Lovely place for lunch or dinner. Atmosphere is nice servers are friendly. Food is great at a reasonable price.

Mary Jaekels

It was a nice location with a wonderful view but that’s the best thing I can say about it. The vegetable side that was offered on the menu ended up being a mini corn cob that was ice cold on the inside and it seem like the kind that you get in your freezer section and microwave. I ordered the salmon and it came with a side of mushroom risotto and there was nothing fresh about it. It reminded me of my mom mixing rice with cream of mushroom soup. My husband ordered the meat loaf and I thought that the sauce tasted odd. After we left he developed really bad indigestion and we had to go home so that he could take something for it. Staff was very friendly but we asked for more water and after waiting about five minutes asked some different servers for water before we got it. It was the first time that we went there and we won’t be going back.

Leah D

Lovely experience. My husband had the prime rib sandwich (which he liked) and the salty dog (which he didn't, couldn't taste any vodka). I had the 1/2 beet salad (which I LOVED) and the so co old fashioned (also very good). I also had the blue moon cheese soup, which I didn't finish because it was way too salty. If I had gotten only the salad and my husband had gotten a different drink this would have been a 5 star visit.

Sandy Oberman

Quaint, great food.

Jill Brooks

Amazing!

Todd L

Very old elegant house turned into a restaurant. The staff was superb and on the spot. The food was excellent. We split the soup and salad so we enjoyed two salads, soups, and sandwiches. Just FYI, they do not serve breakfast. They have a decent wine and bar selection.

Patrick Backus

delicious food, small portions high prices

Jane Griggs

Food was good. Nice view of the river. Very noisy at lunch time.

Drew Richter

Great food. Only place in the Quad Cities where you can get homemade icecream and hot fudge.

Sheryl Weber

Wonderful old home with delicious food! Try the limonccello (sp?) delicious!!

Albert Oldfield

Food was great, and the atmospere pleasant. I enjoyed the Vegetable Pita, and my wife had the Lobster Mac & Cheese. Very glad to find a place with vegetarian/vegan options!

Dan Virtue

Great food and the staff were awesome.

Karen Sonnee

We waited over an hour for our food here. No one explained there would be a longer than normal wait. No one apologized. When my beef sirloin tips arrived they were raw. Very disappointed with the whole experience.

Guy Lieser

Outstanding food!!!

María del Rosario Uribe Diosa

Beautiful house, but food is overpriced

Peggy Daughenbaugh

Delicious gluten-free lobster mac and cheese

Joel Hearth

Three of us waited almost 10 minutes at our table without even getting our water glasses filled. Meanwhile, a couple seated after us received water and had their order taken within one minute of being seated. We left, and we won't go back.

Kim Brakke

The food was excellent, but it certainly was not a casual cafe. It was more of an upscale restaurant that accepted reservations. Not very family friendly, kids meals were $8. But, it would have been a great place to go on a date or an adults only meal. We were driving through and it wasn't the best choice with kids.

Wesley Foster

Great food and great atmosphere!

Mike Halblander

Funky-cool interior with good food.

Hannah Holmes

Delicious food, really cool historical ambiance, and the owner is a really lovely person!

G. Douglas O'Dooley

Wonderful ambiance! Excellent food and choices. Highly recommend. Get there early or make reservations with a view of the river.

Warren Campbell

Ok food. Nice atmosphere. Could do with a touch of haute cuisine. They should separate their menu from lunch and dinner. Liked this restaurant but I would make the menu a little less meemawish.

Melissa McMahon

Great prime rib, one of the best I've had in the area. Only downside was everything on the plate came out pretty cold. The home made hot fudge was phenomenal! I will be coming back for sure, highly recommend!

This place was great. Really good food at not a bad price. Server was exceptional and the location is awesome- in an older house with a good view of the barges on the Mississippi. Would highly recommend if you're passing through.

What a fun and yummy place for lunch. This is a wonderful historic home nicely done into a restaurant.

Portion sizes are incredibly small for the amount of money you pay. Our office carried out an order of three salads today, Tomato Caprese (pictured below) was on of them with chicken $12 for a very small salad. We have all eaten on site and were very happy with our meals. Fresh ingredients but, portion sizes are not correct for the prices they want you to pay.

