Great atmosphere. Loved the espresso rubbed brisket. Go do some looking around in the west bottoms and stop in for lunch.

Quin Thompson

The flavors speak to the soul, friendly service, and the atmosphere has a homely feel to it. Will be a regular from here on

A.K.A Browner

Service was good and my meal came out quickly. I expected a little tastier fare from a trendy looking place like EJ's. The only thing I had I would say is superb was the squash casserole.

Yvette Cohn

Took my family here recently and was really excited to try it since I've heard great things but it was definitely a let down. The food was average at best, especially for the high prices. Service was extremely slow and very unattentive. The restaurant was very hot as well. No one wants to get sweaty at a restaurant.

Sunday brunch is terrific. Hot fried chicken is the days special - we requested the hot sauce on the side which kept the skin crispy and the meat was moist. The Bottoms Benedict, with a fried green tomato, is a nice twist to the standard versions elsewhere. Everything cooked to order, served hot, friendly service and tasty food prepared very well. Impressive. I will be back!

nicholas rickard

The food is spectacular and the staff is really friendly. The weekend brunch and weekday lunches are what this place is all about. If you go on a Friday night it may be a bit empty.

stephen sokolowski

What this place never lets us down. My GF always gets the shrimp and grits and I always try something different. Amazing food and amazing service. I just wanna day thank you and keep up the good work.

Kathleen Werle

Amazing food, great service, friendly staff! Highly recommend

Alex Criger

This place is really great, excellent dishes. They really know how to cook a brisket. The atmosphere is very welcoming. So far every person I've met that works here is extremely nice and helpful. I have eaten here several times since they have opened and have not been disappointed once.

TIFNSPEJHA WIPESNEHGOSGHS

By far the best BBQ I have had in KC! Brisket with the white BBQ sauce is on point. Ribs are fantastic. Burnt ends melt in your mouth. Eric and John are great hosts! Must see BBQ spot in KC!

Cari Carpenter

The squash casserole is a must try! Run!!

Connor Boisen

Truly a Kansas City gem here, the food is DELICIOUS, well priced, and VERY well portioned. The owners are just the nicest people and the atmosphere is very unique and ties into the area well. Its a very comfortable place to meet up, have a meal, and just connect and relax. They're catering is wonderful as well... and the Mac & Cheese... you cant beat it! Don't be afraid to try it, seriously, it will become your new favorite spot.

Kennae Grigsby

Very good food. Apple cranberry cider is fire

Marina Madrigal

So incredibly amazing. We are from out of town looking for a place to go in the busy lunch hours on the weekend when we discovered this place. It has so much to offer. Just from walking in the door, the owner was greeting us and appreciating that we were here eating his food. The atmosphere is friendly and lively and the food was amazing. Everything on the menu looks delicious and we believe that they took their cookie straight out of the oven and it was heavenly! Will definitely be visiting again when back in the area!

tony digirolamo

Great food, definitely 4.5 stars

Anneasyka Roston

The food is AMAZING!! The staff is sooo friendly and I will absolutely be going back to enjoy it again

Lisa Zahabi

Great place! Great food!

Pamela Woodley

I wish I could say I had a good experience. I've heard so much about the place and I've been wanting to go for a long time but sadly it was not a good day. I didn't think brunch tasted that good. The pancakes were tough, but it was a hefty serving. I didn't like the shrimp and grits either. I was surprised to get one pre-packaged syrup. But the worst part was the amount of time to get our checks--nearly an hour to get it straightened out. I don't know why the poor lady was so confused. Maybe They do not separate checks like most places, so it took awhile to sort it all out and they still didn't get it right. We only had 8 people and 3 of them came late? I'm willing to give it another try but never Sunday brunch again.

J Marts

Destination place to hit that's away from the city a bit but def worth the trip. Never had a bad meal here & the protein +3 is excellent.m & so are the greens. If you haven't tried it yet give it a shot. Service & food always spot on.

Emilee Martin

Great food, great service, great environment. Definitely worth the stop

Brandon M

The food here is outstanding, there are great beers on tap, lots of TVs above the bar, and the owner is a really great guy (and a wonderful, accomplished chef!). This place is a total West Bottoms gem whether you're looking for a great lunch spot or a solid brunch on the weekends. My favorite is the brisket grilled cheese. Give it a try!

