The manger came to us to comp the meal after thinking it took to long for us to get our meal. We were just enjoying the surroundings and didnt mind but he insisted. The chicken is outstanding, but the mac and cheese is literally the best I've ever had, anywhere! Seriously, this is like make your grandma sad it's so good. Take a friend, split a sammy and a MnC, and be happy. Add a picture of cocktails, and be really happy!

Visiting friends while in town. They suggested the Eagle. I had never heard of it but was pleasantly surprised. I had the fried Chicken sandwich and the macaroni and cheese. The only thing better than the food was our waiter, Brian. He instantly brought me a refill and an extra fork when I dropped mine! I will definitely be back when I am in town. The I really enjoyed the food here. The fried chicken was great, especially dipped in the spicy honey. I don't remember what they call it, but it is great! I enjoyed the slaw, it tasted like a mix between creamy and vinegar slaw.

Best chicken ever. I’m from Texas and I’ve had some damn good chicken, but this one hit hard. Everything was so good. I recommend the spoon bread, mac n cheese, and the whole chicken(which I ate by myself) I’m also 14:). For a southern chicken restaurant the biscuits are not there speciallity, and not worthy or the delicious blackberry jam. I would recommend this place to anybody who’s looking to get there eat on.

We went here on a Sunday for dinner. Plenty of seats open but took 20 minutes to be seated. Our orders were taken and food arrived in a decent time but after that the service went down hill. We barely saw our waitress after that. We had to ask other servers for refills and condiments. It's weird... there are a hundred staff workers running around, not very busy, but can't see anything getting done. I always saw our waitress looking so busy but not sure why. On the other hand, the food was really good. I had the chicken sandwich and fries. The sandwich has coleslaw and pickles, goes together very nice. So if you don't mind waiting on service give it a try.

Sooo...I tried this place because two people who’s opinions I listen to but I will have to disagree with them on this one. First, it took my waiter a while to come over to take our drink order. I ordered a sweet tea and my partner ordered a water. You would think it would come back fairly quick, well you guessed it, it didn’t. We finally order and food comes out: - chicken cold - the spoon bread was not as good as everyone praises about - collards were just ok - Mac and Cheese was the star of this lackluster meal We finally pay after waiting for the waiter to come check on us. We sat there for a good 7-8 mins waiting for him to bring our cards back! Get this, it was NOT busy. Needless to say, I will not be back. (two stars you ask: one for a new place and the second for the mac & cheese)

It's got a family style feel and all the sides and fixings are some of the best ive ever had, and you cannot go wrong with their chicken and the spicy honey sauce it comes with, and the Mac and cheese is to die for. Fried chicken and spoon bread (honey sweetened cornbread with kernels of corn in it ) are the best! The lemonade is on the tart side, but it works well with the sweetness of everything else. Yes to the spicy honey for the chicken. It pairs perfectly. I will be back.

Women's restroom did not have soap, and the problem was still not resolved after 2 hours of me telling two different employees. One of my guy friends had to go into the men's restroom, put soap on his hand, and bring it out to me. Food was delicious but the chicken dinner family style was not enough portion size to be worth $16 per person. We had plenty of chicken, but not enough sides so we had to order extra. I did like the variety of getting 4 different sides w/chicken: full fried chicken (3), kale salad (2), spoon bread (2), Mac and cheese (3), mashed potatoes (2), but each person barely got enough sides (party of 7). I like the atmosphere and seating is good for larger parties which is convenient! Their spicy honey is AMAZING. Fun and Friendly service tho.

Best fried chicken in Indy! Word to the wise, children are allowed here, but I wouldn't take them in the evenings during weekends. There is also usually a wait if you go Friday or Saturday night. The grilled cheese and an amaretto sour is a must. Enjoy!

I love love love this place. That back room is perfect for our loud laughs! I had chicken, mac n cheese, greens, sweet potatoes and that yummy bread. I think we had everything on the menu with my large party! The drinks wer ice cold. The fried chicken was piping hot. The staff was warm. That's what we like! Going back. Mass Ave parking is bananas but all good.

