The quinoa breakfast bowl was delicious, break burrito was good, and bagel was solid. We didn't get to try the juices but looked good. The wait for food was pretty intense, but it was mid-day on a Sunday. Liked the outdoor space. Would have loved to have had reusable cups vs plastic for dining in. Staff was very friendly.

I used to work here, and still come in ALL the time. Great local coffees, great local pastries, great atmosphere, free wifi, bicycle parking, basically everything you should want from a coffee shop. The original location (this one) has much more sitting area than the Westport shop (which is more of a drive-thru), but both are fantastic. Also, if you come through, don't skip out on the juice. Working here, I got free juice pretty much 24/7, and it's all fresh-squeezed in store and FANTASTIC. Same goes for the sandwiches, some of the best coffee shop food in KC.

Wow, the Filling Station is a gem!! Wanted top-notch coffee and a yummy breakfast and was blown away by all of it. Had the Everyday Bowl, and the combination of textures and flavors was masterful - nuttiness from the peanut butter, sweetness from the banana, and tartness of the kefir - I savored every bite. Their cold brew is outstanding too. Strong flavor but very smooth. Over the moon I stumbled upon this place during my trip to Kansas City. Highly recommend.

My favorite Coffee in the whole city! I always use a flat white as my meter. I have never had a bad cup of coffee. It is perfectly smooth and never burnt! I have only ever had one bad barista ... the only thing that was bad though was her attitude. The coffee again.. was great!

I really want to like this place because it is walking distance from my work. The last 3 times I have gone in, I have walked out grossly dissatisfied with the quality and value. Hip and posh coffeeshops are always expensive, but I always feel like I am walking out with something different or less than what I ordered here. I will be making the drive to another area coffeeshop in the future.

The raw juice was great and the quinoa bowl was one of the tastiest I've had. I wish it was bigger for the price though. I'm not a big eater (small female) and was still hungry at the end. They could use a bigger bowl and just add more quinoa since it's not as expensive as the toppings. Building was cute and I'd come here again. I might have a snack before though.

2 stars strictly for the food and juices. 3 stars are missing because of how truly bad the coffee is. They use messenger coffee which is without a doubt the worst coffee roaster in Kansas city. It has such a strong acidic, sour flavor that is similar to drinking orange juice after brushing your teeth. The food is so good and is the only reason I return to Filling Station. The coffee is the only thing keeping me from being truly in love and supportive of this shop.

Latest Visit: Quite displeased with my latest trip to this place. Took the staff about 5 minutes to even acknowledge me and take my order but then three of the staff took my order and caused confusion over my coffee. And when they finished, no one bothered to call it out or let me know. The pourover I got wasn't even all that impressive. About a two star visit, but I'm averaging to three since my first visit was fine. Hopefully this was just an off morning for the crew. First visit: Great coffee shop. The staff is great, coffee flavorful, and acoustics noticeably conducive to conversation or study. At the time of writing, the men's restroom could use some but of TLC.

This place is awesome....and yes, I totally agree with the reviewer that said you immediately don't feel "hip" enough. LOL The ambiance is very "hipster". In keeping with the filling station vibe, you are given a license plate to put on your table so they can bring your order to you. How cool is that? I used to work about a block from here and it was my special treat to get out of the office to come here. The only reason I didn't come very often was that it made me not want to go back to work. I've had several things on the menu but I highly recommend the almond marzipan croissant (for your sweet tooth) or the Bitchin BBQ French Dip....for your savory yen. Why did I only give it four stars? Parking is not good and finding seating can sometimes be a challenge.

Great service depends on the day you go. On Saturday, I was looking for some gluten free options for my wife. They were very helpful! Our food was delicious. Apparently donuts are delivered on Tuesdays, Thursday's, and Saturdays. I went back on Sunday and asked for other gluten free options. The person who helped me on Saturday was not there. They were annoyed and not very helpful.