Robert Davis

Large portions vegan friendly awesome bread pudding.

H Halverson

This is an order at the counter open seating diner style restaurant with unique whole food creations and american favorites. I got the 3 meat skillet and my wife the Bottoms Bennie. The three meat skillet seems small but is loaded with ham, sausage and smoked brisket over dirty rice then tapped with a fried egg and breakfast gravy. This is a hearty meal that fill even the biggest apatite. The bottoms Bennie is a eggs benedict twist served with fried green tomatoes. It was pretty busy on the Saturday afternoon on a first Friday weekend so it took a while for our food to arrive bit the quality and the fact that is is whole, made to order food it's worth the wait. They do have a full bar, wine and beer to have with your meal. The open seating and tight table arrangement in this small restaurant means that you may have to share a table with strangers (uncomfortable for some patrons) but the tables are large so it really is the same distance as any other restaurant it's just that the table is connected with the other people.

Brandon Thomsen

Stopped by for lunch, was a very enjoyable meal. The Burger, and the brisket grilled cheese were fantastic.

Shannon Wms

The burnt ends were really good and the mac & cheese was delicious!!

Brandon Wisemore

This place is far more than good food, it's an overall great experience! Family dinner style seating with that kind of vibe! Do yourself a favor and check this place out!

TaiJah Singleton

Five stars because the food was that great!!! But the hostess was very rude and unhelpful. Please encourage the staff to be more friendly to new comers.

Stephene Garrett

My first time here and Inhad the Brisket Mac and Cheese and I must say bomb ditty. You gotta try

Christian Trozzolo

Great food. Very fresh. Recommended everything. :)

Keith

I really like this place. We went at 8:30 on a Saturday morning and there was plenty of room. The food was great and prices were reasonable. Everyone there was super friendly as well.

Scott Sperry

A new favorite place in the Kansas City West Bottoms. Delicious food - killer BLT! Full bar, KC Bier Co on tap as well as Austin Eastcider. Oh, did I mention the barbecue?! Order the Meat+Three.

Roberta Frost

EJ's is a warm, clean, well decorated location. It fits well into the area of the West Bottoms. I'm taking the hubby with me next time I go because I know he'll like it too. That said, the ambiance isn't the best part of EJ's, it's the food. It's so well presented because it's sooo good!! Stop by, have a brew, the iced tea is really good, and enjoy a comfortable eatery.

Stacie Porter

So impressed! Food was Great! Very accommodating. Great place for work lunches with a larger number of people.

David Selby

Order at the counter, then be served at pay at your table. #progressive The food was AMAZING. Don't skimp on the biscuits and gravy. Got the half order and was very VERY pleased.

aaron isbell

A absolute must in the KC area. Food was amazing had a awesome southern taste. The live music was great too, not overwhelming but great background ambiance. Prices are great, as was the service quick and polite. Will be a return place every time I hit up the Kansas City Area.

Kami Woodard

The food was just okay. One of our servers was not very kind and seemed agitated.

She_ Just_iss

Service was great. Love the ambiance and story of the history of the building. You can see the flood markers for yourself on the outside of the building. One of the owners spoke with every person in the restaurant to ensure their dining experience was a good one, which was a nice touch. Big portions and reasonable prices. Be careful, they close at 3 pm for the day. Can't wait to see how this part of town grows and how EJ's evolves with it.

Ginny Bland

Brisket grilled cheese sandwich is tasty!

May Harris

Great food clean surround check it out for yourselves.

Kasey Sutherland

Food and service was excellent. Loved it!

Jeff Hamons

Seriously.... The best brisket I have EVER eaten. Sides were great too! Staff was fantastic! Felt like I was eating with friends!

Jenae Hancock

What a westside gem! The staff is super friendly and will run down every item on the menu for you if need be. Orders are placed at the counter, grab a #, then take a seat. Brunch on the weekends and daily specials.

Brittian Lee

This food is a step above anything else in the area at a price you cannot beat.

Keith Darnell

Wonderful food and people. Best burnt ends in KC. I've had them all. Hands down, the best. We arrived at closing on Saturday, 3p.m. We called and ask if we could eat. We were welcomed with polite gratitude. Staff, extremely polite and helpful. We met an owner, she was delightful. A definite GEM for KC and the west bottoms. Can't wait to go back.