I have visited this location several times, and today was disappointing. The original waitress we had was so dismissive and rude to us. Took about 20 minutes to get a water and a straw . We had requested to have the person who was helping us switch and the experience immediately changed. The name on the receipt is Rylee. She was patient and checked on us and made sure we were good. The food is amazing comfort food with great portions for sharing . The drinks are handcrafted and worth the experience. I’m glad they were able to make a shift . Thank you again to the manager and the young woman who helped us.

Service wasn’t bad and the food was great! I got the fried chicken sandwich (mayo on the side) and mac & cheese. The mayo was a spicy mix of some kind which I didn’t really like (I don’t like mayo in general though), but I definitely found that the sandwich didn’t miss it. I did try a bit with the mayo sauce, actually thought it detracted from the taste, I admit I may be biased though. Service was good but was a bit hard to get someone’s attention at times. All in all I’d say it’s worth a visit if you are in the area.

Great chicken and home cooked meal. Everything we ate was absolutely delicious! Inhave never had collared greens but oh boy! After that, I will not hesitate to order it again! The sweet potato bowl was a side but it tasted like a dessert! They have delicious drinks and a wide selection of alcohol. Would recommend again!

If I could give this place 4.5 stars I would. Let's start with the chicken. PHENOMENAL chicken. I had their fried chicken sandwich and the ratio of meat to breading to actual bread to coleslaw was perfect - the coleslaw cut right through the chicken in a great way and the bread was just weighty enough to take it. For the chicken alone, 5 stars. The mac and cheese was thoroughly 4 stars. Good mac with a little bit of breading on top, but the flavor was lacking - it was very heavy cheddar and would've loved some other creamier cheeses in there too that would lighten and diversify the flavor just a little more. Altogether relatively cheap too - would definitely recommend this place to others!

I had an amazing experience at the Eagle. I'm not exaggerating when I say that it was one of the best restaurants that I visited during my time in Indianapolis. I ordered the fried chicken (a half chicken), mac and cheese, and collard greens. I had their lemonade for a drink. I noticed the chicken had a little kick to it but even as a person who doesn't particularly like spicy food, I still thought it was some of the best fried chicken I've had in my life. My server was great, she had a nice attitude and made sure to check on me regularly. The only thing I'd complain about is my lemonade - I like mine a little sweeter than theirs so I wasn't too gung ho about it. But the meal itself was great. It was pricey (around $27 not including the tip) but it was worth every penny I spent. I would definitely recommend this spot as a place to eat if you're visiting Indy and whenever I come back to Indianapolis, I will visit here again.

It was okay.. the food was pretty good. I prefer to know beforehand that an item is spicy, we weren't really informed and the menu didn't specify. Several items were spicy and not identified as such but luckily I enjoy spicy foods! My mom, not so much. Also our appetizer and food was brought out back to back which I found odd and we were never given utensils! I had to go get utensils off another table. The service was good overall.

This was probably the best chicken that I've ever had! Mac & cheese was amazing! And the grilled cheese was really good too. Everything was very flavorful! We went for lunch the first time, then again after a girls night out. I would recommend going around lunch/ early dinner. Neither of us like spicy food, so we got the *spicy mayo* on the side. Please note that the chicken is SPICY itself. The menu did not say that, so we were not expecting that spice at all. Wowzers. Definitely wouldn't have ordered that sandwich had we known. Perhaps the waiter could have told us that when we were deciding what to get. The chicken was good, and likely would have been phenomenal minus the spice

My wife and I went here for our 4th Anniversary, and the staff made us feel so special. This place was so awesome! I loved everything about this place. The food was top notch and the service was A+!! Came to visit our kids and they suggested The Eagle for dinner. Was not disappointed. We had a really great server, Issac. He was super friendly and remembered everything even with all the crazy happening around. We had loads of food. The pork sandwich, a chicken sandwich, chicken BLT sandwich, 1/4 chicken and several sides. Mac and cheese. Spoon bread, grits, and fries. Oh and hush puppies. All amazing food. Really. Not one item was bad. Loads of flavor. I love when food has consistancy across the board. Even though our wait was suppose to an hour it was probably more like 15 min. Glad we waited. If you are downtown Indianapolis or near here stop by and have some good food. The pics of the food are empty because we ate it all. Haha. Sorry folks. Just trust me.