Barbara Davis, CD-Labor, PES

Beautiful home full of historic details and a great view of the Mississippi. Enjoyed the Blue Moon cheddar cheese soup and the Rueben and it was heavenly.

Marie Johansen

A charming historical home located

joel peterson

Beautiful old building, well kept and furnished. The food service was quick and friendly, and the food was excellent, especially the dessert!

Aaron Randolph

My wife and I ate here and we really enjoyed it. The atmosphere is very pleasant, the menu has a very unique selection compared to most of the other restaurants in the Quad Cities Area, and the food was excellent. Will definitely go back.

Vicki Schaeffer

Excellent made from scratch food. We had the black bean and corn soup, beet salad, house salad, asparagus sandwich and the chicken salad sandwich. A great view of the Mississippi River from our table.

angela shouse

Great food and service

C&P is one of the those spots that when you discover it, you can't help but want to come back anytime you're in the vicinity! The place is located in a beautiful 150 year old house on a bluff overlooking the mighty Mississippi. Upstairs is a lovely art gallery and some even better looks at the river. You enter through the front and make your way into a couple dining rooms or what used to be the kitchen. All rooms include the original floors and much of the original decor. A couple huge mirrors and fireplaces really accent things nicely. The food here is excellent! The choices include a number of salads, plenty of sandwiches and a couple dinner type item. We had the Welsh Rarebit as an appetizer - two cheeses, some Blue Moon and a delicious brown mustard - served with grilled bread, it was divine! We shared some chicken and dumpling soup. Very nice broth and really good, simple flavors. The meatloaf sandwich, with 3 toppings of your choice (Get the Bourbon BBQ sauce) was also a delight. We were going to sample dessert as it's been great in the past, but the kiddos were getting restless and alas, no sugar carbs for us! Entrees for lunch run in the $10-15 range and they've got a nice drink menu as well. A wonderful spot to check out and a one that's seriously worth considering making the drive to...especially on a nice night or day!

Had the soup and chicken burger great food great price

Atmosphere was great and food was delicious!!

Michele R

Awesome food

Leslie DuPree

Mushroom soup was excellent. Entree of salmon risotto and homemade bread also was excellent. Pumpkin pie was slightly soggy so I can only give it a four.

Santa Sue T

Neat old mansion serving outstanding food

Lorn West

Food on the most part was good, but the salad was terrible . The customer shouldn't have to cut the salad into smaller pieces before you can eat it. Service was excellent.

Brian Davis

I have been to the Crane & Pelican before and had a wonderful time. However, I fear the establishment has gone SEVERELY downhill if the service my friends and I received on October 1st, 2016 is any indication: The attention we received from our waitress was THE ABSOLUTE MINIMUM that I would accept without having immediately complained to management. She took our order, she brought our food, then she brought the bill. She NEVER asked if we wanted anything additional (we DID), AND because we were a party of 6 she automatically added a 20% tip. I wouldn't have given her a 10% tip, had I been asked on the subject, even though I typically type well in excess of 20%. Had I not been with friends, I would have complained loudly to the management. As it was, I let it slide. I had planned on holding my company Christmas party at Crane & Pelican, but that will definitely NOT be the case this year. VERY DISAPPOINTED. IF I ever come back, it will be to see if things have improved, but I will NOT recommend this establishment to any more friends or colleague. Deborah Senko

Love the food and service.

Brett Robinson

Great food! Very creative chef.

Brian Robinson

Great service and super friendly staff. Excellent food and very good beer.

Sarah

I really enjoyed the atmosphere at this restaurant. It is a super cozy, historic building with tons of character and the staff is very friendly and welcoming. However, I think the prices are a little high for the quality of the food. I ordered a prime rib entree with a mashed potato and a vegetable medley. Unfortunately, the veggies looked like they came right out of a can, which was very disappointing. My butter and sour cream for my baked potato came in those little paper cups that you expect to see at a fast food place. For the relatively high prices, I would expect more refined dishes. I would maybe come here again for a sandwich or salad, but not for a nice dinner. Not worth the price in my opinion.

Chris Eiel

What a cool place. Located in an old Italianate house. Near the river.

Luann Morine

Food good, pricey

Kate Austin

Delicious! Beautiful restaurant.