Jancris Morris

My husband and I saw the restaurant featured on KCPT. It looked great so we decided to try it. We walked in and immediately felt the warm, inviting atmosphere. We were then very happy to discover that the food is UNBELIEVABLY DELICIOUS!!! Chef John Smith cooks with heart and it shows. The service isn't just good--it's better than most of the other restaurants we frequent! Miranda has become our new favorite server, she offers genuine service with a smile and an abundance of energy. We'll be recommending EJ's Urban Eatery to all of our clients, family and friends from now on! Thank you very much for making our visit and our meal so enjoyable!

Carl Miller

Was not happy with the breakfast, pancakes taste like baking soda, butter and syrup came and packages. When eating at a restaurant when I pay $14 I at least expect warm syrup and butter. Service was just ok I asked for water it seemed like they forgot about me in the corner. Tables where over-sized, I was trying to have a personal conversation was not expecting other people to join my table, not anti/social but when I’m eating felt weird with eyes looking at me while they where waiting on there food. So my experience was not the best, seems like chef Robert Irvine might be visiting this place soon really needs some help. I wish I could give 0 stars.

Josh

This is a fun little eatery, the service was great, the food was mostly good. I ordered something really complicated, they served it correctly, and it tasted great. My friends burger was a little burnt, and the food was a little pricey though(even for my complicated order of an extra egg, and no potatoes or English muffin). They had live music which was cool, but I was yelling the whole time to talk to my friend and wife. The tables were huge so there was a lot of room. The parking lot was a good size, over all it was a good experience.

Khandi Myers

Love the atmosphere! The food was very favorable.

Jacob Seib

I loved the brisket chili. I've never had anything like it. Service was great and they were very friendly. I will definitely return when I come to town.

Drew and Paige Snow

Love love love love love this place!! Delicious food, great drinks, and the nicest staff probably ever. If you haven't been yet you need to go. The meat and 3 is where it's at!!

Bryan P

We went on a Friday and got the burnt end special. True burnt ends, very tender and the sauce complements the meat very well. Talked to Eric who is one of the owners. He made us feel very welcomed. We will be back for sure.

Joel Whitaker

Hearty food at a good price. Shrimp and grits were topped with bacon that was almost candied. Good service.

Kylee Jaeger

Great vibe. Great food. Great drinks. Definitely coming back when I visit KC again. ❤️

Meghan Minihan

This is probably my favorite place in the city. The food is always amazing, the staff is always friendly, the vibe is laid back... What's not to love? All of my favorite comfort foods made to order but with amazing, high end ingredients and presented beautifully. You can come here in work clothes or for date night and it all fits the bill. We are even having our rehearsal dinner here... They do that, too! I don't even like pancakes, but the ones here are to die for. Fluffy inside, crispy outside, topped with strawberry preserves... Dreamy. And don't leave without dessert. Everything is good. Yes, EVERYTHING.

Melodie Rodriguez

Courteous wait staff and nice atmosphere.

Zachary Crabtree

Great Food. Great People. Great Place!

Betsy McLeod

My dad is PICKY about Brisket and he now swears by this place. The owners are amazing. Highly recommend. Brussel sprouts on point.

Aubrey Fuller

Loved both the food and service here. I had the blackened catfish and it was by far the best I’ve had. The sides were great as well, I had the green beans, local greens, and tomato bisque soup. The dessert was delicious and I would come back here for just the dessert alone. The owner came and chatted with our table after they closed. He was extremely nice. It’s a must try in my book.

Cheyenne Howard

Amazing! We went for Saturday brunch. His 3 meat skillet looked small but was definitely enough food and wonderfully delicious. I had the Benedict and everything about it was perfect...even loved the side salad! Service was super friendly too

Cory Stewart

Food was fantastic! We ordered the Shrimp and Grits as well as the West Bottoms breakfast ... it all hit the spot. Simple yet fun atmosphere and decor. Give it a shot, you will be happy you did!

Dan Demory

This place is AWESOME! The food, the atmosphere, the staff and the owners make this place excellent! The owners were checking in with us during our entire meal and our food was amazing! Thank you!

