We started with bacon and scallops and I ordered the Iowa chop and parmesan potatoes...delicious enough to pick it up to clean the bone..discreetly of course! Others were just as happy with their medium rare steaks and montage potatoes or green beans. Staff was available, courteous, and not obtrusive. Sorry, no room for dessert to report on!

The locals rave about this place. It's not bad, but it's nothing special either. They have a tendency to either under do or over do a flavor. Occasionally it is spot on where it should be, but for Cedar Falls it's one of the top "fancy" restaraunts.

Tried the Citrus Sea Bass there, and I must say it was awesome. And not just me, all of my friends who went with me loved the food there. The ambience has a slightly rustic old timer feeling to it, and is beautifully done. The waitress was very courteous. The location was perfect. What more could you expect for!

We appreciated being accommodated on a Friday (at 5:30) without a reservation. The bar area decor was a mix of casual/upscale. Our server was pleasant and accommodating. Sadly, the menu disappointed on several levels. The seasonal bruschetta appetizer screamed garlic, lacked a flavorful tomato, and would have benefited from a balsamic drizzle. The Iowa chop was poorly seasoned , and for Iowans not much of a chop. I chose the risotto as my side. It somehow ended up being more of a rice casserole, not creamy and just a gelatinous glob of cheesy rice. The cashew crusted chicken with orange horseradish sauce was a better with a good crusty top. However, the breast underneath lacked color or flavor. The Montage potato side dish was much better, both in presentation and flavor. The bright note was the wine. E Evolution winemakers Lucky No 9 White Blend was a great add to our meal. Light and summer refreshing! Two espressos and a chocolate soufflé with vanilla ice cream sounded like the perfect dessert, except that we received a chocolate microwave cake! I held my tongue through the meal, but could not hold back when the sever asked how the soufflé was. I pointed out that it wasn’t it a soufflé and clearly embarrassed, she acknowledged it but walked away. Even though management was visible, no one touched our table. I was terribly disappointed.

Today was my husband's deployment ceremony. We went out for a really nice "last dinner" at Montage, before he heads out tomorrow. We've eaten here before and loved the food and service. Tonight it was really busy and it just so happened that my food came out a little later than everyone's. Really, not a big deal. My husband had stepped away from the table and our waitress approached us. She apologized and and said she thought we were celebrating a birthday and wanted to give us desserts on the house. I told her told her my husband is deploying and when she came back she told us our dinner was all taken care of. Not only does this restaurant serve high quality meals but they went above and beyond to support the military and our family tonight. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

Still my favorite restaurant in the Cedar valley. The fish is fresh not frozen. I had th Opakapaka (South Pacific Red snapper). It was excellent with risotto. The price point is excellent on both food and drink. They are switching over to fall seasonal specials now so if you are a pumpkin or squash fan you are in for a real culinary treat.

Its a little more expensive than I normally shoot for, but holy buckets it's worth it. Started out with the Iowa old fashioned and it was the best old fashioned I've ever had. We had the torta and it was phenomenal. My main course was the New York strip and it was done perfectly. Highly recommend for special occasions or dates where you REALLY want to impress the other person.

We are never disappointed when eating here. The food is a step above typical Iowa fare, and the atmosphere is lovely. There is food for those with "different" tastes, as well as burgers for those who aren't quite as adventuresome. The beer selection is decent for the craft beer lover, and the mixed drink selection is exceptional!

This is one of my wife's and my favorite spots for a nicer dinner. The menu is a diverse mix of foods and has changed over the years, keeping things fresh. The staff is always helpful and friendly. Price is fair given portion size. Make sure to get the chocolate mousse souffle for dessert!

This is my favorite place to eat in the Cedar Valley. The food is always delicious. I normally get the Thai Chicken pasta with crab cakes for appetizers, however last time I went I got the seasonal fish tacos with mango salsa and it was amazing. They have great taste and mix of flavors with the dishes they offer. The service is always outstanding. We had our rehearsal dinner there and they are great to work with for planning a party.