Maureen Pulkkinen

The dining room we were seated was beautiful! Chandelier was breathtaking! Chicken Marsala melted in my mouth!

Patricia Carroll

Didn't care for the good selection , it was different

We come here regularly and have never been disappointed! The parmesan crusted chicken and the chicken and dumplings are our favorites, but we've never had a bad meal. Our favorite spot to eat in Le Claire!

What a great little place this is!! Located inside an old historic mansion, The Crane and Pelican overlooks the Mississippi River right at the great bend. The food is wonderful, the service is excellent, the atmosphere is quaint, and you don't want to miss the experience of dining here. And as if I can't say enough about this place....they welcome everyone. There is a sign on the door that welcomes everyone no matter your religion, ethnicity, gender identity....all may come and enjoy this amazing little restaurant in historic Leclaire, Iowa.

Todd Seemann

charming, cozy, quaint historic mansion with a atmosphere great for intimate gatherings

Rodney Ford

I was in the area, visiting a friend, and had planned to make this our dinner stop. Since I had looked over the menu online, I had an idea of what I was having. I started with the salmon croquettes, which were very good. I only wish that I had gone with my instincts, and swapped out the wasabi aioli for the lemon version. The croquettes could have used a little more seasoning. The French onion soup was the best thing that I tasted there. I have absolutely no criticism of the soup. It tasted as if they had properly cooked it slowly, and added the perfect amount of wine and stock. Not only did I have the lone toast/crouton on top, but there were 3 grilled crostinis on the side, making it a perfect course. My buddy had the meat loaf, which came with mashed potatoes and sauteed brussel sprouts. He doesn't like brussel sprouts, so I ended up with those on my plate. They were okay, but also lacking in seasoning. I did not taste the mashed potatoes, but the portion was incredibly small. Potatoes are cheap, and he could have easily had twice as much, and not be overeating. It was a cheap move. The meatloaf good, but lacked in seasoning. The carmelized top was delicious, and you could taste the wine reduction, without it being overpowering. I had the prime rib sandwich. Everything added to the prime rib was spot-on, but the prime rib was in cubes, on the bun. The meat flavor was not only mild, but weak. It's as if the sandwich is made from trimmings of the roast, rather than a true slice. It's the first Prime Rib sandwich that I've ever had, that wasn't a slice of PR. The sandwich was tender and of decent flavor, but could have been greatly improved with a full slice of PR. Over all, I would recommend this place. They have reasonable prices. I've been in the restaurant business, and everyone has a down day. This could have been their down day, and was still pretty darn good. I would also like to give them high marks for using compostable carry out containers, instead of styrofoam. I hope they take my criticism as productive as opposed to mean-spirited. There is talent in their kitchen. Give them a try.

Kathi Polz

Wonderful food, lovely spot to see a great view of the Mississippi. The apple peach rhubarb pie was to die for!!!!!

Paul Oyen

Quaint tea shop atmosphere, with luncheon. The home made chicken and dumplings soup is the chefs own, from 3 generations and Not to be missed.

Kirk Stamper

We had a great meal and time eating here. Food was awesome! The waitress was very friendly and explained all our menu questions well. I enjoyed the nightly special, the prime rib sandwich. Delicious! My wife enjoyed the Parmesian crusted chicken breast. Delicious! I would come back. p.s. if you want cheap,go to the golden arches If you want really tasty good food, it's here.

Gui Pinho

Food is mediocre at best. A bad attempt at upscale. Ok meatloaf with red wine sauce with too much red wine, all paired with unsalted broccoli. The chicken was tender but again the sauce on it failed. Two stars, one for service and one for texture of the food. The three stars missing are for the terrible seasoning, bad execution of simple dishes, and prices that do not match up to experience.

Ann Thomas

Lovely view high over the Mississippi!

Sandra Schmidt

Crane and Pelican has the best food in the area! Today I enjoyed a cup of cream of Asparagus soup. It was absolutely delicious

Staff was friendly and service was good. Food was subpar. I had a prime rib sandwich - meat was dry and very grisly. I also ordered the mushroom risotto - the rice was not fully cooked and stuck in my teeth. I would not return if back in LeClaire again.