Emily Philpot

I was BLOWN AWAY when I walked in the door. EJs transports you from the industrial west bottoms, to a beautifully modern urban eatery. The menu is thoughtful and unique. I am quite the shrimp and grits connoisseur and order it at any opportunity. Unfortunately I was pretty diasspointed. The grits were large grain, stone ground, an odd choice for texture, and desperately needed salt. If the water isn't salted enough to begin with, there is no making up for it at the table. However, I was so impressed with my husband's brisket breakfast, the atmosphere, the thoughtfulness of the menu, and the service I would still absolutely try this place again and recccomend it to others. This is a west bottoms gem and the kind of business I want to support.

Samantha Howell

So glad to have another great place to eat in the west bottoms! The food is great atmosphere is quaint and service is excellent!

Jailan Subject

Maple bacon shrimp and grits! It was absolutley phenomenal!

Autumn Chartier

The owner was so personable and the staff was very nice! Their burgers and fries are huge and delicious too!

Sarah Hannes

We were here for the weekend for wedding and came for brunch on a Saturday. Food was amazing, atmosphere was casual and service was exceptional! We ordered the special (Autumn vegetable toast with salmon) and the brisket grilled cheese. We also had the toffee figgy pudding cake for dessert. The cake and the special were my personal favorite, but everything we got and the other couple got we're really good. Prices were good, we didn't have a wait but sounds like they are usually pretty busy on the weekends. I would recommend checking it out for sure!

Seth Thompson

A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! We went for a Holliday dinner and it was the best meal we have had in years. It is definitely worth the drive.

John Shahane

The best place to eat in KC

Jim Kleikamp

Had a terrific lunch at EJ's today. The brisket grilled cheese was terrific. Staff was extremely friendly and food arrived very quickly.

Brian Williams

Great place with friendly staff! I think just about every staff member talked to us making us feel welcome. The food we had was great and the food at the next table over looked awesome too! We will be going back to try more dishes from this great little place.

Samantha Overman

Low key with great food!

Craig Ritchie

Love it. Food is good.

Glenda Ridgeway

Wonderful atmosphere. Service and food were excellent!

Tim Reynolds

The service was friendly, and Pulled pork sandwich was great! I got take out today for my first trip ever to EJs.

Randy and Angela Trimble

Amazing Cuban sandwich!!

David Kroeger

Ended up at EJ's for brunch. Order up front. Ask about the specials. Had brisket which was great. Eggs Benedict was really good. Service was kind of slow, but they had a sick employee, don't let that be a negative. Excellent staff and experience.

Darius Hampton

Quick service and great food. If you go, you must try the brisket.

David Soine

We enjoy the interesting menu...always good food at EJ's.

Kerry Arnold

Menu looked impressive, however we were unable to order from most of it. Had the brisket and 3 sides and for the price I was so not impressed, the brisket was tough the mac and cheese way salty, fries were the decent part. Waitresses extremely knowledgeable and so nice. Was sad to see one of them be horribly berated by the owners wife in front of all their patrons. Will not be returning.

Denys Kovalenko

I visited this place today at lunch time. I like this place very much! The number one is food here: it's amazing!! super yummy and fresh! Second is interior. Also the location: not very usual location that makes the place interesting.

Chelsea Monahan

I should have gotten pictures, but this place was overall the best service and food I've had in the two years of living in Kansas City! My friend and I arrived after 2pm (they close at 3pm) and we weren't rushed out after they had closed. We waited about 25 minutes for our food, and the chef apologized, but we hadn't even noticed because we were chatting. Then they comped our desserts! I over-ate because it was all so delicious! I had the meat plus three (brisket, mac & cheese, squash casserole, tomato bisque). Then the host (who was awesome) suggested the bread pudding, which was SOOOO good... (And I'm really picky about bread pudding!) The chef came out and apologized again, even though there was no reason to! All I'm saying is, it was reasonably priced, delicious and the people working there were great! I will definitely be back and recommend it to my friends!!

Josh S

Stopped by for lunch. The location was easy to find in the old West Bottoms area. The place is new, clean and had a very cool vibe to it. The staff was also very friendly and the burger and fries were excellent. Will definitely visit again.