Went for a special birthday meal with my wife. The night was ruined. We anticipated a great evening with wonderful food. Instead we got high prices with the cheapest item being 14 dollars for a little 10 inch pizza. We ordered a pizza to share and we got one piece of rubbery flat bread each and a very hard slightly burnt pizza! We made reservations and told them it was for a birthday and they did not even say happy birthday after we told the host why we were their to eat. They did not give anything for it when other places will give a treat or sing or some acknowledgement to make it special. When the waitress asked how we liked the food we told her it was hard and burnt and she just walked away. I am just glad we did not order more expensive food considering the way the pizza was. It didn't even taste good but we tried eating it so we didn't waste 14 dollars, we still didn't finish it. We left and got food elsewhere. What a disappointment!

Although I have only tried a handful of menu items, they were all somewhere between very good and excellent. I wanted to write this review after having tried a dish that was an unlikely winner. The Montage hamburger was so good I kinda can't wait to try it again, for professional reviewing purposes of course. Staff is always great and the restaurant is clean. Prices are high but well within what one would expect for a high quality dining experience such as this.

Quality place. Pan seared tuna and scallops tasted great, grouper with nuts and superb goat cheese risotto was creative masterwork, and not over filling. Lots of choice and great desert chocolates. Service was smart, present and available, without being overly familiar nor overwhelming. Venue has diverse and multiple quality spaces on 2 floors. What won me was the wine list. Affordable, eclectic and sophisticated. What other nearby place carries three Williamette valley pinot noir, and some great italian Brunello? A place that made me wonder why Ames, the bigger university town, has no matching fine dining place?

I ordered the seasonal pasta without red onions. The server came back and told me that they would try to get all of the onions out but it was premixed, so there might be a few in there. For $18 I would think that my meal would be made to order not premeasured or frozen or whatever they did. My dish was too salty and just over seasoned/spiced in general. Salty herbs basically - I didn't finish it. My gf ordered the Thai pasta chicken and it no better. The peanut sauce was terrible.

We just shared a very delightful evening at the Montage, Cedar Falls. The atmosphere and food was enhanced by a very capable and efficient waitress.This is our first time to experience the Montage and would highly recommend it to anyone. I expected it to be pricey but it was not bad. We had five guests (total of seven) and I was happy with the bill. We dined like Kings and Queens. It was delicious.

Food is not that good for the price. Waitress said they can't hold an ingredient for the pizza? Then it tasted frozen. The time before I ordered some kind of tacos.(shrimp?) Not worth the price. Declined my card for no reason. I used the card hours later with no problem.

Definitely one of my favorite restaurants in the Cedar Falls area. It has a good, chic atmosphere and a dynamic menu that has seasonal dishes. The ahi tuna is amazing, and they have some of the best twice-baked potatoes I've eaten. There's not a huge drink selection, but what they have is very good. And although it's fancy dining, the prices are not exorbitant.

I cannot believe this place is in the middle of Iowa. Just amazing food and for some reason, every single person in the wait staff is incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. I'm shocked at how consistently good our meals are here and the prices are very reasonable for a high end restaurant. Love it! The Iowa Chop and Goat Cheese Torta are my favorites. Enjoy!

For a fine dining establishment, it was pretty standard. The waitress was friendly, but not very knowledgeable of the dishes offered. She merely suggested the highest priced items on the menu in, what I can only assume, an effort to jack up her tip. Although money was not an issue, we saw right through it and simply ordered whatever sounded good to us without knowing much about it. Luckily, the food was tasty and hot, and the restaurant as a whole was well-kept, albeit empty. Still, we were seated at a large table by the kitchen despite the room being void of other customers and a beautiful table being available away from the clamour of the staff. Since we were on a date, a large table near the workers was very inappropriate, but I suppose that waitress simply needed the business in her section and that was more important. I should also mention that she was wearing yoga pants (yuck) and sported nails that were so long she nearly dropped my martini in my lap. . . twice. Although the kitchen staff was obviously talented at preparing and presenting the menu, they weren't very skilled at keeping the noise down. I'll just say that things got very casual in there, and thus the conversation taking place became the subject of ours. We may return in the future, but only for the appetizers that were heavenly.

Went for our anniversary, everything was spectacular. Our server Josyln, the watermelon martini, the amazing sweet potato deliciousness. The goat cheese torta. Just have to say wow. The atmosphere was excellent!
