was incredibly welcoming & fun.

Kevin Tipton

Cozy Atmosphere. Friendly Staff. Hipster Crowd. High end Coffee. Decent Prices. They used to serve Alcohol, which was nice. Last I checked they lost their liquor license.

Mari Nguyen

Went on a VERY cold night. In addition to coffee and beers, their hot mixed drinks are really good. Irish coffee is a classic, and this hot pear cider I had was delicious!

Keely Hill

Best coffee in KC. I like the lavender latte and the aesthetic of this revitalized building.

Logan Welch

One of the best coffee bars in KC. My most recent visit I ordered a torn label and it was the last pour on the tap so it was not completely full. I did not say anything and went upstairs and sat on the patio. About 10 minutes later I was brought a full new drink after the keg was replaced! Thank you for the great service Thou Mayest

Emily Curry

Great coffee from friendly, helpful staff in a uniquely cozy atmosphere. I love that there are food offerings from multiple KC bakeries, too.

Craig Ritchie

I am a plain dark roast coffee drinker and I found the coffee here to be great. Strong but not bitter.

Katelynn Ralston

Great experience! If you're looking for an unpretentious, but still hipster-camping vibe, Thou Mayest is your spot. I'm so jealous that KC has a cereal bar. I got a bowl of Golden Grahams - the perfect ratio of milk to cereal - a matcha latte with CBD oil (delicious and relaxing!), and a blueberry poptart (but your standard out of a cardboard box and wrapper PT, but a fresh baked one, life-changing). Everything was great. I look forward to visiting again the next time I'm in town.

anthony thomas

Pastries are 4 bucks but they're homemade which is awesome. Coffee is pretty good and fresh.... laid back environment which is a twist for me, and I really can relax and do work on my laptop/phone.....

Candis Gaerte

Guys! Amazing espresso and unbelievable service. Visiting from Colorado and we wish this was our neighborhood shop. Thank you.

T.C. Woodbury

Thou Mayest is such a cool coffee shop and experience, they don't hold back when it comes to flavor. And the two level setup makes it a unique environment for both business and leisure.

Alex Masson

Really cool coffee shop, the atmosphere and staff were amazing!

Tiffany

I love Thou Mayest! They no longer serve alcohol :( but that's okay because the coffee is great. Really quality drinks made by skilled baristas. I really like the decor; I kinda wish my house looked as cool as the inside of the shop does. Really nice upstairs eating area. And it's a great location in the crossroads so perfect of you need to grab a coffee during First Fridays. I look forward to going again!

Gwendolyn Sullivan

Stopped by on my way out from Kansas City and it was worth the trip. We tried two of the three drip coffees available and they did not disappoint. The one my colleague ordered (Ethiopian) was better than mine (Brazilian) as it had more interesting flavor. Mine was a good, solid coffee was nothing too unique. There were two baristas working when we arrived and they were both very cool. Very friendly and made us feel right at home. I would recommend a visit not only for the coffee, but also for the stellar service. It apparently turns into a bar at night so that could be an interesting visit as well.

This place is now called Thee Outpost. And I was confused when I was looking for it’s old name, Thou Mayest. The cafe is decorated friendly for people to study and use their computers to work. They also have a comfy sofa area. One barista was friendly to greet me while she was still talking to another customer, but the other barista who took my order seemed to have a bad day. Anyways, she still completed my order. Talking about the coffee, I was a bit disappointed since this cafe has same scores as The Roasterie and slightly higher scores than the Quay cafe On Google. It’s still a good choice if you live nearby or just passing by. But it’s not really worth a visit if you just to want to try this place out.

Micah

They are closed!! For months! Why is this still up? I’ve already requested an edit to mark as permanently closed! The location is reopened now but it’s called Chances Social. Great coffee shop!!

Matthew Cowan

I own a coffee shop in Warrensburg Missouri so I had to check out new location that Bo opened. They did a fantastic job! Looks great and the coffee was fantastic.

Ilya Tabakh

An anchor of an ascendant neighborhood. Closest thing that exists to a mountain lodge in downtown Kansas City. Although they are taking a short hiatus, I know they will be back and better than ever in 2019. An amazing cup of coffee that is often accompanied by a bright smile for your soul.

Thiago Vianna

Great cozy place, great food with good price! Cool employees.

Andrew Scott

Good natural light, cozy atmosphere, great coffee and a cereal bar that'll put your inner 10 year old's jaw on the floor. What's not to love?

Tamara Scharfenkamp

Mmmmmm. So good. The Wild Child is my goto!