Really cool little coffee shop! There is a patio if it is nice out and you feel like drinking your coffee outside, but there are a few tables inside as well! Parking is easy in this area so that shouldn't be an issue. The coffee is good and so are the pastries! This place gets a good amount of foot traffic and rightly so since it is a cool locations with good service!

I wasn't a huge fan of the coffee. The service is good and the food was good, but they serve the Bagel and Lox on a tiny little tray that makes it hard to spread your cream cheese on your bagel. The quiche was more like an egg casserole, it didn't have the consistency of a quiche. The look of the place is cool and it was an enjoyable visit, we sat outside, and I like the area.

Great quiche and coffee - just a little disappointed. Intended to chill out here for a while before heading to work - gave them my name to call too. Instead, they packaged everything up to go and didn't call out the order or my name. Didn't realize until coffee cooled a bit. Literally a small thing but kinda derailed my plan to chill out there and enjoy the atmosphere.

A beautiful afternoon, a great cup of coffee, and a bicycle ride. What could be better? Quite a let, of course. But you have to settle for what you can do. Stop in, you will like it.

One of my favorite cafés in Kansas City. Came here for the first time in 2011. I'm now in town on business and went out of my way just to stop and get coffee and food. This place remains as great as ever. Friendly and helpful baristas. Coffee is fantastic. It's also a nice study/work spot, but it does get loud during peak hours.

This was a beautiful coffee shop with brick aesthetics. Inside they have rolling glass doors too that open to the outside if they wish to. The coffee was good and employees were nice for the most part. They didn't hold a conversation too long but were friendly either way. The location also has an outside deck. From what I hear this was the original location and they expanded to a few more around Kansas City.

I love love love The Filling Station! I always get a ginger Smith juice and add a beet. The people are always very friendly, and I am never disappointed with food that I get here. Parking could be a little bit better, but overall, I love this little cafe nestled in the heart of Kansas City. There is outdoor seating, as well as indoor seating. It's a very industrial looking building inside, and you can see them make the juices right in front of you. Whenever I go to Crown Center, I will always shoot right up Gilham and go to The Filling Station every time.

I have been a regular here for many years. The staff is friendly and the drink selection is amazing. There is a variety of brews and selection of breakfast items/pastries. All of their pies, cookies, etc are made in house and are phenomenal! On warm days there is usually a larger crowd who like to take advantage of the awesome atmosphere and outdoor space. It is easy to become a regular and since there is a small staff they will easily remember your name and order.

Gone here for pretty much as long as it has existed. The past year or two though.... prices have just gotten out of hand. First, something basic like a 16oz latte is going to run you $5-6 (Before tip). Then they have other food items, like juice which is going to run about twice as much as the hand made fresh juices from a popular breakfast spot 2 blocks away. A small breakfast burrito (with nothing else) is around $7+.... a latte and burrito with 15% gratuity cost about $13.50. I wonder if they rent the location and rent has gone up, or what? I’m not a real estate expert, but with seemingly widespread growth in KC, I can imagine real estate values going up, and rent going up. I have known several businesses to close up because they sold they locations recently, and even seen an empty parking lot being sold for $1 Million. I worry that they are going to price themselves out of the market place. I know I am much more likely to go elsewhere ... considering I can get a hardy full breakfast with drink at a trendy local a stones throw away for like $10. Great out door patio, friendly service. First time was kind of a mess, shop flow is not very intuitive and felt awkward. Had no clue where dishes went either. Espresso was killer so that's all that mattered, smoothies were amazing too!

They serve Messenger coffee, that's a plus, and the barista made a very good drink. What I really like about it though is the shop setup, style, and space. It's in an old gas station, has lots of exposed brick, and has quite a large patio area. Plenty of seating inside and out. They also have a juice bar, which you don't see in every cafe.

This had been a good place to study and I've had friends work on here in the past so I've preferred coming here but today I was blown away, literally by the volume of music the was deafening and hard to understand in any other way than to drive me out of the place at the precise minute. I knew they closed at 6 so I was already starting to gather my things up but I thought that was pretty rude. My ears are still ringing and I don't think I'll be back.