I went to the Eagle a few months ago for dinner. A group of us were celebrating with a Bachelorette party for a dear (now married!) friend. The candied bacon is probably my favorite item on the menu, but I also give high remarks to the grilled cheese and bacon & egg salad...which truly tests the theory that a runny egg makes everything better (it definitely does). We sat outside on the patio and enjoyed the food, weather, and cute string lights that gave a nice relaxed vibe. To top it all off the manager paid for our groups dinner and drinks, and personally congratulated my friend on her upcoming wedding. We were blown away, and will definitely be back!

I've come to Indy just a couple times for conferences. Each time, I have eaten at The Eagle, and each time, I have left 100% satisfied. Truly the best fried chicken I've ever eaten, and if I start to mention which side dishes are my favorite, I'll list the entire menu (make sure you get lots of the hot honey). This past visit, just last week, my party and I were on a time crunch because of the start time of an evening session. The Eagle moved up my reservation by 30 minutes the day of, and our server that evening, Elizabeth F, was exceptional — prompt, kind, helpful. Check this place out, you won't be disappointed.

The four of us decided to eat at The Eagle Mass Ave and were very happy with the food and the service. Two of us ordered the fourth of a chicken and another ordered a half of chicken and we were very happy with the selection. The chicken was cooked perfectly. It was moist and flavorful. The fourth person ordered the chicken sandwich. The sandwich was big and he cut it in half to be able to eat it easier.Our friend had nothing but compliments on the sandwich and fries.Two of us ordered the grits and they were delicious and a bit spicy.My husband decided to try an order of biscuits and jelly. We all tried the biscuits and liked them. We all were full and happy. We all plan on eating at this restaurant again. We also drank a bloody mary and margarita. The drinks were both great. All four of us would highly recommend The Eagle.

The Eagle is known for it’s incredible fried chicken, but there is so much more on the menu! The salads are absolutely amazing and the portions are very large. A half-size salad is plenty, especially if you also order some warm spoon bread (corn bread) which tastes like my grandmother baked it, or sweet potatoes that taste like holiday heaven. The sandwich menu is also fun and pairs well with their delicious seasoned fries. So many yummy things to eat at the Eagle!

Their chicken is brined in-house and is absolutely fantastic. Awesome place to get a beer and some fantastic southern comfort food. I would definitely recommend getting the fried chicken sandwich or their quarter chicken with dark meat instead of the white. Their spicy honey is also life changing. This place is always amazing, however I am easy to please when it comes to good soul food. The mac n' cheese is bomb and of course the collard greens are amazing. I also appreciate their reasonable drink prices. The bloody mary is a must try. Served with a piece of candied bacon, it is divine.

I want to like this place more because everyone I know loves it. Fried chicken sandwich is fine, if a bit busy. Honey sauce is fine, quite sweet. I have had better fried chicken for same price or cheaper. Good selection of beers on tap though. Atmosphere is cool but the couple times I've been in, it's been way too loud (very busy and crowded), difficult to hear people at my own table.

The chicken was amazing, but the Mac & cheese noodles were too hard and it was dry. I would prefer if they put more sweet potatoes and less marshmallows in that dish. Not a fan of the horseradish with mashed potatoes. The collards were pretty good. Spicy honey was good, but wish I was told before I poured it on my chicken.

I was in town for a couple of days and stumbled onto this restaurant. What a find! I had 3 dinners here in 4 nights and never went wrong. The half chicken, chicken sandwich, or the pork sandwich all were excellent. And the hush puppies...don't plan to share. Follow it all up with a Crabbies Ginger Beer and you've got something magical happening. Loved it.

Last night myself and 6 of my friends visited here for some drinks and food. We were out celebrating my best friend who found out this week that she won her battle with cancer. We told our server Conner (excellent server) this while chatting with him. He then brought my friend a glass of champagne to celebrate. Then when it was time for the bill our server told us that his manager comped all of our alcoholic beverages. I was blown away by the kindness the employees showed us at The Eagle. The fried chicken is delicious! We also ordered the horseradish mashed potatoes and succotash, which were both very good. The fried chicken sandwich was pretty good, and loaded with chicken and toppings. The tables are communal, so you may be seated with multiple couples/groups. There's also outside seating and a very large bar. The atmosphere is relaxed, it's a fun place.