Johnny Smith

Great food

Isabella Hayden

This is an amazing place to eat! It brings a southern concept to Kansas so you can build your own plate for a bargain price! Its a small, family owned and run business trying to bring some new life to the West Bottoms. The meat is amazing, especially the ribs, and they have so many sides and they are to die for! There is no designated kids menu but many kid friendly options. Very welcoming and accommodating!

Preston Rothwell

Emily was a wonderful server and great place to eat good food

Ducker Smash

The westbottoms is home to many hidden gems, and this one shines very brightly

Bonnie Wall

Great food with a trendy twist. Not your typical greasy bar food. Beware, bloody mary's are very spicy.

McCurry Linda

Yum. Had the shrimp and gritts followed by figgy pudding.

Michael Wood

Seriously some of the best food I've enjoyed in a long time. The staff was on it. I actually met the owner and his business partner/head chef, who were there checking on every table personally, and they treated cousin and grandpa and I like we were somebody important... But forget about that. I went there for food, and it was a amazing! It felt like a combination of fine dining, and South comfort food. Very fairly priced. I got an entree (meatloaf, by far the best I've ever had) and my choice of 3 sides for like $12. Beer was as cheap as $2, and that wasn't even on special. They had some interesting stuff on the menu that I've never tried before which is always something I like to see when I go out to eat. We're going back for the old man's birthday I guess. I've only ever written 3 reviews on Google, with this one being my 3rd, so that tells you somethinh

joshua stadler

EJ's is ok. It is in a kind of cool location where there is nothing. Possibly some growth coming soon to the area. But it is a destination, you're not going to be in the neighborhood for any other reason. The food is good but it doesn't wow me. Not anything so amazing that I feel the need to travel to this location. On top of that I feel it is over priced for what you get. $10 gets you two eggs, a piece of toast and 1/2 cup of sweet potato, add two dollars for the brisket up charge which is probably only an ounce or two. All of this together does not make it high on my list of places to go.

Alyssa Sobba

Not super impressed with the food. Came on father's day, and they were half-staffed in the kitchen, so they were only serving from their brunch and meat+three menu. West Bottoms Breakfast was pretty bland. The poor lady behind the bar deserves a raise!

S Madrueno

They give PASTA straws instead of plastic. PAPER WILL BE A BIG IMPROVEMENT! The big plastic movement is to help save the ocean environment, which is hundreds miles away. How many products do you use that come in plastic containers?

Paul VanLandingham

Quite good. The brisket Mac and cheese was really tasty, although the brisket was fatty. I'm generally ok with that though. Shrimp and grits is excellent

Steve Lewis

Had the West bottoms breakfast w/ brisket, poached eggs and cheezy potatoes. The brisket was FANTASTIC! my gf had the protein w/ 3sides: brisket, squash casserole, Mac n cheese and green beans. The squash casserole was AMAZING!

Kristen Gorombey

Been wanting to try this place for awhile and loved it! It's high quality food right in the heart of the West Bottoms. The menu can change seasonally but the ongoing theme is a "Meat & 3" option where you pick one protein and 3 sides. Here is what we ordered: {Pork Chop w/ 3 Sides - Green Beans, Braised Collard Greens, & Summer Squash Casserole} - pork chop was tasty, but my goodness they know what they're doing with these sides. All were so flavorful, I couldn't stop eating the collard greens, but the star was definitely the squash casserole...wow. {Brisket Grilled Cheese} - Smoked Brisket, Aged Cheddar and Swiss Cheese on Texas Toast; my husband's pick, definitely cheesy & the brisket was tender but the bread to meat/cheese ratio was uneven for me; as the side we picked Roasted Sweet Potato Wedges - not sure how they transformed a sweet potato like that but they were the best I've ever tasted!

Ginger Riddle

Delicious and creative food.

Jim Ready

If you like brisket make sure and get it! Some of the best I've ever had.

Natalee Wilhite

What a wonder place to sit down and enjoy a 5 star meal. Great service and prices! Love love love!

Aaron Davis

Good atmosphere. It is a sit yourself place, and the type of place you sit at the same table with another patron/group. Great food, slightly greasy but absolutely worth it

Markus Reed

great food

Shea Smith

Nice people, great location.