John Taylor

First time to Thou Mayest, and I was super impressed. Really cool vibe, with lots of comfortable seating. I had TM’s new unwashed Ethiopian pour-over. One of the most flavorful coffees I’ve ever had. Must visit spot!

Ryan Reed

As a coffee nerd and lover of working in cafes, Thou Mayest is easily among my top three coffee-spots in Kansas City. Their espressos and pour-overs are pro-caliber: delicious, meticulously crafted and interesting. They serve you with genuine kindness and enthusiasm. It can sometimes get a bit crowded, but usually you can find a spot to have a coffee, read a book, do some work, or engage in a conversation with a friend.

Rod Dirks

Not impressed. Bar? Or coffee shop? Can't tell. It's ok to offer alcoholic craft beers at a coffee shop, but please focus on one thing. Not both.

Steve Sewell

I come here every time I’m I’m KC. The best!

Tim B

I love this place. Who knew walking into a coffee shop would be like walking into a mind palace full of ideas, new life (fresh plants everywhere), and amazing coffee and drinks. These guys are really onto something here with the vibe. If you're doing anything awesome and plan to take over the world, you gotta stop by Thou Mayest to refuel and dream larger than yourself. What a refreshing place. Love it!

Kiley Varney

This is place is exactly what I want in a coffee shop. Chill, quiet environment, seating inside and outside, an upstairs area, and obviously great coffee. I usually don't stray too far away from a classic latte, but I had to try their lavender latte with local bee pollen. AMAZING!

Landon R

I love this place. Super chill environment, and easy to get comfortable in. Even in places other than KC I get recommended to come here (I was just in Springfield and someone said I needed to try it if I hadn't). Highly recommended!

Maryam Shahid

Thou Mayest is a very cozy and cute coffee shop! A friend and I came here for the first time and loved it! They have a rustic theme decor and the staff are so friendly and kind. Their baked goods change either daily or weekly I think. We tried the chai cupcakes, they were so good! I had a smore latte and my friend had the hazelnut latte! Both were absolutely delicious! Would definitely come here again. I think they're relocating the store so we'll be back when the new place opens up!

Garrek Reed

Great place to chill and get some work done. I'm not a big fan of music always playing, especially songs I've heard over and over.

Jonathan Pope

I didn't care for their coffee but the upstairs deck is a get space!

Steven Griffin

The perfect combination of great coffee, good treats, fantastic ambience, and friendly staff. There isn't a bad seat in the house upstairs or down. I also love their coffee scented candles for sale.

Aaron Lucas

Very very good coffee! Had cold brew that was delicious and a pour over blend called wild child.

Paul Arnhold

Great coffee, good vibes and a good place to work/hang out

Aly Stamper

Really cool cafe. The vibe is really chill and hipster-esk. It's really relaxing and friendly. I LOVE their pop tarts. They go quickly and they recently told me they only get them Saturdays and Tuesdays though.

Matt Peppes

Great vibe and great coffee! Ordered a latte and it might be the best I’ve had in KC.

Ed Price

Really great coffee, excellent selection of Danish and biscuits, good service and good atmosphere. Highly recommended when in downtown KC.

Jeremiah Coomes

Best iced chai I have had in forever.

Christopher Bowman

Love it! Super friendly people and the atmosphere is unique to the area (I think). Cozy, classy, hip.... Perfect for the location. Great coffee, and a full bar to boot! My new favorite spot!

Diane Allen

I sure do miss this place.

Daniel Sucher

Great coffee and overall experience. Also hosts local artists.

Cameron Lindberg

Was the best coffee I could find anywhere, especially the cortado, that is until they raised the age to 21+. But I'm excited to be able to go in once again. Also has good seating, decor, and an excellent balcony view over the crossroads concert venue. They also sell cool merchandise

Bryan Terry

Great place for coffee and a little bite to eat. It's a very relaxed and interesting atmosphere, and it didn't cost too much either. I really enjoyed it!

Kyle Harper

It's a hip coffee joint that stays open late and serves alcoholic beverages. I can only speak for the bar vibe but I may return during the day at some point. I found it funny that, despite the (annoying) music blaring and a majority of people patying, there were still a few people reading books or working on their laptops. The staff was completely disorganized. Despite 5 or 6 people running around behind the counter and only about 20-25 patrons, it took nearly 10 minutes each time my friend ordered a cocktail. The balcony is one saving grace, if you can find a seat on it.

Oscar Heat

good place to go have a talk or meet someone for coffee or hot chocolate

Scott Koester

First time here. Very unique interior design. Service was prompt and courteous. I got a Cappuccino. It was not only beautiful but the best I have had in some time. My wife got an Iced tea that was also good. Highly recommend. Parking can be interesting

Henry Kirkman

The atmosphere won me over with its campy vibes and attention to detail. Look around and you will find some pretty interesting odds and ends on the shelves. My favorite place is the downstairs patio, but the upstairs one is nice as well and both floors inside feature different options for seating.