Saturday evening and very busy but with few tables for kids, our wait for 5 people was still only 20 minutes and we were told 30-45. Excellent fried chicken and one person in our party got the fried chicken sandwich that looked absolutely to die for! Sides appeared and tasted homemade and they were yummy too. Highly recommend!

My manger and I just went to The Eagle in Indianapolis, IN for the first time. Erin P was gonna our waitress and was absolutely amazing!!! She asked the right questions and was so personable with us. She was young but was so great at her job!!! I can’t wait to go back to The Eagle and next time I go I will certainly ask to sit in Erin P’s section. The food was to die for!! AMAZING Service!! James is a fantastic server! We had a very large party (18+) and were there during the middle of the lunch rush. We were also all separate checks. He didn't get any food orders wrong and refilled drinks promptly. He got us our checks right after the food came out because he had overheard some of us had meetings to get to. He even brought us a bunch of to go boxes ahead of us asking for them. He is a super star! Thank you James for making our long lunch such a pleasant experience!

If you ever find yourself in or near Indianapolis, stop at the Eagle. The food blew my mind and my taste buds away. The honey is delicious and although I'm not a big fan of spicy foods the spice recipe in the fried chicken and honey is the right amount of kick that propels the food beyond delicious. The only wasted trip is one not made to The Eagle.

Great atmosphere and really tasty food. If you like southern and spicy this is the place for you. Nice selection of micro brews. The chicken was crispy, nicely seasoned and not greasy. The grits were legit and so were the collards and biscuits.

The Eagle Mass Ave is wonderful! A restaurant or pub, in Indianapolis that has the flavors and flair of traditional Southern cooking. I really like the chicken, fries and salads but the absolute best part of going to Brothers deli is the brown sugar bacon! The sandwiches, sweet potatoes, succotash and Cole slaw are amazing! Get to the restaurant a little early in the lunch hour to avoid the crowds and it's even better. I go as often as I'm in town and look forward to it every time.

My first time going. The staff were incredible and checked in often. I had the fired chicken BLT which was also amazing. One thing I would advise is that the sandwiches and sides are quite large and usually meant for sharing. To-go boxes are a must!

The Eagle is flat out awesome. Some of the absolute best Fried Chicken you can find in the city, and fantastic sides to compliment it. The Mac and Cheese is amazing. The biscuits are awesome. Brown Sugar Bacon should practically sell itself... You won't be disappointed.

Wait time wasn’t bad, during the dinner rush! Service was decent. My issue came when they attempted to seat to Caucasian ladies at our table (it’s family style sitting). The two women had a 5-7 min discussion on if they wanted to sit at the table with us (we are BLACK). It was so rude & quite honestly a little humiliating. We also wished we could have eaten at a table alone.(my husband & I). But their conversation & the things that were said made us second guess if we ever wanted to eat here again! The table was big enough that we would have no interaction with each other! It’s sad that In this day & age people are still so prejudice, biased, and rude. Especially in an area like Mass Ave that offers & accepts so much diversity! Maybe next time, if there is a next we will order carry out, as to not make your other customers uncomfortable; simply by being Black!

This is arguably the best place to eat in Indianapolis. The atmosphere is absolutely modern in fantastic with a touch of rustic. Could not ask for a neater layout that feels different from all the chains. The bar I huge and is front and center with a good selection of brews and cocktails. The bourbon menu is quite large and welcoming with multiple ryes not just a “well” on tap. I have tried virtually everything on the menu and it is fantastic. The fried chicken with the spicy honey is fantastic as is the grilled cheese with apples and apricot sauce. We always like to add a slice of grilled chicken to the grilled cheese to send it over the top. The mac & cheese is the best we’ve had in the Midwest and arguably anywhere else in the nation. The grits are fantastic as well with spicy peppers ground up in them. Sweet potato crock with the marshmallows caramelized on top is great as well. The pricing is spot on considering the high quality of food in the great service that you will receive. If I could offer six stars for this I would it is absolutely the best around!