Jay Antle

Always a solid brunch with friendly staff.

Ron Gambell

An fantastic place to eat, the brisket is incredible, daily specials. This is a new favorite place to eat. They use as much local food as they can and they taste shows that. Everyone welcome here, great staff.

Christian Els

Innovative cuisine, expertly prepared in an amiable environment. Strong bar too.

MissRedd C

Absolutely fantastic. I had the meat and 3, blackened catfish, green beans, local greens, and a side salad. First, my family is very southern, I've had catfish several ways this is by far the best catfish I have ever had. No seasoning required these green beans came out so delicious, same with the greens. Couldn't have had had a better meal in an upscale restaurant. Compliments to the chef!!!!

Travis Vander Vegte

Red eye sauce is amazing! Shrimp and grits are a must have. Eggs benedict with house made buttermilk dressing over spinach salad was a perfect balance. Boubon sweet tea great compliment to the shrimp and grits. Highly recommend!

Sean O'Malley

I stopped in to EJ’s for a late lunch on a Friday afternoon. The Happy Hour menu had begun, and they were still serving their popular Meat & 3. My Blackened Catfish was perfectly cooked, and the Blackening Seasoning was flavorful with just enough heat. The Baked Mac & Cheese, Squash Casserole and Brussels Sprouts were all delicious! My server/bartender was pleasant and quite knowledgeable about the menu and the restaurant in general. The portions were plenty adequate, and I thought the prices are fair. I will be back soon!

lisa mejia

Fresh, tasty food. Can definitely tell it's a farm-to-table restaurant. Friendly staff adds to the awesome experience!

Zach Somberg

Exciting, fresh menu. Great quality, friendly staff. Essential piece of the KC food scene.

Summer Lavullis

Loved it! Some of the best brisket I have ever had. Sauce was great. They decor was gorgeous!! I will definitely be back here and would recommend to everyone

Spencer Benlon

Seems a bit gentrifying, and the food is a little more expensive than I'd like, but they are a much needed modernization from the woodsweather cafe that used to be there, and the food is clean and made at a high standard for quality.

Den William

Best burnt ends ive ever had

W Tyrone Hych

Great place for casual dining.

Kyra Brown

Lunch was the bomb

Marla Maxwell

Delicious brunch options on the weekend. Would definitely try it again because I had the bottoms benedict but would also like to try the shrimp and grits

Mike Gracik

Incredible food. If you are a foodie, put this on your list. Also, our waitress was just so genuine and cool. Can't wait for a reason to go back there.

Michelle H. Tomcik

Interesting food, attentive servers, not sure why I had to watch one being berated very rudely right in the middle of the restaurant. Also the entire lunch menu was not available and other things on the available menu were sold out. Maybe questionable management.

Richard Say

Nice atmosphere, friendly staff, good attentive service. Had the brisket and 3 sides. The mac n cheese and fries were the best part of the meal. The brisket was tasty, but very tough. With the volume of food they turn out, I guess low and slow isn't an option for their smoker.

J.M. Powers

Awesome place for lunch. The wife and I have been down here a few times for lunch. The food is simple comfort food locally sourced. Service has always been excellent and the prices in my opinion are better than reasonable for the quality of food they bring to your table.

Matt May

Awesome food. Great atmosphere

Bill Fish

My first visit to EJ’s on Sunday mid-day and it was a wonderful experience. We were greeted immediately by staff and service was outstanding with visits by the bartender and owner to make sure we were well-attended. The ‘Meat & 3' is a great concept and my brisket with dipping sauce was very good but the greens and sweet potato wedges were fantastic with so much good flavor. Having local Crane Brewing Porter on tap was a bonus. The built in lazy Susans make it easy to share nibbles with friends around the table and I can’t wait to get back to try EJ’s other dishes.

Courtney Evans

They have amazing shrimp and grits! So so sooo good! Definitely a must try!

John Hutchins

This is a great place to visit and eat while in the West Bottoms. The brisket grilled cheese is the best sandwich in KC imo. Sorry the pic shows and empty plate but it’s that good!!!

John Baty

Food good portions small took long time other than that ok

Leroy Burke

Great food, service and atmosphere!!

Daniel Zubarev

Very fun eatery. Liked the environment. Food was great. Nice and quiet.