Valorie Pirch Montgomery

Great coffee and the decor is chic yet super cozy.

April Holtan

Nice shop; tiny pies and other baked goods looked delicious, full bar was impressive. Beer list reads like a who's who of hipster beers. Staff wasn't overly friendly or courteous, but it was a Saturday afternoon so they'd probably had a busy day already. Extensive tea selection, but we were there for coffee. 4 pour over options, we choose the Smooth Operator and the Wild Child. Both over-roasted for our taste; way too smoky for something billed as full of "sweetness and complex euphoria". However, Wild Child did still retained some nuances of flavor. Nice atmosphere, great branding, good selection, just didn't love the coffee.

Scott Shanks

They have great drinks, plenty of space, and a decent sized outdoor area. It's adorned with cute decorations. Very unique spot, highly recommend.

Garrett Gates

Hip coffee joint! Great music and cool vibe!

Steven Beisswenger

My favorite coffee shop by far in Kansas City! There's a great selection of house roasted beans to buy and take home as well as amazing lattes and other drinks to enjoy there or to go. And the vibe in the coffee shop is awesome.

Lauren Conner

Great coffee! And you can order a shot of cbd in any drink, I like it in my chai

Wendy Brooks

Great iced mocha

Super Man

I liked the atmosphere and decor, plus the coffee is great. Upstairs they have several small rooms so it’s easy to find a place to sit and talk. Definitely coming back!

Edwin Thoma

Sorry, I did not go there, just parked close to Mayest CofeeI went to Grinders, next door. Sorry Google. My Bad! Hard to give a rating if I didn't go there?

Mindy Upshaw

Great coffee, tea and other concoctions. Love the art too.

Landon Hambright

Love the new place. The build-out and aesthetics inside is gorgeous and the staff is very welcoming, unlike a lot of the local independent coffee shops. The coffee being fantastic is just an added bonus

James Jefferson

Heard the owner on a local podcast and decided check on their business. Went to the Outpost to buy one of their seasonal blends I saw on the Gram. I recieved a token for a free espresso or drip coffee with my purchase. Barista whipped up an outstanding Americano for me. At his suggestion, a decaf cause it was late in the day. I will definitely return.

Jacob Pfeiffer

This fantastic bar/coffee shop has great drinks at good prices. The atmosphere is supper causual and trendy. A great place to meet friends or do work, as long as it isn't too busy.

eirick luraas

Great location. Good coffee. Helpful servers. Great ambiance. I recommend visiting it. The seasonal coffees are a great idea.

Joe Garton

This place will make you take a detour if you are even remotely close. One of the best cups of coffee and the best atmosphere we have ever been to!

Traci Meeds

Awesome baristas. Very welcoming to a first-timer in their cozy, hip digs. Can't wait to go back to try other roasts and teas!

Haymara Font

I expected high end, fresh coffee. Extremely disappointed. Ordered a cup of the drip coffee. It smelled like dirty socks. One thing is strong another is old. I brought to the attention of the young lady and man serving this afternoon. They took some light sips to confirm and although you could tell on their faces that the coffee was not all that it is supposed to be, they claimed it was fine. What is worse, they did not even offer to change my coffee for another. I had to take it upon myself to give my coffee back. I tried but could not drink it. It was that bad. I ordered a cappuccino which the young man made very pretty but unfortunately did not taste great either. Maybe it’s the roast. It tasted burnt as well. My suggestion, if you are going to serve high end coffee, please make sure you do. Like I said, very disappointed.

Mauritz GH

Cool place, lots of coffee options. Only thing to improve would be a few more food options.

Eric Brogden

Great coffee and atmosphere.

Angela Dugan-Starr

Amazing atmosphere and incredible baked goods. Seriously great chai and coffees. Note: They no longer have their liquor license, but are dog friendly!

Kayla Miranda

I recently moved to KS, and I have been to this shop a couple of times now. Delicious coffee, friendly service, and a warm and cozy atmosphere. Head upstairs for a more quiet environment, perfect for study sessions. Seriously, if you've never been, I highly reccomend.

james glass

Coffee was delicious and the baristas were very friendly and on point. The downstairs was eclectic and inviting. The upstairs on the other hand, was a whole other creepy vibe of uninvited-ness and deafening silence due to all the headphone wearing students. Probably great for studying though.

G K

Suck a cool spot in the heart of downtown KC. Easy parking, easy to find, it’s very chill too. Coffee just amazing!