Jayne Clampitt

A+

Marvin Wackler

waited 45 minutes after our order was taken and was told it would be a few more minutes, and it still didn't come, they had to throw out the egg salad and then the meatloaf, poor excuse for a restaurant, will never go back.

Michael Grummer

We were in the area for one night and used Google reviews and the restaurant's online menu to decide to go here. We were not disappointed. Thai corn fritters for an appetizer were flavorful with a wonderful burn on the end. My wife had the Smoked Gouda soup. This was not a thick, gooey soup but a thin broth that tasted of smokey gouda and red peppers. Satisfying without being overly filling. She had a center cut sirloin for her main dish. This was cooked to perfection and accompanied by fresh cooked broccoli and horseradish smashed potatoes. I had the Meatloaf dinner, with a more than generous portion of meatloaf and gravy, as well as the aforementioned potatoes and broccoli. Service was excellent and the atmosphere of the old pilot house just added to the overall feel. We would definitely come back when in the area.

Charles Embrey

Nice atmosphere delicious food

Dennis DeCrane

Had a late lunch , it was nothing special. Probably won't go back.

Kim Gibson

Always a wonderful meal.

Linda Conway

Wonderful relaxed atmosphere. Fresh local food, cooked properly. Many choices for gluten free. The homemade ice cream is delicious!

Mike T

Just a block or so away from the famed American Pickers shop, this elegant historic home with eclectic and diverse menu. Food was spectacular and the service first class. I ordered the roast beef sandwich with beer bread, horseradish mashed potatoes, and freshly cut beef. Fresh made Limoncello and local root beer were outstanding. Finished up with a chocolate rasberry cake. Highly recommend.

Mary Johnson

The meatloaf sandwich is terrific! Sliced and browned so its carmelized and crispy but soft inside on a brioche bun. Husband had the prime rib sandwich and rhubarb pie for dessert which he enjoyed. He said he could eat the ice cream for breakfast it was that rich with eggs. The risotto was the only downside with the rice needing a bit more cook time and seasoning.

James Bull

Great place. Good views from windows. Homemade ice cream. Autumn is great server/ bartender. Good food. Good deserts

Colleen Schloemer

I really enjoyed myself at the restaurant. Being able to watch the river and the barges Going by. I love the house.

Matthew Little

Went for an early dinner while in town. Food was great! Nice atmosphere, decent prices.

Ed Carr

Marvelous food, superb servers, reasonable price's and the best old fashion I have ever had. I highly recommend this place for dining. If I lived 800 miles closer I would make it my favorite place.

Kate Sommers

Went in at 4pm. And it was pretty much dead except for a few people sitting outside. There was a sign that said seat yourself so we did and there were two people refilling coffee and drink containers. They looked at us but didn’t say anything. We sat there for 10 minutes and no one came over or said anything to us. So we just left.

Diane Terry

Historical site, but very view seats with a view of the river. Service was extremely slow, and our orders had multiple errors. They corrected most of them, but never received one of the sides and my drink was never refilled. When we reminded them of these things, they adjusted the bill. The food we had was very good, but small portions. We left hungry. It was overpriced.

Laurel Webster

Love old homes and love unique menus. This place has both. Only reason they got four stars was because our order got lost and we were waiting long but that is not normal. They took care of our drinks and were very friendly. Worth the stop if you love history and a friendly atmosphere......and the food was good too.

Molly Stoewer

Fantastically refreshing. Great good with real portions.

Tom Davis

Best Reuben sandwich I've had. Kettle chips were great too.

Joe Kleiss

Great place very friendly staff and great food if your and looking for something unique this is your place

Jimmie Toothman

The waitress was friendly, atmosphere was a little ok the weird side as it felt like you were eating at your grandma or great aunts house... Food tasted good but it was cold when it was brought out to me so I had to send it back to be warmed up. Really expensive for the portion size. 7oz. Steak, 2 pcs of asparagus a small ice cream scoop of smashed potatoes and a mini muffin of beer bread was $35.99

Holly Lynn Loussaert

Ordered half a beet salad and half an asparagus sandwich with the lemon aioli on the side. It was a very good lunch

Brady Greene

Best fine dining experience in the Quad Cities area. Go for the meatloaf dinner and orange crepes for dessert if you've never been. Awesome drink menu as well.