Brenda Carton

Awesome! Had lunch at EJ's today and it was fantastic. I had the meat and three with Expresso rubbed brisket, Mac n cheese, green beans and dirty rice. Portions are good and food is tasty. I would have lunch there every day because the selections are great and the food is yummy.

Beth Riley

This is one of our favorite places! It checks everything on the list – fantastic food, wonderful, warm, and personable service, all in a very unique location! We love the Nashville hot chicken on Sundays, the pancakes with fruit compote, and the biscuits and gravy! We also had a shrimp and andouille sausage dish during their valentines day event that was absolutely amazing – I hope it makes the regular menu!

Todd Wiseman

A wonderful personal friendly original piece of KC.

Meghan Dooley

As a former Alabamian, EJ’s hit all the cravings I had for down home cooking. The Bottoms Eggs Benedict was so delicious - the fried green tomato was the perfect touch. The fantastic (and attentive!) bartender talked me into some bread pudding and it was a fantastic way to end brunch. I’ll definitely be back!

Hamp Henning

One of my favorite places in KC. Great food (I love the catfish and the daily specials - burnt ends today). Great folks. Thanks!

Ashley McCoy

Try the brisket grilled cheese ;-) best ever :-)

Devin Mirfasihi

Love the atmosphere. The sides are excellent. My ribs were slightly underdone. That being said, I have high standards. I will definitely return to try other entrees.

Joelle Coleman

Phenomenal food; the brisket grilled cheese was amazing. The staff is amazing as well, very friendly and easy going. I love the feel of the place and they had Crane Brewery’s Omar Porter which it is rare to come by a porter or stout (not Guinness) at many food places.

matt hewitt

Great service, I recommend the T's tea [best tea based cocktail I ever had] and the brisket was great. A nice place to bring the family for brunch.

Troy Walker

Great place , tasty food, awsome value. Straight forward refined simplicity. Real culinary integtity!!!

hattie hulett

It was great. Love the atmosphere.

Shanon Mccall

Very good food and an excellent staff

Kenneth Bentley

Don't miss a chance to go rhere

Robert Smith

Great food. I really like this place!

David Yount

Great food.......Great Environment

Cynthia Bibb

Great food ! Reasonably priced, quality and quantity exceptional. Will be back.

Rachel Perisho

Great food and great atmosphere. I enjoyed the salmon and avocado toast special today. I wasn't sure about the blood orange segments, but it was a delightful addition. The side salad was as well dressed as the one I had last time. I went today with a friend and he was equally satisfied with his meal. Given his height, plus his wheelchair, most tables are too short for him, but the tables here are the perfect height. We ordered the white chocolate bread pudding and it did not disappoint.

Lynnette Procopio

The BLT was not very tasty as the bacon was dripping grease.

David Dellsperger

Really enjoyed everything about EJ's Urban Eatery. The food is amazing, staff is helpful and friendly, and prices are all very good. A great hidden gem in the industrial area of KCK!

Tom Hall

Very good southern home cooking

Doug McNulty

My first time in a "Meat plus three"!! Knowledgeable, friendly staff!! The meal was great and I took home a slice of delicious carrot cake!! I'll be going back!!

Jason Iezzi

The meat and three combo is excellent. The brisket has been flavorful and tender every time. All of the sides I've tried have been good. I think the best side is the greens. They've got a little spice, but not too much. The food always comes out quickly, so it's a good place to go if you're in a bit of a hurry.

Melissa Lay

Some of the best food I’ve ever had at such a great price. Atmosphere is lovely.

John Burke

Good food and very friendly. We really liked it there! We will go back.

Timothy Lee

Very good service and excellent food

Caleb Sommerville

Maybe I need to come here at a different time of day, but I'm always underwhelmed by EJ's, which is a shame. Their brisket is fantastic, their burnt end mac & cheese delicious, but it could be MORE. The tables are faaaar too high and the service layout is bizarre (order food at the front, sit down, wait for a server to order drinks, server brings drinks and food). But hey, the West Bottoms needs more places like this.

AMAZING service experience, the staff go above and beyond considering it isn't traditional table service style. Shrimp and grits on the brunch menu was wonderful, we will be back!