(10-10-19): We visited around 5:15 PM. We went in and there was no wait. We sat outside and then our waitress came and took our drink orders. The drinks came out fast. As I looked at the menu, I noticed they have a pretty small food but a very large drink menu (see the photo). For our entree, we ordered a whole chicken and a plain fried chicken sandwich with fries. The fried chicken was good and the Mac n cheese was good. My fries were good. The sandwich was fine. Pros: The service was very fast. Our food was out to us in 15 minutes. The sides were good Cons: My chicken sandwich was really spicy and my mouth was burning like crazy. All in all, this is a good joint. I will hopefully come back in the future and I would recommend.

This place is amazing! Such a chill atmosphere! The food is delicious! And reasonably priced as well.. Attentive staff also made the visit enjoyable. Maybe it’s a Hoosier thing, but when I hear fried chicken I think sign me up! You have several different options has far as chicken portions when you visit. I went with half a bird and wasn’t mad at my decision. The sides are a must have, the Mac a cheese is cooked well, that sounds like an off thing to mention but people Seem to have a hard time cooking noodles, and because carbs are life, try the mashed potatoes with garlic I don’t think you’ll be mad, unless you share a blood line with Dracula. The drinks! You can get a Bloody Mary with Guinness, which is its own unique flavor and there’s also a decent selection of draft beers to choose from. Hot honey with chicken is a sauce that you might find yourself very into after a trip to the eagle, can’t wait to go back!

Good comfort food. The grilled cheese was delicious. I got it plain (without apricot preserves, etc.) but still very tasty. The side order of fries was plentiful! Firstly, this place has great fried chicken with a nice spicy honey to match! Their homemade biscuits are great, and the vibe is nice. The line can be a bit long to get in the door. The bar can have a bit of beer on it from the draft pours, but that is the worst of it. Enjoy the food!

I came here right during the dinner rush, but since I was by myself I found a spot at the bar pretty easily. I ordered half a chicken with a side of spoon bread, and both of them are incredible. The chicken was so well done and the spoon bread had such a good flavor to it. Service was great, and the Ambiance was good too. I'll definitely come back

The food is good it's always good but me being black they put me all the way in the back behind the wall. My day didn't want to see us pretty much all of the black people wear in the back in a hole. I didn't quite like that I needed it the other people that was over there in the back as well.

Outdoor seating on a beutiful Indy afternoon and a tall spiked lemonade is a must if you visit Indy! The spicy honey is addicting - pour it on everything you order. Fried chicken is breaded fresh daily, the mac and cheese will change your mind on what you once considered a child's snack.

I've been here a few times now and have only had positive experiences. I didn't order anything the first few times I visited, but had good interactions with the staff. I did order food during my most recent visit and it was good. The spoon bread (I think) is definitely worth ordering.

We've been referring our guests to this restaurant based on word-of-mouth. I personally visited this hip up-and-coming eatery to gain an experience for myself. The manager Sam greeted us in the atrium warmly and welcomed us as if we were returning patrons. They seated us at the Patio Area Bar where we encountered the nicest bar tender! I believe her name was Danielle, and her service was exemplary! The food was absolutely fantastic and the drinks were well mixed especially their signature Eagle Iced Tea! I recommend that everyone try this place out! For the best service, ask for the Manager, "Sam", and the Bartender "Danielle"! Thanks Eagle Staff for creating a very memorable experience us!

I try not to give five stars out too often but The Eagle is definitely worth it. I had the chicken sandwich but here's where it get really good... it's southern hot chicken style, something you might find in Memphis or Nashville. The crust on the chicken was outstanding - crunchy and well seasoned. The chicken was moist and absolutely delicious! The sides were great as well. I had the mac and cheese but we also ordered the sweet cornbread as well as frittatas. My favorite out of the three was the M&C. Drinks were great. I had an IPA from Fat Head's that was so good with the chicken sandwich. Overall, a huge score and definitely have plans to return!