Sean Prestidge

Thou Mayest strikes a rich balance between handcrafted coffee drinks and a relaxed lounge environment that invites you to meet up with your friends and stay for hours. I'm definitely a coffee nerd and I can say that if you are like me, you will enjoy the coffee experience at Thou Mayest. Whether you prefer espresso or a nice pour-over, their house roasted coffee is on point.

Brian Burton

Thou Mayest is a pretty cool little coffee shop in the East Crossroads. They used to also serve beer and drinks, but they no longer do that, and instead have a cereal bar.

Mr. Morgan

I always drink coffee here because its so aromatic and delicious

Joe Noga

The coffee, along with the people working there, was amazing so for whatever else I say that needs to be understood. I will return, it was that good! Unfortunately, it felt a little unorganized and there weren't many places to sit to enjoy my coffee. It was definitely a 'hipster' crowd, which I am not a part of, but I enjoy watching and listening to. It felt a little like going to Starbucks (which I do not love) and ordering a small coffee and they call it a "tall" - if I need an interpretation then it sort of loses something for me. But again, I will go back because the coffee was that good!

Nathan Anderson

Great place. Can't wait for the new location!!!

Elizabeth Pearson

Urban city coffee shop vibes with a full bar. They have cozy chairs and couches, which I love! Exposed brick interior, tunes turned up, and upstairs seating available. Homemade pastries, which I crush (try the strawberry pop tart). Coffee is good - a range of options - more of the craft brew thing, if you're into that. I enjoy working from my laptop here. It's a little loud (they keep the tunes turned up), so not great for phone calls or meetings - but perfect for solo work.

John Rogers

One of my favorite coffee shops of all time. Service is great, coffee is fantastic. Never had something I I didn't completely enjoy.

Mark Sharp

Love the coffee and the shop.

Marie Gail Stratford

It isn't often that a coffee shop wins my loyalty on the first visit. That was over a week ago. And now I have a new favorite place to order lavender lattes and hangout. The lighting upstairs is perfect, so I plan on coming to draw or read as often as possible. Oh--and the staff couldn't be more charming. Love this place!

Ryan Zumbach

I loved this place! So much so that I almost bought one of their shirts. We went at 9pm and it was poppin' but not too crowded. And everyone in the place both customer and server looked genuinely happy. I had an amazing cold brew coffee and orange liquor cocktail with an orange peel on the side.

Jeff Evans

Literally the best people (minus one, you know who you are)

Carl Dillman

Great coffee, great atmosphere, and they're named for Steinbeck's East of Eden! How can you go wrong? We will be back.

darrell byrd

Always a pleasure going here knowledgeable about there products and the Menu has a pairing with cigars on the back didn't know that

Stephanie Lee

Best selection of coffee and teas in town. Fixed to suit your personal tastes.

Very comfy, nice atmosphere, good coffee/beverages, love that area of town, but I don't necessarily love paying the cost of a small box of cereal for a bowl. I don't go to coffee shops to save money, though, so I still highly recommend.

Friendly, knowledgeable baristas and staff. My traditional macchiato was excellent.

I love this place! Being from Colorado, I somehow feel very much at home here. Great atmosphere, great coffee, beer and cocktails, beautiful inside or out back on the patio. Anytime is a good time here, but I really love it on a cold day!

I always thought this place was just a coffee shop, but I was pleased to see it also serves alcohol. The vibe is fantastic and it made me feel I was on college campus again. I'll be returning soon.

Great coffee house. Coffee is delicious. They have live music, and a beautiful outdoor patio you can enjoy. The vibe of the place can change so if you are looking for a busy packed place with dancing, weekends are the time to go. If you want more of a relaxed coffee house feel then you want to drop by during the weekdays morning- afternoon.

This place is a local gem. From an owner that is passionate about the product he provides and the community he supports to the knowledgeable baristas that always have smiles on their face - Thou Mayest never disappoints. When the weather is nice be sure to hang on the back patio that is like a lush mini jungle thanks to the owner's green thumb.

Not only do they serve coffee, but they also serve alcohol, there is a little bit of something for everyone! The main level is a bit busier and louder as that's where the bar is. Upstairs there are couches, chairs, and tables that offer a more relaxed environment that feels more true to the coffee shop charm. There is also a balcony off of the top floor, the view of the city is pretty nice from there and on a warm summer day, it is a perfect place to spend a few hours

Absolutely amazing coffee shop! The staff were very friendly and cheerful without being fake or too over the top. Great music and a wonderful atmosphere! Great selection of both coffee and tea, as well as fantastic pastries.
